Coffee Republic in Co-op in Walsall

My very main concern was not 1 person washed their hands.i watched a young people wearing gloves going out of store the coming back into the cafe straight behind the counter can start washing crockery in a sink with the gloves still on and take the crockery into the back to be washed or sanitised in the back office and bring them sand crocs chocolate back in store still wearing the sunglasses not one time in nearly 2 hours we were sitting there as one person and washed their hands not once. The young Person and cleaned tiles sprite tables with a cloth still wearing the same gloves still mess with crockery after mess with chemicals not seen any time has anyone washed their hands. My sister always meet up here after what I’ve seen today they have lost two customers.

Better and not as expensive as expected.

Great place for a cup of tea and a cake. Staff seemed very busy but still polite and engaging. Service was quick and everything as expected. Very comfy seats and plenty of them

Reasonably priced coffee, friendly staff, and a peaceful, laid back atmosphere, despite it being attached to a co-op in the town centre. An ideal place to study, read, or talk, due to the comfy sofas (with countless outlets) and high quality coffee - one of the best coffee shops in the town.

Lovely place to visit, the girls who work there are very friendly and helpful, there is a good atmosphere and the coffee and food is excellent.

The cafe is actually very nice, with comfortable seating and welcoming staff. It’s one of the quieter cafes in town, perfect if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle. However, it’s really let down by the lack of vegan options. Staff tried their best but there was only a tea cake that was apparently vegan and so I agreed to have that and they gave me a bunch of butters to go on it which kind of defeated the point. If someone had a milk allergy that could have been dangerous.

I was told that they no longer reward loyal customers with loyalty cards, not a good move.

Prior to the pandemic, I enjoyed visiting this place on a weekly basis for many years. 5 stars would have been my rating, week in week out. Today was my first visit since early 2020. I decided to have my usual order, which included one of their normal range - an Americano. It was clear what I wanted, and I put it in the same way as I had done for many years without ever having a problem. I was then challenged about the coffee I ordered and this meant that, for the second time, I made it clear what I wanted i.e. just the usual coffee without alteration. That should have been the end of it of course, but no. The staff member snapped back in an argumentative manner. This was odd and out of proportion. She had made it an issue. I was baffled, and calmly raised the matter when she brought the items over later. I couldn't see why she pressed it after I had made my order clear. When I clarified exactly what coffee I wanted, that should have been that. Annoyingly, she carried on the argument with me, and didn't seem to understand that she had made it an issue. She stormed off in a mood and seemed to be worked up out of all proportion. She appeared to be then 'replaced' by another member of staff - why? For the rest of my time there she wasn't seen. Also, oddly, she purported to know my coffee-drinking history better than me. Really? I normally drink at rival coffee houses, which she couldn't possibly know. Also, it seems odd that I had to explain my choice of coffee. Now, I had intended to relax there as I was on a business trip. I thought it would be a good choice, based on past experience. However, it was such a strange, surreal experience that I am unlikely to visit there again. From 5 stars to no star on this occasion. A shame.

Visited today, wow we've missed this place! Haven't been since before march 2020 due to lockdown! Coffee Republic is now up and running again serving lovely Italian coffee and delicious snacks Spotlessly clean, every table cleaned after your visit by lovely friendly staff. Well worth a visit, inside the Co Op in Bridge St. Don't be put off by the roadworks outside. Access is through the store. Can't wait to return again. Anthony Hall

horrible service, got my order wrong (which was a simple hot chocolate) and left it on the side for ages, waited 15 minutes for a hot chocolate for takeaway, rude snobby staff

Lovely staff . Great service, nice seating . Toilet needs a lock on it it stop non customers using it , toilet needs serious attention ie smell of wee from the untiled walls and refitting , baby change station isn't very clean.

They have the best coffee and a warm peaceful environment. I like that their hot drinks are served hot and not lukewarm as in many other coffee shops.

I've been coming here for over 2 years. Not got a bad word to say about them. I originally came for the coffee. But the staff are very very good and we enjoy a friendly banter. They make my day every time I go in.

Nice place for coffee or a light lunch.Toilet could be a little more private , it's a gender combined and it's just one toilet .

Went to have brekky here, had an English tea cake and herbal tea- was cheap and cheerful. The coffee place is really nice and cosy and staff are very friendly.

Entrance is through the Co-op next door - knowing this stops you looking silly :-) Worth it as the coffee and food is good. Fairly busy at lunch, lots of people enjoying WiFi on their laptops. Plenty of mains sockets under benches round the walls. Service is pleasant and fairly quick. Not too crowded, not a rush to be out. Enjoyed my lunch. Recommended.

I have to comment on the review by John Glover, if it was so bad why did you keep visiting for two years when there are a number of other options in Walsall, seems contradictory to me.....just saying but it seems a bit of an odd statement to make and I have to emphatically refute this assessment. There are a lot of regulars which is a testimony to the good service. I would highly recommend Coffee Republic for a great coffee and atmosphere.
