Lovely bar in the Northern Quarter. Prices are average for the area and they have a happy hour. Also home to Nells who do amazing pizza. Venue has outdoor seating, great on a sunny day.

The pizza is so good here, when the weather is nice it's great to sit outside, inside the atmosphere can be a bit loud and if you get put at a high table the stools are uncomfortable. Can't fault the service, everyone is really friendly, and any mistakes get corrected or comped with no fuss. Lots of vegan options. Just don't get the house white wine because it's really not nice, stick to beers or cocktails!

We used it as a cafe on Sunday afternoon. We had a lot of luggage because we needed to move to the next town, but the cafe was spacious and comfortable. The latte was free with oats milk, which was a nice touch. The atmosphere of the English brickwork was also nice.

Unfortunately my partner had a very negative experience when dining at common yesterday. One of the bar staff, who he has described as a man with a bleach blonde buzzcut, was extremely rude and dismissive when he politely went over to let him know that he had been served the wrong drink - he had ordered a lager but was given a cider by mistake. We will certainly not be returning here.

A great kid friendly place to eat pizza and grab a tasty beer - The house pale ale from Pomona island is delicious if a tad pricey (£7/Something a pint) pizza is crisp, fresh and the 12-4pm weekday discounts make it even more palatable for a hungry family.

Website clearly states: "Every day between 4pm – 7pm and ALL DAY Monday" Yet they wouldn't do any happy hour prices when we arrived at 4.30pm so won't go here again.

I've been a few times and the food has always been amazing and the staff have been polite and friendly. My only complaint is that sometimes it can get quite loud in there depending on the other customers

You gave my order to another table then apologised to us and said you’ll have ours out asap but brought us someone’s else’s order and we had to wait over an hour for our actual order.

I like Common for the pizza, the weekday deal is good. There is plenty of choice and option to sit outside if the weather is nice. I don’t like the unisex toilets though, they smell like urine and are dark. Most women, in my experience do not like unisex toilets.

I ordered enough pizza to feed 50 people on the busiest night of the week & the staff were able to accommodate the order. Special mention goes to Katie who helped us carry the 22” pizzas to a venue nearby - thank you vvvvvv much 🙌🏻

Good pizza not great but still good.

Just called in for a slice to take out, slice was great, (Pepperoni honey) service was friendly and attentive but the slice took kinda a look time to come out compared to other by the slice places in the city. Great, but don’t go with a time limit.

The best bar in the NQ. Not only do they do the best vegan pizzas around, the beer is great too! The Common beer is decent and well endowed…if you fancy saving the pennies on the more expensive beer, you won’t go wrong here! Also to mention, the overall atmosphere is fab too.l always enjoy the friendly staff, happy laughing by people and the hidden gem this place is

Celebrated my birthday with friends - the massive pizza was perfect with a few other bits to share. Happy hour from 8 was great and meant the trip didn’t break the bank, with a DJ all night bringing good birthday vibes

This spot is the perfect choice for a beginning of a night out. It has great pizza and frozen margs and gets you ready for a night of dancing. Sitting out in the sun with a pizza between friends and cold drinks, I can’t think of anything better. The staff are super friendly and the service is quick. Looking forward to my next few days in Manchester so I can go back!

Nice atmosphere in here. I’d go back and give it another chance as the food was really nice and outdoor area is good. But it was so busy I don’t think we got the best of the service. One of our three pizzas didn’t turn up as it ‘wasn’t in the system’ - we had to check on it 3 times before it came and when it did come it came without the sauces ordered. Aperol Spirts was served in a small tumbler and wasn’t worth £8.50. Our drinks also took double the amount of time the website said they would take when ordered on the QR code.

Quite lively even during the afternoon/early evening. Popular Northern Quarter location. Nell's pizza and some decent house beers. Can order from table QR code, can be a little slow at the bar when busy but a nice place to spend a couple of hours

Website says open until late. Google says open until 00:30. However we were turned away at 23:20. So I’m not sure what the opening times are?

Called into Common on a rainy Sunday for a quick bite to eat and a pint. Ordered pizza and after 40 minutes we were still sat there whilst other diners had been served their pizza despite ordering after us. My son approached the bar and was told there had been an issue with our order and they had had to start our order from scratch. Why did not one come and tell us this? There was no apology from the bar tender either. The pizzas were eventually brought to us after another 20 minutes. The pizza was New York style and similar to Dominos. Nothing special. Bill was £45 for 2 x pizza, 2 individual slices of pizza, 2 pints and a glass of pop. My son emailed Common via their socials to complain and the response was we had been offered free drinks. This was a lie. We were not even offered a simple sorry for the delay. Sad to be writing this review as I had many a fun Friday night in Common in the early 00’s.

Great outdoor seating when the weather is good

Let's start with the good: the pizza is absolutely great. Can't fault the quality and there's a huge range of toppings. Unfortunately everything else isn't good. Value for money wise, it isn't great. £3.50 per slice or best part of £30 for the (admittedly enormous) pizzas is steep. Service isn't great either - the staff can barely be bothered to acknowledge you. Add into this issues with the app - the cocktails which are all on promotion all day Monday only appear on the app at full price, and then the food we ordered via the app took 50 minutes to arrive. When we queried it it appeared immediately, having just been sat on the side ever since it had been cooked. Not great, really, and again, the staff don't seem to really know what's going on. Ordinarily a bad experience in terms of service and value would put me off returning, but the pizza is good enough that we'll give it another go. But really, if the place can't run effectively on a Monday evening, it doesn't fill you with hope for a busier time of the week.

Fairly pricey for booze but the enormous pizza slices are fantastic. Not as much food/beer selection as there once was but what they do have is good quality.

Monday night lovely chilled vibe x

Since Common was renovated it's been going downhill. The beer selection was poor, very poor. One staff member was friendly but the others weren't particularly interested in their patrons. We were quite delighted at the menu and eager to try a slice each but unfortunately they didn't live up to expectation. The vegan mushroom slice was awful. It was crunchy like a cracker. The mushrooms were smaller and sliced thinner than my fingernail. The tomato drizzled across was thick like puree. We couldn't taste the cashew cream base because though the nutritional yeast was a nice touch, it overpowered the rest of the flavours. I was impressed with the gender neutral toilets but that was about it. I probably won't be back but it's probably more fun if you're a student or young adult.

We booked a table for three but been offered a very small table, they said there is no table available and this is the only one free… anyway, that’s why half of my pizza is literally over the edge of the table… waited for 30 mins for our food, pizza was good and service is alright. I personally won’t go back because I love my food on the table!

The combination of good booze and good pizza with a good place to be

The miserable girl with the black bob hair has to be the rudest barmaid I have ever had the misfortune to come across, not just to us but other customers too, waiting to order a drink and she has a very dirty look on her face, uses words like 'what do you want then', make the order and she tuts, rolls her eyes and shrugs, other customers waiting to be served get the same treatment and can't seem to believe it either. Did used to be a good bar, gone downhill over the past few years for sure.

Nice decor on a corner plot. Even nicer that they support local breweries - their house IPA is pretty good from Pomona Island and tasty.

I used to frequent common when it was Common and there was nothing to fault! It was amazing. This time around, now Common x Nell’s the disappointment is astounding. Poor customer service, no coffee, no cutlery, very average pizza and toilets downstairs down a corridor that are gender neutral? Do you really feel it’s appropriate that a women has to go into the same bathroom as a man (or vice versa)? Predators can use this to their advantage in a bathroom downstairs down a corridor. That a child can be in a bathroom with a predator? As mentioned above, Aside from the inappropriate bathrooms, the food and service is disappointing. Will never be returning.

Enjoyed some good drinks and pizza at Common with friends. We stayed for the pub quiz which was fun too! Would recommend the ice cream sandwiches they're tasty

Maybe I'm just getting old, but we came on a Friday night and it was ridiculously loud. The pizzas were out of this world (the 22" is really massive), but the music could have been a little quieter. It was really hard to speak to anyone nearby.

I love it here. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The pizzas of which I think I’ve tried all of now are spot on and huge! Great value for money.

Visited for a work do. Seamlessly organised and well advised by everyone working there. Food was prompt, delicious and a fantastic variety for all our camp. Katie was nothing short of fabulous. A credit to your team. Big thanks to her and the rest of the folks working there. Really made our event one to remember.

Three of us sat in the big room, the only ones there. I tried to order a pizza but they needed a table number and I couldn't just tell them that we were the ones in the corner of the big empty room, so I walked back to the big empty room and got the number. Gluten free ale was excellent and I appreciate it is on tap there. No gluten free pizza though, so this is very confusing. Ordered my pizza, then my friends went up and ordered. My friend's food arrived. I sat looking at it for a good 20 minutes. No one cared that they brought food to two people at a table while I sat there without. I tried to be polite and wait, but after they finished their pizza, I enquired about mine. They had forgotten to put the order through. Great. I was one person in an empty room and they forgot even though they had my table number. Terrible service. First and last time there.

Came here for the first time on Thursday. Really lovely spot in the sun on the outside tables. Pizza was amazing and great value, beers were a good price and a three hour happy hour! Loved karaoke, loads of fun, will be back.

Modern bar with great indoor and outdoor areas

Food was sublime, service was brilliant - such a great atmosphere. Only gripe was the app wasn't working quite correctly, but that was of little consequence! 10/10

My wife and I decided to go for something to eat and drink. we come across this restaurant / bar . In the Northern Quarter in manchester down one of the lovely side roads outside was wooden tables & benches we decided on a pizza we want for the Original Sausage Material now the grant thing is you can order a full Pizza or a slice how good is that . so i go inside this spacious building with its wooden bar and open kitchen to the side of it and order are drinks way waiting for are pizza not to long a wait prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly its a busy place on a lovely sunny weekend with a diverse mix of people and a good atmosphere. well worth a visit. Note of information toilets are down stairs however the disabled toilet is on the ground floor level. Also dog friendly. Would I go back again yes most definitely

I do like it here. Great social place and really good pizza and has a good vibe. I only didn't give 5 stars because a few times they've forgotten about orders I've done on the app. And sometimes the music is so loud you can't hear anyone talking but other than that, i really like going to Common .

Nice pizza and cheap Malbec wine. Great seats and good atmosphere. Wish they had more choices of types of pizza though (thin crust, deep pan, stuffed crust etc..)

Common used to be the place we headed to every weekend (usually Friday nights and back again for lunch on Sundays). It was a friendly yet busy bar with great food and good music. No longer… The Common Burger has been replaced and the bar now only serves pizza, the funky art has gone and the staff are no longer the coolest people in the NQ. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

One of my favourite bars in northern quarter Manchester Bar service is always quick and the happy hour offers good deals on drinks Stuck to the common larger which was lovely Happy hour the pint is 4 pounds and the tequila is 2 for 6 pounds The pizza is also incredible and absolutely massive You can purchase by the slice or a huge whole one 5 star hands down

*Update- many of the issues I experienced below were seemingly a one of and just a bad coincidence. A member of the team reached out and explained the situation. The food really was very good and i have no reason to not believe the member of staff who wrote to me. I'd now be willing to give the place another go based on what he's said* Firstly, the food was lovely, I have to start with that. There were issues, quite a few and more than enough to stop me coming back. The app based ordering system was slow and I struggled with the mobile data strength for this to run effectively. Also the idea of having a dedicated app to save to my phone for a one off visit is radiculous. Why not just a web page? Next up, item availability. We had a table at 7.45 on a Saturday night. A significant proportion of the menu was "unavailable". I would estimate a quarter of the pizzas were unavailable and 2 of the 5 starters were unavailable. The when I ordered my pizza and paid, a server came back to tell me that things that were included in my order, that appeared as available, were also unavailable. Overall I don't see how having a waiter take your order wouldn't have been easier than this process above. The atmosphere was a bit loud for me but that's maybe just my preference (live DJ in house). Lastly, they use an obscene amount of disposable plastics. Our starters were on polystyrene plates and our drinks in plastic cups. In today's world it blows my mind that somewhere that is some otherwise cool and forward looking is so backwards when it comes to an environmental policy. Frankly it's terrible. None of this would take much to change.

A great place for a quiet pint and a chat, staff are always helpful and provide great service. Now serving pizza too, the chovy is my favourite and is a great snack by the slice. The beer selection is good, and staff are happy to help choose something if you're unsure

Their scran’s always stunning with brilliant vegan options. It’s not the kind of vegan option that just feels like they’ve taken the cheese off something - they’re super creative, tasty + good value! The staff are lovely, and the place’s general vibe is honestly delightful. Fully recommend!!

I was in Northern Quarter on a busy Saturday afternoon with 2 hungry kids and a baby, we managed to grab a table in here, the staff were friendly and the pizza came so fast! Perfect

Pizza's good, beer tap selection is good, although better can be found nearby. Quite lacking in spirit/wine selection and relatively expensive. Good atmosphere and plenty of seating. A lot better when it's quieter (personally avoid Fri/Sat)
