Dog and baby friendly. Bar is cash only and didn't have coffee going but excellent beer and lovely staff and clientele.

Just popped in on the way back from a call, and found the bull to be a charming pub. The staff where friendly and the regulars welcoming and chatty. Price for my beer was fair. A very pleasant short stop before home.

Home made Sunday roast and great atmosphere

had a lovely sunday roast in the bull a couple of weeks ago,food was hot,plenty of it and the service was as good as any restaurant.As for the price you cant fault it also thr best guinness for miles.

visited without booking. not looking forward to long flight.we were told by staff .fully booked for sunday lunch.then the life saving girl behind the bar managed to squeeze us in.they were so kind to us. made our day.its a long way for us but we wiil return .you guys will remember ...shaun and julie xxx

Great food agood pub friendly staff

Booked for sunday lunch, sat down no one came to take our order when they did it was as if we were a nuisance turning up, no smiles nothing!!! Took ages to arrive and though the potatoes were delicious and the vegetables were nice, the meat was disappointing as it was cut razor thin and of the “process” type and not from a traditional joint. But this could have all been forgive able if served with a smile instead of a scowl! Wouldn’t recommend.

Warm and friendly with nice food

We call into the Bull most times we are in Sawbridgeworth. We are always guaranteed a warm welcome from John and Betty and a wagging tail from Daisy. Betty's food is amazing, her Sunday roasts are extremely good value. This is a very comfortable pub to visit with the locals also making you feel welcome. It is one of the last of its kind, a true local freehouse and great value for money. It is very probably the cheapest in town for prices - highly recommended.

A nice place all round. Beer is very good £3.50 for s London pride. They dont take cards or i would have scored 4. Worth a stop.

We're now usual customers at the bull on sunday as they make a great and very generous roast which you can enjoy in an true orginal english pub

Lovely pub but no vegetarian food! Unbelievable in this day & age. Waitress said they were known for their roast dinners - nut roast not heard of in this part of the country! For meat eaters only!

Never been in there so asking for a rating is ridiculous

Tuvimos una comida agradable en el Día de la madre en el día de hoy, así que volvimos del Padre y nos decepcionó, estropeado el día. Reservé una mesa telefónica para 2. 30, llegamos a las 2. 20. Nos dijeron que nos podíamos sentar en cualquier lugar, ya que el pub estaba vacío, así que nos sentamos en la parte del restaurante. Yo pedí bebidas y nos sentamos y esperamos, por 2. 50 nadie había tomado nuestra orden, así que nos fuimos al bar y ordenados. Por 3. 30, no había ninguna señal de nuestra comida. Como habíamos estado en el pub por más de una hora, mis hijos (9 y 6) estaban bastante hambre. Así nos quejamos y preguntamos cuando nuestra comida estaría preparado. Me gritó desde el bar de enfrente del restaurante por una señorita que me gritó "te Mel? ". Respondí a ella, entonces yo tenía una lista de empuje en mi cara de Bookings. Me dijeron que la mesa que llegó un poco después que nosotros, pero habían servido antes de nosotros, (que me había quejado) había reservado su comida en una app, así que tenían derecho a comer antes que nosotros. Me habían dicho por teléfono en reserva, sin haber pedido entonces. Solo fue un asado los domingos, así que no habría sido un problema. No había disculpa sobre la larga espera, o alguna oferta de recompensa por tan mal tratamiento. Su excusa era que estaban ocupados, cuando en realidad eran 3 mesas vacías junto a nosotros en el restaurante. No volveremos a comer en este pub de nuevo y le aconsejaremos otros no demasiado. Es una pena, ya que la comida era adorable.

Lovely food, awful service . We had a lovely meal on Mother's day so returned today on Father's day and we were so disappointed, it spoilt the day. I booked a table over the phone for 2.30, we arrived at 2.20. We were told that we could sit anywhere, as the pub was empty, so we sat in the restaurant part. I ordered drinks and we sat down and waited , by 2.50 no one had taken our order so I went to the bar and ordered. By 3.30, there was no sign of our food. As we had been in the pub for over an hour my children (9 and 6) were getting quite hungry. So we complained and asked when our food would be ready. I was then shouted at from the bar across the restaurant by a young lady who shouted "Are you Mel?". I responded to her, then I had a list thrust in my face of bookings. I was then told that the table that arrived quite a bit after us but had been served before us,(which I had complained about) had booked their meal on an app so were entitled to eat before us. Had I been told this on the phone at booking, I would have ordered then. It was only a Sunday roast, so it wouldn't have been a problem. There was no apology about the long wait, or any offer of recompense for such poor treatment. Their excuse was that they were busy, when in fact there were 3 empty tables next to us in the restaurant. We will not be eating in this pub again and will be advising others not to too. This is such a shame as the food was lovely.

Sunday dinners are home cooked and value for money

Estábamos muy interesados en probar el Toro, ya que no está demasiado lejos de nuestra casa. Después de haber estado en una vez antes para una bebida me esperaba un buen servicio antiguo pub de moda. En realidad, no fue la experiencia que yo esperaba. No me malinterpretéis, la comida era buena, casi demasiado caliente para empezar, pero eso fue lo único a destacar. Parece que con este pub es simplemente un servicio de comida después e incluso posiblemente un fastidio. Nuestro cubiertos era paquete en la mesa sin una palabra y en ningún momento nos ofrecieron otras bebidas o preguntó si algo estaba mal. La señora que nos parecía muy estresados a pesar del pub no estar demasiado ocupados y tres personas trabajando. Lo que no podríamos conseguir nuestro jefe fue que no sirven en el desierto. Nunca nos ofrecieron una al menos! Fuimos a casa un poco decepcionado en verdad. No creo que vuelva, lo cual es una pena porque Sawbridgeworth clama por un buen pub de moda comida típica de pub.

Es fácil olvidarse de que hay todavía unos freehouses genuina en todo el país y salpicado en una edad de conformidad sosa, estos pubs puede mirar más peculiar aún más apreciado. En la plaza de toros, situada en el filo Sawbridgeworth, te dan la medida de los intereses del propietario y la señora muy rápidamente: galgos. Por todas partes hay estatuas de galgos bonze, incluso adornan la entrada al jardín de pub. Otro sitio fotos tomadas en Walthamstow Dog Track adornan las paredes y un gabinete está lleno de vasos y medallas. Todo se vuelve claro cuando el campeón de las fotos hace ancianos una entrada, bartola abajo en el asiento de banco, al intentar ignorar su pal, un Jack Russell overexcited Daisy. Aparte de eso, hay un montón de objetos y el boxeo ephemera mirar salpican este acogedor, bajo techos altos con vigas de madera, pub. La gente es inteligente y amable, mientras que el atento servicio y el lone 28.00ale bien cuidado. Sawbridgeworth es bendecido con una feria pocos excelentes pubs y sin duda incluyen el Toro en esa lista; sin duda se alejó de atrás.

Good food friendly owners always a welcome atmosphere

We visited this pub today and were amazed at how much trouble the Landlord had gone to celebrate St Patrick's Day. The atmosphere was warm and convivial and the staff very attentive and fun loving.The Guinness was excellent and on promotion which was a most generous gesture.Unfortunately we could not stay too long on this occasion but will certainly be back.
