We were staying local in the area on our first family holiday. We came with our baby and we really enjoyed the atmosphere! We only stayed for drinks but even if we wanted food it was fully booked anyway! So it shows how busy/ popular it is there. The locals were really nice and friendly and all the girls working were all really nice too! It’s what you want in a pub :-) we will definitely come again.

We visited here on the off chance as the pub nearest to Rockley Park (where we were staying) did not have enough staff to serve us food. What a great decision. The food was amazing and the staff were amazing. The manager even stayed behind for us whilst we finished our drinks. Everything around Poole seemed to have to close early due to staff shortages so this was really appreciated.

Not great place to eat. Not unfairly called a Weatherspoons by the water. The servce mirrors the MDL marina in seeming not to care. Most marina customers do not visit. Do, and you will see why.

Fabulous Sunday lunch (as always). Lovely selection of veg, plenty of meat and beautiful Yorkshire followed by a mouth watering panacotta dessert. Ofcourse there is a selection of wines offered, and the staff are friendly and helpful. From a 'chavvy local' (see previous review) who doesn't own a boat - actually I'm not sure we visited the same restaurant! ?

This place fails at the first. It is misnamed as it is not Cobbs Quay Yacht Club, but temporary shed structure in the car park of the MDL Cobbs Quay Marina. It serves badly cooked food, using cheap ingredients with hit or more miss service and no wine list. What wines do you sell "red or white". Like literally, thats the choice two bottles...... Another reviewer described this place as a downmarket Weatherspoon pub, and I would agree. It is true that it is over-run by chavy drunk locals who use it as their local boozer, and do not own a boat. Such a missed opportunity, but that accurately reflects the wider MDL Cobbs Quay Marina which is, by some margin, the worst marina (poor facilities, design and dire customer service) that we have ever visited.

We have just been for a fantastic family meal here whilst on holiday. Steak, chilli, Kiev and fish fingers all very tasty and lovely and fresh! The service was superb, the food turned up quick, freshly cooked. Great atmosphere in a restaurant/bar that caters for visitors and quay users alike! We waited about 15 mins for pud and the staff were really apologetic without us even mentioning it and offered free drinks to make up for it! Can not fault this place will definitely be coming back!

This is a genuine review from locals who have eaten at Cobbs Restaurant & Bar on several occasions since moving to the area in 2014. It's in a quirky building in a lovely setting which, although located within a marina, doesn't attempt to be a snobbish over-priced venue. It's certainly never been full of "chavs" when we've been (see another review) and we've always experienced a welcoming down-to-earth atmosphere, with good quality food, generous portions at reasonable prices and great service. I do sometimes wonder whether there's the occasional reviewer who makes negative comments because they are either posting on behalf of a competitor or are just used to haute cuisine and being waited on hand and foot with minions at their beck and call, hovering around with table dustpan and brushes when the slightest crumb drops. We'll be back!

Unfortunately we hadn't been able to visit for a couple of months but it was so good to be back. This is a great place which we are lucky enough to have within walking distance. We love the unfussy relaxed ambience of the place. My wife and I and our two friends had a lovely evening on Thursday 10th June. The food was great as was the wine and the service. The staff were attentive and ensured everything was to our satisfaction. All covid rules were upheld and we felt totally safe. We sat in the marquee which of course had the sides fully open. Wherever you sit you have a lovely view of the marina and out to Holes Bay. I am just about to book another table for next week!

I’m gobsmacked by the long ranting bad review from the Italian reviewer that I just read in here. Visited with my daughter this Saturday afternoon for lunch and thought it was fantastic service and value. Sat in the makeshift covered marquee, whilst it was hammering down with rain outside. But the covered sides and well tended to patio heaters kept it lovely and warm - it was actually a bit too warm at times. Waiting staff were very friendly and attentive, food was lovely and great value for money with generous portions. Not a drunken chav in site, as described by another reviewer. We’ll certainly be back. One very small gripe - the wheelchair access into the main door can do with improving greatly. Although it’s ramped, it’s a very short but high ramp and really quite dangerous for an independent wheelchair user especially on the outside. I speak as somebody with over 25 years experience.....

Our family and extended family, have been visiting the yacht club for many years and it is still one of our favourite places to visit. From the owners, bar staff, restaurant staff, kitchen and runners they are fantastic team who endeavour to make your visit as relaxed and enjoyable as they possibly can. What I am most impressed by, is the way they responded to covid and the ever changing challenges they had to face. They responded in a fun yet professional manner, and it’s such a shame we have had to witness rude people making their life’s difficult at times - shame on them. Cobbs remains a firm favourite, great venue, good food and fantastic team! Keep up the great work team cobbs x

MORE AT TripAdvisor

When you look at the waterside view and location of this place; the high value of the boats moored in the marina and the quality of the cars that the boaters leave parked in the car park, this place could and should be superb and a gold mine. However, the reality is something quite different. It looks, sounds and is populated by the sort of people you see but try to avoid outside a Wetherspoons. In short, during our two recent visits it was over-run by drunk chavs who seem to use it as their local pub, with little or nothing to do with the boats. They are loud, rude, sweary with no class and it sets a poor and downmarket first impression. Whilst the food portion sizes are large, the quality and low-skill displayed by the chef and the cheap, poor quality of ingredients used makes for tasty eating. There is no finesse or presentation, the food unremarkable and tastless. It's poor quality pub gloop at best, and entirely without merit. The building which houses the restaurant looks like a secondhand modular classroom, with zero character or atmosphere. The outside seating area is a bit better but located too far from the water edge to benefit from the lovely view. The outside area is also ruined, on the two occasions we visited last week, by groups of drunk, loud locals who are not eating but drinking (a lot). However, the worst feature of this place is the customer service or lack of it. The people that run this place and the waiting staff should hang their heads in shame. They are amongst some of the rudest, most incompetent team assembled in the history of the hospitality industry. Having recently retired from 40 years working in the leisure and hospitality industry, I know what good and bad looks like and this place is dire. There is no smile, no finese, no class, orders are continually forgotton and mistakes made. We asked for mustard with our meal that arrived when our table was cleared at the end of the meal. We asked for a glass of red wine, white was delivered. We asked for a rare steak, it arrived on the burnt side of well done The people who served us did not even say hello, please or thank you. We had to chase the bill on both nights. We even witnessed one waitress knock a drink all over a lady sat at the next table, not apologise or even offer a free drink but blame the wind and then walk off!!! This place seems to be set up to serve drunk local residents as a downmarket and rough public house, rather than the affluent residents of the marina. It could be so good, but it is really, really poor and downmarket as currently configured. The most surprising thing is that MDL who own and operate the Cobbs Quay Marina and I assume are the landlord, put up with it. Done well, this place could be superb and a money making machine for the owner, but to do that it needs a makover, a new manager, trained waiting staff with a pulse and personality and a kitchen crew that can actually cook. The current operator seems to be so short-sighted, lazy and incompetent that they seem set to drive it into the ground. Unless you are one of their local drunk drinking buddies who they encourage and turn a blind eye too their questionable language and behaviour. Until somebody who cares takes this place on, I'd steer a wide berth. For now, Avoid !

It is sad when you don’t want to leave a review, you just want to get an explanation and an apology from the manager. However after being ignored when I sent an email explaining the bad experience, I feel there is no option but to tell people to AVOID this uncaring, joke of a business. This is the email I sent but got NO reply.Dear Julia,I am disappointed, disgusted and shocked. After Implying you are a dog friendly venue I was shocked yesterday, when I moved one of your outside tables 3 meters into the shade for our dog, (on the hottest day of the year), your staff told me I could not move the table and had to move it back. I did say I would move it back once we had eaten but this was not good enough. She said it effected her table plan. Well when there are only 4 tables on the grass it could not effect it that much and as I said, I did say I would move it back once we were finished. I have always enjoyed eating and drinking with you but now feel you really don’t care about your customers or their pets. Animal’s struggle in the heat and I feel that a venue that doesn’t understands that shouldn’t pretend to welcome them. S Taylor On the hottest day of the year, I carried our dog across the car park as it was too hot for her to walk on the tarmac, then they try and force my to keep her in the sun. Seriously the place is not good enough, for me to go back to, we are spoilt for choice with lovely venues, so if you are thinking of taking your dog out, don’t bother taking them here.

Although I would recommend the dinner it’s also worth mentioning that breakfast here is very disappointing. Nothing special and very expensive for what you get. Management are clearly reliant on sheer convenience for berth holders and price accordingly. The table next door was told that orders were no longer being taken as there was too bid a backlog (this was at 7:40 pm).The food turned up after the anticipated delay, sad to report that though my wife’s ham egg and chips was just about edible (ham overcooked and egg slightly burnt, undercooked frozen chips) my beef burger was dire, that sort of soft mushy texture of finely ground ‘meat’ that one used to get in cheap tinned meat products, something to be endured rather than enjoyed. Suffice to say the following night we went to the chip shop down the road.

Visited on a Saturday morning as part of a birthday breakfast group, the staff seemed very unprepared for the numbers (12), the orders took a long time, and several were cold, one order of poached egg on toast was totally missed, and was then served up on plain untoasted bread with two poorly prepared eggs. A.place to be avoided, certainly for breakfast

The family gathered for breakfast to celebrate a birthday, many of us were very disappointed - I had bacon, egg and toast......I couldn't cut the bacon - it was like leather, the egg was overlooked and toast too thick, cold and unbeatable, no worth the money.........disgusting...well I was looking forward to it being an old aged pensioner.....looking forward to a day out in lovely surroundings. There were 12 of us and two children.

The day couldn't of gone any better!! The kitchen had their work cut out having to deliver 106 covers but they did not let us down, the food was amazing hats off to the chef and his staff!! Iv been here for dinner a few times and could never fault it, but having to cater for that many was just impressive!! Overall a cracking venue whether you are at a wedding or popping in for an incredible pizza!! Can't wait to go back!!!

By far the best place to attend in Poole for a quiet drink with friends or social gathering to watch the live music. It's nice to see such a variety of people walk through the doors from boat lovers, small groups and older couples. I've never had a bad experience here all I would say is if you want to eat on a night they have an event, make sure you book in advance as I know they fill up tables quickly. As a MDL birth holder I am lucky to have this on my doorstep when I stay on the boat. And it's a great place to bring my dog as they have a well maintained beer garden with great marine views to watch the world go by.

We have eaten here quite a few times now and even had a party here after our wedding. The food is always lovely, the menu is varied and spot on. If you're looking for a lovely meal with a view of Poole Harbour you must come here. Whether you arrive here by car, on foot or by boat it makes an ideal destination. You can dress up, or be relaxed, you won't feel out of place either way. The breakfasts are amazing too, with proper sausages. Sunday roasts available. Best to book though because it gets busy, especially when the sun's out! If you've got children there's plenty of space to run around, dogs are not just welcome, they get a fuss made of them too.

Quiet, select, cosy with tranquil views over the bay, or busy, noisy, and full of atmosphere, Cobbs has it all. I meet friends every Friday for lunch, usually quiet and cosy, great food and friendly service. Also arranged a Christmas Party for 36 people, the Guys took everything in their stride, food was good and fresh, and service very accommodating.Try Cobbs for lunch, or dinner, very competitive pricing, and a lovely laid back vibe. We are fortunate enough to live within a steady 20 minute walk of the Marina. So it only makes sense that we would stop in to the restaurant for a coffee before walking home. Although, as yet, I have not tried it, I am told that they do an excellent breakfast. The coffees, complete with a small wrapped biscuit have always been excellent. On one visit we noticed that they were having a "Spanish" evening. So we asked our friend Tony if he would like to go. We were given the menu to pre-select the dishes we wanted and paid a £5 deposit.I do not remember the choices offered or indeed the choices we made but do remember that the food was plentiful and tasty. The music was provided by two gentlemen with Spanish guitars. They were very accomplished and made the whole evening a lovely experience. So much so that when we saw an advertisement for a Caribbean evening we booked right away. This time we were joined by our friends David and Pauline. The food was Caribbean and the music was supposed to be reggae but in fact was a great mixture of blues, reggae and soul. This was provided by Ant Lewis. A man with a great voice and greater skill on the guitar. The food was once again served in good sized portions and again was tasty and well cooked. The girls had prawn tacos and jerked chicken with rice and peas. David and I had the very spicy sizzling ribs and goat curry and rice. The two large ribs were succulent and "fall off the bone" tender. The goat curry was perfectly spiced and the large pieces of goat melted in the mouth. All in all an excellent meal. Combined with the great, toe tapping music this made an evening to remember. All this for a very reasonable £16 per head.We will be back as they are planning a "French" evening in February, once Christmas is out of the way.Peter & Jean. :o)

As a local to Poole my wife and I have visited many places and more to go to.On Sunday we decided to visit Cobbs yacht club as we heard many good reviews about the place.Fairly easy to find in Hamworthy sign posted just off a housing estate.Drove through the main entrance to the boat yard, large car park, mainly sailing fraternity, the club house is overlooking Holes Bay and the marina.Quite a few people having sunday lunch,we popped in just for a drink. Not overly impressed with the building or being served, staff just concentrating on regulars and not general public. Not much too look at but told that they do very good food.Sat outside as a nice afternoon, not much of a view of Holes Bay.There are much nicer places to go to,and Salterns Quay beats this hands down. Now have been, dont think we will return as seen it now, cross off list. But as said food menu looks very good.

Took my Dad for his birthday dinner here. Very relaxed atmosphere with a view over the marina. It was curry night(Thursday) I opted for beef vindaloo and 2 sides as part of the deal. Dad opted for Haddock n Chips. The curry was nice a good size portion and the meat really tender not chewy or leather like. Would have liked it a bit more spicey though. The sides I chose were onion bhaji and veg samosa both home made and very nice. As for the Haddock n chips......it was Haddock n Chips nicely cooked and apparently tasty. There is a bar for a beer or 6 and coffee is available fresh brewed. My only disappointment was that I didnt see the specials board because there was fresh lobster available. Make sure you ask if you cant see it you may be missing something. They also do freshmade pizzas and the rest of the menu is made up of favourites. We enjoyed everything including our tubs of purbeck ice cream for dessert.Even though its off the beaten track set the satnav and give it a try you might just like it.

We live close to Cobbs Quay and have used it for many occasions from birthday meals, Fathers day lunch or to just meeting up with friends to watch the great and regular music events they hold. Every time we have been, we are always greeted by friendly staff who always go out of their way to help. We generally have our children with us who also love coming down as they can go and play out on the grass, but are still in our view from inside. The food is of great quality and there is a great choice from the menu and the specials board. If you like your seafood then this is the place to come on one of their seafood special nights. Great food, great quality and at a great price. The live evening entertainment is great and we have always had a good night ( especially when the Mother Ukers play ). I've been wanting to review this place for a while so am glad someone's started the ball rolling. We've been here for a few of their seafood special nights which are superb and I'd highly recommend them. The quality and amount of seafood you get for the price for two courses, including a glass of Prosecco on arrival, is great value for money. The lobster, which so many places seem to ruin, was gorgeous. I even enjoyed the oysters which are not normally my cup of tea. With the sax player doing his thing in the background, the ambience, as Micky Flanagan would say, was lovely. They do get booked up quite quickly, but to respond to the previous review they do offer a limited alternative menu for these nights too and the night is well advertised. Not sure how you can review a seafood special night when you hadn't booked and didn't even eat or see any of the food! We've eaten there on other occasions too and the everyday menu is pretty good as well, especially their mussels and beef bourguignon. It's an unpretentious, welcoming place, with a good selection of beers and wine and, unlike a lot of places, is always really clean and tidy, even the toilets. With the view over the marina, it's a lovely spot to eat, and with free live music too what's not to like.

We chose it for an important family function as it was a favourite place of my fathers where we could have a get together as a family but equally suitable for our group of friends. We hope the owners have continued success as they have certainly put alot of effort into continually improving it, and the live music especially the Mother ukers is fab.

I have been visiting the restaurant/bar for years and the new owners have created a fantastic environment for Berth Holders to enjoy their evenings with live entertainment, summer lunches with a view across the bay and the odd Sunday with a lovely saxophone player. The facilities are expceptionally clean, the bar and restaurant area have a nice relaxed but buzz about the place. The staff are very customer facing and always helpful! We spent four nights in as visitors to Cobbs Quay marina this summer and used this place as a result. Externally unprepossessing, it appears to be a temporary building of the type normally associated with overflow classrooms across the playground. Internally some effort has been made to make for a much better appearance. It is not what most would I suspect associate with the term ‘yacht Club’. The beer appears well kept and on the one night we ate there the food was pretty typical pub grub and typically overpriced it go with it. On the second night we found that they had a ‘special event’ on and the only option was an absurdly overpriced (£32) seafood menu, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we discovered a very good chip shop a short walk towards Poole which was a far better option for food.We did return each night for a few drinks and it was clear that much of the clientele came from the surrounding estate rather than the boats. The staff were mostly very young and, though pleasant enough, service could be slow and the concept of clearing tables of empty plates and glasses seemed to have passed them by. The main issue for us was that every time we were there a couple of tables seemed to be taken up with contestants trying out for the All England high volume swearing championships which didn’t encourage us to hang about.Fine for a quick pint especially if the weather is suitable to sit outside but the walk to the chip shop for food is worth it (and there’s a co-op next to the chip shop for other supplies).

Firstly a congratulations to the owners who have transformed this place from what it used to be. Even better, they have taken some of the old staff and really improved their customer service skills - well done. Unfortunately the food service varies from fantastic to awful. The owners used to be front of house, engaging with customers and ensuring high quality food service. More recently they are either not here (understandable at times) or just behaving as customers themselves. I really want this place to work, and it is so much better than it used to be, but the owners are resting on the laurels of success of year one and now service and food quality has dropped substantially. I guess in Sumary it's inconsistent - great lunch last week, awfulFood tonight

We've been residents of Cobbs Quay Marina for many years now. The Club House (currently known as Cobbs Yacht Club) was taken over under new management about 3 years ago and it picked up considerably. Initially that new management provided an exceptional level of service. But sadly, it's now very much hit and miss. It very much depends on who's "on" each night, and whether the managers are either serving or sitting at the bar. It's such a shame, as the catchment area (500+ boats) could mean so much to them.Latest visit for us was during the summer holidays, for a simple dinner order of two pints and two burgers. The burgers were horribly undercooked and a far cry from what they were two years ago.So overall, best only for a pint and a packet of crisps. Currently.

This restaurant if in the MDL Marina complex of pontoons, good toilet block, small shop, fuel and launch areas. It sit on raised ground overlooking Holes Bay with a distant view of the Twin Sails , 2 nd lifting bridge and the RNLI Headquarters and the new lifeboat building. There is some outside seating and decking and a large grassy space for children to run about and play.Inside are 2 bars with 2 eating areas. We had our first meal in the evening when they were also catering for 100 fishermen and amazingly also managed to feed our party of 4 adults and 3 children. It is obviously a popular place for boaters and locals alike. We also had 13 booked for our family on the Sunday lunch time and again were severed well. There is a relaxed atmosphere and people were welcoming. The food was very good and our guests particularly liked the specials menu with several fish dishes.Even our 5 year old loved his mussel starter as a main although there is a limited childrens' menu. The evening meal starts serving at 6 pm and the lump ch at 12 .Occasionally there are special events- this Friday there is a lobster evening with music which we have also booked for.Prices may be higher than usual pub fare but maybe this place is a little special. We also used to take bacon sandwiches as take away for breakfast on the boat when off sailing. It is best to book at busy times.
