Atmosphere and service was excellent we went for the Sunday roast and we got the mixed roast and was very nice id highly recommend

Had the roast dinner here and it was delectable. I’d recommend the beef and the veggies were perfect. Great price for the portion and quality of food. Service was fast and friendly

Not being a massive Indian foodie I opted for a meal from The Grill, I had Garlic King Prawns and wow they were awesome, husband also had a meal from The Grill, he had the lamb chops, which just melted in your mouth, Bob the owner is very friendly and made us feel very welcome, will definitely visit again

Had booked a table but restaurant was closed even the cleaner would not ans door to us...tried to contact them.but they ghosted me...ALSO GOT A PARKING TICKET FROM THERE CAR PARK AS UNABLE TO ENTER NUMBER IN TO ERNTER MACHINE YET AGAIN TRIED TO CONTACT THEM BUT NO RESPONCE ...TAKEN TO.THE PRESS NOW DONT BANK ON A TABLE EVEN IF U BOOK SHAM OF A COMPANY

So me and my partner walk in and get greeted by the waiter who looked out of it. He came to the table and asked if we wanted to order three times after we had already ordered. Diet Coke and Coke £3 a go for a can the Diet Coke came flat and warm. We asked for buffet as it stated on their fb page 6-9 Wednesdays 18.95 per person he said not today and then the table next to us asked for it and they said yes. It was the main reason we booked here for a valentines meal. The samosas were under cooked onion Bajhis were burnt and no flavour at all. Naan bread had barely any bread was just pure crisp. Really bland food. Got the bill couldn’t read any of the writing no prices on nothing was charged £55 for god knows what. Disappointed ruined a valentines night out rare night out without the kids. Such a shame. Weird music kept cutting in and out through the meal was strange vibe. owner seemed nice though.

My husband and I went on a Sunday night for the buffet at £18.95 each. When we first entered we didn't get a proper welcome, it felt like the staff didn't care. We were shown to our table, plenty of space and enough privacy to feel intimate. Food was average but nothing special. I had a seat looking at the kitchen and I am pretty sure I saw our rice come out of the microwave. We didn't have to wait long for our food considering there was only 2 other groups dining. Overall, overpriced for what it is and would expect a better experience for the price we paid. However, we had plenty to eat and enjoyed various dishes. Strongly recommend doing the buffet as you get better value for money.

Bit slow but it was busy so only gave 3 stars.

Fantastic restaurant , large open seating, you're not sitting 2ft from the next table, clean and tidy inside. They do a buffet that is a set menu each as much as you like. The last time was £18.95 but it has been cheaper. I have eaten a lot of Indian food over the years, and I really rate this place. It's in my top 3 Indian restaurants. Bob and his team make all the effort to make you feel welcome and never rushed. I would give Sunday buffet a go and see how you enjoy the food. "It's banging"

Booked a table for 4 people for the opening time of 1.30 on Sunday afternoon. We arrived shortly before that time and it was all closed, just a lady in there doing the hoovering. We were happy to wait outside for the 5 mins opening time but 10 mins later still no sign of anyone coming to open up. Tried to get the attention of the staff member but she completely ignored us then disappeared from sight out the back. We then tried to phone the restaurant to find out what was going on but no answer. They were obviously not going to open so we had to make other plans. The restaurant had taken our booking and phone number and didn't have the decency to let us know they were not going to open, they were happy for us to wait outside in the cold, wondering what was going on. We wrote a msg on their own Colchester Spice website to say we were unhappy with their service but no surprise they deleted it within a few mins. Obviously will not be booking to go there again if this is the way they treat their customers.

NICE INDIAN RESTAURANT, It's my go to Indian restaurant, food always good quality, warmest welcome, clean n tidy always, been 3 times in 2 months, Points . 1 - easy to park 2 - buffet for under £15, has been as little as £11.95 3 - friendly so friendly 4 - I recommend you try, food will not disappointed 5 - English grilled food too I would feel comfortable going straight from work or booking a family event. It's just great. My personal favourite. Give it a try instead of cooking, £15 all you can eat buffet " come on " thats gotta be worth trying it once,

Booked in advance for a family birthday, was advised that the price was £14.95 . Food was fine nothing fantastic. Bill arrived and was charged £18.95 , we queried it but the staff said that was the price . I paid it as I felt awkward but left no tip. Feel conned

We booked for tonight at one price, but when the bill came, was at higher price, they said it was correct, not happy at £16 extra, but “ if “ we go again, will clarify price on arrival, the advertise on FB a price but don’t give it on the day. So beware, food is good, but a scam going on the price lets them down.

Beware everyone. They charge extra in bill to fool you. Always check the receipts. Staff and food both are worst. Never visit this place. Had horrible experience yesterday.

Over hour late and got told printer not working asked for money back and got nothing as I said didn’t want food - not reimbursed

Poor observation from staff, they had an event so should have employed more staff to cater for other diners. We asked for condiments in 3 occasions and were given bottles instead of condiment bowls. The food was bland, whole chicken was over £30 but the size of the pieces were very small. Would I go there again, definitely not. Should have saved my money for nandos

The food here was superb but the actual service let us down considerably. Seemed to have lots of staff but took almost half hour to order! Also the tables were back to back with each other and consequently we had a very loud group behind us so we couldn't hear the singer.

Ordered takeaway as usual Indian was closed. Checked reviews and all good. Order was over 45 mins late and food was so bland, a total waste of money ! The vegetable vindaloo had zero heat or flavour, just few vegetables and quite dry. The saag paneer had strange sweet aftertaste and lamb chewy. Really disappointed and would not recommend or use again to be honest, maybe it would be better to dine in with the entertainment that would make it appear better. Really was the worst Indian I have ever had in Colchester.

Food was mediocre went as a family of 13 for a birthday, the bill was given to us at £288 but when we paid separately the total came to over £330. Staff are rude, grabbing plates away abruptly. Won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend.

I did make a reservation but really didn't need it as we were the only ones in the restaurant, we opted for the all you can eat menu. to be honest the difference between the buffet style and normal menu price wise is minimal, we compared with what we had to the normal menu and it was only £3.50 less. the only thing is the buffet menu is very limited (basic). The portions are very good and Allan the host bagged up our left overs to take away which they don't normally do for buffet lunch. They run tribute nights which we will book in the future as the acts seem quite good plus they do girls night, prosecco all night and a lads night(cobra lager) i would like to go to an evening seating to give a full review but this restaurant can be interesting.

We went here because we loved the bengal diner and it is now running out of Colchester spice. Delicious, fresh food and large portion sizes…. We will be back!

Came to Colchester to do a survey. Ate here for 4 nights. Food was some of the best I have tasted and I eat a lot of curry. 22 in a row is my record. Staff friendly. Highly recommend.

Just had the most amazing takeaway from Colchester Spice. Don't know how you do it,but every time we eat there the food is always superb and today's takeaway was no exception. Absolutely faultless, thankyou very much.

Had dinner here on mother's day. They were short staffed but attentive and friendly. We ordered chicken tika starters which were delicious. Our currys and side dishes were ok but not the best we've had. Would go again but think their tandoori and tika dishes are the ones to go for.

I found the food to be very nice and tasty. I am vegetarian and this place has many options for vegetarians. Staff are friendly and polite. They obliged my request and made my orders extra spicy as per my request. Great service.

Since The Ashiana changed hands, and in our opinion went down hill, our family have spent the past couple of years in a curry wilderness, searching fruitlessly for a replacement. Last night's meal at Colchester Spice was superb, tender succulent lamb, great Dahl, excellent service in a warm & friendly environment. Definitely going to be our regular from now on.

Food was lovely as always is.... however won't be ordering again as delivery driver advised us that we could of ordered from elsewhere as the 30 min drive was inconvenient to them. Shame as food is beautiful.

Failed to deliver complete order. Phoned restaurant, they said they would deliver missing item. An hour later, nothing. Went through the chat, and they basically accused us of lying, saying delivery was made. Never going back to this takeaway.

Never ordering from here again. Failed to deliver complete order - when we complained they said they'd deliver remainder of order, which then never arrived. When we complained a second time they accused us of lying, and stated they'd delivered the food. I have no idea who they delivered it to, if they even bothered to, but it wasn't us. The food may have been mostly okay, but the service appalling and frankly rude.

First time dining here tonight, food was delicious, portions more than adequate and service 5* Mons the lovely waiter couldn’t do enough to welcome us, so friendly and kind. Top man 🤩 We will Definitely be back!

Spacious, open venue with very hospitable staff. Menu was very broad with your regular Indian Menu on one side and the speciality Grill section on the opposite side. The Rickshaw was an added bonus to compliment the decor, and youngest daughter enjoyed taking some pictures. We were a group of 14, and the overall order was very mixed. Food arrived together and in good time, while the portions were very reasonable. Everyone enjoyed their meal and overall quite pleased to have experienced it. One small recommendation for the management or chefs would be to use slightly less Naga sauce for spicing up the dishes. My Peri Peri which was supposed to be Madras strength was very much a vindaloo or more🥵. Besides the spicing all in a good evening out, would recommend others to try. Personally will visit again.

Ordered for delivery, wasn't quite as expected (rice noodle). They sent wide noodles and expected thin ones. Called and was just advised this was a rice noodle and not sorted.

Fresh, delicious and quality food!

The food turned up an hour and 15 minutes late. Then when we opened it all up we found that it was swimming in oil. The food wasn’t fresh at all. The onion bhajis were like mush. And my bhuna was disgusting and looked nothing like a bhuna. Will not be ordering from them again.

Ordered food from this place on Easter Monday ,had to wait 2 hours for food that was borderline inedible. Very disappointed with this quality of food and the managers lack of responsibility. Would not recommend

I got the Chicken Wings from the Meat Heaven section for delivery. On the listing it says it comes with fries, salad and 8 wings. I exchanged the fries for curly fries and the salad for coleslaw. The taste is very good. I’ve ordered here several times now and each time I ordered it was very taste. One improvement I would suggest is that they should include complementary sauces like garlic and chilly. Second time I got the fillet Stake with mushroom sauce and that was fantastic

Ordered from just eat last night as the ratings were very good. Curry arrived 25 mins early which is always a bonus, however this is where it stops - the bhaji and chips were stale (reheated many times) the pilau rice was mushy and a funny colour. Will not be using again

Ordered from Colchester spice this evening. Waited over an hour and 45mins. Was really watery, the naan bread was hard. Just generally not great at all.

I thought I would try the curry from here as it’s a new place and more local to me, A big WOW, food was tasty and had a flavour and the delivery service was excellent on time and the food was still hot. Keep it up guys thanks, your my local now
