We have dined here several times whilst on holiday in the area and always enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. This time, unfortunately, the bar and restaurant were empty when we arrived - hence no atmosphere. The duck on noodles was pretty salty - as folk who don't use salt in any cooking, or on the table, it really was far too much. The creme brulee was superb.

Visited yesterday with my mum, they had a Tapas option Special. £15 for 3 dishes. ( u can select from about 10 choices) Normally in restaurant tapas are very small, I can honestly say we ordered 3 each and it was too much, we even took left overs home. The food quality was amazing and the taste was the best I had outside of Spain. Highly recommend. You can have just on course at the cost of £6. I had chicken and chorizo skewers, pastas brava and honey glazed chipalotos . Mum had garlic mushroom, the chicken and chorizo skewers and a Seabass Ragu. Large size portions and very tasty. Worth a visit for sure.

We stayed over night on the way north.. a front facing large bedroom , huge window with view of dunes and sea, very nice The room recently decorated, very clean, comfortable bed, tv, bucket chairs and small table.the usual furniture A quite hotel, nice restaurant, food simple but good and well presented, decor ok, place to sit with tables outside with sea breeze’s.. it could do with an info booklet although info could be on the tv, but I prefer booklets .. front facing window , the room can be a bit hot but the heavy curtains helps with the heat, a window that opens but no idea how.. as it is very high up.. A few lounge areas with comfortable looking armchair's..staff very good , restaurant excellent.. Altogether a very nice stay..

Stayed here a few years ago and really enjoyed the Table D'Hote menu. This year we were visiting the area in a caravan and decided to dine here. Of course, everything has changed. However, the menu was fairly wide ranging, the service was friendly and efficient and we enjoyed the experience.

I booked this meal over a week ago and it was dealt with by a member of staff with an excellent telephone manner which made me feel confident in the booking. I then had to call on the day to check my reservation and again spoke to someone I later found out was Abbie. Abbie could not have been more pleasant and helpful and I looked forward to going for my meal. When my sister and I arrived, we were greeted by Hailey. From start to finish,Hailey made us feel welcome and wanted as guests in the restaurant and nothing was too much trouble. she attended to us In a pleasant happy and humorous manner. We enjoyed our meal which was served promptly and then enjoyed a coffee outside. We were not rushed or made to feel we should be leaving and Hailey’s goodbye to us and invitation to return was very genuine. From the many places I have stayed, visited, eaten or shopped, I would say it would be hard to find a better ambassador for any business and much as I enjoyed the meal, it was Abbie and Hailey who made the evening one to remember. I believe staff make all the difference to any experience and this was certainly a positive one for us. I hope this is recognised by management. Thank you

When we arrived Hailey was very personable and welcoming whilst also maintaining a very professional approach ensuring that we were comfortable and catered for.Members of staff like these should be valued by their employers as they would both make any business a success with such outstanding customer service I hope that both women are duly recognised and rewarded for their efforts and once again I thank and applaud them for their professional hospitality.

Booked at the last minute for Sunday lunch. Served by Jimmy in the restaurant, who was very polite and welcoming. We had soup to start which was very good. For mains we had roast beef and all the trimmings. Was excellent. When eating out I always compare to how dinners are at home. Most Sunday dinners out don't compare to home cooking but this does. Portions just right and not expensive at £14.95 for 2 courses.

As locals we go to a lot of the restaurants in the area. Coast and the brassiere at the Glendower hotel are among the top and one of our favourites. The service and food are impeccable and we love to go there as often as we can. Our family have had some fantastic parties there. It’s also a regular meet up when are family come over from abroad and at home. You can’t beat the atmosphere and the excellent way you are treated. We always feel special here. I can't get over the sweet chili and red pepper jam that came with the thai crab cakes as my starter - it was that good! The venue also catered for our members with food allergies - always a good sign of somewhere that cares about its customers and also a demonstration that it cooks the food fresh. I would highly recommend a visit.

We have stayed at the hotel on a few occasions and eaten in the restaurant at night twice. Breakfast is also served in the brasserie and is always excellent. Good choice freshly cooked and served. On our first occasion dining in the evening, I had the black pudding with bacon, Lancashire cheese and cabbage and my husband the duck spring roll. On our next visit my husband had the same starter and I had the chicken and chorizo skewers. Large portions and beautifully cooked. To follow I had the parmesan crusted chicken on our first visit and the lamb chops on our second. My husband had the fish, chips, mushy peas and bread and butter both times. The food was excellent all cooked to order with plenty of fresh vegetables. For a hotel restaurant, the portions size is massive. On both occasions we wanted the amaretto bread and butter pudding but were to full to even finish our starter and main courses. Service is also very good. Prices for food and wine are not too bad for a hotel and we had an enjoyable evening on both occasions.

We have eaten at The Coast restaurant before and had a good experience, but this time the food was poor, and the service was not much better. When you eat at a Hotel restaurant you expect a certain standard, but the Coast did not match our expectations. We arrived a little early and the Maitre D told us the table wasn't ready and asked us to wait in the bar. No sooner had we ordered a drink then he told us to come through to the restaurant. He didn't offer to carry our drinks which most places do. We would have liked a bottle of wine with our meal but we still had full drinks from the bar. For the starters we had salt and pepper Calamari and Grilled Camembert which were both nice. My wife had Lamb Chops for her main which were also good, but I ordered the Sirloin Steak which was fatty and had lots of gristle. When I complained about the steak the waiter said "well, to be fair, you have eaten most of it". Not the sort of response I was expecting. When I had finished my drink the waiter took away my empty glass but didn't ask me if I wanted another drink, so I had to call him back. Generally I thought that the attitude of the young waiter was very poor and he obviously didn't care whether you enjoyed the meal or not. Very disappointing. We will not bother with the Coast restaurant again.

Initially I was very pleasantly surprised nice decor friendly welcome, the soup starter and bread was wonderful the cocktail looked and tasted great, the sandwiches were OK, well filled (sadly bread past its best had they used fresh bread it would have been much nicer but not terrible as it was) but when the deserts came I was blown away by the poor quality shop bought chocolate chip mini muffin the slither of chocolate brownie both in an attempt to be disguised by putting a dollop of cream and a berry on, I buy both of these items from a local cheapie shop for my grandchildren so a bit of cream and an attempt to disguise then just didn't work, the small scones were also of poor quality and available at the said cheap shop, the macaroons were also a one box serves 50 people kind of macaroon. I can't tell you just how disappointed I was with this. At £16.95pp I don't expect the ritz but I equally don't expect B&M or ALDI. For this reason I would never return although purchased on Groupon so paid just short of £25 for two of us, the main aim of groupon is an advertising tool and as such it failed. Started off great ended up very disappointing. Five stars however our waitress and the FOH lady with the spiked hair both friendly welcoming and the best assets we witnessed

Our club has used the Glendower for our Christmas lunch for the past 24 years but not anymore. The standard, quality and value for money has steadily slipped these past 3 years but this years was the worst.Cold plates, warmed up and under cooked food that was obviously microwaved before serving and also obviously made the day before. For starters, Tomato soup, of the cheapest variety, hardly the stuff of a christmas lunch.Salmon on the starter menu and repeated in the main menu, obviously to save any effort on the part of the kitchen.Unprepared, straight from the bag frozen veg that was not properly heated.Turkey parcels wrapped in bacon that was from the day before and not properly warmed through. The sauce had been burnt and an attempt had been made to cover up the problem by adding salt to everything.Only one option given for sweet and that was Christmas pudding. When one member asked for an alternative they were given strawberries with sugar. The only hint that we were having a christmas luncheon was that we were given a cheap cracker each that PoundLand would have been embarrassed to sell.It was utterly disgusting.

Went to a Xmas lunch with a local group of astrologers on Sunday. This is an annual event which we all look forward to. However sadly over the years the catering has gone downhill. A few years ago all the little details that make you feel special were there, streamers, crackers, balloons, mince pies and chocolates with the coffee after the meal. This year it was down to crackers only. The turkey was tough and hard to cut the xmas pudd bland and soggy, the sauce that came with it tasted burned. There was no choice of dessert this year, in the past there was usually 3 or 4 choices. However I must say the salmon was absolutely delicious!! Overall disappointing and poor value for money. Such a shame cos the venue is lovely. We will be looking for a new venue next year.

We have a meal here 4 or 5 times a year when friends stay at the hotel. They stay for a few nights and have always enjoyed the varied menu choice and quality of food and service as have we. This last time they said the meals were not as good as they were also fed up of the limited choice too. We went and were disappointed with the lack of service, limited menu and extremely small portion. It was embarrassing for them so we didnt complain as much as we would have by ourselves. We all had three portions and I was still hungry as was my husband. The butternut squash I expected turned out to be literally, a smear on the edge of the plate. You could eat that it was a decoration! My husband also waited for his vegetables and when we eventually caught someones eye (not busy) the waiter pointed to the smear of orange on the side of my plate and said the potato was under the duck. I needed a magnifying glass to see it. He did not say do you want to order some vegetables just walked away. (maybe he was fed up with the changes) similar with husbands dish. Our friends also were awaiting theirs! Ive recommended this restaurant to a number of local people as we live close by. My daughter and I have had afternoon tea here a number of times and were very pleased and impressed each time. I would not recommend again. I believe a long standing chef has left so a friend told me afterwards, is this the reason for the changes? Why fix something that is not broken?!

We booked to eat at the Glendower on a saturday evening in December, I phoned ahead to book our table. On doing so I was told that we had to arrive before 8pm as there was a Christmas party in. I asked would we have to leave the table at all during the night, and the member of staff assured me we would be welcome to dinner service and to stay as long as we require. Our party of 4 arrived at 7.45pm and were greeted, after finding our own way into a cold dining room, which was on the side of the hotel. The restaurant had 4 other tables eating at the time. We were seated very promptly by the uptight and very stiff waiter and asked what we would like to order. After allowing us around 3 minutes to decide, he was back over promoting our choices, no sense of relaxation, everything very much rushed. We ordered from the Winter a la carte menu (2 courses £20, 3 courses £25) along with drinks. The drinks had to be asked to come around 3 times before they were actually given to us.After this time the other tables in the dining room started to leave which left us alone in the cold room with FM radio playing in the background. Our starters came and went, food is decent but very small portions. Waiters cleared plates that were empty before waiting for everyone at the table to finish, which I cannot stand from waiting staff.Main courses came around 2 mins after the starters were cleared, food was average at best this time. I ordered a steak (£2.50 supplemented price) overdone steak with overcooked, slightly burnt chips. I had to ask for a sauce as it was that tasteless. We were never asked if our food was ok, or given any kind of attention this time. Once this course was complete waiters again cleared plates incorrectly. The mood is just horrible the whole evening not a smile from any of the waiting staff and very rood at times. Once the dessert had been cleared we never saw any of the waiting staff again and simply left our money on the table. no thank you or goodbye or even any presence at all. We voiced our concern to the (deputy manager) on the hotel reception as we walked out, telling her our dismay in the whole evening, she offered to give us a bottle of wine to walk home with...? very odd but we declined and left. I have to say this is some of the worst service i have experienced from a Restaurant. Especially from the (potentially restaurant manager). This guy has a serious attitude problem and seriously needs to learn how to treat guests properly.I'm sorry but we won't be returning.

The afternoon tea was very well presented, choice of three sandwiches each from a menu of six, freshly baked cherry and sultana scone with clotted cream and little jars of Tiptree strawberry jam, and last but definitely not least, a very imaginative array of cakes - a tiny cone of lemon cream, mini victoria sponge with cream and jam, fruit pannacotta in a shot glass and deliciously rich chocolate-mousse cake - all presented on a glass topped box which contained a lovely seaside themed display of sand and shells! The service, by David the Assistant Manager, was impeccable. We were greeted warmly, offered a choice of seating and the attention before, during and after our relaxed afternoon tea, was perfect. We were offered a second pot of tea which came at just the right time.I have had afternoon tea at both The Ritz and The Savoy in London and the standard of this one was just as good. I would highly recommend the Glendower for afternoon tea and will certainly be going again as often as possible!

Family of four taking breakfast after a good night in the hotel. The buffet selection was reasonable. The waiter service, full breakfast was perfect for the day ahead.

We stayed in this hotel last year and were very impressed with the dinner menu and service, so decided to return for dinner whilst staying at the local Caravan Club Site. Not disappointed with the food but it was a pity that most of the diners didn't seem to bother about dress code - casual is an understatement! Such a shame when the restaurant, and the hotel in general exudes a touch of old world luxury

This year our wedding anniversary fell on a Sunday and we decided to have a day by he sea. We booked for lunch in the Coast Restaurant. We selected from the a la carte menu which was available at lunch time. The food was French style cuisine and was excellent. The service too could not have been better. There was a pianist playing which gave it a nice ambiance. All in all, a lovely dining experience and we would definitely visit again.

We booked afternoon tea. It was a special rate with Groupon. The cost was £23.00 per couple. I don't consider it good value. The whole experience was very sweet cocktail, very little in the way of savoury, and all the rest was extremely sweet. Talk about a sugar rush!

My wife suffers from a wheat and dairy intolerance finds it difficult to get meals to suit.what a pleasure it was to find the waiting staff very knowledgeable in the food ingredients, it added to the overall dining experience which we could not falt

Booked afternoon tea as a surprise for my daughter in law. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were greeted by a pleasant waitress with a cocktail, which was delicious, then she brought canapes, again lovely, then the afternoon tea which comprised of sandwiches, scone, clotted cream and jam, then a trio of desserts on a lovely box filled with sea shells. It was all very nice and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Incompetent and rude waiters, trying to be over familiar.Request something and sit back and, even after repeated reminders.Evening dinner will take forever and even though the food is delicious, it does NOT justify the wait, especially when young children are LAST to be served.

We've had lots of afternoon tea...Clarifies, Savoy included but this takes some beating, it was superb! We chose the cocktail option where we started with gorgeous canapés and fabulous service from a young waitress and older waiter who orchestrated our courses exactly to our requirements. The surroundings were beautiful and very relaxing. I just wish we had chosen this hotel to stay at.. Will do next time!

The menu was inviting but the food did not live up to the menu, the meat was very overlooked and dry, the desert so sweet it was impossible to taste any individual flavour.Service was good

I have today been for afternoon tea with my friend to the Glendower hotel. It was excellent. The food was the best and the only thing I could complain about was how hard to was to choose what to eat next. The staff were very good and returned quite a few times to make sure that everything was fine. Well done the Glendower Hotel.

We stayed at the hotel, check out my reviews regarding that! Not good! However, had our breakfast in Coast, great food, fast and friendly service and quality food. David the Deputy Manager works very hard and so does his team.

City restaurants could learn a thing or two from this restaurant, from the waiting staff, cleanliness to the amazing food and the stunning presentation! I cannot fault anything about this restaurant, nothing is to much bother the waiting staff are so passionate and proud about the food they are bringing out. They know everything about every dish and cannot wait to answer questions, but equally know when to take a step back. Unfortunately I didn't get the names of the guys waiting on my table but I should have as they deserve recognition for their outstanding service. All in all a wonderful experience, thank you to all at the Coast restaurant, I will be back soon.

Beautiful restaurant with very modern and tasty dishes. Presentation here is the best I've ever seen and the portions are just about the right size so you can slip in a pudding. It was nice of chef Craig to come and tell us about the dishes in detail. Also a special mention to Steven who made us laugh all the way through. Highly recommended.

Great value - 2 or 3 courses from £20 - £25- the quality of the food and presentation would demand a much higher price in most cities. Could not fault it - service from friendly attentive staff was excellent.

I made a booking for afternoon tea as a treat for my mums birthday. The booking was for 3.30pm and a table laid in the window so we were expected. Our first waiter brought our menu and our cocktails and they were lovely. We the. did not see anybody for 25 mins when a different waitress took our order. Yet another waiter then brought our soup (my bread was obviously the end slice as it was hard on one side) and teas and said he would be back in 5-10 mins. We then waited an hour!! We eventually received our sandwiches after 5pm and feeling rather uncomfortable as the guests had gathered around our table waiting to enter the dining room for their evening meal! We even had to ask for more tea as the first serving had gone cold as we had waited so long.We felt forgotten and totally undervalued. This meal was to make my mum feel special but had the opposite effect and I certainly wouldn't recommend the Glendower.

I need to write this review .for my personnel experice of taking my dog to the Glendower Hotel we have stayed several times with our dog.And yes we have asked the ruling on the dogs rules in the hotel. We understood that out of consideration of other guest staying at the hotel. We could eat in the lounge area or have room service.this was excellant the dog was given a lovely warm blacket to bowls provided.this was what we did for our dining arrangements and always been treted well by all the Glendower Staff. Visited at the end of January 2015, Sunday to Wednesday. Booked at the hotel after visiting to check out where dogs were allowed etc as we have 2 small friendly dogs. Agreed a price and paid in full at the time. The hotel is beautifully presented and has a great location. Rooms are spacious and clean. The only thing that spoilt it for us was the eating arrangements for people with dogs. We were only allowed in the lounge which meant eating on a coffee table, not good with a bad back!We would have eaten there in the evening had there been a Dining table or two. Some thought could be given to providing this when guests with dogs are staying. The staff also seemed to find it a pain having to serve us in there. In fact on our last day the waitress did not speak or acknowledge us even when spoken to. The staff did try to charge us extra for the dogs when we were checking out and were adamant we owed another £40. I explained we had agreed the price and how it was broken down. I even explained which employee had dealt with us. They denied there was such a person, even though he had been on reception the night before we left. They eventually backed down but this left a sour taste in our mouths. All in all - would we visit again? No probably not :(

Magnificent! A truly delightful and pleasant afternoon tea. The soup was flavoursome and you each had a choice of three sandwiches. The meat was tender and the breads all fresh and individual for each filling (there were non meat choices too). The cakes and scones were presented beautifully. All this was served with pots of tea and a beautiful winter berry prosecco cocktail. What more could you ask for!!! We enjoyed this so much we have booked Sunday lunch today!!!!

Had a delivery tonight as have been busy. Didn’t wait long, I had chips, fish, peas and curry sauce, it was absolutely bob on(delicious in other words). Charles had truffle chips ( oh my goodness, totally different but scrumptious). Will certainly go again 😋😋💯
