First time visiting this restaurant. I had a plate of pasta as fid 2 others on our party. One had fish and chips. We had wine. Recommend you buy the bottle of wine as per glass it's expensive. Food was tasty but can't rave about it because I felt it was all too expensive for what it was. Very busy for a Tuesday evening and you def have to book - which contradicts my review as obviously a very popular place. There's a busy ambience - even midweek. It's the type of place you would want to pop into regularly for an informal plate of food but, in my opinion, it's too expensive for that purpose. Unfortunately I wasn't as impressed as I wanted to be to ensure return.

We travel up to Glasgow occasionally for the football and for a few years now we always book a table at Coia’s for a post match meal. The staff are very friendly, the food is excellent and we love the atmosphere particularly on a Saturday evening, it has a great vibe . Oh and the breakfasts are the best .

We initially stopped here briefly for a snack and a drink in the middle of the day.. The food and service was really impressive. The next night we went to another Italian place near St George square which was pretty ordinary. Tonight, we returned to Coia’s for dinner and it was brilliant.. the service was amazing.. so quick and attentive. The food was brilliant (I had the spaghetti carbonara and the wife had the gnocchi).. good portion sizes and cooked to perfection.. and the prices were very reasonable (despite a previous review saying they are overpriced). The wife and I had a main meal and 3 drinks each and walked out only £60 lighter..

Such a perfect spot on duke street. Great outdoor seating with plenty of space and inside is also large and very busy with a nice atmosphere. Very nice toilets with Italian translations playing. Service from start to finish 10/10. We all had two course lunch £15. Chips were amazing fresh chippy chips without the grease. Triple cheese Mac was best Iv ever ate with perfect portion size and cheese nicely burnt on top how it should be which is hard to get good classic mac. Fish and chip lovers won’t be disappointed. Price was fair for portion, deal and quality and for four people with soft drinks was great price.

We recently visited coias cafe for the first time and we cannot recommend it more. The food was outstanding! Service was also spot on! My two teenage boys cleared their plates - which is rare. What has happened to this place?? Previously I have rated this place 5 out of 5. The prices have since gone through the roof while the quality has gone down hill. Shrimp Bang Bang was prawn in batter smothered with a jar of prawn Marie sauce. Don't get me started on the seafood linguine at £23 which contained 3 prawns and 2 scallops. Washed down with a pint of draft Morreti at nearly £9. Shame because it has a great atmosphere but I'm not willing to pay these prices for mediocre food. Will not be back for a long time.

Food was nice enough nothing particularly outstanding but wow very expensive! Typical pasta dish £15, starters mostly £10 and desserts all £10. Personally i think £10 for a slice of cheesecake in the East end of Glasgow is pricey. Wouldn’t drive past city centre to go again im afraid.

Nice meal, but a bit on the expensive side. Enjoyed an early evening meal out with a friend here. Was a bit apprehensive about gluten free options as it didn't look from the online menu that there would be much available, however was pleasantly surprised. I ordered gluten free pasta with chicken and mushrooms and it was really tasty. They also offerd to make gluten free garlic bread, which was a great option to have, and when it arrived it was delicious. Drinks were on the expensive side, but then I think that's just the case everywhere these days. We finished off sharing a dessert - a gluten free caramel/apple cake - all very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful, if a little too attentive - sometimes whipping away the dishes as you were putting your fork down, but I suppose it's better that way than being left for ages. Would definitely return because the gluten free experience was very positive.

Food was ok but prices on menu do not reflect prices you have to pay so be warned, Fish supper is £5 more expensive than is noted so dont know about other prices but probably all more than you expect. One staff member hovered about very uncomfortable, asked me how my food was just as it was placed down then interrupted me on a call to ask if i wanted another drink when it was clear i was no where near finished the one I had. I did query price difference politely when I received the bill and was somewhat held hostage (they actually stood in my way at the door as I tried to leave) when they explained It was MY fault as i hadn't refreshed the cookies on my internet browser, ( wonder how you refresh the cookies on a paper menu ?) checked today and the price still reflects the price I was expecting not the price I paid so an obvious scam I fear. Disappointing

My friend and I both ordered stornoway black pudding and poached egg but the crostino was rock hard. I just managed to cut through mine and it literally pinged across my plate, but my friend's was even tougher. Have eaten here a good few times over the years and always impressed, but not so much on this occasion. Their Italian sausage penne is fine, nice kick to it but that seafood macaroni is absolutely disgusting. I would be astonished if that wasn’t canned lobster, which ruined the dish. It smelled off. If you’re going to serve canned fish, just take the item off the menu. Getting fish from half way around the world is not good practice. It had a stringy texture. Even minus the seafood, it wasn’t good macaroni cheese. Our guests enjoyed their carbonara, but it’s such an easy dish to make. The wings were fine as well. It’s a shame about the seafood dish as that used to be the best thing coias made - we used to order the seafood linguine - which is no longer on the menu. But if they are going to send out dishes like that macaroni, please just take it off the menu

Really disappointing experience here. We haven’t been in a few years but previously always loved it. But we booked a table, eventually got seated 40 mins later. Our waiter was good(ish) and our starter served quickly but took another 40 mins for our main courses to then come out. And the food just wasn’t good. But despite the delays it all felt rushed and they asked us how our meal was despite one of us not having theirs yet. It was meant to be a nice family meal but we wish we’d stayed home. It’s great to see a place so busy but they need to be able to cope better with the customers they have as it wasn’t a pleasant dining experience in any way

Glasgow is supposed to be one the friendliest places in the country, But not I when you visit Coias cafe Denniston, Glasgow. A well established claimed business since 1928, the with service being the rudest in the country. The young heavy chap approached my self and my client who is from Italy, Florence, about 5-6 mins later at reception. It was a full house with no social distance going on here. This staff member brushed by me in this hot and sweaty environment. When I asked for a table for a table , the chap look at his next sitting list of 3 tables coming in , with 5 tables free. ' you can sit here ' pointing to a table by the cold drafty door, obviously I declined. So the reply was, ' we're too busy', and walked away without an apology or a good by greeting. That was it, staff just looked over for a few seconds more before we left to go next door to Tibo cafe few doors along. (Seperate ***** great review I've put on there page). The Coia experience was now past with it being hard to swallow such bad mannerism(one for Mr Coia and family to look at).

Every time we eat at an Italian restaurant- it always falls short in comparison to Coias cafe, their food has kind of spoiled us for eating pasta elsewhere. Their seafood pasta dishes are the best I’ve ever had, and we keep going back. Their Con Gamberi prawns are so fresh, large and in a class of their own- they are not these tiny shrimps you get at other places from a jar. Superbly fresh quality. The staff here are brilliant! They have a queue of visiting diners and a queue of others. Thankfully we'd booked. We were seated quickly and at the table had all a carte menu's on hand. We didn't really have much time to look at drinks before being asked to order. I checked about layers on draught and my companion were delighted to be offered the chance to 'taste' their preferred wine before buying. We then turned our attention to the food menu. We ordered a mix of OriginalBruchetta, Deep Fried stuffed Mushrooms and Bruchetta with Prociotto and Mozzarella as starters, then went for a veggie tagliatelle, a margharita pizza with extra veggie haggis, a tagliatelle bolognaise and a half portion of penne contadina.. The starters were amazing! Each morsel was 'hoovered ↑' very quickly.

Been here loads over the years for both dinners & take aways. Food and service has always been great until this morning. We both chose the “breakfast your way” choosing probably 5 or 6 items each, the waiter did not write any of this down and when both breakfasts came they were totally wrong, items missing & items we hadn’t asked for. We did finally get the correct order but had to wait while the items we had sat getting cold. The restaurant was not busy & no one came back to ask how everything was or if we needed any more drinks or even offered an apology for the mess up. We also felt the waiter was quite rude and abrupt which is surprising as this was his fault & the staff are always usually great. The food was good but so disappointed with the service.

Great Ambience, and fantastic food . The customer service is always spot on and there is a great buzz about the place .A good mix of customers suitable for families ,friends , a works night out and Birthday celebrations too. It is always welcoming and comfortable , the menu suits all including the very fussy eaters . The seafood dishes are brilliant, a varied menus of pasta dishes , steaks to traditional Scottish food you are never stuck for choice. The best place to eat in the east end of Glasgow well worth the visit.

Here a few times a year, always busy, got a nice warm table though, Monday lunch, amazing Mac Cheese, partners fish mix dish is his thing, whatever the chef has done to the mac cheese, it was lovely. good price, not having a starter does make the bill ideal.

Was visiting my in-laws in Glasgow - my father-in-law and his brothers grew up & worked in the area of Coias (which led to a chat down memory lane with one of the owners once we were there !!) and so decided on lunch before Christmas. I did not know what to expect but it was amazing - warm & welcoming we had a booth opposite the kitchen which allowed us sight of the chefs at work but was not a distraction. They have a generous selection of drinks and a delicious variety of food on the menu - decisions decisions !!!! They also had a special Christmas menu but we opted for choices from the regular menu this time. My husband is a vegetarian and had no trouble selecting a vegetarian haggis calzone which although large, he finished !! The rest of us had various choices all of which were delicious. And then there was dessert ... and I had the BIGGEST meringue you have ever seen with cream. It was a lovely end to a superb meal. We lingered a little - the restaurant was busy but we didn’t feel rushed & the staff were friendly, very knowledgeable and attentive throughout.

Had a terrible dinning experience at Coia’s Glasgow. Food was salty, oily and starters were burnt. Mozzarella dippers were empty? When we were asked how the food was we gave our feedback and the ‘owner’s son’ wasn’t bothered and did not take any comments into consideration. He chucked the bill at us and said that was his ‘final price’. He was very rude and had no customer service skills. Don’t bother going wasn’t worth the price.

I have been to eat at Coias many, many times over the years for various 'family meal' occasions, more recently my birthday celebration on the 28th of September. The owners were not present at the time and the 'mantle' was taken up by the younger members of the family. A seamless transition-well done to them all ! I find when you go to Coias you are always guaranteed good portions, great prices, value for money and 'OUTSTANDING' service. Unlike where I live in N.Ireland where you buy a kebab on the way home due to the portion sizes, want to strangle at least one member of staff for their attitude and arrange an overdraft to pay the bill. This is not the case in Coias ! Another 'string to their bow' is that they do Hampers for every occasion whether it be 'Festive',Birthday or just a gift. Very reasonably priced, well presented and the contents well thought out. My recommendation to anyone reading my review when stuck for an idea what to buy someone for a present-is contact Coias. I'm due back to Scotland next month and I am already looking forward to my next visit back to Coias. Thank you for everything !!!!!!!!!!!

Have been to Coias Cafe many times and it’s consistency across all fronts is its strong point. The three main areas you’d look for in cafe dining including food, setting and service are exceptional. The menu choice is extensive but not dauntingly complicated. Be warned, portion sizes are more than generous and the food is piping hot!

Waited around an hour for our food to be brought out. Lasagne was slightly burnt. Pasta sauce was watery. Apple crumble was severely undercooked, manger came over and apologised and explained that the whole batch had been undercooked so he could not serve any other apple crumble to us. Offered us another dessert which we declined. Overall table manor of the waiter was pretty poor throughout the night. We spent £99 on a meal which was less than average and without any desserts. We weren’t given any compensation for our bad experience. Whilst in the restaurant we also heard another customer complaining. I handed in a “how was your experience card?” Before we left explaining how our experience was poor and we weren’t happy with the service we received. I also wrote that we were offered no compensation for the fact our desserts were so undercooked it was like flour inside instead of crumble! Then at 10pm that night I was phoned off of one of the managers who said that “he was away upstairs to get us a voucher but when he came back down we had left” but he had walked past our table 3 times before we left. So I do not believe he was away to get us a voucher. He explained that it was a very busy night and apologised for our experience. I understand places get busy but that should not affect the quality of food or service by staff. I will not be inclined to go back to Coias anytime soon!

My 12 year old daughter & I visit Coias as a treat before her auditions for singing. We both love this restaurant, not just for the food, but also for the excellent waiter service. We are always treated kindly, and there's no problem with taking home left-overs as the portions are generous. We both enjoy the pizzas, Coias are happy to make my favourite has rocket and spicy chicken amongst other things.

When we came, the restaurant was very busy. We were offered a table for 50 min only as we didn't book in advance. 25 min of 50 min given we were waiting for our order. Unfortunately, we have never got an additional glass of water and beer that we ordered. We didn't get upset over the omission, ok, this happens to everyone at some point or another.

We were there for a family dinner and it couldn’t have been any better. We ordered pastas, chicken and a burger and all agreed it was fabulous. We ended with a cheesecake for dessert to take home and a bowl of the delicious ice cream and raspberry sauce to share between us. This reminded us of the trips into Coia’s when we were children and ready for ice cream, the taste took us back to those times. Wow!!

Hadn’t been here for a few years and visited today for lunch. The lunch menu is incredible value, £12:95 for three courses and the food was superb. Starters were bruschetta and pate, both excellent. Main courses Italian sausage pizza and bolognaise al forno again excellent, for dessert Tiramisu and sticky toffee sundae both fantastic. All in all incredible value for excellent food, definitely going back sometime soon.

Absolutely atrocious service. I went in to buy some pastries for my colleagues for breakfast; another customer barged in front of me while I was looking at the pastries on offer… so the staff member asked “who’s next” (well he should have known); when I pointed out it was my turn, he argued it was this other customer’s turn… sorry but if you were so adamant you knew whose turn it was, why did you even ask??? Anyway I politely pointed out it was my turn, I was told it wasn’t (it was), and then after standing my ground, I had to hear them apologise to the other customer… for real??? All of this to get charged £7 for 4 mini sfogliatelle that were actually so rotten that my Italian colleagues thought I was trying to poison them; they were literally dryer and crumblier than Rishi Sunak’s cabinet. What a joke.
