This café has a great location facing the marina in Ipswich. We took the opportunity to sit outside on a pleasant day and very much enjoyed the coffee and the wonderful view of the boats. We visited twice while we were in Ipswich. You order at the counter with your table number and the coffee is delivered to the table.

Decided to pop in to Coffee Cat off the cuff on our way into town for breakfast. Really glad we did. My wife and I both order the veggie breakfast and, most unusually for veggie food, the plate was full to overflowing. Great portion sizes (not all vegetarians live on a single lettuce leaf!). The food was really well made, with two poached, not fried eggs. I loved the veggie sausages, although my wife wasn't as keen (so I ate hers too). Loads of beans, fresh, grilled tomatoes and a decent portion of halloumi. As for the toast...freshly baked granary, toasted, thick, slathered in butter and four slices each. Cannot fault the food or service at all and this would be a five star review apart from the one negative, which is the size of the tables. Not nearly big enough to fit three plates on (including the one for the toast) and two coffee cups. I appreciate it's a small space but it could be used more efficiently with a slight rejig, and larger tables.

2 gujon wraps and an icecream. No less than 3 people had a hand in making the wraps. It took ages. The two employees couldn't figure out how to make them. Neither of them wore gloves, and handled money, and equipment with their hands, then plonked all the ingredients for the wraps in with their bare hands. Then a woman appeared into the restaurant from outside in a hurry, walked over to where they were being made without washing her hands, and again without any food preparation gloves and without her hair tied back, she again rearranged the ingredients. So 3 people had their bare hands in this food, and also took my money with the same bare hands. The icrecream was delivered in the same way. I was shocked that no napkin was put round the cone until I asked for one. Quality of the food? It looked disgusting. Only 1.5 slimey chicken gujon in each wrap. We threw them away. I felt it was not worth the money to get sick on it. The ice cream was such a small scoop my husband had it eaten in 3 bites. I advised him to throw the cone away as the waitress had handled it. I believe some kind of health and safety inspection should be done, and they should be shut down.

Two of the most friendly ladies hosting. Great sandwiches fresh and tasty. The Baileys hot chocolate is amazing. Loved it!

On positive side it is a lovely location on a sunny day, reasonably priced, I was greeted as soon as I went in and they said to take a seat, they'd bring my order over. Some croissant just coming out of the oven smelled lovely . Not so good was that I couldn't have a veggie sausage sandwich as they didn't have the sausages, and it then took over 10 minutes to bring my coffee and scone - I had to go and ask what had happened and they apologized as coffee machine wasn't working. I felt they could have come and told me this. When it finally arrived coffee was okay but very small cup, and I don't think the scone was very fresh ( should have had a croissant!). Given there are other excellent places on the Waterfront I'm not sure if I'll go back

Back for breakfast for the first time and it was real good and what made it better was the price. Poached eggs instead of greasy fried ones and proper bacon.

Indifferent food, no hygiene rating, and an elderly kitchen hand with a limited vocabulary consisting mostly of obscenities. If you like the Fawlty Towers experience then OK. Otherwise avoid.

This is average food, with appalling customer service from the clueless staff. None of them know the prices and don’t know how to make coffee. Terrible staff aside, the older lady and gentleman who cook the food are wonderful, they are a true credit to this place. The food is ok and well made, if not slightly overpriced comparing takeaway/eat in prices. However, I’ve given this place several chances over the past couple of months, and they’ve messed up my order at least once every time. First they served me the wrong coffee, and when told it was wrong they argued is was right. Another time time they charged me the wrong price for a takeaway coffee. I only realised when they charged me a different cheaper price the following day. They also served an iced coffee that was basically warm. Most recently, they served the wrong coffee and insisted is was right again. I will never be going here again, even if it was the last place open on the waterfront.

Called in for a cappucino and a bacon butty with my dog. My pup was offered a dog biscuit so that was a good start. Bacon roll was very good with plenty of bacon and the drink was equally as good.

Sadly, despite its prime position we felt this little cafe wasn’t so great. The cafe was grubby, floors and tables noticeably dirty. We just had sandwiches which were okay. The side salad it was served with was inedible. It didn’t appear fresh and the celery was an odd grey colour so we choose not to eat it. They did offer gluten free bread which was helpful. Such a lovely location to sit by the harbour and watch the boats.

Service seemed a bit rude and blunt especially that it is a more pricey coffee shop. Being a waitress myself, it would’ve been nice to be offered having my drinks brought to my table but oh well. The tea was basic but the view made the £1.70 worth it. The seats could be a bit more inviting (simple plastic seats)... if i was them, i’d take full advantage to the beautiful view and buy some super attractive seats to suit the beautiful view! Overall, we only brought the tea for the view and it was worth it.

During these 'difficult' times, Coffee Cat had been taking orders at the table, but when I visited today they'd returned to the method of going in to order at the counter. Unfortunately, none of the half-dozen employees seemed in the least interested in taking an order. Not so much as a 'sorry, we'll be with you in just a minute'. I gave up and left.

Had breakfast there as it looked nice and cosey. However my scrambled eggs came with egg shell in. I told the waitress and she just said oh that's a shame! Won't be going back.

Avoid. I had hairs in my scrambled egg and had to listen to the manager struggling to schedule staff for the weekend while discussing problems with the training of other staff. There are several other nicer quality and more efficient venues along the waterfront .
