Lunch was booked for 48 members of Newton W.I. who were on route to The Hall at Abbey Cwm Hir, We were all warmly met and made to feel very welcome by the staff. Christmas decorations and festive table settings, set the scene. It was a wet, miserable and squally day outside but we felt warm and very comfortable inside. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating , they simply could not do enough for us. We all had the carvery which was nicely served, we had a choice (or all 3 ) of pork, beef and turkey with all the trimmings. Every part of the generous meal was delicious and faultless. The majority of us all had the sweet too, choices included apple pie and custard, roulade and the most divine lemon cheesecake. This whole experience was expertly managed and was very reasonably priced for the high quality meal. We all thoroughly enjoyed every minute of being there before we had to leave for our destination.I would thoroughly recommend this establishment for wonderful food and such exemplary service from all the lovely staff. Personally I cannot wait to return.

As the meal was part of a society package I dont know the breakdaown of costs but I suspect that the ,eal was excellent value for money. I suspect that this place might be mobbed on Sundays especially this coming weekend - Lucky Mums

We recently had sunday dinner at the golf club. We were a family of 14. We had a choice of 3 meats (you could have all 3 if you wanted )a good selection of vegetables boiled /roasted potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Served with a fantastic gravy. All good size portions. The food was very good. We were asked if we wanted a sweet but unfortunately no one had room. The service from start to finish was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Went with friends after so many good recommedations very disappointed steak over cooked myself and my husband both ordered medium rare and they were poor cuts of meat and started wayfer thin then went to about 1cm thick. One of our gang had duck which looked more like chicken and was very dry, one had lamb which was cooked lovely but neither the duck or lamb dish were given an option of potatoes just bowls of chips were put on the table (frozen chips). We finished our meal and the table beside us were having their mains one of which was steak which looked much better cut than what we were served and proper HOMEMADE CHIPS unlike the frozen ones we were served. Same happened with our starters ordered the hot and spicy chicken wings as they had a southern fried chicken cover on the last time but not this time but again one of the gang on the table opposite did have hot and spicy chicken wings with the southern fried coating on. Surely all customers should be served the same. Very disappointing after all the top recommedations we had

Was asked to accompany a member to a Christmas lunch. There were about 38 people. One person serving!! My meal was cold before the rest of of the table was served. One person went home ill during the meal because although they had been warned he had a medical condition which precluded flour. He was not given the special gravy that was made for him. Coffee was served without spoons it took us 2 hours to get through the meal due to lack of staff. Never again!!

We stayed in the area for a week over New Year. We could not find anywhere that was open for New Year day's lunch and traditionally we always go out for this. A local recommended we try this and when we called they took our booking for 7 people. I think in fact it was only us who were eating that day, although some people were in for drinks so it appeared that to be helpful they opened the kitchen especially for us. Between us we had steaks, gammon and chicken. All freshly cooked and served nicely and piping hot. The bill was excellent value.I have to give this an excellent rating for the fact they accommodated us when we could find nowhere else and for the stunning service. The team had had a late night the evening before with a party on site but were amazing. Very helpful and friendly service. The chap we dealt with most was hilarious and the lunch was a holiday highlight.Thank you so much. We hope to return next year and will be calling again.

Pleasant enough bar & restaurant with friendly staff. As we were the only ones eating in the restaurant this lunchtime we had the chef to ourselves. The food was good and freshly cooked, tasty and nicely presented.

We have been visiting The Drover's for around 25 years. As a full Family initially, now just the two of us. Peter and his Team never disappoint. The welcome is always friendly and we do enjoy a modest pre Lunch drink in the cosy snug out the back. The views of the river are spectacular. It was a bit chilly to be sitting outside on the balcony but one brave chap did take his coffee out there! The food, well, you can't call it 'just Sunday Lunch! It's a foodie treat! Plenty of beautifully cooked food. Always hot and tasty. The quality is certainly there as well. Cannot fault anything and the Sweets are to die for! The atmosphere is invariably pleasant. A good mixture of Walkers, Holiday makers and Locals. Thanks so much for everything over the years Peter. We're already in the process of booking next year's trip to Wales, so keep an eye out for an email soon!

Our first time here this morning. From the minute we walked in we was welcomed and seated. All staff were welcoming. Myself and fiancé ordered a full English, food was lovely not one fault and clear plates. I had a cappuccino which was tasty and perfect. We were approached and asked if everything was okay during our meal. We paid with cash and left a tip as we were very pleased. We will definitely be attending again on our next stay.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.
