I walked into the store late Sunday afternoon. The door was open, no signs that the coffe shop is closed. A barrista was serving another customer. Without any greeting or apology, he just blurped out: "We close. We closed, Mam. " I left the shop, while another customer was still beeing served. The store either should have cloze doors or serve all customers equally.

Awful service. Refused to take cash. Had to use my friends card. Ordered a latte, 2 hot chocolates and a baby chino. Well the photo says it all. The baby chino was no more than a cup of hot milk! Both men behind the counter looked miserable, couldn’t hear anything he was saying due to his mumbling. Drinks were nothing to shout home about, in fact half of it went straight in the bin. Won’t return here ever again, go to Costa, you get a smile in there!

I wish I could be more enthusiastic about Coffee #1. It's a regional chain, largely in the SouthWest that is not, as far as I know, owned by a large multinational, unlike most of its competitors. The ambience is good - each branch is a little quirky, with old books on the shelves if you fancy a quick browse. But ultimately, Coffee #1 has to be about...coffee. And that's where I start to have doubts. On Poole High Street recently, the Americano was OK. Not good or bad, but OK. And a latte was also OK. Maybe I should have had one of the interesting sounding filter coffees, but they seem to come from large thermos, and that is often not a good sign. Coffee #1 also sells cakes, flapjacks and the like. There was a reasonable selection, but the carrot cake slice I had was...well, you've guessed it. OK. Not bad (and certainly not greasy), but definitely not outstanding either. And the price is not as competitive as some of the competition. So I'm afraid it's only three stars for Coffee #1. But at least it's an improvement over the Burger King that used to occupy the same premises!

Great atmosphere and great range of drinks. Loads of food to choose from too. The coffee is sadly not very nice, or perhaps I struck a day with a new barista. I always chose a non-dairy milk option which I know can be challenging for some. My coffee (a cappuccino with almond milk) was very dark, with no milk head and had milk pieces floating in it, this is what happens when you add the milk to coffee that’s too hot and it burns. I left it all, such a shame. I Will be back for a fruit drink and a cake though.

Popped in to escape the rain and have a quick, restorative coffee and snack. The coffee was delicious and it's definitely a popular spot as we were lucky to get a seat! The service was a tiny bit slow - and the tables could be cleaned better - and maybe a few more options for dietary requirements. All in all, not a bad little place to charge your batteries.

This place is my usual caffeine fix. Used to go to the chain one across the road but tried this place once and never crossed the road again. From the amazing decor in all its rustic fashion, the variety of seating arrangements from single seats for me to the large bench for groups and book shelf (friends anyone ) this place is a really comfortable and relaxing place to enjoy your brew. There is a vast selection of liquids that will delight your tonsils and throat as the liquid zips past your tongue in a nirvana of happy tastes and exploding flavours. The menu caters for all from young to old and short to tall. They offer a nice selection of enjoyable munchies especially the non calorific (I wish ) cakes, biscuits etc. Have to give them a side swerve if your not going to increase the notches on ones belt. Does not help that the belly busters are all on view just where you order your coffee!!!All in all a fantastic place to stop off for morning/afternoon thirst quencher if you happening to be mooching around Poole high street.

Have Never visited for Coffee and cake and been disappointed which is why we visit up to 4 times a week.We cannot praise the staff enough, they are always without exception accommodating and pleasant. Have perused the large choice of cakes many times wishing I could try them all, sadly as a coeliac I am limited to the 2 fresh cakes available at coffee #1 which is wonderful after the brownie in a packet at other coffee chains, believe me it is possible to get very sick of brownies. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable, and roomy enough to feel relaxed , none of which I have found in any other coffee shop. A visit to any of the other coffee chains are more like a visit to a garage for fuel to me, so why would i go any where else but coffee #1?Criticism where due and also praise where due.

Really disappointed about a fave coffee chain. Visit regularly branches in Wells, Taunton, Cardiff and elsewhere so assumed trip to Poole would get same result. But was handed a croissant in a bag as takeaway and when got back in car to eat found it burned and inedible. Took an age to find a complaint section online - failed - so just emailed randomly asking for it to be passed on to right team. That was three days ago. Today got email back saying someone would be in touch in five days. All I wanted was an apology, not after anything more but didn’t get that from my contact. Bit rubbish really. Shame. Btw latte was ok.

I popped into Coffee#1 this morning for a quick cup of tea to kill some time. I got my order and sat down. I read for a few minutes then started to pour my tea. The saucer was DISGUSTING! It was like someone had eaten off it and they never washed it. When I brought it to the “Team Leaders” attention all I got was a casual sorry. I work at a cafe and would have definitely taken that a bit more seriously and would have been much more apologetic and I would be telling you what I would be doing in the future to make sure that never happened again. Speaking of never happening again...a visit from me!

We’ve been a couple of times but no more I’m afraid. Service was ok but I had a chicken salad sandwich which was awful. Bread was completely wet from the tomato. My daughters chicken pesto ciabatta was cut so that only half of it could be filled meaning the other half was dry. Tea was ok but the smoothie was overpriced for the size that came out. Weymouth sizes are bigger. No point complaining as none of the staff looked old enough to deal with any complaints.

Decided to have a nice coffee here this afternoon (Sunday). Was served fairly quickly as it wasn't very busy. I ordered 2 coffees and a toasted tea cake. We were given our coffee and told they would bring the tea cake over. A good 10 minutes later I asked what happened to the tea cake as it hadn't arrived. It was still in the toaster and had been forgotten about. The lady apologised and did us a fresh one. The coffee was very nice as it usually is here and so was the tea cake. A slight oversight by a young member of staff can happen any time so wasn't really bothered about it although we were sat right in front of the counter with a food order stick. The tea cake smelt delicious as it was being toasted but unfortunately didn't get any of the staffs notice. Happy to come back again the coffee is always good

Lots of tables not cleared away despite it not being that busy, and the most horrible smell, smelt similar to unclean toilets!! Went up to order and was ignored for a good few minutes whilst the staff stood and chatted amongst themselves. The drinks we received were all fine. There is only two toilets here, 1 unisex and 1 disabled. The unisex was occupied so used disabled. Clearly hadn’t been checked for a while. No toilet roll in holder, only on top of toilet (not very helpful if you are disabled) and lots of paper and mess on floor. An ok visit but could definitely improve.

Décor and ambience are good but service needs improvement. Staff are not efficient. There is a major problem with the heating of food. When food arrives it is generally barely warm. Even soup is tepid. Why can't staff use the microwave or check the temperature of the food? My butternut squash tart came totally alone on a plate. I asked where the side salad was and the girl said she had forgotten as she hadn't served a tart for sometime ! I did notice in the summer that full hot sun streams through the window onto the chilled food. Not good. Bad planning when the plans were drawn up. Overall not great. Probably won't return which is a shame as I do like the atmosphere.

Although there is a disabled parking space outside, the roads to it are all closed. Nothing to do with the pub though. The wife and I struggled to get there. I come from Poole, but have never been inside this historic harbour inn. As soon as you walk in, you can visualise the history, the smuggling plots being made by sailors of old, those walls could tell some tales. I was greeted by Kerry, who seemed very pleasant. I was really pleased to see dimpled handles in the pint and also the half. I mentioned that these are few and far between, and in her own words "this is a proper pub", and I cannot disagree. Two vessels of Best were poured and we sat by a window. Also present was "the founder member of the Glee Club" ( sarcasm on my part? absolutely ! ) aka the bearded landlord, I presume, who scowled around looking generally miserable, with no conversation to his customers or staff. We enjoyed our drinks and left, part of me satisfied with our visit, but underwhelmed by Mr. Chuckles.

I've been a regular customer to hortons over the years, but today's service was so bad I won't be using them again. I get a 45 minute lunch break.. 15 minutes of that was spent waiting to order because they had a family of 5 place an order before me and clearly couldn't cope with a group order. After finally ordering, 5 minutes goes by before I'm told they can't do my food so I said no problem I'll just have the milkshake then that I had ordered... another 15 minutes goes by and I still don't have my milkshake. At this point I have 10minutes left of my lunch break, so I proceeded to walk out and and quickly ordered some food from premier bites opposite. I never did get my milkshake from hortons or able to get a refund as no one was attending the till even after I had ordered and collected a hot panini from Premier bites... Hortons has gone down hill ever since the kids took over. On the other hand I can recommend premier bites opposite. Lots of love the RJ lift engineer.

This is only the second time I've been in here.. The last time was before lockdown, when we ordered coffee which was luke-warm. We complained and was met with a very curt reply, " we aren't allowed to make it too hot. Health and Safety!" We said we'd like it warming up but they refused. We came back today, as it appeared to be under a new name "Coffee Society" We had to pay an extra 60p per cup for oat milk, and again it was Luke warm. Had to order a pot of boiling water to warm it up ( which made it really weak. ) £8.45 for 2 drinks!!! Looking up, there were cobwebs everywhere, and it wasn't very clean. Never again.

The audacity of someone to ask us to swap tables and share a table with someone we don’t know and eat our food else where is beyond me… even if the booking system wasn’t working why would you approach and ask someone that!!
