Having lived at the campsite over 20 years ago, I was excited to go to the cafe and see how it had changed. I left very disappointed The outside of the building was drab and badly in need of a paint. We walked in to the cafe and most of the tables were covered in dirty plates and cups. From half way to the counter a young girl informed us loudly that they were no longer serving food (around 3pm) and we could only have take out coffee but no choice of milk (only looking for semi skimmed too !) The toilets were all empty of toilet roll and not particularly clean. It was a hive of industry a few years ago with a lovely shop too. I won't be in a rush to go back.

Dirty tables. Dirty menus. My daughter was served a mouldy panini. Cheese in panini was plastic. Very dry tasteless cheese scone. Drinks not too bad.

We visited this cafe as it looked busy as we passed on Wednesday. What a disappointment. We ordered tea, coffee and 2 fruit scones. The tea and coffee was fine. We should have known about the scones because they arrived luke warm. The scones came with two butters and jam for each scone. No wonder. The scones had obviously been frozen and defrosted and stored in jars on counter. Didnt look airtight. The scones then needed heated up to soften them a bit before serving.. It didnt work they were dry and fell to pieces. We were hungry and did eat them as we had spread the butter and jam. Found it strange that when the scones arrived we were told that the cutlery was up the back of the cafe and my husband had to go and get it and napkins too?? When the lady came to clear our table she asked if everything was ok. I said NO. She thought I was joking. I then explained to her that the scones had been frozen and they reheated. She did not deny this. She did tell us that the scones come from Cobbs Bakery in Inverness. As a goodwill gesture she did give us two wrapped cakes to takeaway with us. We dont consider ourselves tourists as such just Scots visiting another part of our country. But I write this because it would be such a shame for tourists to experience the same if they came into cafe. Lastly at £2.50 per scone I would have thought they would have been fresh

So we went to cobbs forest cafe whilst on vacation the beginning of April. One staff members was quite rude and abrupt advising we could have no food as they were closing at 330. We sat with drinks and within minutes were cleaning tables and attempting to usher us out the door. Was not friendly and drinks were mediocre at best. Unfortunately did not meet expectations.

We always use the cafe whilst staying at Glenmore. The chap running the place was amazing. Friendly, professional, super efficient and a great eye for detail. Hopefully, his Assistants will up their game to be a bit more proactive and helpful to him, someone to aspire to. Coffee was really good and food ok. We had chips one day and the oil tasted on the cheap side or needed changing, had that funny smell! Would prefer chunky chips. Will continue to use on our visits here, thanks.

Stopped for some lunch after a long walk. The place was empty but a very surly employee informed us that 'no dogs were permitted on the premises'. This cafe needs to get with the programme - most walkers take their dogs and expect their furry companions to be able to join them. Went to the Old Bridge Inn and had a fab time - with our dog. Lesson learned.

Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today. Both had the special which was outstanding value, beautifully presented and delicious. We didn’t have room for the slice of cake that was included in the price so took it home with us ! The two young ladies serving, cooking and clearing did an excellent job during a very busy lunchtime spell. Service with a smile - Thankyou !

We were here after visiting the Cairngorm Mountain, unfortunately without the mountain railway. We were however happily cheered up by meal at the Cafe. Ordered a day special, which was of excellent value, and a Scottish pancake. Other than the pancake itself, which seems to be rather standard, the rest totally exceed expectation.

Little gem of a cafe right next to the visitor centre. Walk around until you see the monstrous plates of paninis and salad. First of all we were greeted with unclear instructions on where to sit and how to order. When we finally ordered the tea order was incorrect and we got charged extra for extra cups that we requested at the start. After a painful 10 mins sorting that out the food arrived. The full english breakfast was passable but no mushrooms as stated on menu. My daughter’s pancakes we disappointing as tiny portion and cold (two small pancakes and two small rashers of bacon). Bacon was also very fatty and cold. In conclusion very disappointing experience and very overpriced for what it was. Would not recommend.

Very friendly staff. Lovely and clean. Wide variety of breakfast options. We had the Scottish breakfast. The food on the whole was good but it was overpriced for what you got. No option other than fried egg. At least not on the menu. The toast came on the same plate as the breakfast, with the pots of jam and marmalade sat amongst the hot food. Also on the plate covered with breakfast residue were a sachet of ketchup and brown sauce. I don’t know how clean these items were and would have preferred these separately as well.

Dropped in on scorching hot day after a walk with the family and dog. Despite coming to Aviemore and Glenmore for 40 years I've never come to the cafe at the Glenmore centre, probably due to me having a bit of a negative impression of Cobb's cafes generally. My expectations were significantly exceeded. Despite Glenmore being absolutely mobbed on a beautiful Sunday in July we got a table outside with the dog. The daily special of panini, soup and a cake was really reasonable at £9.50 and when it was delivered we were delighted with the quality and potion size. The manager and staff remained cheery despite the temperatures being n the high 20's. After walking past for so many years Cobb's at Glenmore is now added to my list of go to places.

After a very strenuous walk (Blue) to the Green Loch, we entered Cobbs Cafe at Glenmore Forest Visitor Centre. There is seating outdoors, although we chose indoor which looked as if the seating had been vastly reduced. There's a one way system in place which can add to queuing time if busy and toilet facilities for customers, which were probably available to all before Covid-19, but unfortunately this is the world we now operate in. The staff quickly greeted us as we entered and advised the protocols. We ordered soup and toasted sandwiches and drinks which were promptly delivered to our table. We then returned for cakes. Great service, food and cakes after a long brisk walk.

We’ve been lucky enough to tour around loads of places this summer, and most have done a great job of implementing Covid measures.Unfortunately this place is an exception. It has a very poor set-up, from the slow single file queue at the counter to the bizarre way they’ve arranged the toilets, which all just serves to make the whole thing frustratingly slow and inefficient. They are being very greedy in insisting that customers have to queue for 10 minutes to pay for a chocolate bar in order to be permitted to pass through to the toilets, which would be freely available via the visitor centre in other circumstances. Some staff were friendly, one in particular was rude, officious and obstructive. The young lady in question may wish to apply some courtesy and common sense if she wishes to continue in a customer-facing role.I can only hope that things improve once the visitor centre reopens and helps to give a warmer welcome.

Partner had already arrived and purchased us hot drinks. My daughter and I arrived and tried to enter the facility but were shouted at by the waitress to inform us that we had to wait in the queue because of Covid-19. Except there was no obvious social distancing taking place. Others in front of us in the queue were happy to stand aside for us to walk past but were again told this was not allowed. Everyone in the queue commented about how ridiculous this was. Entrance blocked off by chairs and so that staff could exit but again we were told we could not enter. Manager shouted at us from the back of the cafe, stating that we were not allowed to 'queue jump' in order to reach our already cold coffee and we should understand that this was for everyone's safety because of Covid-19 and shouted at the waitress; who was observed to be pulling faces at us, constantly staring at us whilst we were waiting in the queue and passing comments about us. End result cold coffee and dreadful atmosphere. Observed same thing happen to another family, who were also shouted at and made to feel like naughty children. Hardly anyone in the cafe but not surprising given the attitude of the staff who were all trying to look busy but had no regard to offending paying customers. Such a shame as the facility used to be a welcoming, relaxing cafe. As a healthcare key worker I am all too familiar with social distancing and dealing with the virus but this was just plain rude attitude of the staff, led by the manager, who clearly had issues.

We arrived on a Saturday at 2.40 pm. The hours state 9 am - 4 pm. Ordered coffees and cold drinks with a couple of tray bakes. Once we had paid and sat down, chairs were put across half of the restaurant and the door to stop anybody else coming in. One other couple had a meal put down and the staff started clearing up the whole place roundabout us. 10 mins later I got up to see if we were getting our coffee as the staff who served us were clearing the cafe and I thought they had forgotten about the coffee. Eventually coffee arrived. People were coming in the other exit door and they were all being told at 2.50 pm we are closed. One group of walkers were told we can give you a takeaway coffee which they looked horrified at, it was snowing and wet outside. The person in charge was charging about in such a fashion that what was meant to be a relaxing family coffee was just stressful, even our teenagers commented that this was just stressful. People were leaving and we were told they were closing. Eventually by 3.15 as I was trying to finish my coffee we were told we had to leave. I visit family regularly in the area and this used to be a favourite over the years when there was a friendly welcome and fantastic home baking. The tray bakes had been clearly taken out of the single packets that were on sale. I will never go there again which is a pity in such a beautiful area. If this was down in Glasgow or Edinburgh where there is much competition I'm afraid they would be out of business. No idea of customer service. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Having never finished a cafe or restaurant nachos in my life, as always too filling, this was huge and my first thought was 'no way'. It was delicious, and it was finished to the very last tortilla chip. A combination of an awesome bowl full of food and a hungry hiker. I bought a latte here for a friend (the Manager made it) and she said it was nice. I bought one for myself the following day which was made by a different member of staff. It was basically hot milk with a flavour of coffee. It was also grey. I can only describe it like someone had put a shot of tea-strength coffee in the milk. I just thought that she had maybe made a mistake when she prepared the espresso shot so I explained the problem and asked if she might be able to put another shot in it. She said that I would need to pay 55p extra but after some words in the kitchen did agree to do it. I saw the tea-like coffee come out of the machine and when I tasted it again it tasted exactly the same. At this point the Manager came out and started to angrily explain how they load up their espresso shots. I asked if I could return the coffee. (I wasn’t requiring a lecture, I just wanted a drinkable coffee). He threw the £2.75 into my hand.

Lovely cosy cafe which is a perfect escape on a chilly day. Varied menu offering soup, breakfast, nachos, sandwiches, toasties, and baked potatoes with a large selection of fresh toppings and fillings. Portions were amazing for the price! Only thing that would have made it better is a couple more vegan options. There are enough to get by thankfully but would have made my day to see a vegan sponge cake Maybe some houmous added to the toppings list too! Other than that, absolutely cannot fault it. My family had very impressive sandwiches and toasties and my soup portion was a lovely surprise compared to some of the places I've been lately! Honestly,I wonder if there are other places around nearby for food, so we did not have much choice I think and that answered why it was so crowded. A nice spacious cafe adjacent to the info center. There are artwork up on sale in the cafe that does lift up the ambiance. The food is nice and fresh. We had panini and toasties, it came with salad and crisps. nicely toasted and fresh. We liked it. We also had a piece of cake- very dry, struggled to finish it ! A good place for a quick bite to get on with your activities in the highland!

Good food and lovely service even when busy but depends on staff working that shift. Shuts at 1500 during week at present with takeaways only from 1445. However twice this week we've gone in at 1450 one day and 1445 the other after a long walk ( according to their clock in the cafe) to be told bluntly they were shut. Don't advertise takeaways only from 1445 then not honour it. When you are able to get takeaway coffee it is good. There is also a good choice of easy to eat on the go tray bakes.

We often come here after a walk for a restorative coffee & bite to eat. The bacon sandwiches are very good, not at all greasy, and very filling. Most food is made to order and always very tasty & there are a good selection of cakes etc. Good value.

Went here for tea and snack and found the home made cakes to be very nice. I noted on trip advisor that it had good reviews for meals but since we were only on a short visit we never managed to try.

We visited this cafe with no expectations, simply seeking a place to have a cup of tea and warm up. We discovered that the menu had a wide and appealing range of vegetarian options (baked potatoes, panini and toasties with many different fillings, soup, full veggie breakfasts, etc.) so opted to have some food too.

This cafe remains one of the best places for a snack lunch in the area. Home made soup and a toastie / panini / baguette with a variety of fillings is great value and very tasty. Don’t pass it by.

We visited on a wet and windy day after walking with three children. The cafe was warm and plenty of room for the children to play within the sofa and toy area. The lunches were amazing, really good quality food.

Can't recommend this place enough - we came in from the cold snow to fantastic hot chocolate and coffee, big hearty portions of tasty food, and friendly staff. Good vegetarian options for my partner as well. A very happy pair of customers!

Lovely staff, plentisome food, good vegetarian options. Perfect after a walk/mountain bike ride. The veggie nachos were mountainous, but could do with stronger/homemade flavours (mature cheese, jalapeños & fresh guac.?)

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

We both had the Sunday Roast which was ok but we had to order extra gravy which is the 1st time I’ve ever been charged for extra gravy. The restaurant was very quiet only a couple of tables in and the service was ok
