Coffee House Bishops Stortford in East Hertfordshire

We’re not local but was staying in Bishops Stortford for a night so visited as was near to our accommodation and the menu looked good! The breakfast was delicious, iced coffee best I’ve tried and staff were very friendly! Will definitely visit again if in the area.

This is easily the best place for brunch in stortford. Really surprised it only has 4 stars. The food is reasonably priced and delicious, the service is good and friendly. They have room for buggies and I do not feel at all uncomfortable breastfeeding here. We go as a family at least twice a month.

Me and my family of 5 went for the Sunday buffet today and we were very disappointed 😞 no one to greet us for literally 4 mins had to knock on kitchen door to get someone's attention! Then when got our food it was bland and the meat was hard,dry and chewy we all left tones of food and complained to the man serving us.There was no apology or even some sort of discount so disappointing would not recommend this place at all. Not a proper Indian restaurant!!!

Very friendly service! We were impressed by the conscientiousness of the cafe’s team. They took our order in good time and catered well to the needs of my mother who has food allergies. The chicken wrap and avocado toast were tasty and well-cooked. We also really liked our milkshakes.

I had the most amazing paneer dish with proper tandoori paneer in a coconut sauce. Utterly divine

Excellent local restaurant with super friendly staff and a nice range of classic and original dishes. This family business provides a very genuine atmosphere in a relaxed setting. The Sunday buffet is also very good value for money. Highly recommended!

Great curry place in Bishop's. The service is very nice, the papadoms are always fresh and their lamb Adraki with ginger is amazing!!

Second visit to Shadona, food was still good, took a while to arrive, restaurant was not that busy, staff weren't as attentive as previous visit. There was a fly in the onion salad that came with poppadoms, and when the bill came, it was 50% more expensive than previous visit - same number of diners with a similar meals ordered.

We had our staff meal here last night and food and service was excellent. We had such a lovely evening and all really enjoyed our food. I highly recommend the Vegetarian Thali so you can try lots of little bits and the Chicken Tikka Masala was definitely a favourite around the table. We will be back!

This is the fist time ever I felt like punching someone in a restaurant!!! We ate here about a year ago and had a bad experience, we didn't go back although this is our nearest curry. We dicided to go back tonight after a few beers and I ordered the mushrooms rice, the mushrooms were raw! When I went to complain about it the response I got was "this is how we have done it for 20 years and of your not happy with it we can't take it from your bill". Needles to say I was not very happy with the response only to find the staff staring at me afterwards whilst I was trying to enjoy what was left of my meal without the rice. I challenged one of the staff members about the fact he was eye balling me. Worst resurant experience ever!! Wish I could report them to someone that cares....

First and last time unfortunately, £30 not even a onion salad or mint sauce or popperdoms

I have ordered Chicken and Lamb biriyani. The portion is good enough for an adult. The taste is nice. You can adjust the spice according to your taste while ordering. Overall, the service is good. The people who serves are very cordial.

All round a great restaurant, good food and service

Had a fabulous meal at Shadhona in Bishop's Stortford. I tried the salmon shashlik for the first time and it did not disappoint. Good atmosphere and friendly staff made it an enjoyable evening. Expect to pay around £20 with a drink. Best to book at weekends as it can get busy.

Dropped in without reservation for lunch buffet, limited options for selection, however that which I did select was of a good standard. The serviette placed on my lap was an extra special nice touch, thank you.

First visit exceeded expectations. We were able to order exactly what we wanted. Food and drink v good. Pleasant service and vibe. Really enjoyed it.

Went for a curry there last night Poppadoms good.. curry bad I had a lamb Madras meat was tough and sauce was inedible it was so hot and it was bright pink now I like a curry a hot one but I couldn't eat this so I shall be going back to the Star of India in sawbridgeworth.. is the best curry around.. my friends curry was even hotter than mine it's a shame because there's such nice people..

Good, quick service and not too badly priced. The only issue I have witnessed on more than one occasion, and again today when we went in that staff make a fuss of dogs that come in with customers then go over, as one girl did today and handed us our drinks and condiments without washing\ gelling their hands. There is no way she cleaned her hands. It has totally put my friends and I coming in again. I used to work in a bar/ restaurant and it’s not hygienic at all to do this.

Popped in for a take away coffee after brief overnight stay in Bishops Stortford . Flat white was delicious, nice and strong as it should be. Service quick and super friendly. Didn't try any of the food. Would happily return if I'm ever in bishops Stortford again.

Went for the Sunday buffet. I haven't been for 15+years. The tandoori chef needs praising.. excellent chicken tikka a superb tandoori roti. The buffet had mixed starters which were served, then a good array of curries including excellent niramish, a mixed veg curry. I was surprised not see a dal or chick pea dish. The food is spiced so that anyone can eat all of it, but staff were able to provide green chillies to spice it toy taste.

Lovely eve with work colleagues. Great hospitality & delicious food. Definitely recommend Shadhona.

A really lovely cafe. Dog friendly, very nice staff, delicious coffee and wide range of food, smoothies, milkshake, coffee etc on offer Often busy and hard to get a table for good reason. I had a bacon, cheese and hash brown toasted wrap and it was delicious

As a buffet I assumed there would be more choice 3 different curry's the meat was dry and chewy 1 vegetable curry that was ok and 2 side dishes..its a set price for buffet ..they charge you extra pp for poppadoms chutney and nann bread..Good service but food wasn't great I would go back...

Not at all worth the price....Not that authentic Indian taste ...Curry qty was very little,garlic naan did not have garlic,pilau rice the worst with not taste ....Its a FAKE indian taste ....Totally AVOID

Food less than average, service abysmal, waiter walked past our table with hands in pockets several times at no point acknowledge us nor asked how our meal was or if we wanted another drink despite empty glasses, will never ever return, used to be a great plane to eat 😡😡😡😡😡

First visit at Shadona as a work gathering get together. First impressions the restaurant was spectacular and the staff very helpful. The food was bang on! First bite into my lamb vindaloo and it was delicious along with the rest of the food. We recieved excellent service from a gentleman called Smithy an absolute credit to the restaurant polite helpful and friendly. For sure I’ll be coming to Shadona in Bishop Stortford again with other family and friends to enjoy a lovely meal once again. Would highly recommend you try the food… delicious 👍

Visited here for breakfast for the first time, having only come in for coffee previously. We had pancakes and French toast, both of which were delicious. The service was great - very friendly and our coffees and food arrived quickly.

Unfortunately I've had to update my review the last couple of times I've been the food was amazing but last night 5/11/22 the food was awful and tasteless we both left most of our food and to top it off we were overcharged.....definitely won't be going back

What a gaff!! Food was unbelievable!! Went to collect but the food wasn’t quite ready so we were given complimentary drinks whilst we waited! Top service and the food was tasty AF….. WE WILL BE BACK!!

Food is nice however the price now is unbelievable…. Food is not worth the price at all…..we paid £17.50 for 6 poppadoms, mint sauce and onion salad 😳 meal came to £150 for 3 people and no alcohol…. Rich getting teacher for absolutely no reason at all just jumped on the band wagon like every other greedy business owner out here….. taking the mick outta hard working people I won’t be going back!!

I ordered a takeaway from here today - it was the best curry I have had in my life. Friendly staff who listened to exactly what I was after - and generous portion sizes too. The masala sauce was just delicious - thank you! Very good value too.

So 1st time we ordered take-out they sent someone else’s order. Took over an hour to redeliver & they forgot the breads & side dish. A little unhappy but we thought we would give them another shot…what a mistake that was! We found this (an old wooden jewellery bead) in our curry. It was obvious well worn and tbh it turn both our stomachs! Where that thing had been, your guess is as good as ours and so neither of us particularly wanted to eat any more of the food! The restaurant/Just Eat REFUSED TO REFUND!!! All I can say is gobsmacked we found that in our food & dumbfounded neither company will do the right thing!

Best Indian we have had for a long time. Great service, punctual delivery and simply delicious food. Mains of Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Madras, starters of poppadums with dips and sheek kebab, sides of onion bhaji, pilau rice and garlic Nan. All beautifully cooked, delivered hot and sooooo tasty. 10/10 all round with leftovers for tomorrow 🍽😎

Easily our favourite Indian restaurant in the town and wider surrounding Herts/Essex area. We go here regularly with family and/or friends and it is always spot on! The value for money is astounding considering the quality of the food (and service), and they even do a buffet on Sundays for those wanting even better value for money. The buffet is ideal for those with children too. Atmosphere is great and can manages to cater to nice meals with family/friends or the perfect spot for a mid-week lads curry night. Worth mentioning they are also a brilliant option for takeaway as well as eating in!

Absolutely delicious... And as curious as this may sound, the best chapatis I have had in years.

First time visiting as just moved to the area. But we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff were brilliant and could do enough for you. The food was absolutely fantastic, tasted amazing, and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back soon, and will also be recommending to our friends and work colleagues.

Ordered in and got what seems like reheated rice and mains dishes. Might have tasted better at one stage but my lamb was quite stodgy and chicken was dry with dry clumps in the rice. Won’t be ordering again

A welcoming and friendly service with a lovely varied menu, all served to order and piping hot! Popadums came with ample dips and currys on hot plates for us to enjoy at leisure. We will be returning.

I have to rethink if I like indian food after this restaurant. Skip the starters because are so small that is a total waste of money. Very average quality of food, service slow. I didn't like it.

Had a great meal. Good food with friendly service. If you are staying around Stansted, avoid the poor food on offer from Premier Inn and go have a nice meal at Shadhona. Older waiter helped with order and chose us some good food.

Went there for birthday meal. Food was nice! Poppadoms were a little stale unfortunately and mains took ages.

we all really liked this restaurant. The staff were very fast friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in the door. we were a group of four adults and four children, the staff arranged tables in an area nearer the back of the restaurant for us as requested. They were patient with the children. The decor of the restaurant is very nice.There is a beautiful water feature and there was also a television on the wall. It is very clean and neat and tidy. There is full menu available there as well as buffet help yourself table which was full clean and tidy too. We chose from the menu and everyone throughly enjoyed their food. I would highly reccommend a visit. Our visit was late afternoon and the restaurant was fairly busy but the service did not suffer as a result. Please click LIKE when you have read my review. Sunday buffet £10 a head - was lovely. I had lamb, potatoes and vegetable bhadji. Naan bread was brought to the table. The food I chose was not hot but very flavoursome, with the lamb cooked to tender perfection. This 2as preceded by a started that I could have done without.
