Had a great, fresh salad and delicious coffee. Excellent service from Roan and the team. Wonderful friendly atmosphere and a great place to meet friends

Coffee is always consistently the best but my new favourite meal the avo, feta salad with all the pickles. Absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to go back again for another one.

this is a cool little coffee shop - they will make you a coffee to your exact instructions. I am a fussy so and so. Wim is patient - then makes it this way everytime I go in. If you are in the area of Hyde-Park, Plymouth check them out - thank goodness nothing like Starbucks or Costa. The food looks good too.

We stopped in for breakfast one Saturday. The coffee is delicious, nice and strong how I like it. The avocado and eggs on toast were also lovely and fresh tasting. Slightly pricey for the size, but I can't challenge the quality. Nice surroundings and friendly staff. The chef came out to check that one of our party wasn't a vegetarian before he cooked part of his meal alongside non-veggie food, which shows they care about dietary requirements. Recommend!

Coffee made to your exact requirements - just have to ask and they are very pleased to accommodate. Simple, unpretentious surroundings welcoming staff. A place that is part of the fabric of a local community - recommend.

Such a great independent coffee shop serving lovely homemade food. It is our go to as a family, whether just for a coffee or something more substantial. The soups are fantastic but get there early as they sell out fast. The sourdough bread is so good. As for the owners and staff, genuinely lovely people who take the time to interact with customers to ensure a great experience.

Zero actually. Arrived for breakfast and stood and counter waiting to order for a full 10 mins while coffee was being made for the 4 other customers. Was not so much as acknowledged. Rude, untrained staff. Upped and left and even then nothing from them

Shame really as very tiny portions for what you pay...a cafe on mutley plain, prices should be cheaper as I can hardly say I was paying for the view 😬 Recommend bigger portions & lower price..... Beans on toast = 1/2 tin of beans , if that

First visit for almost a year. Ran into friends just outside after we’d all found Sonny’s inexplicably closed. Shark Cafe probably 2/3 full, mid morning, mixed bunch, reasonably quick service and we watched several full on breakfasts being carried past. Worked well for an hour’s chat with simple americano and croissants, pain etc.

We like this place. Tasty homemade food, fresh open configuration, seeming to attract a mixed affable following. Tolerable walking distance from home. Disappointing therefore to have come in alone late morning a couple of weeks ago hoping to have a couple of coffees, a chunk of the carrot cake maybe some lemon drizzle too, found that less than half the seating was occupied but the customers spread so thinly that the server behind the counter, instead of making any effort to look for a single space, possibly at the window bench or several of the other tables, ignored my enquiry as to whether a table that seemed to have just paid would be leaving, instead seemed to look through me and shrugged her shoulders and I shuffled back out the door into the heavy drizzle. Obviously this isn’t the type of business which could be expected to take bookings or where you could phone ahead but much better use could be made of the tables and seating and at least an effort could be made to judge whether space is coming free. Verbal communication would help too. We haven’t been put off and will try again.

Atmosphere, staff and cleanliness is amazing. Accommodating to families they have high chairs and baby changing facilities. The menu is great lots to choose from, fresh cakes, brownies and flapjacks everyday which are all amazing. I love how they are trying to be as sustainable and eco friendly as possible. Food and drinks are always presented well and taste amazing.

I don't ever leave reviews, especially not bad ones but I couldn't not write about this cafe. I understand that they have only been open a short while too and are probably just finding their feet but the way I was treated this morning was appalling. My friend suggested that we head to Coffee Shark for breakfast today, when we walked in we both commented on how lovely the decor was, how clean it felt and the menu looked great too. I asked the barista if it would be ok to order the Bacon, Eggs, Beans and Toast, however could I swap the bacon for a sausage and the toast for hash browns. I also said to her that it was no problem at all if she couldn't do this, she said it was absolutely fine and charged me the same £7.50 for the meal, plus a few more pounds for the black Americano (which was lovely by the way). During our wait for the food, a member of staff came out to us to ask what kind of bread I wanted with my breakfast, I said that I had swapped my toast for hash browns so they then disappeared back into the kitchen. Then the owner, who is also the chef, came out and again, asked me which bread I wanted with my breakfast, I said again that I didn't want bread and that I told the barista on the till to swap it for hash browns. The owner then proceeded to ask me why I didn't want bread, I said that I'm trying to be good and not eat bread at the moment, to which he then replied that eating hash browns isn't any better for me and that I should be choosing to eat bread over hash browns. I was stunned that he had made the decision to tell me what my dietary requirements should be. He then went on to say that he couldn't swap bread for hash browns because of the price difference. I said to him that if it's an issue I don't mind paying an extra few pounds for hash browns instead. He then said that JUST THIS ONCE he will let it slide, and not charge me any extra (I was still shaken up by this point after he'd told me what food is best for my body! Haha! 😆 ) I looked at him and said, well thanks very much and he left and went back into the kitchen. I laughed with my friend and said that he's probably gone off to spit in my food now... The food came out, my plate was tiny, one egg, one small sausage, one hash brown and some beans. I couldn't believe it was £7.50 and he was nearly going to charge me extra for the bloody hash brown. It feels literally hilarious typing this right now! My friends food came and she didn't receive the right order, hers was supposed to come with 2 eggs, but no eggs were on her plate. She asked the owner where her eggs were and he then said that the barista had pressed the wrong button on the till. He then stared at us blankly and made us feel like it was our fault, then after a few seconds he said that he would go and make her 2 eggs. The eggs came and he then offered us a free coffee each to apologise for the egg situation, we declined. I spoke to the lovely barista who served us on the way out and explained the situation, the staff were lovely, unfortunately the boss just let it down, I felt belittled and stupid and that is what has fuelled this need to write a review. It is not right for any cafe, restaurant, eatery to tell the customer how their dietary requirements should be. I've attached a photo of my measly £7.50 breakfast.

Very nicely done and pleasant staff. However the portion size of my salmon avocado and rocket on toast was in no way justification for a £10.25 price. One poached egg, not even half a sliced avocado, a very small piece of smoked salmon and a few sprigs of rocket. At the most £6.50. Plus a flat white is £3.10. We were asked how everything was and I said very tasty but said that in no way was the size of mine worth the price. We got an apology but nothing else. My partners veggie breakfast on the other hand was worth the price.

Popped in today for lunch but left. Once shown to our table completely ignored. Such a shame as have been looking forward to visiting. Didn't know what the system was. Did we wait to be served or order at the counter? Would be nice if staff explained this. So we left.

Open about a week. Tuesday to Saturday inc. Begins at 8am which is useful. Family business with friendly helpful staff. Interior fit out and general feel a marked improvement on predecessor cafe. Children and dog friendly but a step up from the pavement and door width may be a problem for the disabled. Free no password WiFi. Currently closes at 4 which maybe a pity. Close to two schools, easy walking distance from swathes of Peverell, Mutley and Mannamead. Thoughtful menu offering something for most people from breakfast till tea time. Business was steady, verging on busy this morning. Pleasant mixed crowd. Menu on a clip board. Tea, coffee, cake, buns from the front counter and orders for hot snacks, meals etc at the counter to the open kitchen at the back. Good stuff. Enough covers for the overall space. Pleasant relaxing uncluttered feel. And they do takeaway. We shall be back and may become regulars. Might not be a priority but some thought could be given to the condensation across the front windows.

We enjoyed the snacks we had here. Came in today only to find the place empty with a To let sign in the window. Not hint as to whether either the beer and cheese snack bar or the related microbrewery might be continuing in some form elsewhere.

Great drinks and food in here, and you can check out the bikes at gts that they sell as well. Some of the staff could do with talking to the customers when being served.
