Coach and Horses Public House in East Dorset

We really like this pub and always eat here when in the area. We are here last night and as always the food was excellent. We had Vegan Meatballs and Halloumi chips to start, both yummy. Followed by Halloumi and chips for my husband and Cod and chips for myself. Both very good. Very filling too. Our server who I think was called Melissa was really nice and so good at her job. An excellent communicator. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough.

We arrived and were met by a lovely young lady We had booked but she said she had no record of our online booking No worries we were seated in a quiet corner with our three dogs We both had the roast beef Amazing homemade Yorkshire pudding Lovely tender beef with fresh vegetables and cauliflower cheese None of that horrid plate filler of red cabbage to be seen thank good Just a big home cooked Sunday roast with extra gravy Delicious and plentiful Got home to check my booking and I had booked for Sunday 25th by mistake Good butchers van in the car park with hand raised pork pies too

Well I must confess it’s been a while since we’ve been back to the Coach and Horses and had forgotten how pleasant it is. We were greeted by friendly interaction from the staff and the food was delicious especially the new Butchers Block Sharing starter . The scotch egg was perfect. Thanks to Mel and the staff . Merrick and Jane (Ginge’s nephew)

My wife and myself were recommended to go to the Coach & Horses for lunch we were greeted by a young lady who told us and showed to sign in our reg on our car , we had not booked a table and as they were busy we had to sit in the bar for our meal but it was perfectly fine clean and comfortable ordering at the bar was easy and served by a very polite and helpful bar man, we both had a Hunters Chicken and this is one i often choose as it is one my favourite meals so i know when this done well and bang on absolutely perfect and the sauce on it was perfection. So we then had Millionaires Sundae for desert again to die for so nicely presented so would we have this again with out a doubt . I would also add the young man and young lady who were attending to our table and us were so nice and attentive , they told me the Chefs name was Gemma so well done Gemma, we will be back soon.

Absolutely great pub!!! The bar staff are awesome, the food is so well priced and really tasty, they are dog friendly and they are just on the outskirts of Wimborne town so have parking. We go fairly regularly and never been disappointed. Thank you Liam, Gemma, Mel and the team.

Popped into here for lunch with my children and what a lovely place it is. The staff are great but Jackie in particular really made our visit. She went above and beyond to make our visit and made us feel so welcome. Every restaurant should have a Jackie! Food was great. Its also really nice that they have a pool table that me and my 12 year old daughter could play. We will 100% be back.

I was looking for a place for a roast dinner and this place didn’t disappoint, the food was cooked to perfection, everyone was extremely friendly and the prices affordable. Definitely worth the visit.

Travelled up from Plymouth to celebrate my LXXV11 Birthday with my daughter and her family. We had a variety of starters and mains all of which were fantastic and excellent value. The staff were all welcoming and very efficient. We all had a brilliant evening and will certainly will return. Highly recommended.

Having been to a few Greene king pubs this is by far one of my favourites to go to always friendly and welcoming staff. Food was excellent as always. I will be visiting again.

We chose the Coach & Horses for our annual "Ladies Day" lunch, based on a number of recommendations. The team organised the logistics for a group of 25 people with a range of food choices, including gluten free. All went very smoothly, everybody enjoyed the occasion. The food was excellent, served hot and in a timely manner (and with some awesome cheesecake for dessert). Very pleased.

Decided to put a review as have had 20 visits now over the last 20 months. Always friendly. Always nicely presented food. Always perfectly cooked each visit we've had. Nice cosy feel to the bar and eating area. Will keep visiting.

We eaten here a few time and every time the service and food has been excellent, the staff are welcoming and friendly and really do care about your dining experience, it’s very dog friendly, we booked online for today I didn’t see a option to say we were binging a dog (there might have been but I didn’t see it) but it was no problem,Melisa switch us to a dog friendly table, it’s definitely one of our favourite places to eat, highly recommend

This is the second time in the last couple of weeks we have visited this pub and the food was a delight on both occasions. We chose from the 2 pub classics from £11.49 both times and the fish and chips and chicken tikka masala were lovely. Good quality, decent sized portions and reasonably priced. We use Greene King pubs a lot of the time, but this was certainly one of the better ones. Food was served in good time (not too quick, or too long a wait) and was hot. Very tasty and really good friendly service. Thoroughly recommend!!!!!!!!!!

We came for a meal to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. We were made very welcome and they told us that the menu was new today, and the food may take a while to come out. It was a little while, but not too long, and when it did, it was worth the wait. The portion sizes were huge, and it tasted delicious . I then had a chocolate fondant for dessert, which was perfect and very well presented. The staff are extremely friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Thank you for a lovely end to our day.

Booked a table for 1815 hrs, arrived and was informed there was a 45 minute wait for food. In the space of time it took to get seated, the waiting time for food was an hour. Half the menu was not available and we finally got our food an hour and twenty three minutes later. Apparently the kitchen is not large enough and is improperly equipped. Not even as if the place was busy, there was four other parties in the restaurant. Here’s a thought, if you can’t cater then don’t offer food all day or even at all.

Visited with work colleagues/friends after finishing our work day. We used the app to order food and drinks which was really easy to do and our orders came out quickly. Food was delicious with generous portions and excellent value for money with the offer on pub classics. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Went after work with a few colleges, nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff.Hannah and Melissa were our waitresse's and were fabulous. We visited this pub whilst on holiday in Dorset. We were greeted by Melissa who explained the set up in a friendly and professional manner. We enjoyed 3 courses from the Seniors menu - soup, mac n cheese, and apple pie. The food was delicious, the portions were a decent size and we were satisfyingly replete at the end. We paid an amazing £7.99 for the three courses. We were served by Melissa and Vikkie who were attentive and friendly, despite the restaurant filling up in the hour or so we were there. Well done Coach and Horses.

This is the second time we have visited this pub in the last 2 months. Both times we were greeted by a friendly member of staff (Melissa) she was very friendly and despite having to run around serving other customers, she always had time for a friendly chat and to make sure we had everything we needed.The food and service was spot on and I would highly recommend this pub .

We were enjoying a week's staycation and stopped for evening meal on Thursday 24th. From the moment we arrived we had a lovely warm greeting from Melissa who then looked after us throughout our visit. First impressions count for everything and Melissa certainly projected a warm professional attitude. The food was excellent and arrived very quickly was hot and of very good quality. Excellent menu which must contain something for all. We will most certainly seek out this establishment next time in the area and would most certainly recommend to ond and all.

I visited here last week with my family for some lunch, I had the hunters chicken and my children had a burger and chips each everything was really lovely and the food came out quickly! Ashley was serving us she was friendly, welcoming and a really helpful lady. Definitely will be returning. 10/10

We visited on Sunday without booking, the owner advised that there would be a 45 minute wait for food which wasn’t a problem for us.Other places we have visited seem to serve food on a hot plate, but when you eat the food it’s cold, well that wasn’t the case here, not only was the plate hot so was the food and it tasted freshly made.The new owner and staff are very friendly and we would recommend this place. Looking forward to coming back.

We got greeted by a lovely lady, however a women (who clearly works there but on a day off) came over and started being rude to the women saying she wanted our table etc. We then got seated and this women and her family then moved next to us - she was extremely loud, and kept speaking rude to the staff who she obviously knows and usually works with, also letting there huge dog come and stand at our table watching us eat our food. The man with these people then started chucking treats under our table so the dog would come under our table (to which we laughed at) but really it’s not what you want when paying for a meal! We then went to go to the toilet and this women then shouted at us telling us 1 person can go in (to which she wasn’t even in work clothes so didn’t need to be as abrupt). I can’t lie, this ruined the whole meal/evening and we won’t be returning - such a shame how someone can act like that in there own work place. Aside from that, the rest of the staff were absolutely lovely and if anything we felt sorry for them!

Popped in the other Friday with friends after work. Nice atmosphere and very friendly and professional bar staff. Ash and vicky made us feel very welcome and treated us like locals. Will definitely be back.

Came on Wednesday evening was suppose to be 8 of us but changed to nine not a problem , we ordered on the app but was served by a bubbly girl called Ashley , some things couldn’t change on the app but she was happy enough to help even tho running around as the place was busy ! Found this Pub on way back from Devon , we did book on route but there was plenty of tables inside and out. Dog friendly ordered via the App food was very good, a welcome by all staff serving , have rebooked when we travel that way later in the year

We arrived at 3:15pm on a Monday. Only a couple of tables were occupied outside and we were pleased to have plenty of choice for where to sit. However! If you haven’t booked, you are not welcome. We were basically told we had to book or leave. We only wanted a quick drink! Imagine if we had brought a bigger party and attempted to order food! So I went onto the pub’s website to book on my phone there and then. The only available time (to occupy any of the empty tables) was 4:30pm. I suggested to another member of staff that maybe we could book that but access one of the empty tables there and then (playing the weird “walk-ins aren’t welcome”’game). Nope! We would have to go away and come back at 4:30pm. So all those empty tables inside and out serve what purpose? Wasn’t there a lockdown that resulted in huge losses to the hospitality industry? Wouldn’t customers be a positive thing? Perhaps I am mistaken. Sadly we won’t be back!

Since opening we have come back to support this lovely pub each day for food as great prices and good quality, few pubs have put prices up recently but not here, COVID correct environment and everything as it should be and the staff friendly and helpful and as usual Ashley is great front of house and always makes you welcome, highly recommended olde worlde pub

In these times of CoViD it's nice to feel normal, and the Coach and Horses ticks that box. First visit but not the last. Great staff, food and drink. Really dog friendly. On site parking. I only wish I'd taken a picture of my lovely vegan pie before I scoffed it.

After my family and I had been out on a wet and windy day,finding the Coach and Horses for a meal was such a welcome find. The lady who showed us to our table and served us was really friendly and made us feel welcome straight away.My family all enjoyed our meals and had dessert too,all was delicious. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxing as well. It was a great way to finish our day and we will definitely be remembering it for another visit when we are that way again.Thank you to all the staff.

This is probably the nearest pub to where we live and we’re now regulars. Extremely easy to order on the app or table service if you prefer. Quick service. Lovely staff. Amazing food (especially the kg of chicken wings!!!) with a huge menu. It’s cozy and it’s covid safe in these crazy times. Definitely worth a visit!!! I have been to this pub many times, each occasion the staff have been so lovely and welcoming. The food and drink selection is great and tastes very good too!Post lockdown I have been back twice and I'm very impressed with the safety. 1 way systems and safety rules (masks, visors etc) are just brilliant and makes me feel very relaxed.NHS discount was very much appreciated also!

We booked a table for 4 here tonight for a small family meal out.Upon entering we were given a very thorough briefing on the covid protocols in place by the member of staff who attended to us all night.Our waitress, Vanessa, was extremely friendly and attentive, the food was first class and the pub itself was very warm and welcoming.I could not fault the pub, the food, and certainly not our waitress, all were spot on.First rate job, would recommend to anyone.

Visited with some freinds on a Friday Evening and the staff were just brilliant. The very happy service from Melissa was just perfect. Food was very good too and at a sensible price. I must say the staff there under Liam are just brilliant and you feel very covid safe too. Loraine also needs a mention for her friendliness and excellent freindly service as well.

I was so impressed. We’re not from the area and struggled to find somewhere that could accommodate 6 people on short notice. They were very friendly and helpful on the phone and went above and beyond the legal requirements to make the visit COVID secure. There was regular cleaning taking place and very efficient protocols in use to reduce the spread. The staff were so friendly and engaging with the children. The food was excellent quality for a very reasonable price. We were very satisfied with our visit and will definitely return next time we visit Grandma. It was her first meal out in 7 months, so she was a little nervous, but we were immediately put at ease by the staff and the systems in place. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, good job!

Partner and I decided to try somewhere new & were recommended this place. Was a lovely pub full of character, COVID measures were spot on which made me feel very comfortable Food was full of flavour and reasonable for price, the sharing starter was amazing, mains were lovely! only downside is my partners steak was overcooked one side and had only been flipped over quickly so was underdone on the other side but only as he is a chef we picked up more. However saying so I had the pie which was incredible and could’ve had about 5 more lots of the gravy it went down a treat and staff were more than happy to pack up what I couldn’t finish! and the lovely young lady named Grace that served us was ever so welcoming and checked on us regularly that everything okay, all in all will definitely return again such lovely spot to eat out and always wanting to try more on their menu !

Just had a relaxing meal at Coach & Horses Wimborne.A very friendly welcome by the staff and specifically by the host Melissa, she explained all about the COVID procedures in place and made you feel welcome the moment you walked in. COVID procedures they had in place included: all staff were wearing face coverings, wiping down tables as customers left, one-way system and a new sign on the toilet doors as they are only one person in at a time.Drinks were served promptly by a member of staff, I think called Alexa, a very cheerful young lady and served with a smile.Whilst waiting for our food we saw both Melissa and Alexa following the one way system many many times like busy ants which was pleasing to see with tray fulls of drinks and seating people down.Food arrived promptly, very hot and plentiful.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were happy to stop and have a chat. Both Melissa and Alexa came round to check if food was ok and if we were enjoying our visit.A truly wonderful experience with good food and drink and would recommend to all to try this pub.

The Coach and Horses is an Olde Worlde Thatched Pub just on the outskirts of Wimborne. (5 minute walk from the centre) There is ample free parking and a beer garden. Equally, a 5 minute walk in the opposite direction takes you to the old bridge crossing the River Stour with views along the river. - This has always been a lovely traditional pub with a great atmosphere. The Management and all staff are extremely friendly (including to Dogs) and attentive and are dealing with Covid 19 very professionally. The Menu is extremely varied. The Sunday Lunch options are delicious. - Portions are very generous.

We went last Wednesday and it was definitely the nicest meal we have both ever had in a pub. So we decided to take my nan and grandad there today on bank holiday. My grandad is the pickiest person in the world and never likes anywhere and he said its the nicest meal hes had for 3 years! The staff are so helpful and nice and always check everything is okay and do their best to make sure your time there is amazing.I cannot say anything bad about the food or the staff or the pub. Alexa and Hannah was our servers and they were both amazing! Good job guys.

Visited this place yesterday for a family meal for the first time since lockdown. We had booked a table for 6pm. Very professional welcome...we were given the run-down on the procedures in place due to covid-19 and shown to our table. All very well laid out with a one-way system in place and clear floor markers. We placed our order and were told that our wait for food was likely to be 45-60 minutes due to a party of 16(!) having just placed their food order. The staff were very apologetic but said that they would make sure that our daughter (5 years of age) would be the first to get her meal. Approximately 40 minutes later, our daughter's food arrived and ours followed 10 minutes after that. I have to say that all of the staff were very attentive and kept apologising for our wait. The food arrived piping hot and we all enjoyed our meals - burger meal, chickpea and butternut squash curry, gammon, egg and chips and kids chicken nugget meal. We have eaten in a couple of other places during the 50% off Monday to Wednesday Eat Out to Help Out Scheme during August and always been disappointed with service or meal availability (or both), but despite having to wait a while for our food, we could not fault either the food or the service throughout. Well done Coach and Horses for showing how it should be done!!! In particular, our servers Nicole, Alexa and Hannah. Many others could learn an awful lot from you! We shall be returning in the not too distant future. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We went on an eat out to help out Monday. We had booked and on arrival were not told of any wait on food. We ordered on the app at 7.11 pm and didn’t receive any food till 8.53 pm at no time did any staff come and apologise or explain the wait. We had to ask. Then the wrong meal was bought to our table and we had to wait even longer while the right one was cooked! Had to ask for our side too. We enjoyed the food but def won’t be returning.

On arrival we were told to order via an app, we were warned our food order could take up to an hour. Got drinks ok and waiting staff great, social distancing ok. After an hour one Starter came out and the wraps for chicken fajitas, then nothing ! So another half hour later we asked how much longer and were told our food was about to be cooked so asked for a refund as everyone fed up of just sitting there waiting, we were told we couldn’t get a refund as we had ordered on the app and had had a starter, sooo another half hour and we got our food. Chicken fajitas, fish n chips, chicken nuggets, hunters chicken, Berger and pie n mash, all very small portions except for the pie. My grandson of 14 asked to order a takeaway when we got home, he had hunters chicken. So I would give this place a miss if you are looking to treat yourself to a nice pub meal. No apology from the manager who sent a young member of staff back out to us after we asked to speak to him about refund.

Cycled from Poole to this pub and we were both very impressed with the sensible measures they have introduced to try to create a covid safe environment. We still received the usual warm welcome and enjoyed good food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Excellent value for money and run by lovely people.

We hadn't visited this pub for some time, mainly because it became over-busy. However we couldn't fault our mid-week evening visit, which was delightful. The pub was welcomingly warm as we entered and the main waitress, although obviously very busy, was extremely helpful and friendly. There is obviously a very good chef, since the steak I chose was perfectly cooked. I asked for rare to medium and it certainly was. It had obviously rested and was tender, juicy and very tasty. All the elements in both dishes we chose were well presented, tasy and very good value for money. We chose the two cousres at £13.75 with a £2 supplement for the steak, which was well worth the extra. All in all a fabulous winter warmer on a cold, February night! We shall be back.

Nice thatched Greene King pub with serveral areas, a dining room and a childrens room, all served by one large bar. Our first visit but unfortunately the kitchen was closed undergoing plumbing repairs. Barstaff were welcoming.

A good Saturday night out with family and friends, staff very friendly and food was good. Nice atmosphere with good prices food and beer. Rosie looked after us and she was amazing. Thank you 👍

Visited the pub feb 22nd. The staff were so attentive and helpful especially Rosie. The food was prompt and plentiful. Will definitely go again soon.

It’s a Thursday afternoon... hour wait just for starters. You go to complain, can’t find staff anywhere, not very good at all! I would understand if it was busy but it really isn’t ... was not even advised on the long wait for food when ordering either
