Stayed here only for one night in July didn't find it very as I walked in because I felt the staff were not dressed in a nice uniform look like they just come out of Primark the room was very nice but found a lot of dust simple stuff that could be easily fixed the breakfast was not much to be desired about as my wife breakfast was half cold and I didn't know the person that matters for breakfast was a member of staff as he was not dressed in a uniform was not advised the restaurant was closed when I booked so therefore I had to go into town and have dinner how this place is a four-star I do not know I wouldn't even give it 3

Would suggest staff wear uniforms and have training in hospitality. Rooms need deep cleaning. Breakfast very cheap ingredients which need improvement as it costs £15.95. Perhaps new management needed?

We booked Colwick Hall for our wedding during May bank holiday, and it was the best decision we made. The venue itself is so stunning with beautiful gardens and a lake, it also accommodated for our 500 guests in the adjacent marquee. We were well looked after by Geetha Muthalagappan who was so professional and friendly. All our queries and questions were answered, and our wedding was as planned with great weather on our side. The staff on the day were attentive and caring making sure myself and my family were doing well. We stayed for two nights and our room was clean and extremely spacious. I would highly recommend this venue as the experience has been great all round and appreciate the time and effort provided. Thank you!

Visited here for a work function. Did not stay over, so have no idea regarding the rooms, hence me only leaving one star. The staff were not very friendly but did the job that they were being paid to do. The dj was not great and kept leaving it unattended. A Buffett was provided and the food was nice. The ladies toilets are nothing like you have ever seen. Glamour at its finest. I was taken aback at the decor! The men complained that their loo’s were not up to par in comparison 😂 Overall a good night and if ever that way again I would consider returning to stay the night.

Lovely staff! So welcoming and were so accommodating. Loads of nature walks connected to the hotel as well as being really easy to get to the centre of Nottingham. The receptionist was able to book us a taxi that arrived in 5 minutes! Only negative was the breakfast. The first day was good and then the second was about half the portion! They say gluten free option available, but that option is just removing everything with gluten! We ended up getting one egg, one piece of toast, very few baked beans and half a tomato for the price of around £16! There were no further options to get more food as the cereal wasn’t gluten free, pastries weren’t, and extra toast wasn’t available. Left feeling quite hungry!

I went with my husband for an afternoon tea yesterday. We had been bought a gift card for Christmas and when we went to book I had to pay an extra £9 and then another £5 because we wanted to go on a Saturday. The venue looked beautiful and thought we were in for a lovely treat. All the staff were lovely. Shown to our table, it was very small, and I thought how are we going to fit everything on here! We were asked by 3 different people what drink we wanted and waited a while for our tea to actually arrive , When the afternoon tea was brought out the table wobbled so the girl moved us to the next table, it was all very squashed, it was all very bland and nothing had much flavour, only the beef sandwich but I don’t like horseradish sauce so I didn’t eat that, the scones were very crumbly and hard to get the jam and cream to stay on them, the salad garnish (lettuce) was brown and didn’t look very appealing. For £49 I would expect to recieve better quality sandwiches and cakes! Very disappointed and would not recommend or return!

I came here today with my partner for an afternoon tea which we had booked online. We were really looking forward to having this treat. When we arrived we was led into the tea room and a gentleman asked about our reservation, and whilst he was polite I was really struggling to understand his spoken English, which gave me quite bad anxiety. We were led to a very small table and we sat down. We was asked if we wanted tea or coffee and the gentleman fetched our tea. 20 minutes later the same gentleman returned with a cake stand with sandwiches and cakes on it. There was barely any room on the table to accommodate this and the gentleman had to move our cups out of the way to make room. At this stage I started to feel really fed up. This can't be the first tea they have ever served, it's clear as day that the tables are too small so why do they stick with this and continue to make people struggle? Once space was made the gentleman left and I couldn't see my partner due to the cake stand on the table, so I had to try and bend my head to one side to make conversation. Then we looked at the food. 2 crustless sandwiches, soup served in the smallest pot they could find which was an espresso cup, and 2 scones that crumbled as soon as you cut them meaning we couldn't put any cream or jam on them. All I kept thinking was fifty quid for this.. Fifty quid... I apologised to my partner for bringing her here and explained I hadn't been before and I didn't know. My partner replied saying, I would rather have had a sausage roll in Southwell than this. The minimal food on offer must have mounted to less than a tenner, that's some markup that which they've made. I ate my crustless sandwich and left the 2 small cakes as I just felt cheated and disgusted. The decor of the place also let the experience down. Crumbling window ledges and terrible paint with the skin of the paint left to dry on the frames, no professional would have done a job this shabby. So we left feeling very sombre and cheated and didn't have much to say to one another after this. Would I go here again? Er, no. Not even at half price. Would I recommend this place ? I won't even grace that question with a response. This is my honest review having just come away from there. All I can say is vote with your feet people, there are 'much' better places out there to eat and so far we haven't come across one worse. Sorry for the bad review but we felt completely cheated today.

My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary. We stayed one night and were pleasantly surprised! The hotel was easy to get to by uber and the staff were very accommodating and friendly on our arrival. We had decided to go for afternoon tea there before checking in and were not dissapointed. A great seection of sandwiches, scones and a whole seperate platter of sweet treats. There was so much we took some away to our hotel room afterwards. We stayed in a deluxe room which still felt very palatial, with a huge bathroom complete with necessary toiletries. The bed was comfy and the room was romantically lit. The TV was quite small but the furnishings were lovely. We had a starter and a main fir dinner accompanied by a refreshing cocktail and beer. The starter was OK but the main was delish! Breakfast felt a bit rushed and the selection was small but enough. We will definately stay here again!

Christmas Lunch…Ridiculous What a xmas Lunch! Firstly the service. There seemed to be no one actually managing the waiting staff. They were all milling around and turning up in groups at some tables like little herds of sheep, whilst other tables were left unattended. No sense of purpose. The manager appeared to be doing some service themselves, rather than managing the service. This made for long waits between courses, dirty plates left on tables etc.Witnessed quite a few people sending food back. The food. Totally bizarre. Menu seemed straightforward and pleasant enough, but boy, the execution. Starters (soup) which were supposed to be hot were cold. And unpleasant. Main courses of beef , not bad, but not great, served with pomme puree which was actually sour tasting for some reason. Bizarre wrinkled hard green beans wrapped in what looked like bacon. Desert was the cheapest , most poor quality affair you could imagine. Truly horrible. To top it off the tableware was just grubby.

Average food, only just warm was served at high speed, plates cleared whilst people were still eating, tea and coffee brought with the main course, followed by pudding and cheese that we were nt ready to eat. We ordered one round of drinks and were not asked if we wanted more. Our seating was at 2pm, the room was empty by 3.40. We wont be going next year.

Dire!! Paid £80 a head for the Christmas Three Course meal. They thought were were arriving for 1pm, despite the booking text confirming 2pm. Starter - prepped well in advance. Toasted bread was refrigerated... Firm. Unpleasant. Main was clever because it was very dry overcooked beef wrapped in almost raw pastry. Wellington apparently.... Jug of water contained black mould. Had it replaced. Replacement came with more black mould as noticed by the staff member who picked it up as soon as she had put it down. Third jug arrived with black mould spots within. Advised the manager. Staff very apologetic and lovely, shame they are also slightly incompetent. I advise you hire hospitality professions in future. This hotel has changed hands and MY GOD what a shame. This was the worst Christmas experience I've ever had and the last time I visit Colwick Hall. Truly shocked and appalled at the price and the fact you didn't offer any refund EVEN after I said you would need to review the cost of this experience due to the issues and serving us actual mould in our water. Having read the replies from the owner across different pieces of feedback, let's see if they opt for - 1: thank me for a positive review 2: name a staff member they are going to scapegoat for this 3: blame a third party entity 4: own this failing and compensate us . 5: ignore this feedback fully I guess time will tell..

Went for afternoon tea. I believed I had booked a Grand Afternoon Tea as there were separate Book Online buttons next to the afternoon tea descriptions. Seems though you only book a table and when we got there they couldn't do the grand one as it "wasn't in the notes" which I had no idea I had to write and that "was not what they had prepared for us" . Also they say its in the Brasserie which is supposed to be a beautifully decorated Christmas theme but because they had a Christmas party in there we ended up in a soleless room with, at least initially, no music and hardly any people. They should not have taken my booking if the room advertised was not available or at least they should have informed me of such. Was for my daughters birthday too so not good. They also appeared short staffed. The Frozen afternoon tea, which is what we ended up with, is also a bit disappointing too. Don't really want soup and jelly included thanks. Wouldn't recommend unfortunately.

Went for afternoon tea (Christmas themed was extra due to the date of visit, no other option was available) and it was not great. Some of the food was childish (cream cheese & cheddar cranberry bread roll, the bright blue icing cupcake) and some just tasted awful (very salty bean soup, the artificial flavour blue jelly, the stale chocolate cake bite, overwhipped cream for the scones). I think it could have been classier. Service was fine, there was only 1 waitress and sometimes she missed the cues for refilling teas and coffees.

Went for Tea for 2 for the wife's birthday. The hotel may be 4 star but the tea for 2 wasn't. Food was 3/5. The sandwiches were small bite sizes. The soup was in a shot glass and pastry again were just a small amount. The scones tasted the best out of everything as they were buttery and moist. The rest of the cakes were small sizes, I wanted to have that wow factor considering paying £50+ for sandwiches and cakes. The hotel may be lavish for its décor and ambiance but the patisserie wasn't. The tables un even, the chairs make noises and the who vibe didn't really flow with the 4 star hotel, this was more of a "we have this space, we can use this area". Just my thoughts.

I had booked Colwick Hall Hotel for my wedding day this summer. I had booked a hotel room the night before to get ready for my big day. Upon arrival, me and my husband informed Jane the receptionist, that we were due to have our wedding here the following day. Jane advised that regardless of this we would have to check out at 12pm. I’d informed her that I was due to be ready by 1pm so if they could accommodate to my timings for an extra hour that would be greatly appreciated, as it was my wedding day. Jane was being very inconsiderate and extremely disrespectful with the tone of her voice. She had no bother that I was the bride and clearly under a lot of distress after being told that I would be removed from the room at 12pm. It was very evident that I was at the verge of tears. We requested to book for an additional night however was informed this was not possible. After going back and forth we did not get anywhere. Jane then told me to leave my number with her as she could “not be bothered” to walk upstairs to my room to give me an update. Following this a meeting room was provided after I requested to speak to the manager. Further on to my wedding day, being the bride and groom we had parked our wedding car outside the venue. We were then approached by Jane who repeatedly told us to move our car as we were not able to park there. We were not blocking any entrances nor exits. We explained that as the bride and groom our photographer will be taking our pictures in front of the venue but Jane was very adamant that we could not because she claimed this space is required for guests. Jane then argued with my relatives in regards to this matter and again was very inconsiderate and disrespectful. As a bride, I was in a very heavy and expensive wedding dress that I had to tread through grass and mud to be able to enter my wedding venue. We were not given any apology from Jane for this unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour. I will most definitely not recommend this venue to family and friends.

We were promised by the guy at reception that someone would come and look at it the next morning, but of course no one did. The windows in the room would not open, we had one fan between us all to try and keep cool. The reception guy was terribly rude, did not accommodate our needs & didn’t even smile once! He also tried to overcharge for the price of one of the rooms. When you pay good money to stay in a supposedly luxury venue, you expect the bare minimum customer service. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is the location is quiet and peaceful, however I will absolutely not be back here.

MORE AT Google

Do not book wedding here! We got married here in the summer 2022 and had an extremely bad experience on the day. Colwick Hall sold us a dream prior to the wedding day, but never followed through on the day itself. Prior to booking with Colwick Hall, we were assured that we would be a priority throughout the day as often, other events are held at the same time, however on the day we were told they didn't have enough time as they were too busy helping with the other event, if we needed anything we’d have to do it all ourselves. They set up our cake table incorrectly which resulted in our cake table collapsing and our cake falling to the ground. This meant we were unable to cut our wedding cake on the day. We had an elderly guest fall over due to a health and safety breech. Prior to our guest falling, this was flagged to a member of the Colwick Hall staff, however the response was that they were again too busy to help. Given that we expected the temperatures on the day to be hot, we'd asked for the doors in the marquee to be kept open, this was not done. So when our guests arrived, the marquee was unbearably warm, we had a lot of complaints from our guests, especially those with young children. When we requested Colwick Hall to help with this, they told us to go to reception ourselves to solve the matter - not really possible when you're the couple getting married? We were told we had full use of the kitchen and the washing facilities on the day. We didn't want our guests to be using plastic glasses, and had already rented cocktail glasses, so wanted these to be used. When we ran out of the cocktail glasses, a staff member actively stopped us from using the washing facilities we were initially promised. After the wedding day, we did write to Colwick Hall to flag these points with the hope of resolving the issue. We never received a response with any responsibility or even an apology. Instead after several conversations with them, they offered us £150 (we had trusted them with our special day and already spent over £10k with them, plus our cake costed us close to £1,000). Finally after much battles, we caved and took the £150, however that was on the basis our original review was removed!! We’ve attempted to resolve the matter and speak to management, however they have continued to ignore our efforts to resolve the matter. I can appreciate things go wrong on such big events, however I am truly disappointed with how Colwick Hall handled the event on the day and how little responsibility they have taken through the conversations after. I would strongly recommend anyone who is looking at Colwick Hall to think twice about trusting them with such a special day.

Had a lovely time celebrating my wonderful friend engagement blessing. The drinks took a while to get sorted. BUT The food was lovely once they started serving and plentiful. I would definitely return. I'd love to try the afternoon tea. Was surprised they now charge for parking, though so be prepared. Beautiful decor and decorations. I would recommend 👌

Had afternoon tea recently, lovely setting, great food. Such a shame that you have to pay for parking when spending over £100 on afternoon tea.

We were at Colwick Hall gor afternoon tea for friends birthdays. The hall is close to the river Trent and ideal for a walk through the nearby country park. The food was very nice and the service excellent! The tea and coffee were bottomless and we definitely made the most of that! The only negative is that the hotel charges for parking. I know it is only £3 but that is per 24 hours so if you were staying at the hotel it could mount up.

Stayed at Colwick Hall as a guest for my friends Wedding. The rooms were huge, clean and very comfortable. Service was great with nothing being a problem. Although the Wedding was not at the venue we came back from the reception and was given extra service above and beyond. Thanks from Australian traveller

We had Afternoon Tea the building itself is beautiful as is the interior decoration. The afternoon tea itself was nice however, the coffee was stewed and I feel I would of preferred less sweet and more savoury items. The grounds are very dilapidated and in need of a gardener and I think it is really bad that to use the hotel car park when visiting the hotel you have to pay £3. Its not the money but the principle.

My partner and I have been planning our wedding reception celebration. We have been looked after by the fabulous Geetha, who has catered and tailored to our every need. She really has been such a help, with her friendly kind manner, providing us with all the information we needed and/or asked for. Our celebration isn't until August, but thanks to the wonderful staff at Colwick Hall Hotel namely Geetha, we are so so excited and are so at ease with everything have been sorted in such a timely way. Thank you so kindly. Exceptional team!

Very disappointing! We chose Colwick Hall for afternoon tea based on the website photographs which in no way represent what you are actually served. The outside of the teapot was badly stained, the sandwiches were very poor with tasteless fillings, the scones were dry and the cream and jam were presented in old, tarnished clear plastic beakers which looked appalling. We have been to many different venues and have never experienced such poor presentation or quality of food, especially for a 4 star hotel. I don’t like to leave such a negative review but for £75 for three people, there are so many other better places to go. I would add that the staff were very friendly.

Lovely hotel in old building (so don’t expect floor to be totally flat!) I booked in for a night and ended up staying an extra day. My room was lovely (Georgian shutters and windows that open - far better than modern sweat box hotels) the staff are lovely and really friendly

Not what we expected. The location is beautiful and colwick hall is beautiful but the afternoon tea wasn't. I've noticed there's a white fluff in my jam pot. Our waitor claimed there was no fault with the jam, I had to pick out fluff in order for them to supply us with a new pot. The cutlery was also in poor condition too. We've paid deposits but the manager presented us the full bills. We had to tell him that we've paid the deposits.

Came for high tea. Seems over priced for what you actually get. Had to also pay for parking. Not a lot of sandwiches available, the cakes were not the best quality however the scones were great and the staff were friendly.

This review should be taking maturely food is average, not spectacular, but the thing to worry about is staff attitude, no interpersonal skills, nor they know a way of dealing with people, hoovering near customers and serving people behind, and level they talk to customer is steert trash, food is arguably NOT fresh & is challenge anyone who try to prove this wrong The chef who i'd give it 5/10 no more sorry guys 27th Oct repky--- sorry your response is not even grammatically correct English, not trying to judge anyone on personal level , it's a work related thing, I tell you what if i notice something changed next time I'm happy to change this , but till then this is something you'dneed todo from your end
