This is now the greenhouse and I’ve submitted this review there too. Terrible fish and chips - small, flat fish with horrible batter and hard chips. And it was expensive - so definitely not value for money. Service was also slow.

The food is delicious and I received excellent service. We ordered fish and chips, sandwiches, a slice of cake, a glass of wine and coffee. It was extremely good value. Very friendly and lovely people who run the place. A great location to take children. There is a maze, crazy golf, a very large blow-up slide, a bouncy castle etc. The scenery is breathtaking. Dogs are very welcome and everyone always fusses over my husky Kai. A wonderful place to sit in the sun and just chill.

We played crazy golf and we potted the hole at the end to spin the wheel for a prize. We all got 3rd prize which was for an ice cream. The man In the hut at the crazy golf was lovely and give us our prize. We went to the café to get our ice cream and gave to a woman who went into the back. She must have talked about us since another woman came out and said it was very unlikely and how she doesn't believe us. So I replied nicely by saying,"go and ask the man at golf so that it proves that we have won." She then replied with "I don't believe him either." Which isn't the correct way in talking about another member of staff. At the end of all this we were denied the 4 free ice creams so won't be coming back! Appalling!!

Absolutely disgusting service! 9 of us played crazy golf (4 Kids) The Kids won 4 hole in ones at the end of the game. They won a free Ice Cream. They went inside to receive their 4 free ice Creams... the Lady refused to believe they won, so she went to ask the lad at the golf area.. who confirmed they had got a hole in one... then another member of staff came out to check they'd won! This was for 4 FREE ICE CREAMS not a Caribbean cruise as a prize! The staff refused point blank to give them their ice Creams! Kids were in tears! DO NOT GO HERE!! SHOCKING!!

The food was amazing, the staff were so lovely congratulating us and making sure we all had everything we needed. In several years on trip advisor, I have only given one poor review. This place has pushed my tolerance though. If you don't agree with zero hours contacts, this may not be the place for you. If you are happy to eat in places staffed by 16 year olds on minimum wage Ron and Carol will welcome your custom. Though bear in mind the owners finish staff who call in sick with gastric issues. Think how that may affect your meal.

We arrived at about 10.30am for cooked breakfast for myself and Eggs Benedict for mam. The food only took 10 minutes to arrive at the table and was very good (there was a larger breakfast on offer but I opted for the medium one where you get one of everything). There were condiments on offer and the usual accessories to take to the table with the tray. The toast that came with it arrived first as did the tea - just as well we asked for hot water as the tea was just warm. The service was good - we were asked if we would like anything else. As a venue it is a nice place to eat, with a wide variety of meals, though they stop serving breakfast food at 11.30am. There are toilets next door as well as baby changing facilities, plus newspapers and magazines to browse, disabled access, free wi-fi and the place is also dog friendly (this may be intimidating if a dog is watching you eat). The cafe is also next door to the bowling greens, maze, crazy golf and paddling pool. We have used this cafe before just for a cuppa but the meals were very good and we will be back.

This again appeared hard and dry. My partners scone had been warmed but was still dry.I would not recommend getting a scone there!!!

We've been visiting Tynemouth forever, that's both as a couple and now with our little dog. Now, don't get me wrong Tynemouth is officially dog friendly but the 'village' eateries are busy and usually pavement based making sometimes for a stressful drink and bite to eat so last Saturday we walked the extra 5 minutes to the Greenhouse at Tynemouth park and I'm pleased we did. This is a cracking little eaterie with a bar selling a good selection of wines and draught beers. Best bits (other than welcoming your pet inside) was that food was plentiful and fresh, all cooked to order here, that was obvious. Great coffee and the staff were lovely. Several tables outside overlooking the small lake and sea view to boot. To be honest it's perfect to eat, drink and relax then walk into the village (or vice versa), What's not to like?

Same cafe-type menu, burgers & chips etc. Nice Lavazza coffee, but cup was slightly dirty from dishwasher. Strong fried food smell inside, so chose to sit at a outdoor table. Toilet have not been included in the refurbishment; they need to be and there was no hot water to wash hands!

We visited the newly refurbished Clock Tower/Greenhouse cafe on consecutive weekends. The decor inside is nicer than previously but we found this to be expensive for what it was. The real issue we had was that after spending £30 on breakfast, we were asked for an additional £1.25 for sauce to go with it.I didn't agree with the principle of this given how expensive the food was. We spoke to the manager and she was quite frankly ignorant, showing no understanding with a very poor attitude. Plenty of better places to visit in the area where the staff value their customers.

We (myself, husband and 2 daughters) found this place accidentally whilst visiting the Blue Reef Aquarium (and we weren't going to pay the prices in their cafe!!) and we are so pleased we did find it. You can sit inside or outside, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The menu offers a great selection and choice of both hot and cold foods, and there was plenty to choose from even for a fussy eater like me!! The husband and daughters opted for the standard burger (£5.25) which came with salad and chips, and I opted for the liver and bacon with mash and vegetables (£5.95). We paid and had a seat at the table where we only waited around 5-10 minutes for our food to be served, everything came out together which is a bonus - the burgers went down a treat with the husband and girls, they were very tasty and the salad was fresh, the tasty chips were in a metal bucket and there was also a tub of coleslaw which was definitely hand made! My liver and bacon dinner was superb, the mash was creamy, the vegetables (peas and turnip - I opted for no carrots) were very tasty and the portion sizes were very large! The only negative is having to pay 20p per sachet of sauce instead of having a bottle on the table, but all in all the four of us thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend and visit again!

Visited yesterday afternoon with my daughter. Nice little cafe, pleasant service, lovely outdoor area. After being served a vegetarian sausage bun (nice to see a veggie option) and two teas, we asked for the tomato sauce. We were told it would be 20 pence! The tomato sauce arrived...a tiny 'pod' containing a tea-spoon of contents. A lot of the items on the menu require condiments, i.e. chips, bacon sarnies etc, so can you imagine how much extra would be added to the bill for a family outing! It should be stated on the menu board that there are charges for these items. Would have given this a higher rating had there not been charges of this nature. We usually frequent the Surf Cafe across the road, where they don't charge for condiments, so in future we will continue to go there.

We visited as a family for Sunday lunch. We were lucky in that it wasn't too busy so got seated no problem and served straight away. There was a choice of 2 meats for the Sunday lunch with 2 sizes available. We all opted for Beef, with 2 of us choosing the larger size plate. The food was served quickly and was of a very high quality. The portion sizes of both were excellent, the vegetables were fresh rather than frozen and were full of flavour instead of being bland. There was plenty Beef on the plates and the gravy was tasty. We were all full after our mains so couldn't even attempt a dessert even though there was some of our favourites on the menu. Overall we enjoyed our visit and will be back. The only reason we can't give 5 stars was that one of us had cold mashed potato but think this was just as it was plated up first and the extra gravy we received helped to solve the problem. If you are in the area, and are hungry then you can't go wrong based on our experience today.

My wife and I had been here quite a while ago and the food was ok. I think that since our last visit the cafe may have changed hands. On our last visit to Tynemouth we said we would eat at The Clock Tower Café.We ordered quiche of the day at £5.95 and it came with salad and chips. We had this changed to mashed potato for my wife and both with vegetables instead of salad. Ok so far.As the meals were about to be served I asked for some gravy which they were happy to provide. They didn’t ask whether I wanted one lump or two. As can be seen from my photo I definately got one (on the carrot) with other bits lurking about in the veg. My wife had seen the server lift out a whisk which was full of large gelatinous lumps. The chips and mash were good; the peas were wrinkley and dried out; carrots were just passable. Worst of all the Stilton and Broccoli quiche, although tasty, was tepid at the pointy end and cold in the middle with some heat at the pastry end. We should heve sent them back but were hungry and had already waited awhile for the food to arrive.I can only assume this was defrosted in a microwave oven.Surely it wouldn’t break the bank to supply the kitchen staff with a temperature probe especially when dealing with an egg based product. If you go to this place, check out the hot food on diplay and go early. We were perhaps a little late at about 2.30 and there was what appeared to be mince and dumplings bubbling away and drying out on the hotplate. When we saw this and the drying veg. we should have left.We won’t think be returning any time soon, if ever.We went for a walk and saw that The Gibraltar Rock at the end of Front Street was doing 2 mains for £10.00!

Rubbish Service. Me and a Friend went there today near-ish closing time (about 45 minutes from closing time) All the chairs and tables were against the side so we had to pull some out ourselves. Then when it was apparent that no one was coming to serve us we went up to the counter. Woman there said "What would you like" but when we asked for our things 'apparently' there was nothing left apart from chips (asked for an all-day-English breakfast) and yet when our (cold) meals came HALF AN HOUR LATER! The chips were obviously microwaved and could've taken 3 minutes at most to make. Although they were boiling hot at first after a minute they were as if they'd came out a freezer. The chips were not good quality as they were much too fluffy and skins of chips were horribly crispy. Although none of us asked for it we were given AND CHARGED for sausages on one of our plates, and wouldn't accept them back when I tried to refund them. Sausages skins weren't actually attached to the sausages and when I tried to cut them up they literally fell apart! Also NONE of the staff were wearing a hairnet/having their hair tied back and my friend found SEVERAL hairs in his meal. One of the staff had their baby in the kitchen and running around the Caf??. He was standing up on the place where food was prepared/given to the customers. The baby's mother then wiped the sick and food around the baby's mouth, then gave us our ketch up packets which we had to ask for ourselves. They then started to close all the shutters so that it felt like we were prisoners and they mopped the floor all around us and without a wet floor sign. When we left we thought it was dry, until my friend slipped but luckily there was a table for him to grab onto. The hot chocolate I got was in a portable cardboard holder which didn't even have a plastic cover on the top and I spilt some on my hand which led to a nasty scolding because the baby ran into us. There wasn't any napkins and when we asked we were told we shouldn't need them. As soon as our chips were given (after they stole a chip before they gave them to us) all staff came to the front and they were on their phones while staring at us making us feel unwelcome. While we were on the phone they turned of the music and stopped talking between themselves to obviously try and listen in on our conversation. They evidently forgot to turn the music back on however. And when I said talking between themselves I should've said shouting because that's how loud they were. The seats were wet as well, the cutlery we got was dirty, the chips were just piled on the plate and kept falling off onto the dirty table which for some reason didn't have a tablecloth. When we left we didn't get a goodbye, just a look of something along the lines of 'Yes They're Gone!'. The Fanta my friend got was past it's use by date. The baby was given a broom which was used to repeatedly hit us and try to sweep under our feet. There was a lingering smell of bleach and the manners there was shocking manners on the whole of the staff there. Once we got home we both didn't feel well and we have been sick at least once, although I can admit I seem to be feeling better by now (touch wood!) Did we enjoy it? No chance. I'd like a full investigation on the matter.

You are locked in after 21.30 and have a half mile walk to get back to thd high street because they can't control there own premises, not a good way to treat there customers.

Good cafe, and public conveniences, in a beautiful local park.
