Friendly staff, good coffee and atmosphere, food is nice too. Robbie always greets me with a smile and is always happy to answer any questions such as dietary information and making my coffee exactly as I like it. My go to place to get coffee between lectures or at the weekend, opening times are good too along with the reward app which gives you stamps for free coffee.

My boyfriend ordered me a caramel frappe whilst I grabbed a table and waitress didn't mention that it would have no coffee in it. It was a cup of milk, cream and sugar syrup that costs £3.85. I went up to ask why It didn't have coffee and they said it doesn't come with coffee, so I asked if I could get coffee in it (as its just pure sugary milk) , and they said yes but they'd have to charge me for a shot. Didn't expect to pay £2.20 just to add coffee to a milk and sugar. Absolute rip off and the waitresses were rude when I asked for the coffee. The drink still tastes awful but at least it's caffeinated! My boyfriends coffee is awful too, not strong and looks terrible. I am barista trained and the milk in his latte was not done correctly. Will not be back, staff are short with you and the prices are through the roof. Looks nice inside though, so a real shame.

The food/drinks are fine but the attitude of the manager leaves a lot to be desired - rude and off putting - staff need to work on basic courtesy. As a customer they make you feel like they are doing you a big favour serving you.

Dark hair waitress struggled to find our table initially. We smiled at her as she came over and she practically threw our meals down onto the table. Didn’t say a word, barely made eye contact with us and she didn’t even ask whose was who’s so I had my partners plate in front of me. Despite how rude she was, we still thanked her, she walked off grumpily and glared at us. This ruined our date and we felt very uncomfortable the entire time, we left earlier than we planned as we did not feel welcome. Later while we were eating we saw her walking through the cafe on her phone… how unprofessional. If you can’t do the bare minimum of being polite to customers then don’t work at a coffee shop! Would have given 5 stars if it weren’t for her as staff on the tills were lovely as was the peppermint tea and panini’s.

Second time I have experienced Terrible coffee here, ask for a latte only to receive what is more like a cappuccino, Nearly an inch of foam and the taste is biter most likely burnt coffee .Without doubt the worst latte I have had for some time , that's no mean feat considering just how many other bad coffees are available in Plymouth.

The coffee I recieved today tasted Burnt as if it had been Tampered too hard and I had wanted my stamp for the coffee but was not asked to scan. I had the app ready I have missed my stamp twice this way now. So unfortunately a little disappointed today.

Cafe is in an ideal location. Plenty of tables, even better if you can get one by the window with comfy seats. Food and drinks are srandard, teacakes and cakes are good. Everything is served takeaway style at the moment. Tables not cleared regularly and cups etc remained on tables from previous customers. My main concern however is dogs being allowed inside the cafe. No problem with owners sitting at outside tables with their dogs but surely it cannot be hygienic to have dogs inside. I noticed one owner letting her dog drink from its water bowl on the table!

We paid an unexpected visit to Coffee #1 after seeing the Wife’s Mother & Brother inside. Nice and clean with plenty of seating both inside and outside. Menu of both Hot and Cold Drinks was fairly extensive plus prices were very competitive with others in the Town Centre. The downside was the actual Coffee which I thought was harsh and bitter.Service was efficient and friendly however the main reason for any Coffee Shop visit - namely the Coffee was the let down for me.

We have been visiting coffee#1 at least twice a month since they opened and we have always enjoyed it but today was awful. It was fairly busy, with a long queue. I was about 6th in the queue but I was stood waiting to be served for at least 20 minutes. There doesn't seem to be any of the usual staff on, who are always quick and efficient. When I asked at the till if they were short staffed, the lady serving said no so I can only assume that they were just very inefficient. If there is a queue of more than 2 or 3 people next time I visit I shall just go somewhere else. I was very disappointed

There were several vacant tables outside and we are more comfortable with this at the moment. We ordered two cheese and tomato toasties, a flat white and vanilla latte. The coffees were ok….quite strong, even though the latte was a half shot. The toasties were very disappointing…..tasteless cheese and tough dried bits of tomato….we certainly won’t be back for those! Staff were pleasant enough and tables were clean.

I came here when it first opened, & came back hoping it had improved. I ordered 2 panini - 1 roasted Mediterranean vegetable, and 1 ham & cheese - a coffee and a smoothie. The drinks were fine. Unbelievably though, the panini were dreadful. They were both undercooked, as if someone had just walked them past an oven instead of actually cooking them. The cheese was not melted, and was still in slices and the ham was not even warm. However the most astounding thing was that the bottom of one half of the ham & cheese panini was completely missing! I took it back to the counter and was told (unbelievably) "Well you get it as it comes, but I'll do it again". So 5 minutes later, when my mother had finished her (cold) panini, mine arrived. Piping hot, cheese all melted, and the bottom BURNT TO A CRISP. Absolute joke. Suffice to say, I won't be going back again.

I am a loyalty card holder for coffee no1 because it was the best coffee in town, However in our last 2 visits we have been totally disappointed on both occasions,The first visit an obviously new staff member struggled to make 2 flat whites which were weak and tasteless but we said nothing and let it go. A week later once again ordered 2 flat whites. One was ok one too weak and tasteless. This time I took it back and the staff member just laughed but another member of staff replaced it with a drinkable offering. We have since found a very good independent coffee house. Shame.

I visited this coffee shop for the first time last week. It's a very pleasant coffee shop inside and the decor is very homely. I asked for two smaller size drinks which was what we got but on checking the receipt at home noticed that I was charged for two large drinks. I didn't like the taste of the coffee either, it didn't compare well with Cornish Coffee or Costa coffee. If I went there again I would try some of the other drinks on the drinks menu as they sound quite nice.

I was on the look out for a little cafe to pop into for lunch, as I prefer the more friendlier and independent cafes in comparison to costa, starbucks etc. It was quite busy and only 2 people working but both workers were very polite and the lady doing the coffee came and cleared the table for me as it had stuff on when I sat down. Having worked in a cafe myself, I really do appreciate how stressful it can get when it’s busy. Chicken, mozzarella and pesto panini and the white hot chocolate were delicious! This is the only coffee shop that we will use when visiting Plymouth. The coffee is of a high standard, always good and hot and well presented. Also the toilets, even though unisex are very clean. Will recommend and return.

This place is relatively newly opened in Plymouth and I can see why it has won some awards. The coffee is great and the sandwich that we had was nice. It also has some more unusual drinks esp if you are watching your sugar intake and offers a range of coconut drinks which is also great. Two negatives - it is pricey as all these coffee chains are and unfortunately it is on the shady side of the street so can't enjoy a coffee in the sun. But the relaxed seating inside will be great place to meet up in the winter months too.

Better than your average Plymouth coffee-house with range of grinds and a house coffee offer (that never seems to change but it's very nice). But it's the lovely display of wraps, cakes (including a sensational cheesecake), breakfast goods and treats that win over both in appearance and taste. Almond croissants that are slightly moist with almond creme-pat inside, that cheesecake and the portugese tarts are the highlights. The only grumble is consistency in the counter-service. Every cake served should have a spoon or fork with it and shouldn't mean another trip to a busy serving area to ask for cutlery. The free water from a dispenser is a nice touch though, the seating comfortable enough and the loos are clean.

This was our first visit to Coffee 1 and we were a little disappointed. I usually like my coffee fairly weak and often coffee shops will give me the shot of coffee separate, but not here! They just made me a weak milky mug of something, which was supposed to have been a vanilla latte! Not the best start, but perhaps another visit we will try the cakes as they did look nice. Another disappointment were the toilets! Two doors - one marked unisex and the other disabled / baby changing, both opening straight out onto tables where people were enjoying drinks and food! Why when this place was refurbished as a coffee shop did they a) Only supply one toilet for men and women to share, and b) Not put them in a more secluded place?

Good hot coffee a wide variety of soft drinks & nice cakes. Not particularly cheap (but tbh where is these days). Was very busy both times I've been in (weekday mornings) and very noisy. I could barely hear myself think let alone talk, but such is this fad for the high ceiling / loft apartment effect, which means no sound absorption. Mixed clientele, lots of pensioners but I suspect this may be different over the weekend. Trying to get served was also a pain - half of my order (on both visits) I had to take with me from till to table, the rest was to be brought over but on both occasions staff did not bring over the complete order. As it had just opened I thought I'd leave the review the first time & try again to see if it had improved. No such luck. Shame.

You now trip over these places predominently in the west of england. More easy going style and operation than the biggest lines of coffee shops. Our only experience in Plymouth so far has been of heavy crowds and polite earnest staff doing well to meet the demand. Not sure that we would seek it out as a regular option but would lean toward chosing it above the heavy weight competition. Can't help but feel that Plymouth is approaching a surfeit of chain cafes with a coffee bias.
