we thought we would give this fish and chip shop a go, but we will not be going back the fish should have been medium more like small and batter was very hard like it been sitting around for a while, not freshly cooked..The chips were also a small portion and loads of very small hard bits. We have eaten fish and chips in loads of places around the country and this was one of the worst and the most expensive,

Came here on way back from Beach. Shop empty about 3pm. Ordered small cod and chips £9.70!! Got back and when opened just a tiny piece of fish with what were supposed to be chips. Dried up started life the night before I guess. Inedible. Tried to phone 6 times no one answered so took it back to shop and got my money back. She also overcharged me because there was a lunchtime offer on same meal Plus a drink for about £6!! Will not be repeating that.

Had to leave a review for this place. On holiday from Stoke and this is by far the best fish and chips I have ever had. Had the smaller portion at £6.25 for a fish and chips and more than enough. Absolutely brilliant thick gravy, the lady is from Sheffield so knows her stuff when it comes to gravy. Fish cakes and fish incredibly crispy. Curry sauce proper chip shop stuff. 10/10 all round. Would recommend!!

Great selection of gluten free options and all done in separate fryers. Wife had the chicken bites which was a real treat and really enjoyed them. Will return again if we are ever in Clacton again

Called in whilst on holiday and ordered fish n chips. All freshly cooked to order. Reasonably priced and great service too. Highly recommended

Tasty steaks. Good portion sizes. Good selection of dishes. Dessert chocolate and pecan tart was a bit disappointing but fine. Staff were great, fantastic service. Wine very expensive. Though £35 for a bottle of Proseco was a bit over the top, but suppose you expect the price in a hotel.

Lower Marine ParadeI was surprised by the reviews on here. The poor reviews were definitely not our experience. We booked in advance and requested a table with a view, which was kindly honoured. The gentleman who seated us was charming. We did have a bit of a wait for a menu but it was a busy lunch service. We all ordered the fish and chips. The portion was huge with a very tasty piece of lightly battered fish and twice cooked chips. None of us managed to finish everything! The dessert menu included pancakes (it was Shrove Tuesday) so we shared two portions with lemon and sugar. Again, generous portions! All in all, a great lunch and we left very full.

7 Riverside Ave WWe got there at 4pm and ordered haddock and chips. We have used this takeaway for years and always enjoyed the food however on this occasion it was barely edible. The haddock was a weird dark colour and was dry and tough, chips and batter were soggy. Absolutely disgusting. Think we were given reheats from the lunch service.
