Beer was flat and tasted like dirty pipes and food not great

Four of us booked sat night for 6.30pm, hadn't been for a while...place looks lovely with refurb. Food superb all our steaks done as we liked them...puddings homemade delicious staff attentive great atmosphere.Highly recommend.

Guest ales with very tasty home cooked food, a good decent portion, tasty deserts and amazing chips. A desert and main dinner for under £15 which actually fills you up, will definitely visit again.

Nice pub with good food at reasonable prices, and very pleasant staff. It was very quiet when we were there, so not much atmosphere, but still a nice place to eat.

It a very amazing place I will be visiting again

Popped in for lunch on a sunny Saturday, sat outside. Good service and a good menu. Had couple of meals and both were lovely, I didn't eat both the wife has the other!

Overall great food, excellent service with very nice staff. The portions were very filling, the waiter was very polite and respectful. Very nice vibe.

Absolutely gorgeous home cooked food. I’d read some good reviews so decided to give it a go and was not disappointed. I had a burger which tasted like steak, my friend had steak which melted in her mouth. The chips were amazing, like mum used to make. I will definitely be eating there on a regular basis. The new decor is lovely, the staff were friendly and it was so clean everywhere. Lovely outside seating area too. You will not be disappointed.

Had a roast dinner today , was a last minute plan, ordered at the bar, arrived within ten minutes, fresh vegetables, hot, big portion and the gravy was out of this world…. Staff very friendly and attentive…..definitely recommend this pub …. Welldone to the team

Popped in for lunch. Filled up relatively quickly with people for food after opening so that was a good sign. A reasonably priced pub grub menu, with a huge pile of chips. The chicken in cheese and bacon sauce was nice, though some of the chicken was a bit dry. The double burger was huge with lots of salad and cheese. The quality of the burger meat was not great, these are frozen burgers with low quality meat however if you are hungry and given the low price it was passable. Beer selection is poor though, Madri and Carling being the lager options.

Popped in to see how the refurbishment works has gone and pleasantly surprised at how cosy and warm it is now... The new name "Coachhouse" makes it feel more historical as the old name Red Lion didn't quite feel right. It does accommodation and has outdoors seating area which up at the top of the Bailey near the indoor Oswestry Market is a rare thing to find. Frank, the landlord proprietor is a great person, and I'll be coming back soon to have a drink and some food.. Overall, it now looks pretty good, so do pop in if you've never been here before...

Great food all home cooked great value for money

A year later and the Red Lion has become The Coachhouse (it used to be one) after an extensive refurb which finally means the look matches the people and quality. Regency green and new comfy chairs, gorgeous details and the menu IS THE SAME! *confetti and trumpets* Which is to say the best chips in britain (fight me!), perfectly cooked soul-warming british fayre. If you are on the fence know this: if I didn't have an immune deficiency I'd have hugged the landlords when i saw them! I missed this place. I feel safe and welcomed here despite having zero social skills. The food is one of the few things i can fight my agoraphobia for! Please, trust me, if a broken shell of a human can be this enthusiastic there has to be something in it, right? Try the chicken filet sandwichy burger... you won't regret it! *** Best chips in oswestry, best egg mayo sandwich and chicken burger in britain! and most importantly the loveliest, kindest hostess and friendliest staff ever! so kind and understanding of mental health issues and neurodiversity (i'm autistic, hence only being able to comment on two meal options!) you won't regret going!

Wow just wow the first time I've ever been defeated by a meal, ordered the tower burger thinking it'll be ok, bloke at the side of us has his delivered we said "Is that the tower burger" yes he says, wife looks at us and says "You're in trouble".............. The wife wasn't wrong I was, what a meal cannot fault it at all the chips where hand cut and cooked to perfection, the service was superb no wonder they get good reviews. Definitely stopping there for a bite when we return we can't recommend enough.

We had a rib eye steak, onion rings, proper home made coleslaw with home made Mayo and a ton of chunky chips! And gammon egg and a ton of chips. All home made. Excellent. We like real ale and there was no selection just one on the hand pump. The staff were friendly and helpful with my Lacto intolerance.

Popped into this pub on Saturday 26 August with my daughter for a bite to eat. We weren't disappointed. Lovely meal and the chips were definitely home made. Hoping to take my sister in there this coming week

Can’t recommend this place enough. We’ve never had a bad meal here, the chicken curry is a favourite, absolutely delicious.

A small pub serving food in the heart of Oswestry. Decent sized menu with all the usual offerings, steak, burgers, pies, fish... Mainly all with chips. Food was acceptable, huge portions, reasonable price but uninspiring.

Just had a very lonely time - not their fault - thoroughly enjoying some great food and a pint with Mrs. Despite the obvious difficulties caused by Covid-19, the staff are trying to keep things ‘normal’ and we applaud them for it! Thank you for a most pleasant evening 👍🏻

Very quiet, beer wasn't too bad however we are certain our food was microwave heated... My partners lasagne was a combination of lasagne and cottage pie and thought it was vile. I had the chilli which was ok but the tortilla chips seemed stale. Will be going elsewhere next time.

The Red Lion Inn commonly known as the top red is a popular venue for locals especially on market days, the clientele on a Wednesday are usually of an older generation. The farmers from surrounding villages can be found in the top red discussing current farming affairs & the price of a good effervescent to story's of years gone by. The Top Red also attracts the younger end of the Town, out for fun, it's a well kept clean public house that do good home cooked meals with ingredients bught on the door step in the market, Top Red as my thumbs up....

Looks can be deceiving. The homemade fish pie is the best I've ever had!! Also the curry!!! To be honest, even the sandwiches are fabulous. Try this out as the owners are great and look after us very well. Would definitely recommend

Fantastic food. Only negative is that it took about 45 minutes (pub was empty) but that's fair enough given it was all cooked fresh.
