Opens nice and early! Very friendly barista, good to speak to someone who seemed to be enjoying their job. V good coffee, nice pain au raisin, good selection of other cakes and pastries. Like the quotations on the walks. Comfortable and light - good environment to eat and drink in, and finally gentle background music at sensible volume

Lovely little coffee shop. Good selection. Their water boiler machine is back working so all hit drinks available. As hot water thing was broken for quite awhile. Coffee milk drinks were fone but cant do teas etc with no boiling water. Some costumers unfairly blamed staff. Nearly all the staff are chatty friendly smiley helpful and give great service. Shame some of the public cannot keep toilets clean behind themselves. Food is fine just slightly on expensive side. Hospitality needs to be supported

If I could give a 0 star I would. The girl with short red hair clearly hates working here. Got both my drinks wrong. I ordered a cappuccino and got a burnt latte and my hot chocolate was half empty. She didn't attempt to fix the coffee error and the 2nd hot chocolate she made tasted like boiling hot dishwater that burnt my tongue. A really unpleasant experience. Disappointing as I've never had a bad one here before. Not what it used it to be.. I don't recommend..

Repeatedly, we have been refused tea on the grounds there is not hot water. And yet, all other hot drinks are available. This has happened repeatedly, and it has happened to people we know. Checking with someone in the know, we discovered if they can provide hot coffee, they can provide hot tea. This can only lead us to kne conclusion about the staff in this branch. Extremely poor ...

In these price inflationary times, wholesale coffee prices have risen. Perhaps we picked a bad day, but £6.60 for a Latte and regular Americano with a distinct lack of actual coffee in either of them was not encouraging. Will, in future, stick to favourite of the chains - Cafe Nero!!!

Live in Trowbridge. If there's more than 5 people in front , I don't stay as takes too long to get served. Stood for 20 mins in Torquay last week just to get a coffee and the same in Frome yesterday. One person making coffee while one takes payment is not good enough. The person making coffee shouldn't be doing food at the same time either. Sorry to moan but it's always the same. Lovely looking shops and good coffee but too slow .

After reading some reviews and questions I was a little put off as of what to expect. I was however pleasantly surprised. The miserable and angry manager I was expecting was laughing and joking with some customers and engaging with the rest of the staff. She did seem very busy keeping the tables cleared and clean and the other staff were also busy serving and again chatting with customers. The track and trace, covid measures were all being adhered to and every customer being asked for their details. This of course slowed service down but could not be helped. The cake and coffee was very nice and I stayed for a good hour, buying another drink as I worked on my laptop. I must comment that in the time I was there all the staff were never standing around, they were always cleaning, serving and generally doing a great job including the manager who actually never seemed to not be busy with some task or customer. Well worth a visit and I am glad I did.

We have been here before quite awhile ago now and to be fair this place wasn’t to bad back then. We went again recently and it seemed like we were in a different place, taking into account COVID 19 it was still awful, we had to queue and wait for about 15mins just to have a Pot of Tea for 2?? there was only 2 People in the queue in front of me, by the way there were about 4 people behind the counter serving. The Tea itself was very nice to be fair, but we both said there is just to much messing around on the shop floor to warrant in going back anytime soon....OH!......it’s still very expensive

After a play in the park we were in the need of cold refreshment and a comfort break so headed to find somewhere. We quickly came face to face with Coffee#1 and enjoyed brilliant frappes - perfect in this heat. The shop was bright, airy and much cooler than the soaring temperatures outside. The toilets were clean so we had all our initial needs met and we left very happy with our new find.

I was looking forward to coming back to the Trowbridge store after it had been closed due to covid-19, unfortunately I was less than impressed with the service I got. While ordering my coffee, there was a barista behind the counter answering the phone to whom I assume was another member of staff, she then called “Sharon” (who I assume is the manager) over. From what I could gather the person on the phone wanted an afternoon off due to a medical issue. Sharon (from the middle of the store) started shouting loudly that she couldn’t have the day off and even started stating the reason she wanted the afternoon off. I was not the only person in the store. I found this to be disgusting, unprofessional and had I been the member of staff on the other end of the phone I would have been upset to think that my personal information was being talked about in my place of work like it was. Coming from a management point of view I would think she would have more respect for her staff and the people around her.

Came in today for a business meeting, had a decent oat milk hot chocolate. Finished my meeting and met up with another friend and this time I ordered a flat white, she ordered a mocha. There were two people at the tills, a very nice professional young lad and another short older lady. My friend was spoken to very rudely by the woman after asking if the drink on the tray was hers, the woman behind the counter responded with “I haven’t finished your order yet” in a very snappy tone. I am extremely unhappy with the way we were spoken to on this occasion. I have no problems with the young man.

We have until recently been reasonable regular visitors to this coffee restaurant, but no longer. A shortage of staff seems to have become a real issue, with many tables left uncleared, long waits at the till, and indeed for over a week now the store will only accept cash, no debit/credit cards. So the issue with the steamy windows too, just becomes another little annoyance. On the positive side, when the store opened we were impressed, the Brand does offer good coffe and an excellent selection of food, perhaps we will return in the future, but not in the short term.

I'm not against the bigger boys like Starbucks and Costa but I think Coffee #1 delivers better tasting coffee and a better environment to enjoy it.The main negative is that their isn't that cheap. Especially little biscuits and gingerbread men for the kids. Service can also be a little bit slower than expected at times but not enough to put me off.

I've visited this coffee shop on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed whatever drink I've chosen from the range on offer. There is a range of both hot and cold drinks available making it suitable for most people however the store can get quite busy on occasions and it can be difficult to find a place to sit or to have a proper conversation with your companions above the noise. I have always found the service in store to be fairly good and I'd be happy to continue visiting this establishment in the future.

Ambience is warm and welcoming; slightly shabby round the edges with wooden tables, some leather sofas and arm chairs. I have found the staff very friendly, even when busy. The Portuguese tarts are delicious bites of heaven though the very large toasted tea cakes a bit dry. All in all this is not a destination coffee shop but a very welcome place to have a coffee and chat with friends, or when out shopping.

I have been into Coffee#1 a number of times with friends and also on my own. Each time the coffee has been excellent and the homemade cakes & flapjacks delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and I felt quite happy being there on my own. There is only one loo so a slight problem if it's busy and you have a baby or young child with you.

Quick service at the counter, tea in little teapots with milk in jugs, a good ambience with the music just right, and open and airy. One of the better cafes.

Coffee OK but my friends an I had to compete with the barman/barista flinging dirty cups etc into a trough. The obvious intention and I suspect successfully, was to break them. Interesting decor but atmosphere ruined by staff shouting and crockery breaking attempts. Not very welcoming staff to the point of indifference.

Most popular coffee shop in town - Excellent staff and a lovely atmosphere. No wifi so you don't get loads of people using it as an office.

Being new to the area, and liking coffee, we tried all the local coffee houses, with this being the best by some distance. The choice of coffee, tea's, hot chocolate, cold drinks etc is fantastic, and the standard of the in house food is better than ever. I would advise anyone to try coffee #1, with its quirky set up, and great friendly staff,

With roads closed or completely impassable due to the severe rain from Storm Bert, we finally gave up trying to get home late on Sunday evening and parked up in the car park of the Bolingbroke. Too worried to go any further, we nervously knocked on the door, despite the pub being officially closed, and to our relief was invited in and offered a room for the night. Jo and Rob looked after us all evening, the room was clean and perfect for the emergency overnight stay and even made us breakfast before we set off in the morning. I can thank you both enough for your hospitality and kindness in what was, quite literally, an incredibly stressful occasion. Would recommend to anyone and even planning a return trip, under better conditions, to come back and say thank you once again. Wonderful. Ray and Marion

The website states it’s open until 4pm, it doesn’t say the kitchen closed at 2:30pm. We were happy to have cold quiches but the waitress made us feel so unwelcome even though we spent £46. She then cleaned the table implying we should leave, so we did and we won’t be coming back!

We booked a table for the opening party, the pub opened earlier in the week with new staff and owners.

We visited on a Sunday for breakfast. Arriving a couple of minutes after 10am (opening time), we queued for a table and then again to order food. There were plenty of tables but appreciated it was busy - not all tables were full. We waited for 50 minutes for our food to arrive, although coffee arrived much earlier. This was prompted by us asking where our food was/checking the order had been made, to which we were told ‘we’d just have to wait because it was busy’. The food arrived 5 minutes later. The food was tasty and we’ve no complaints about the quality or price. But, something about the system here just doesn’t make sense, queuing at every point and then waiting another 50 minutes for scrambled eggs on toast and a bacon sandwich, doesn’t make sense. We arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 12:15…. People had started arriving for lunch! Sadly, we’d not return. There are just other places nearby that are doing it better.

We visited with family from France with dog who were looking forward to visiting for coffee and a light snack for lunch,we arrived on a dry bright Sunday lunch, although relatively busy, there were several tables empty, albeit full of dirty leftovers, when we pointed this out to the lovely girl behind d counter she promptly cleared table and wiped, from this point expectations fell away quickly, there was absolutely nothing to eat except carrot cake or muffins fresh or pre packed biscuits and flapjack ! We mentioned this to the counter staff who just said sorry were short staffed and low on food, there were 8 members of staff behind the counter ! Oh well, we ordered coffee which hit the spot first round fine, second round incorrect, then members of our party wished to visit the loo before leaving, a queue of several people waiting constantly to use 1 toilet that was disgustingly dirty from top to bottom ! All in all a poor experience of what some 18 months ago was a lovely place to visit, maybe it was just an Off day, but to have that many staff not doing a lot or cared a lot, not sure I would be in a hurry to revisit
