Coach and Horses Pub in City of London, Westminster

Service was good and drinks fine but the food was not good. The focus seems to be on speed of service and keeping prices fair instead of quality. We had two very basic roast meals. Turkey dinner was almost barely warm including the gravy, no pig in blanket, carrots boiled not glazed. Roast beef with cold gravy again and the roast potatoes were dry and tasteless - reheated (at 1pm?) and not warm - certainly no duck fat involved. We pointed out the food being cold and just got a shrug. They did reheat the gravy. We ate it as no time to complain and start again elsewhere. It was edible - just a disappointment. Charge a little more if you need to - just provide value! Wine and beer were fine.

There are apparently THREE Coach and Horses in Soho. The one in question is Great Marlborough Street. Where do I begin ? I have had some truly awful bar meal experiences in my life. Yesterday I hit the jackpot. The ZENITH. "Three mini snacks for £15". How could they go wrong ? Well, cod goujons overfried and rock hard and bizarrely GREY were a starter. A "turkey sandwich" with dodgy looking turkey was a close second. But the "piece de resistance" had to be the "pigs in blankets". Five pink , non-cooked chipolatas (albeit with a token quarter inch brown longitudinal stripe) wrapped in undercooked bacon. (DO THEY KNOW WHAT THE LAVS ARE LIKE ON THE EUSTON TO MANCHESTER 6.53) ? We soldiered on with the grey rock hard goujons, and the dodgy turkey. But the raw chipolatas went back. They returned five minutes later with a SECOND parallel quarter inch longitudinal brown stripe. 80% still raw sausage. We avoided them. Thank heavens. The 6.53 to Manchester was standing room only. 5 raw chipolatas would have ensured a most memorable journey. PS For four of us, a "snip" at £135.20. AVOID THIS JOINT IF YOU WANT FOOD. Drinks were fine.

Raj Fish and chips excellent. Sat upstairs overlooking Christmas Decorations Great Marlborough Street.

Ricky was brilliant. Handled a very difficult situation very well and was a great host. Would strongly recommend visiting. Rocking Rudolph was a lovely beer too!

Natalia was very nice and we had an amazing night. Following a 6 hours delay with my plane what a relief to finally find some good people. Nothing to say expect, expetionnal ( and i am french;))!

This pub has a good location and an interesting interior. It was a pleasant enough visit but they could have done with more staff behind the bar!

I don’t usually waste my time on writing bad reviews but on this occasion I will. I was having a lovely evening on the 16/11/24 in this very sweet place until a staff member was extremely rude to me and left me feeling quite upset. I went to use the ladies bathroom and as another lady came out she informed me there was no toilet roll. I went back upstairs and asked the man behind the bar if he had any behind there and he was apologetic and told me to ask downstairs at the other bar which was fine. I then queued to ask at the downstairs bar, I said the same thing to another member of staff and he told me to wait whilst he looked for some which was also fine I was happy to wait. He came back a few minutes later which 2 rolls of toilet paper in his hands and then an older, blonde female staff member who seemed quite annoyed already was questioning the man who had grabbed the toilet roll and proceeded to snatch the toilet roll out of his hands and stormed off towards the toilets and didn’t really acknowledge that I was still waiting to use the toilet. I started making my way back to the toilet and she was stood in the hallway. I then said “it’s this one that has no toilet roll” thinking she may acknowledge that I was the one who was asking and the response I got was “well what does it look like I’m doing, there is obviously someone in there” she was quite aggressive and made me feel like I had just killed her cat. I was quite shocked and I generally hate confrontation and I replied “okay sorry but it’s not my fault that toilet paper has ran out” she then proceeded to shove one of the toilet rolls into me so I just grabbed some off the roll and passed it back to her. I then went in and used the toilet and came out then she laughed in the face as I walked back to my table. I fully understand that people can have bad days and working in hospo can be extremely busy and stressful. But I would never treat a customer like how I was treated and I was going to give feedback to her as I left however, i genuinely feel that she was the sort of person that would of been even more aggressive when faced with the view that her customer service was quite disgusting. Maybe if regular checks were put in place for the toilets this situation never would have happened in the first place. Sadly I will think twice before returning to a Greene King chain ever again. I hope the lady I’m referring to sees this and reflects. Perhaps a customer service course would be beneficial for her or at minimum learning basic manners.

We had a fantastic time at the coach & horses this evening, Sam greeted us with such a warm welcome, his hospitality was outstanding, for that reason alone we will surely return to the pub, the small plates were so tasty especially the Camembert dumplings and turkey croquettes, the mulled wine was also very tasty enhancing the festive feelings of the Christmas tree and overall ambiance of the pub, I’ve been working in soho for many years and as of today coach & horses is now my favourite pub. A massive thank you to Sam again for his impeccable service standards.

Honestly the best local in soho! Sam and Ricky both are the best hosts. The food is incredible I would recommend the chicken burger. Other than that the vibes are incredible and it’s a great place to come have a casual pint with your friends, work colleagues or girl friends. Don’t miss out!

We hosted our work annual karaoke event here on the top floor with about 50 people. The manager and staff were really accommodating to our requests, food was great and on time. Everybody had a great evening

I work close by and the Coach has never failed to be a bastion of quiet and calm as and when needed. Can’t rate the staff and the venue highly enough, particularly shout out to Sam. Might not be immediately obvious but there’s an upstairs, too! Check it out

Sam and Natalia were super friendly when I came here to visit with some friends. Nothing was any trouble and they helped us choose some lovely food from the menu which was delicious. Ricky the manager even popped over whilst we were eating to make sure everything was ok. I highly recommend the coach and horses, and its proximity to Oxford Circus makes it a perfect location

Beautiful surprise in the middle of Soho. Great beers from local and international breweries, bottled, on tap...beer hearts, what more could you want? Plus delicious fries and on top and above all great and friendly service from Natalia. We will definitely come here again next time we visit London.

Awful staff. Extremely rude, and when applying discount they charged me the full amount. My partner and I sat down for a few minutes to be able to charge my phone but me never of staff (a guy with long brown hair on a pony tail) came to us asking us if we were going to order any food because there were people waiting. We were just about to order and that completely put us off so we just got a drink and then the guy on the till didn’t even put our discount. The manager on duty apologised to us but we really didn’t feel welcome at all

Pleasant atmosphere. Delicious food (burger and beer menu) yes, the beer wasn't my thing, but I wasn't happy with that in London anyway. Very okay in terms of price. Oh yeah, and I'll only give 5 stars if I get powdered sugar blown up my ass. So don't be angry 😈.

Amazing experience at this cozy London pub! The warm, inviting atmosphere made it the perfect spot to unwind. Great selection of drinks, and friendly staff who all made us feel at home. The manager, Ricky, really interacted with everyone who entered which is lovely to see. Definitely a little gem of a pub with amazing staff, which goes a long way!

I visited the coach & horses a few months ago whilst in London with my mum and daughter and we promised Ricky (the manager) we would go back when next in London, we returned today and again we received such amazing hospitality from Ricky and Veronika, they really made us feel at home, the food was superb, atmosphere was great and the level of service was impeccable, I highly recommend this pub to anybody. We will certainly return when we’re in London for our next theatre trip.

On our second trip to London we revisited the coach & horses, my daughter and granddaughter were hungry and we knew exactly where to go, we were again greeted by Ricky (the manager) the reason for our return and a lovely young lady Veronica, hospitality is second to none, really made us feel welcome, at home and looked after, the cod goujon sandwich was perfect for the lunch deal, I tried the hazy days session ipa, highly recommend this pub for the level of service alone. Thank you for looking after us.

Have been visiting here every week since I've moved to London. If you're looking for a cozy environment with exceptional staff then this is one of the best pubs in London for that. I can name a few of their staff like Rajat who have always provided exceptional service everytime I've visited. Food and drinks are reasonably priced as well!
