Coast Cafe & Gift Shop in Conwy

Brought my girlfriend to Wales for the first time. First place we decided to stop was the Coast Cafe. Very cool decor, delicious food, lovely souvenirs.

Sitting at a table as it had ample room for the kids and pram, only to be told to move as the table is “reserved for people with dogs”. Go to Marmalade - they made room for everyone and the pram, you know, actually made to feel welcome!

The food is really good and it's themed very well

Busy little place 11am on a sunny Saturday in late February. Got seated quickly and someone came and took our order quickly. Friendly young girl who took our order. Seemed popular with dog walkers as there was about 4 dogs in there. Lady in her 70s happily sat there watching the world go by with a chilli con carne and a glass of white wine (life goals). Drinks and Eccles cake brought over in about 5 minutes (probably fastest we’ve ever been served on our Saturday traditional new cappuccino hot spots). Tea brought in a pot (enough for 2 cups), cappuccino didn’t have a cappuccino feel though and felt just like a strong espresso coffee with foam on top (hence 4 out of 5 stars) not creamy like a cappuccino should. Got an ice cream from their ice cream shop next door and brought it in with us. Nicely positioned on the prom. Yeah it’s nice. Good range of sweet treats on display.

Great place, friendly staff, and a lovely gift shop to browse after your lunch.

One of our favourite places to visit and very friendly staff, food is of a high standard and very important for us is it has a dog friendly part, Highly recommended

Great little cafe I come here often with my Mrs and my little boy and never have had an issue great customer service and very friendly.

Food isnt very nice, Mouldy Chips, Welsh rarebit is to tangy, waiting times can also be very long, dirty plates cups and cutlery. I guess the chicken goujons were alright, bit dry though

I had a rather painful experience when visiting the Coast. I sent the following:- ————————————————————- Unfortunately I trapped a finger on your door handle by the entrance near the Chemist. Whilst it’s sore it could have been worse I guess. That said Nicola brought me a damp cloth and recorded this in the Accident book. If you could just satisfy yourself it’s ok and give Nicola “a pat on the back” ————————————————————— No response or apology from the proprietor . Incidentally I requested the Accident book and waited several minutes.

Great place to nip in, have a drink, lunch, etc Some staff are very nice, friendly, some don't see you. Its a very nice, clean place. Good menu, prices not bad. Dog friendly. When you walk through the door, right side is for dog owners, left is for non dog owners. Problem is, non dog owners sit on the right first, which isn't far as this areas is very small and non dog area is big. Because they allow non dog owners to sit on this side, the dirty looks you get off customers, the looking up and down type, make you feel uncomfortable ( first time I asked the staff if I was sitting in the wrong area) I get not everyone likes dogs, animals, fur, etc and that is fine, but do not sit in a dog area. This does need to be sorted.

We tried this cafe for lunch on a rainy Monday. A bit disappointed there were no hot cooked lunches on the menu just sandwiches. Toasties, paninies and sandwiches with a few lettuces leaves and crisps for £8.00 plus. Service was fast and the toilets immaculate.

I don't generally go here as I've been slightly disappointed a couple of times. However, it was late in the afternoon and 3 other places were closed. Had the rarebit, it was poor and I had to leave it. I hate wasting food, and money. The coleslaw wasn't great either. Went on to Fortes which I also usually avoid, and the food was good and inexpensive.

Great place, reasonable prices and marvellous staff

The best bacon sandwich and cup of tea anywhere in the town. The roll was so fresh, the bacon was thick cut and cooked to perfection. Pointers for 1 gets you 3 cups of tea. Staff were lovely and even at this time of year were so busy. The best place in town, highly recommend you stop here if only for a bacon sandwich.

Overpriced, oddly different standard of food when you takeaway, small portions, cheap ingredients, a coronation chicken sandwich with no chicken...

First time here. Visiting friends in the area. Lovely cafe, nice decor, very friendly, great staff and dog friendly area too!

Had never been to Rhos on Sea before & decided to drive here from Llandudno on our November break for a sunny walk along the promenade. We needed some lunch & decided to try Coast, it's set back from the main road straight opposite the little gardens near the small harbour. It's a big, bustling, busy cafe with 2 entrances, 1 through the small gift shop. There was a large choice on the menu, my husband only wanted a coffee & a large slice of caramel cake from the cabinet, he said it was very nice. I had a tuna mayo bap with crisps & salad & a tea, it was all fresh & enjoyable. The staff were very friendly & there were obviously a lot of regular locals visiting. We would definitely recommend Coast & would visit again in future, the price was average for a seaside cafe.

Watered down soup think they must have run out … tasteless and no substance to it waste of money

Lovely cafe, near the sea front. Well staffed and everyone looked after. I had a bacon bap which I can recommend. I would certainly visit again, if I am in the area.

While looking for property in the area I visited a number on times now, the foods consistently excellent. Always busy but the staff are amazing. Often watching out for the locals particularly solo visitors …every one is friendly and helpful. I have even made a new friend there … Once again the staff kept an eye their regular customer to ensure she was safe we need more people like this in the world!

Situated on the Rhos On Sea front so the cafe looks out to sea. Surprisingly deceptive inside with a distinct beachy feel. Alcohol and non Alcoholic drinks served at reasonable prices. We had cakes and coffee so my latte was good and scone very good. Staff very friendly and provide good service. Children and adults catered for. Worth a visit

Visited today with my severely disabled daughter in a large wheelchair, the approach to cafe is a narrow sloped path with tables to your right, we were well on the ramp to the entrance before the manager Daniel approached with a coffee and cake in hand, instead of him stepping aside as we continued our path in he stood in front of my daughters chair and gave me a very confrontational/dirty look, I said "what's wrong with you" he replied "I've got a coffee here" I said "is that your biggest problem" there was absolutely nowhere for us to move aside it is also an incline, we got inside he came up behind us saying "do you want a table" we said yes he then said "well then be nice" his tone and attitude was very intimidating and rude ! We obviously turned and walked out, no compassion or helpfulness was shown to us whatsoever he could clearly see how I may struggle. We went just around the corner and from the second we approached the door the staff there were so helpful and compassionate and accommodating to us but to be honest thankfully this is how we are usually greeted by business owners. This experience is thankfully a one off and after doing my research I see I am not the only person that has been received this way by him so in my humble opinion DANIEL it is DEFINATELY YOU who NEEDS TO BE NICE!!

Great atmosphere and high quality food. The cafe was busy at lunchtime and there was a queue, but patrons were speedily seated. We will be back.

First visit. Got one order wrong then charged me for the wrong table of food. Mistake was refunded but only when I questioned this. Not sure I would visit again.

Lovely seaside cafe. Food is fab with a good selection. Reasonably priced. Just one ladies toilet so sometimes there's a queue.

Lovely little gem, but sorry our late lunch today wasn't up to scratch what we thought it would be from of the specials board, Beef pie and Lasagne mmm sounds nice! Ordered by waiter number 1 , brought by another waiter no 2 Lunch Came it was a Dish of Beef with frozen rock hard pastery on top of the pie witch my husband removed he didn't like the look of the pie at all (in a dish) and left his, apart from the few chips on the side he eaten. He didn't want me to say anything, but when put my 1st Lasagne onto my plate and went to tuck in it, it was cold Lasagne witch then I had to ask another waiter no 3 to take it back. Waitress no 3 explained that they were making me another Lasagne, 2nd Lasagne arrived by waiter no 4 But How much cheese must of been half a pound of Chadder Cheese in this 2nd Lasagne this was so so stringy it was choking me. I Had to take it all out. This then filled 1/2 the tin dish it came in. Didn't want to complain the 2nd time around as i didn't want to look like the devil 😈! But no one came over to ask if everything was OK with our meals! Witch was disappointed by us, has we have called here many of times. I Have had to write this because it is always full of customers and I think staff should have there own sections of tables so they can concentrate and look after there customers better.

Stopped here yesterday, we were grateful to find it allowed us inside with our dog (in a special area). We had two of their salads which were very tasty and of a good size. Eating with a dog in tow can be stressful but was nice and relaxed here.

Popular cafe - we had to wait for a table but it was worth it. Food was good, service was efficient and the staff were friendly.

LOVED it!! Proper seaside Cafe with grown-up charm and decor. Lovely bonus sitting right in front of the promenade. Huge selection of Homemade Cakes inside to choose from (trust me there is something for everyone).. a must if you come to Colwyn Bay. Will deffo come again and make a special pit stop if travelling beyond Colwyn.

We needed somewhere in a hurry for breakfast and this place was already very busy first thing in the morning. We thought there must be a reason for its being so popular so we went in. We just had the traditional full breakfast, but veggie and vegan choices are available. It was good food quickly served, plenty of it, and I really liked the hash browns, not usually a favourite choice. Decent pot of tea, too. We did ask for an extra teabag before we started, but we do that everywhere. Will definitely call again next time we're in the area. I liked the signs on the loo doors. ☺️

Food wasn't the best, little dry Service though first class

This place portrays it is dog friendly and has a dog friendly area. However , if the area in the place that is not dog friendly is full and there are tables in the dog friendly area free the sit people without dogs there. Then when you go in with a dog, there are no tables. And you have to wait. This is not a true dog friendly establishment, if you have a dog. Avoid it. They are trying to please both and failing miserably on the dog friendly front.

Nice cafe in Rhos on sea situated facing water front. Assorted meals, snacks,cakes and drinks. Friendly staff. Dog friendly area in front part of cafe.

Found experience overwhelming and confusing. If new, it's stressful, for take out coffee, wait to be served at the door, order coffee at till, told to wait outside, didn't know what that meant, didn't know how long to wait for, eventually I was saved by one of the young servers, who explained it all. Restored my faith, in waiting. Was ready to leave. The coffee was brilliant, hot and in a nice sized cup. All in all, impressive. Now that I know the process, of how to get coffee, might come again. Actually, will come again and this time enjoy some food, to appreciate the full service.

The food and drink at coast is always first class.

Thursday 13th June 2024 Had a meal here today with a friend Paul.. I had jacket potato, cheese bacon strips and stallard, absolutely lovely not had a jacket for about 10 years, Paul had bacon and egg bap said it was very nice.. Staff are very lovely and accommodating.. I will be back and would recommend 👌 5⭐️ in my opinion I left a good tip..

Food was OK cream cheese could of had more flavour or used a goat cheese. Coffee was very good though.

A busy and popular place with efficient service lovely variety of food from drinks through. Lite botes and main meals. Great range of cakes if you just want cake and beverages. Dogs welcomed if owners are well behaved and access to all. Toilets available to customers ( public toilets almost opposite on Rhos on Sea seafront) good amount of free parking nearby.

We always come to this cafe on our way to Llandudno. Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and superb food.

Nice coffee and cake at reasonable price. Friendly staff, clean tables. Dog friendly section of the cafe, so you can choose to sit in the dog friendly part or dog free part. Cafe was almost full, but it’s no wonder.

Great food, busy little place, we were a large party of 7, felt that our waitress was a little impatient at times. But other than that all good.

A good range of pastries are available to go with your drink. The staff are cheerful and friendly, and they bring your drink to the table.

Called in 10th April. Had 2 lemon buns and 2 coffees. Buns obviously not fresh, coffee too weak to taste. Staff not interested, too busy wrestling behind the counter. Tables dirty outside. Total waste of money I'm afraid.....

Lovely food and v nice staff but they need to sort their queuing system out. They were v v busy and asked us to wait outside for approx 20 mins which was OK but we saw a few groups coming out and couples who had arrived after us were given the tables. A bit annoying. Food v nice and would recommend

Really like Coast, very clean, well run, good food and pleasant service. We like to walk along the front from Old Colwyn to Rhos-on-sea and Coast is nice reward! Dogs are welcome with plenty of outside seating if the weather is good
