Cofton Chippy in Teignbridge

Not great. They don't serve Cod, only Haddock 🫤. With two hungry kids in tow, my husband decided to order here instead of finding a good local chippy in Dawlish which we were going to do. It is, however, super convenient, quick & easy if you're onsite. The portions were quite small and the batter on the fish was a little 'powdery' and not particularly crispy but it was the haddock that really let this chippy down and my husband really didn't enjoy it after he'd been looking forward to fish & chips on holiday! Chips were okay though but kids sausages were quite salty. I'd probably recommend finding a good seaside chippy if you want good fish & chips. We went to one next to the train station in Dawlish which was MUCH MUCH better. Husband got his fish & chip fix in the end!

Been to site normally brilliant chippy but as it now in the crate it has been terrible the sausagues taste like cardboard the price is ridiculous my whole group thought it was sicly moaned at us when we go to our setup the chippy woman was very rude the chips were cold and ran out of everything absolutley shocking

The Colton chippy is currently closed due to a fire …we are staying on the site mid June and they have just boarded it up. Not sure when work to repair it will start .

Had a fabulous dinner here we had the fish, chips and mushy peas! Very clean and reasonably priced. All cooked to order the batter was lovely and crispy.

I stayed at Cofton Holiday park for two weeks from 11th September to 24th September 2022. The chip shop was hardly ever open. Not great when you see signage and leaflets in reception and around the site stating its open daily from 5pm. It was even closed on a Friday. Just imagine spending the day around the fishing lake or having a relaxed day around the site with a few evening drinks then planning to have a fish and chip dinner only to find the chip shop shut. Couldn't even drive to get dinner. The Chip Thief in Dawlish Warren is a great alternative, and it's cheaper.

Never open so can't review had to drive to Dawlish warren to get fish & chips planned when staying at the holiday park disappointed would have been handy no to have to drive !!

Very busy chip shop. Still delivers great food, friendly staff and very clean We went back a few times and still the same standard.

Chips and haddock very nice clean shop friendly staff very organised but very expensive 2 Chips 2 haddock 1 sausage nearly £30

The chips were good but the fish and sausage were just ok. Do not get the salt and pepper squid unless you want to be completely ripped off for 6 pieces for 7 quid!! It’s a shame but we won’t be returning and would rather drive off site to do better.

We use Cofton chippy whenever we stay at Cofton Holidays. It is well run, friendly staff and the food is always good. Clean, tidy and well organised. They take your order, give you a number and then you wait outside for your order to be prepared. We have had all different options from kebabs, to all kinds of fish, sausages and ofcourse chips. If your staying at Cofton holidays or even in the area we would recommend trying them.

Very good portion size. Good price. Nice chips. Quick service. Sadly no haddock but we know there is a shortage at the mo. Recommend if staying on site

Great cod and chips huge portions of chips used the take away a few times while staying as soon realised to order a small portion of chips as large would suit 2 people very quick would recommend

Terrible food. The chips were cold and hard and it took nearly half an hour for 1 portion! Extremely disappointing I’m just glad that we made the decision to have a Chinese delivered on previous days.

We went to the fish and chip shop last night on crofton holiday park Great value for money very clean the staff was very friendly and the food was great definitely going again the fish and chips was cooked perfectly batter was nice and golden and crispy the only downside we had was the chips portions was too big and we wasted some lol

Such good value for money also the cleanest chip shop I have ever seen ! it was spotless like a new pin and the curry sauce is to die for.

We enjoyed our fish and chips at the Cofton Chippy. Large portion of chips, beautifully cooked and good portion of cod. Efficient and well organised chippy. Friendly staff, good Covid protocol.

Popped in for the first time this year. The chips were fantastic and the seafood basket and cheese O's were a great addition. Staff were friendly and attentive. Real asset to a great site

Came here Wednesday night and yet again another lovely fish and chips!! Benches are great for us locals to sit and eat, after a lovely walk across the Country Park with the dogs

Lovely welcome and friendly service, honestly the best chips around love the fish too, we always treat ourselves a seafood basket! They now do deep fried hallumi and a selection of vegetarian/cheese options like mozzerella sticks and Monterey Jack cheese o's! So good!! A must visit if you're in the area or passing by! We're actually local and so pleased this beaut of a chippy is on our door step

We ordered fish & chips from here on a quiet night , the food was ok but it was expensive and it took an eternity to get it ! The lady in the shop was friendly enough, but the bloke was miserable and off hand ! Come on people are on holiday !!

I visited this chip shop on Monday and I went it and had such a lovely welcoming by a young lady had a nice conversation with her which was just a nice touch. The food was superb as always. When I have been previously has been very busy and can have a wait or food but 100% worth it. A very clean and tidy well run chip shop. 5* from me :)

Well they were just beautiful we shared a large portion and they were delicious, good menu to choose from and I loved the handy takeaway sure beats getting the car out. Yes it’s bit pricey but you do get what you pay for. The food across the whole site was delicious and generous

Stayed on site a number of times now and used the chippy at least once each time. Every meal I’ve had which includes fish and chips, chicken etc has always been great. Very generous portions and piping hot at a great price. Can’t fault it!

Clean and tidy shop, freshly cooked fish and chips which were delicious and not dripping in fat, had to have mushy peas and tartare sauce to compliment the meal. Prompt service and staff extremely friendly.

I visited Coften with my family been coming for years , chip shop has always been up and down but glad to have seen it’s the same people as last year. Definitely the best fish and chip shop we’ve been to! Never have a complain. Pleasant staff food always cooked to perfection. Definitely worth a visit you will not be let down.

Visited the Cofton Chippy whilst on holiday, it’s tradition for us to always have fish and chips when on holiday and these ones did not disappoint or let us down. Chips were lovely and cooked to perfection, fish was also nice. Only slight complaint is that our meals were absolutely drowned in salt and that did ruin the taste a little (even after trying to scrape some off!) but if there’s a next time we’ll just remember to ask for no salt!

Chips were ok, but that was before I realised that they were cooked in Palm Oil. A box of it was left in the window. I spoke to the staff and they didn’t understand the effect of using palm oil on the environment.

Had a really bad batch a few weeks back but decided to give it another chance.... I wish we hadn't. Not only was the cost of the food expensive it was also potentially the worst fish and chips I have ever had. The chips were dry and cardboardy and the fish (what there was of it) was over cooked and smothered in hard and dry batter.

Nice chippy with good selection of pies,fish etc nice curry sauce place was clean and well kept staff were very helpful.

We visited Cofton chippy with family when we recently stayed at Cofton, we all had excellent fish & chips, very tasty & nothing left afterwards.

Get small chips not large. You dont get that many more for the extra cost Put your own salt on as my kids said they put to much on Chips are loverly

The shop gets busy but worth the wait. Most of it is cooked to order. Haddock was lovely. Great if you don't want to cook while camping.

After watching England get to the Semi final and had few beers along the way we needed a quick tea .

What can I say was realy good but has gone downhill a lot. Family had takeaway had to take it back and get a refund it we so baf

Myself and my partner fancied fish and chips on our last night in Dawlish Warren. Had a look on trip advisor and seen this chip shop. We both had cod and chips and we were not disappointed. We had a box each and didn’t expect the amount of food that we received. We had 2 pieces of fish and loads of chips. Well worth the money. They weren’t greasy and very tasty. The fish was cooked fresh and that makes a huge difference to the taste. We had curry sauce and that tasted really good too. I’d definitely go here again and have food.

ofton Chippy have a good selection of food and they are always busy so be prepared to queue (especially in school holidays).

Hot, plentiful and value for money. Despite limited open times the Cofton Chippy is worth a visit if you're staying on the site.

As we were camping we took most of our food with us, but on our last night we decided the pull of the delicious smelling chip shop was too much, so we grabbed a large portion of chips to share. Large was the right word! At a bargain price too. Tasted just as good as they smelled:)

A small on site chippy, Good range of products if not slightly pricey, but clean and presentable. Products tried were all good and tasty.

Had fish n chips as the pub had a long delay on food. The fish was freshly cooked and delicious. The chips were also good. My only niggle, was the portion sizes. They were enormous. Even my husband who has a good appetite only managed half of it. The children's fish is the size of a normal adults. But overall very good tasty food at reasonable price.

Good chips, good fish. Not greasy quick cook sea side fare. Can't say better really. Nice portions all happy with their meals. Perfect for first night quick meal selection keeps everyone satisfied.

In my many past visits to Cofton, it has become tradition to follow up myself and family erecting our accommodation for our stay with a visit to the on site chippy. We were slightly disappointed to find on our latest visit, that the menu had been significantly simplified and reduced, with previous options for jacket potatoes and even breakfast during the summer removed from your choices. I will stress however that quality and quantity is, as always, fantastic and the prices reasonable. I understand that the reduction in the menu options may be because of the extensive options at the on-site restaurant.

Nice hot fresh Cod, good portion sizes but the chips had almost a burnt twang in taste even though they did not really look over cooked. Staff not that welcoming and when I asked to put my own salt and vinegar on he seemed really put out by this simple request, I thimk he may have a chip on his shoulder.Overall Fish - 8, Chips - 5, Staff member - 4.

Beautiful Fish and Chips, the fish was white and fresh and was so tasty, and the portion was huge, cooked fesh on ordering, friendly staff. and reasonable price, we really enjoyed it.

OK first night when you just got there just unpacked had a long day so you go to the chipy only had 2 cartons of chips they were ok get a fair amount for your money they were hot not greasy not a lot of bits some chipys you get more bits than chips staff were friendly and helpful it seems popular on the site so they must be doing some thing right.

Had fish and chips whilst staying at Cofton holiday park, overall very good. The batter on the cod was a bit greasy but the chips made up for this and were very good. Good price and quick service so would recommend.

You cant go wrong with the Fish and Chips, the fish are large and cooked fresh its worth waiting for also not to expensive The Owners are so polite and cheerfulHope to see them next year.

My family stayed on this site when visiting us in Dawlish several times. They introduced us to the onsite chippy. We are locals and fed up with the Dawlish town fish n chip shop quality we have now transferred allegiance to the Cofton chippy which is far better and reasonably priced. we recommend.

Amazing on site chip shop great selection for all and lovely to see normal prices which could easily have been high because of the location. Everything cooked fresh and the fish was amazing.

Lovely friendly staff, reasonably fast service. Good Portion sizes. Definitely worth a visit. Prices are slightly higher than in a town but it's what you expect from a private park.

Used this chippy twice on our holiday and would not hesitate to go again, all staff were very polite and friendly, fish was cooked beautifully, good honest prices for a holiday park. well done. Only down fall is they shut at 9pm.

Chippy literally seconds from anywhere on the site - its very clean indeed and efficient service. Cod and chips were totally yummy and at £6 - excellent value ! And it more than competes with anything off the site. Oh and the battered sausage is also worth a go :-)

While the Chips we had and the Sausage were fine the Cod was very,very greasy, the oil literally dripped off it and there was a puddle left in the wrapping from it. The score would have been higher if not for the Fish but sadly it was only average all round.

Bought chips to go with something we had cooked whilst touring and was impressed , had to wait a while as was busy but chips were tasty and non greasy and the fish looked good

During our 2 week stay at Cofton we used the chippy a number of times. My daughter went on most occasions and said that she felt going was an imposition, I thought as a teenager she was exaggerating however I went on our last day and felt exactly the same. Although the food was good the service was below par.

Service was lovely friendly staff,food was lush,everyone can always do with a good fish and chip shop on holiday.

Had fish and chips from here earlier this year as these guys took over and the portion size was fantastic. However just been back and the cod was more like a wafer thin slice and swimming in grease. It seems like you can only get a proper portion out of season when custom is harder to come by and standards need to be higher?

We came to Dawlish on a weekend brake and we were advised by some friends that we met there to try this chippy. We have tried a lot of chip shops on our travels over the years and I can honestly say the cod and chips were out of this world at a very reasonable price with great portion size. We can't wait to go to Dawlish again and get some more. The surroundings were well kept and clean and the staff were pleasant.
