Cock Crow Inn in South Tyneside

I live close by to the Cock crow so thought my boyfriend and I would try it 1 afternoon. The food was inedible and truly disgusting. The staff are lovely hence the star.

passing this place many times and though it look good from the outside we dicided to have lunch there. The layout of the venue was plesent. Plus the service was good. The food was also hot. But it was all down hill with the food. I had chicken pie which was digustng and made me feel sick. My partner had the burger which was very dried out, hard and burnt and expensive. I would recommend going somewhere else.

Often come here for lunch breaks, always a great environment and amazing service. Value for money is great with their lunch club, glad we have somewhere so close to work to come in! Thanks again!

we have just had sunday lunch which consisted of mac and cheese with pulled pork starter tiny little dish not impressed with it at all then beef roast diner beef was beautiful the rest on the plate was all cold we did tell a member of staff and her response was im sorry and that was it she didnt even offer to do anything about it so needless to say we wont be going back there

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Well stocked bar. There was a quiz on the night that we went so we ended up staying for it. It was a canny night. The chicken burger was also nice.

Great meal, good value. Service is very good, everyone friendly. Plenty of parking, also dog friendly. The entrance is on the level so easy for walker, wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Called in yesterday for a catch up with friends. We normally meet in South Shields. Ordered 3 x halves of soft drinks, 2 Pepsi Max and 1 lemonade. Came to £9. I think this is extortionate for 3 glasses of pop. Wouldn’t go back.

Good food and great hosts, the staff are great and happy to help. Went on Steak night and had an aged rump steak the quantity of food was good and not a short order, even though a cheap deal.

Christmas day lunch with the family, The table was set well and looked festive, staff were kept busy and mainly friendly . The starters, main meal, and dessert were works canteen quality. Obviously plated the day before and heated up in the microwave. Very disappointed indeed !

Booked a table and the rude person in charge, can't call her a manager as she didn't behave like one,we walked out after one drink,never go back again while she's there.

We came for the Christmas Quiz with the Christmas fayre meal last night. The quiz was excellent even though we did not win lol 😂 . Meal was beautiful really enjoyed it. Well worth the money we paid. Since moving nearby, The Cock Crow Inn is now our local. We regularly pop in for drinks and food and there is a reason why. Claire and the team always look after us so well. It's a really friendly place with a nice atmosphere, good food and a good range of drinks. They're also genuinely dog friendly too, not just dogs tolerated like a lot of dog "friendly" places. It's just a nice, comfortable place to sit and unwind after work or on a weekend afternoon. Our second home really.

Have had many a lovely meal in the cockcrow, great to come with the family or friends. The food is always good, the pizza is very good and the staff are always lovely and helpful

Called in for a late Sunday lunch, found a table straight away then decided what we wanted to eat, ordered at the bar and the food arrived promptly and was very nice. Lovely staff helpful and friendly lovely atmosphere, will definitely be back 😀

The food here is good quality pub food, the staff are helpful, my Mum is recovering from a stoke, and the staff made sure she was okay, and help her to get into and out over the toilet (as the doors are very heavy).

Pretty poor service. Took an hour for our food for 2 people. Tables that came in after we had ordered, getting their food first. After 40 minutes I asked a waitress what's going on she said she would check. 10 minutes later still hadn't come to let us know anything so then had to go speak to a lad who said it will be coming next, I mentioned that others were getting their food who had came in and ordered after us he just said ours is next. A few more dishes came out for other tables then finally ours after an hour. They obviously had forgotten about our order. Then the same waitress choosing to squeeze past our table and the wall to get to another table while we are eating, when plenty of space to go around. Goes away then does it again. Just a bad experience here today. Won't be rushing back in a hurry after today.

We had excellent experience here today the staff was excellent and food was cock perfect full credit go to kitxhen i order one mega mixed grill ham mushroom pzza burger this young man his named was dylan was every where he really help us with the menu he load it was really busy we didnt wait too long for food or drinks it a lovely place to go food and kids to do

Visited whilst my car was being valeted nearby and was impressed by two young male members of Staff, one was the barman and the other a server/table waiter. The barman was so professional and nice and the table waiter was constantly cleaning down tables in-between delivering meals to diners. The Gammon with egg peas and chips was tasty and well presented,

Great service from Dylan and food was excellent. Steaks cooked to perfection with lovely sauce. We even complimented Molly who was in the kitchen. Well done to all staff.Highly recommended and we will definitely be back!!

We have popped in here several times and each time we are always met with a warm welcome from staff and manageress. We have taken our dog here too and it has a purpose built dog friendly room attached to the pub which is ideal (well behaved dogs are now allowed into the main area of the pub I believe...) It is also very child friendly- as my young daughter loves her visit to the play area and again she is always treated with care from all staff members if she decides to visit the bar area for her snacks... The staff at the cock crow are very pleasant and helpful especialy Hayley who served meals from the kitchen and drinks from the bar , we repeatedly go back due to the good service and atmosphere.

Attended this venue for a family Sunday lunch with family from Australia. Waited an hour and ten minutes for food that was inedible. The beef pieces were the size of a 50p piece, the Yorkshire pudding had the consistency of polystyrene, the veg was cold and hugely overcooked and tasteless. Complained to the waitress who simply said 'If you want desserts please go to the bar to order and pay'. A very young manager attended the bar and abruptly asked 'So what was wrong with it?' Our response was 'Everything!' He made no apology but asked how many refunds were due and returned in excess of £52.00 back to the payment card. The pub was dirty and the toilets disgusting (as per photo). A typical freezer to the microwave venue which clearly has no care or concern what paying customers require, expect and pay for! AVOID !!!

We often visit, we take in our grandson who loves the freshly cooked pizza's and most of the desserts. Naming just a couple would be the chocolate brownie with custard or the dipping doughnuts with chocolate dipping sauce. We always receive a first class service and will continue to visit regularly. All staff are friendly and very accommodating when it comes to children. Thank you

We regularly take our grandson here - he loves the fact that it has park outside and always lots of children to interact with. Staff are always friendly. We think the idea that it is a dog friendly pub is a great idea - I believe a lot more city pubs should take this on board. There is a great little walk just behind the pub which is where we take our dogs, it is then very handy for a refreshment after. Thank you

always been good food however today we waited 45 mins for Sunday lunch and a burger and chips. burger raw. chips over cooked and the beef diner was terrible. fatty beef and veg awfull. 2 out of 10 is generous. I will never go back

Unreal PIZZA on Friday and Tuesdays for £5. The rest of the menu is okay since stopped deep frying everything . Even the chicken burgers are edible. However this Pizza deal and the accompanying beer as brewery owner is a welcome change!

Went with family for Sunday lunch. Beef was cheap, tough and gristly for both adults and children. Children couldn’t eat it. If I had laces I would have walked home wearing it.Potato was instant mashRoast potatoes and peas tasted like frozen rather than fresh. Decent enough Yorkshire puddings but I’m not going back with that low quality of food.

Ordered 2 adult meals and 2 child meals. I had the all day breakfast which was terrible. No yolk in the eggs, bacon was burned to a crisp although the sausages were nice. Wife ordered a chicken dinner which was bland and dry. The kids meals were better. Needless to say I wont be returning unless it picks up as it used to be decent

Catch up with a friend, thought we'd try the pizzas, I had the veggie option,base had no flavour, topping was odd, very flavoursome in parts not so much in others. My friend had margaretta, she wasn't impressed. We had dough balls as a side & they were gorgeous best part of the meal. Service at the Cock Crow I find is never good & yet again we had to wait ages to get served at the bar even though the place was empty. Had to ask to change wine glasses several times before they were clean & without other people lipstick.....

Just had lunch here today with a friend, and what a lovely time we had! Staff were all exceptionally helpful and friendly and the place is absolutely spotless. Typical pub chain menu, I chose the fish platter which was fish, scampi, chips, peas and tartare sauce as I was starving. It was cooked perfectly, good portion size, tasted gorgeous. I then had apple pie and custard. On a cold, windy day it was just what was needed!

We brought our dog along for a drink after a walk. Website stated dog friendly. When we came in a woman who seated to the left of the entrance immediately told us that we weren’t allowed in that section. I think she was a manager. i guess I’m disappointed as her tone was very unfriendly. I accept that it’s her pub and her rules. We duly went to sit where we were told to but again - pointed to a cold space in a conservatory. We both left without a drink but with a poor impression re customer service.

Lovely food for a really good price. They have such a huge selection of vegetarian options which are all delicious and they are dog friendly too. The staff are always very chatty and helpful. Couldn’t ask for more in a local pub!

My wife and I ate here very recently and really enjoyed ourselves. Menu is quite extensive and varied, and the prices represent very good value for money for the large portions that you get. Bar and serving staff were all very friendly and helpful and really made us feel very welcome. Plenty of car parking and a very pleasant atmosphere means that we will definitely be eating here again very soon.

Always pop in once a week for a couple of drinks when walking the dogs and regularly have a nice meal

The food arrived to the table quickly and was very tasty. I had the chicken, gamon and mustard pie. It had plenty of filling and the gravy was perfect. My boyfriend got a pizza which he thoroughly enjoyed. I got a bottle of wine, unfortunately, after my first glass I noticed there was a lot of sediment at the bottom of the glass. I did comment during the meal saying that the wine tasted and smelt more like a sherry. My boyfriend took it back to the bar so they could inform their suppliers and they replaced my wine straight away the pub appeared to be very clean and staff were polite and welcoming. I will definitely return

We just popped in for a tea. Found that it was "2 steaks for £12" and very tasty they were too. They have other deals on all week.

We met up with friends here and, all varying ages from 16 to 75, so a great selection of meal choices offered, picked snd we all thoroughly enjoyed them. Staff were really friendly, meals were very reasonably priced and atmosphere great. Definitely return soon.

very confused went here on sunday afternoon with my dog , asked barstaff ok yes no problem got a pint and asked what time food stopped 8 pm great came back later served again and ordered food were i sat outside in garden great , waitress came and i asked if she would get me another drink no problem fantastic service , returned on Tuesday tea time thinking no problem and was looking forward to something to eat and drink but was told dogs were not allowed in bar only in glass area and garden area understandable but could not leave the dog by himself so could not get served , my point is how on one day no problem and 2 days later no joy , perhaps she may of offered to bring it out especially thats how they bring your food ? a little customer service would of been nice

Been here many times and going back tonight. Very good menu and value for money. Plenty of tables and a good atmosphere. Recently refurbished to a good standard and if you have kids there is a good play area outside. Oh the beers good to.

I visited on a Saturday the car park was full but when we went inside it was pretty empty ,all the tables were dirty with glasses and plates still on the tables.

Keeping it short , visited with partner on busy Thursday evening , sent nacho back over baked no sauce chips over cooked very few think must have run out of bags , burger dry , burnt presentation needs improvement !!

Saturday night tea about 7 pm and it was busy with a few free tables. Unfortunately, the raised area carpet was covered in food. More a comment against the people who had clearly not cleaned up after their kids than the staff who were busy serving. Pizza was fantastic, as were the garlic dough balls. I loved the option of the small pizza and salad, the only let down was the salad- couple of pieces of cucumber and a cheap salad tomato covered in onion. Would be nice to have a rocket salad with a bit more about it and the option of dressings. Great gin selection and good service. Nice to see the food doing well.

Came in at around 6 o clock on a Monday to have some food with my girlfriend. The bar had a wide selection of drinks as well as a cocktail menu which already had me in good mood.

Perfect place for a cheap but nice meal out with the kids. The menu is really varied so there’s lots to choose from. The play park outside is fab but not suitable for U4’s as the frames are quite high. Staff so friendly and service nice a quick.

Came here yesterday with my son. Very friendly service and food was good too. It is what they say it is. They’re not trying to be better than they are, you have to order your food at the bar and there is no table service but if you don’t mind it you’re in for a good meal in a clean and very well looked after environment with friendly staff.

Lovely meals selected meals cheaper on certain days, Tuesdays & Fridays pizzas are £5. Certain gins are 2-4-1, play area for the kids & a selected area if you want to take your dog. Plenty of parking & there's a lake you can walk around

My partner and I went for the steak night deal we ordered 2 steaks both well done when they arrived they were medium rare and the fries cold they had been reheated we complained and were told no more steaks left so would have to re cook which they did and fresh cooked fries we were offered in compensation another drink or desert but the staff never came back to sort this out very disappointed as we come here quite a lot so will consider going elsewhere in the future

Repeat visit after some years. We are very impressed. Considering this is a chain venue the food, atmosphere and layout were very appealing. There is a good choice of draft beer. I had Mexican Nachos followed by Hunters Chicken from Life Bite menu, £5.95 for both. Mrs had soup and Veg Lasagne. Both meals were excellent. £16 in total and a nice couple hours spent. I think the menu is dearer on a Sat/Sun. Quite busy. Recommended

Sunday dinners x2 for £12 nice and tastey with homemade Yorkshire puds, Tuesday and Friday burgers and pizzas £5, yes only £5. Vegetarian and vegan options available too and a good wee choice.

Quick service and tasty pub food enjoyed by all. Lunch time menu is good value but also each day has a special e.g. Burgers are only a fiver on Tuesdays and Fridays. Enjoyable lunch
