They really need to sort out their system. Not for their first time we went for breakfast and booked in the restaurant. They couldn’t find the booking but said sit anywhere. We took a table only to be told we were in the conservatory and we should order at the counter rather than be in the restaurant and get table service. Then told when I tried to order an extra item “it doesn’t work like that” when we’d done exactly that the previous time. Food was ok but the needlessly over complicated system (are you in the conservatory or the restaurant, when it all looks part of the same place)!really lets them down.

This is a country house café/restaurant where you would expect a high quality of food. We had a Ploughman’s of ham and cheese and also a humus salad. The ham is processed not fresh and low quality, the cheddar cheese is mild and tasteless, the lettuce was, brown at the edges and the humus was pretty thin & tasteless. Not really what you would expect from a country house Kitchen. Service was fine pleasant staff

We went for lunch without a booking, which wasn't a problem and we were seated promptly. We ordered drinks and food (2x Roast Beef). The drinks took 30 minutes and the food took over an hour to arrive to several tables including ours. The roast beef itself was overcooked, and the vegetable selection was carrots, potatoes, parsnips and red cabbage. The food was tasteless and bland. There were no green vegetables (although they had put broccoli in the salads). Was not worth an hour's wait. The price point was ok and the restaurant was nice to look at. Would not go again, disappointed.

The restaurant itself is very attractive and well presented, but unfortunately the food and service did not match this. We were sat down by a very pleasant hostess a few minutes later a friendly waitress took our order for two soft drinks and two roast dinners. After this point, it went downhill unfortunately. The drinks didn't arrive for about 25 minutes, and neither did those on the table next to us. Our waitress appeared to have vanished. Finally, a different waiter came along with two cans and plonked them on our table. In total, we waited about an hour for the food to arrive and it was underwhelming. Anemic looking roast potatoes, a roast parsnip and a roast carrot, plus a mound of unseasoned red cabbage. Not a green in sight, despite the salad on the table next us having broccoli. The only redeeming feature was the beef was very tender. I think that is a reflection of the meat quality rather than any skill on behalf of the chef- the fat on the beef was completely undercooked and not rendered at all. Overall it was a very long wait for a meal that was very unwhelming, which is a shame, as the location is lovely.

The tea was so good, I enjoyed it. We were six and we took four slices of cake. The location is so cute and the waitress are kind. I’ll come back.

The carrot cake wasn't so special. However, the Victoria sponge cake was good. I didn't like the tea. Very nice and quiet place. Compliments to the staff who were very quick.

I didn't like the carrot cake at all. For the rest the tea was excellent and the victory cake was good. The staff was very polite especially Veronica, a kind and polite lady. The location is very modern and clean, I was struck by the cups with a very particular pattern. I recommend everyone to come to this place.

I enjoyed eating the cake, despite generally not being a huge sweets fan. The tea was nice as well, I came here with my friends so I had a nice time here.

Amy was absolutely amazing! I went with am a little girl who is non verbal and struggles with noise and being stationary. Amy went out of way to accommodate us and brought me a hot chocolate and made sure I didn't have to move from our seat. She made our visit

Visited with family on Sunday to have a Sunday lunch, made a,reservation for 6 adults as was unsure how busy the restaurant would be. Arrived at 1pm and the welcome was less than inviting, the lady did not ask my name, she looked me up and down and gestured with her hand to a table nearby. Very much felt like an inconvenience to most staff around (there was a baby shower party in the restaurant and the majority of staff appeared focused on this) however one young lady was very helpful and served us throughout (didn't catch her name, slim girl with long dark hair, very friendly). The food was served quite quickly and was nice and hot, everybody had a roast dinner except me, I had soup and panini which was nice but nothing special. Overall an average experience that would certainly benefit from some staff training in hospitality.

Visited Hatfield House with American relatives who enjoyed salads for lunch. Our server, Neve, looked after us very well. She helped us understand the menu and made helpful suggestions. Our salads were delicious and the ambiance relaxed and airy! Would definitely return.

A really good find. We loved the grounds & site as a whole. The restaurant is lovely. Such a breath of fresh air compared to most places that serve fast food. The meals were delicious, proper seating & processing timely. However I must say, the service & staff are the beating heart of this place. Delphi in particular was so kind. Nothing was too much trouble. She was exceptionally patience & good with my younger kids.

We booked to take my mum dad, sister and brother in law here for a Sunday roast as my mum had been wanting to try it for a long time and it was a leaving dinner for them as they are moving to another country and wanted to take them somewhere nice. The only available table left was at 4:45 which we booked a week in advance. Upon arrival we said we had a booking & the waitress seemed surprised and told us that the kitchen closed in 15 mins (at 5) and that we had 12 mins to order. As it was too late to find somewhere else to go, we stayed as we were all also hungry by this point. Needless to say after having rushed our order, the food came out quickly and pretty cold ( luke warm at best), there was no point sending it back as it had been made clear upon arrival the kitchen was by this point closed, my sister hardly ate anything on her plate and mum ate half. We told the manager on duty at the end and she said she would relay the feedback to her manager and we were not given any kind of discount on the bill. I usually only write a review on here when I’m happy with a service but I’m so upset with what we had today that I feel I have to put it in writing. We will never go back to this restaurant again as we were so embarrassed that we took people here and paid full price for such poor quality food. I ate mine as i was so hungry but it was not enjoyed and there was no opportunity to fully enjoy the meal as we are used to at so many other restaurants. If the kitchen closes at 5 it should be made clear when booking online and there should be no availability behind 4pm at the absolute latest. Instead we had people cleaning and tidying up all around us.

Went to the cafe for lunch. Setup is poor from the start as the entrance is shared with the restaurant and it isn’t clear whether which tables are which and the rules about ordering, or even what is offered at each. So everyone is queuing to ask the host. The cafe has no visible menu, and with a long queue you don’t know what their full offering is until you have already passed the crisps and other snacks, at which point it’s difficult to go back and grab any such sides. Ordered paninis and drinks for 4, plus a kids meal which staff seemed to unfamiliar with. They made me trek back and push through others in the queue to grab all the component parts, when it looked to me like it would be easier for them to grab them on their non-crowded side of the counter. Only two paninis were given, and when questioned what I’m waiting for (two extra paninis), I was asked whether I had paid for them! Then whether I had the receipt to prove it. This was literally 2 mins after ordering and they hadn’t given a receipt. Paninis were not toasted so had to go back and request this… I was then further interrogated on whether I had asked for them to be toasted when ordering. I had not, because I had thought this was the default as in most places. Honestly not sure why this attitude was necessary - if toasting was an option, why didn’t they ask me when I ordered? Why is the onus on me to specify? If I’m asking for them to be toasted now (which is an option) why am I being challenged on whether I originally asked? Honestly, the weirdest balance of incompetence and aggressiveness that I’ve ever encountered in customer service. Food was rubbish too.

The drive was nice with view of the country roads. On arrival rooms are very basic not much to view apart from the Pods and fields. Unfortunately, there are no facilities at the hotel e.g. spa, gym, etc just a bar with small sitting area that closes at 12am. As your in the middle of no where you literally spend time in the room & go dinner then back to room😮💨 The hotel doesn't offer any other food e.g. Breakfast apart from the dinner which you pay for in the stay which is also overpriced. Personally, Food & drinks overated it needs to be reviewed as you can get a better variety of quality food in other places especially local vendors on your high street. The building itself is historically beautiful for private hire as you can utilize the grounds but waste of money for travel, dine & stay. You can better value & quality in Holiday Inn! Recommend to visit Pods in London instead more to do for a day & night trip.

Very nice place for Sunday roast! We did the carvery and it was very flavourful. However because they give you 2 pieces of meat no matter what, if you do get the smaller end of the meat piece, like us, the portion is considerably smaller than if you get the 2 slices from the opposite end.
