Popped in for a coffee but ended up having breakfast. I had a vegetarian breakfast and my husband a 'small' breakfast. Both arrived promptly, Very ample portions and cooked to perfection - and I am very fussy about a fry up! The staff were very helpful and friendly an we will definitely be calling in again as the cakes look delicious too!!

I'm delighted to see the great reviews for this little cafe and have little to add, other than the cafe also has a great takeaway service, whether you want a full meal or just a sandwich. We are doing a lot of building work at the minute and the sausage sandwich run is quickly becoming a bit of a habit. A good sausage sarnie should be easy...fresh bread bun and carefully cooked sausage, sticky outside and moist inside...but so many are dry and disappointing. Never the case here. I've even started taking a mini insulated bag, to preserve their loveliness while I race home! Great traditional cafe.

We visited this cafe on a Saturday morning. It’s not right in the centre of Hexham (it’s very very close by) but you’ll be rewarded by its good honest food, efficient and friendly service and it’s also priced reasonably. My partners egg and sausage roll was very nice with good quality sausages used. My bacon and tomato roll was really good too. The chef used chopped plum tomatoes which I hadn’t encountered before and now really like. After taking the AD122 bus and seeing the wonderful Hexham countryside and a bit of Hadrian’s Wall, we then did some shopping and were hungry again. Lunch can be had at many places in Hexham but we were so impressed by the Coffee Cup we decided to visit again. Our cheese toasties were really good with a lovely little side salad too. If you are in Hexham and need to refuel then I really recommend this place.

The coffee cup is a new find for me, I used to go to Grants for lunch but not any more after paying £5 for a reheated steak pie and bad table service. This place is so unpretentious and what you see is what you get. There are lots of tables all with fresh cut flowers, todays newspapers and free wi-fi. I had a huge cooked breakfast with tea n toast for about £4.50, wow. The dishes are all home made and everything looked so good. The service from the ladies is first class and they are so welcoming and friendly. Visit here! It's just off the main street opposite the bus station

Spotted this new place while waiting for the bus. Just recently opened and has a warm welcoming ambience. Very friendly staff (I assume the couple are the owners). Nice menu with HUGE portions of food (from what I could see coming out of the kitchen). Considering the size of the meals, the prices charged make it fabulous value for money. There seemed to be "regulars" who where enthusing over the quality of the coffee, tea and scones (made fresh on the premises apparently according to one customer) they were eating. I just had a coffee but it was good, strong stuff, not the usual "wishy washy" stuff some cafes serve up. I will definitely be returning to the Coffee Cup and will starve myself prior to my visit in anticipation of one of their humongous meals. If you're in the town, give this place a try instead of the usual Costa/Starbucks/Pret etc - you'll be in for a very pleasant surprise both in the quality of the fare and the "hit" on your wallet/purse.

I came across this small cafe on my travels recently in the small market town of hexham northumberland. Its near the bus station and its a small, brightly lit cafe offering light meals and snacks all day. Its refreshing to find a decent cup of coffee at a very reasonable price, bearing in mind this is a fairly affluent area, with hadrians wall only a few miles away and I think many visitors will welcome this cafe in what seems to be an ever increasing dominance of overpriced cafes in our towns and cities.Give it a try,you will be pleasantly surprised.

An absolute gem on the Holy Island! We stopped here to grab a sandwich, some cake, and a drink to take with us as we explored the island. The customer service was excellent, the owner was an absolute delight and super helpful. The food is delicious, and a really good selection too! And on top of all that they sell maps and books of the island as well, it really is a must visit and a one stop shop for everything you need on your island adventures!

Stopped in for breakfast on the way to do a walk at Kielder. Loved the place. Fantastic , well cooked , quality breakfast. Decent size and good value at £10.50 including toast and a brew. Couldn’t fault the food. One of the best breakfasts we’ve had. Ticked all the boxes for us. Dog friendly. Liked Falstone so much did a walk from there instead of Kielder and came back to the Old School for dessert. Bread and Butter pudding with cream or custard ! Although I was tempted by the Old School sponge. Thank you for a lovely experience
