This is a lovely coffee shop right in the centre of Sutton Coldfield. They offer a good range of sweet and savoury eats and service is prompt and efficient even when busy. A special mention for Libby, who is always pleasant and welcoming. Focussed on great customer care, she is a credit to herself, her upbringing and her training.

Absolute shocker. Told after we paid that food was going to be a bit long, but hang on, 25 minute later and drinks drank, arrives the 2 panninis. Turkey and Cranberry (virtually no Turkey and baco. Was pink)and Tuna and cheese, (hardly no cheese) have a word with your supplier or try the product yourself.. No apology for delay and they were cooked to a crisp, we had run out of time to make a complaint, shame as the coffee shop had a welcoming atmosphere,

A spacious, air conditioned cafe with a great range of desserts and savoury products from which to choose. Service is prompt and efficient even in busy periods. A special mention for Assistant Manager Penny, who is always welcoming and delightfully interpersonal.

Consistently fast and efficient service in this coffee shop with a really good range of drinks and light bite options. A large well designed and comfortable interior adds to the relaxed atmosphere. A special mention for Maria, who is delightfully interpersonal and ever alert to customers’ needs.

“My friend and I was embarrassed by the waitress in the shop. We thought it looks accommodating coffee shop but instead the waitress was rude and discriminated us. Asked us to leave because my friend is holding a bag of KFC. No matter how I explained that we come in to enjoy a cup of coffee and cakes but insisted to leave. How rude! We are paying customers for goodness sake! Sutton Coldfield branch, you sucks! Failed to customer satisfaction.” In my eyes, you obviously don't have good moral customer service. All I get is embarrassment, offensive and unworthy treatment. Never in my 20 years in Britain that I am treated this kind of a behaviour in coffeeshop or anywhere else.

Amazing and friendly staff, very welcoming and amazing smoothies served. Dog friendly also !!! Everyone walks round with a smile on their face overall very good coffee shop

Very disappointing. Flat white utterly flavourless. Coffee shops really need to train their staff to make drinks properly, and not just tip incinerated milk on top of an espresso. Cakes very bland and flavourless. Won’t be returning.

The coffee is decent. The cakes are amazing, but I have concerns about cleanliness. I’ve been served cake on a dirty plate and I saw a member of staff placing cakes in the cabinet, wearing blue plastic gloves. Then she went downstairs, came back up, still wearing the gloves, sliding her hand up the banister, then went behind the counter, scratching and wiping her nose and then handling food! Such a shame. Having witnessed that, I’m not going to eat there again. Sometimes the staff can also seem a bit rude.

Called for a coffee today. We'd been here a few years ago and enjoyed it, but I don't know if there was a problem with the equipment today as the experience was awful. The coffee looked like dish water and was very weak and flavourless. The only good thing was the Portuguese custard which was lovely. Will go elsewhere on our next visit.

Well I was quite excited to go in this coffee shop - it looks very smart and inviting. I really fancied a coffee and a cake. My friend ordered but the man serving her was so rude and obnoxious to her, and shouting towards his colleagues, we just had cold drinks. The staff manning the tills were miserable and rude - I’d rather bring a flask!

Nice coffee place and friendly staff, comfy chairs and clean throughout, a few coffee places in the area so plenty of choices but this is up there with them.

Visiting Sutton on one of our periodic sojourns, we went into Coffee#1 for a break. The male barista greeted us immediately and engaged me in very pleasant light conversation whilst he dealt with our order. His interest in us as customers certainly made an enjoyable change from the, at times, indifferent, even surly attention we have suffered in some coffee houses. Well done Coffee#1, keep it up.

This is a lovely independent-style coffee shop with plenty of seating inside and some outside seating. It feels nice and spacious and is beautifully decorated. The staff are really helpful and make suggestions if you don't know what drink you want. The cakes are tasty and the sandwiches are really good. My only reason for putting 4 stars is that they don't seem to have back-up sandwiches so when the vegetarian and vegan sandwiches run out, there's nothing for vegetarians or vegans to eat.

Really friendly staff and the best vanilla latte I have ever had,will definitely be returning and would recommend a trip there to anyone.

I came here last saturday. however the service was very slow. i joined the queue and expected to wait. but not 30 minutes. when i got my carroy cake the plate that it was served on had cheese stuck to it on the side and it was under the cake. the staff memeber just moved the cake to one plate to another without changing it! that is really disappointing as i like coffee 1 but this stores standards are slowy dropping. coffee tasted really bitter aswel

It's always a challenge finding coffee as good as our home city of Sydney, Australia. We were visiting family in Sutton Coldfield and after a few cups of milky water in the other coffee chain shops we were very glad to find Coffee #1. It was very good although we didn't get a chance to sample a lot of their food the cakes and pastries looked tastyy. Nice decor and really friendly staff, so glad we found this cafe.

Have been to this café a number of times and it's always clean and the staff are efficient and friendly. The coffee is very good and the Victoria Sponge is excellent (much better than in the House of Fraser café.

I pop into this cafe once a week either on my own or with friends as a weekly treat. We always find the staff really friendly and chatty. We usually find Bex and Dean behind the counter on a Friday - thanks for delicious hot choccies guys!

I will avoid this coffee shop from now on. After ordering a drink iced coffee, it tasted like water. Coffee grounds all at the bottom of my drink. Hardly any ice , just an awful drink. As I politely walked over the counter and told a member of staff my issue, they just looked at me with no expression on their faces. They didn’t explain what they was going to too either so I just stood there pretty clueless. They made it again with no effort at all , next the drink was still awful. I hesitated going back up but when you pay a lot more something you should have correct standards. Once again they snatched the drink off me and spoke to a colleague about it and they where talking about how can it be wrong. Once I said you know it’s not good they just said to me “that’s the way it goes once you put the coffee in” and smacked it back on the side. Prior to this I’ve always thought the staff were so miserable and rude but I thought I’d give it ago, unaware it would happen again. Other places in Sutton are a lot more friendly and welcoming and this place.

I worked with cafe#1 to organise a fundraising event for the charity I work for.

I was back in the area for a birthday party,met my Brother,Sister and their partners,nice drinks as usual,girls had cakes which looked very good, clean tables etc, staff efficient, always pop in when back in Sutton Coldfield.

Compared to the others in the market this establishment feels cosy and warming. The service is spot on and the quality of produce first class.

Helpful and kind staff, delicious drinks and food , (especially the cakes) and a lovely warm and homely atmosphere. The most comfortable and welcoming coffee shop in the area, where me and my friends go almost everyday. Would highly recommend.

Must say I loved this coffee shop and was very pleased I chose it above it's close rival Nero. Beautiful looking and tasting cappucino, nice piece of cake and the kids loved their white hot chocolate. Free water, plenty of books in their library and comfy, quirky decor.

This place used to be really unreliable as it would never be open on time, would close early so you never know what to expect. But lately it’s been much better. The place is wonderfully decorated, nice choice of hot and cold food, coffees a bit standard but still always hot and quick service. Only visit here when I’m not with my mom as she has her favourite coffee shop opposite so it’s only a monthly visit but still I enjoy it.

I found this by chance, Caffè Nero over the Road wouldn’t let me in with my dog, so I thought I’d try Coffee*1 I asked the manager if dogs are allowed, by all means he said.

Good Togo to a place where tables are so well kept. Dean we askedhisname because he is always on the move, clearing up serving customers etc. He is just a top guy. We have used this place many times and are impressed with the standards shown

I had only been to Coffee #1 once before as I needed to complete some work during my lunch break and Costa was way too noisy. That day I had enjoyed a very nice pot of English Breakfast tea while working away, completely undisturbed by staff or customers, resulting in an ideal environment for focused work. For the people who are looking to have a nice drink and get some stuff done, I recommend going to the downstairs seating as there are some splendid little coves to set up in and focus while still maintaining the cliché coffee shop atmosphere.

Coffee 1 has to be the slowest coffee shop I've ever experienced. One person on the till and one barista. They are constantly distracted and frustratingly always apologize for the delay. The shop is always under staffed, tables are not cleaned regularly. I will no longer be going here for coffee as lots more efficient coffee shops in Sutton.

Popped into Sutton. Had some time to kill so went in. Busier due to half term also being about 12.15 but managed to get a seat ok. Nice pot of tea and a big tea cake with Jam. £4.35 Was nice. Would go again.

I am personally not one for writing reviews however due to this horrid, grotesque and unpleasant experience - one must simply not hold back. On this visit between 11am and 1pm I ordered myself a drink and cake. Upon receiving the cake it arrived on a dirty plate, placed with a dirty fork. I asked the gentleman at the till why this is the case and he replied “sorry but our dishwasher is broken and we are washing everything by hand”. This is vile. Hospitality environments need to ensure that everything is being sanitised properly with a dishwasher not washed by hand. I will not be returning to this particular store again. This is a health concern as who knows how long this has been happening.

Plenty of variety in food and drink with seasonal bits as well. Nice and uncluttered and lovely change from the mainstream vendors.

Nice coffee shop. The hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows is delicious with a deep chocolate taste. Latte was excellent too. Nice building and decor make it a place where you comfortably relax. It is set over two floors with downstairs having the main seating area. Pastries and sweet cakes are also on offer but we didn't try them this time but there is a good selection for those with a sweet tooth. The service was friendly and swift.

My wife and I thought we'd try this place on a Saturday afrernoon. We normally go to Costa or Nero but fancied a change and I'm glad me did.

Waited quite a while to be served. Only 3 staff on as per usual. Ordered 1 large &1 medium cappuccino. The girl gave us 2 small. "I'll bring it down" she said. My husband told me to go back upstairs to get it because I'd ordered a cake as well and she'd probably forget. When I arrived she was serving others. "I've done it as hot as I can for yoy" she said but I don't know how she knew how hot it was as she never had a thermometer in it. I also heard someone behind the counter say "it will have to be skimmed milk because we haven't anything else" no wonder the coffees was awful. A man said to me "oh you taking your coffee back too as mines bloody awful"?

Reviewed this coffee shop in June and wasn't that impressed, give it another chance and this time the experience was much better,seemed to be more staff and more organized than before,a step in the right direction.

I took a friend here who has restricted vision. There wasn’t a menu but the young man in store suggested I take a picture of their board. Brilliant idea.

Coffee#1 is by far the best café I have been to so far. In the summer their cold drinks are very refreshing and the cool air conditioning adds to the comfort. It's cosy yet spacious and the sofas in the up and down stairs seating areas are amazing quality and soft. The hot drinks come in a variety of different flavours and styles, they truly warm you up and are purfect for a winters day. The staff are kind and positive and wear smiles at all times. And top it off there's a lovely smell of luxury coffee beans that give this café a proffessional feeling.

I have been here on numerous occasions, however on my visit on Saturday 2nd June there seem to be only 2 staff serving,it wasn't particularly busy and there were dirty cups and plates on quite a few tables, when it first opened it was spotless, there seems to be a lack of staff, it's not great! On the plus side it's a nice set up and I think the stone that was kept in place that was laid by Burton menswear is a nice touch!

Can be very busy and queuing time long to order and pay for drinks.Drinks are pricey but no more than you would expect at this sort of coffee house.

Went in yesterday waited ages to be served but not too much of a problem as not in a hurry. Ordered two croissants and drinks. Drinks were good but the croissants when they arrived were squashed they had obviously been warmed in a sandwich press (which is not what you do to croissants) and ended up a squashed greasy mess did eat it but not nice in retrospect should have taken it back. Croissants cannot be warmed in the same way as other sandwiches because of their texture. Very disappointed as we like the cafe.

I really liked this particular chain when it opened, but of late there is a distinct lack of staff! This morning I went into Sutton at 10:15 it was shut. No tables and chairs outside, no indication of why it was not open. Sitting opposite in Nero’s I watched as customers wandered up to the door and then walked away bemused. And this is not the first Sunday that this has been the case recently. When you first opened it was all rather upbeat and refreshingly a little different from the other chains but at this rate I might have to revert to Nero’s, despite the fact your coffee is bar far the best.

Visited with friends, very nice staff , very spacious, very good coffee /cakes / wraps and sandwiches. my friends did have some issues with their drinks, however complaints were resolved quickly and apologies accepted for the poor service. would visit again.

An unplanned visit into Sutton Coldfield town centre and a need for a brew found me in Coffee#1.

Visited today, ordered hot sandwiches, coffee and cheesecake. Service is friendly and the coffee is lovely. The hot flatbread sandwich was bland at best but the cheesecake was amazing. What let’s this establishment down time and time again is how dirty the place is! There is always food and rubbish all over the floor. Tables are sticky and it’s just generally very untidy. To be fair to the staff It is always very busy but it does put me off coming back. Get another member of staff and tidy the place up!!

The venue is large and has a good selection of coffees they change regularly and have some tasty flavours. Unfortunately the selection of cakes which looks really tempting is dry, I’ve visited three times now with friends and the same each time. I’ll come back for the coffee but the cakes are just too dry and disappointing.

I visited this spot for the first time (22/Feb/2018) I had noticed it had opened but stuck to my usual Costa/Nero. It’s a great looking coffee shop, contemporary and very large inside. Staff were very polite to me and they seem to have a wide variety of choice regarding sandwiches/panini/pastries. I chose the Veggie Burritto, it was great. Americano coffee was also good. Overall, my experience rivalled that of Costa and Nero.

I am a regular customer at coffee 1 in sutton and it is by far the best of the best. Warm welcoming shop, wide range of food and cakes that cater for all and a whole load of drinks to suit everyone.

The new kid on the block, coffee is good, sweet treats are good, ambience is nice. There's little doubt that this place is now the best place in Sutton Coldfield.

I normally go Cafe Nero opposite in Sutton Coldfield but I decided to try this one. You have about 5 staff behind the counter but literally untrained. Dirty cups and trays everywhere with nobody bother to collect them. Staff tali king to each other rather serving the customers. There wasn’t any mature manager who organize this lot. Had my coffee and left in hurry. Never again.

Decided to go here instead of my usual Nero coffee... waited 30 mins to be served... ordered a white hot choc and spiced chai. I could see the barista adding more cold milk to the hot milk in the jug- totally not right! I asked him how would he know when the milk is hot enough as no thermometer .. his reply- my hands tell me !!!! Shocking. Mugs were 3/4 and stone cold. I was able to put my finger in my drink and even the barista was shocked! Drinks remade and they tasted of just milk. Avoid this place!!! Dirty tables yuck

I've already written a bad review of their shop in kings Heath and thought this branch was ok until last Saturday. Service is always extremely slow even when not busy. Staff are not friendly and look pained to work there. We ordered 19.00 worth of food all placed on one tray and as was so busy I waited on a table downstairs which has a lot of steps. My mum who is in her 60's told the woman she wouldn't be able to carry the tray, and the bottle of coke which was glass fell off on the top step and went flying down the stairs. The staff began cleaning it up moaning as they did it. No one asked if mum was ok or got us another coke. I had to go ask for milk for my tea and we had one packet of butter for our giant tea cakes. The customer service is awful

love visiting here on a sunday for coffee cakes and read the papers. The coffee is lovely - medium roast cappacino, worth the extra 30p, and welshcakes with butter. Husband had tea and victoria sponge. all very nice and served quickly by friendly staff.

Visited today. Got 3 drinks orders wrong whilst I was there, including mine. Dark Roast coffee is the norm. Offered medium roast to customers and then proceeded to charge them an extra 30p for that. They need to advise customers of this before they make their choice. Another problem was I walked back to work, 5 minutes from the shop, and my coffee was already tepid. Won't be visiting again.

This place has a nice atmosphere, good for catch-up with friends, going solo or bring the family. Tasty selection of food and drinks for most dietary requirements.

We must apologize for wanting to buy a drink plus some extras. At least 2 members of staff looked at us standing waiting to be served and ignored us! I was about to suggest we go to Under Pressure another coffee shop in Sutton where we would be sure of good service.However one of the assistants did say something to another member of staff who reluctantly came to serve us with a glance to Heaven.

I used to be a loyal customer of Caffe Nero (over the road) but since Coffee#1 opened, I've switched. The coffee is great, food much more varied and fresh than in the big chains, and service friendly. And it's clean and spacious. Recommended.

Went in with a voucher for a 2 for 1 frappe or smoothie which was in date and still valid to use. When ordering at the till the 'manager' quite abruptly told us that he had 'asked the lady in charge of those vouchers to get rid of them as they are no longer valid'. In my eyes this is false advertising and having worked in retail myself I would never treat a customer the way that we were treated. The 'manager' was very rude and offered no alternative to us as new customers to this coffee shop which therefore meant we took our custom elsewhere. Will not be giving this place a second chance, he had no manners and put a real downer on the whole experience.

A really well presented coffee bar with subtle lifts in premium service. Papers on hand, free water from a self service area... Coffee was great, even given the option of strength... opted for strong dark roast.... reasonably priced and well located.

Note: 4 stars is for the food and drink, not for the experience! I love this coffee shop, the coffee and food is different and arguably nicer than elsewhere in sutton. However, the size can cause it to be fairly chilly, and very few staff cause a lot of noise. We were here on a weekday mid-afternoon, sat at the far end of the shop, but struggled to hear each other due to the crashing and banging of cuttlery and crockery. Many other people in the shop looked round, and this happened on a number of occasions. Maybe the other staff can't hear each other making a racket? I wouldn't want to imagine this noise ontop of busy saturday afternoon trade! I will visit here again but likely only for a take-out drink and definitely not for a quiet, relaxing coffee indoors!

I visit this coffee shop whenever Iam in Sutton because it's a nice big airy shop and the staff are always very pleasant and the coffee is excellent. When I have my little granddaughter with me there is plenty of room for the pushchair and some nice children's books on the shelves at the back. This shop is worth a visit.

We have popped in for drinks and cakes and husband likes the toasted sandwiches as they are sold in halves so you can have different ones to make up a whole one. The coffee used is good in cappacino's and last week they had a special coffee on for 30p more and it was delicious. All of the cakes are delicious but especially the welsh cakes with butter and the victoria sponge. Staff are pleasant and friendly and as it hasn't been open long I expect sometimes you wait a while as staff are new and being trained.

A very large coffee bar with comfortable seating. I had an americano made with the seasonal guatemalan beans, and it was a very tasty fruity coffee. Service was very quick (around friday lunchtime) and staff were friendly. The one thing i would say could be improved is that the volume of music by the bar, was a bit too loud and made ordering more difficult than it should have been.

You can get a fabulous coffee in here and the food is quite different to the usual coffee shops in Sutton so despite it seeming very disorganised ( on all three visits) we will still visit.

Sutton Coldfield is well blessed with coffee shops but this one is definitely worth trying in my experience. It is right in the heart of town on the Parade (near to HSBC). The coffee is absolutely delicious and the cafe serves an excellent range of cakes, pastries and light foods including salads and filled breads. There are some very comfortable seating areas. Staff are welcoming and friendly and the place is clean. It is new and I do hope it keeps up early standards and does well.

This store is amazing! the atmosphere is buzzing. However i did wait a while for my drink, but it was worth the wait. this young asian chap made my drink (abul) he was super nice and made my experience feel like it was worth the wait. Great flat white! Food is abit pricey! not going to lie. but there a cheaper and cheerful places around sutton

Me and my mom popped in for a drink and a cake a few weeks ago and it has now become a weekly treat! The coffee is lovely and strond and always hot! The cakes are to die for. Each time i have the triple chocolate brownie (amazing) and moms favourite is the cheesecake. There are plenty of seats with plenty of room and the place has such a relaxed feel. Love it!!
