The visit to the Clock Cafe and Bistro was truly the highlight of our visit to Redcar. We had asked a couple just leaving the cafe what the food was like and they could not praise the cafe enough and once we had had our meal neither could we! The staff were all warm and friendly, even helping other guests in and out of the cafe. I had the quiche, chips, coleslaw and salad and hubby had the liver with chips and peas. My quiche was huge, moist and so cheesy. Hubby loves liver and was not disappointed. The portions were really generous too. We had extra drinks after the meal and watched as regular customers were chatted to by the staff and new customers warmly welcomed. The cafe was immaculately clean as were the toilets. Credit to the whole team who run the cafe so well and to the owners who obviously take care of their staff, their food and their customers. Thank you so much it was a meal we will never forget.

I have been a few times a while ago but the first time in a long time. I had half an hour to kill so called in originally just for a coffee but when I saw the food being served gave in and had a late breakfast. Started with a large Mocha which was served good and hot and ended up having a large sausage, bacon and egg butty. Good quality sausages and bacon and free range egg. It was very busy at 10 am with all but two tables taken. The mince and dimples looked lovely and great portions. Will definitely be trying it for their excellent looking Sunday lunches. The staff were helpful and friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere

I have been here for every meal day to night and the inbetween hot drink / cold drinks. Service is amazing and person centered. I have had my dog here treated like royalty. Daughter of 22 months asked how she would like her drink in her bottle or cup. Which plate she would like. Family wholesome environment. The queues only make me feel how loved and popular this place is.

I can't fully describe how good this place is. It is such good value for money and the food is so tasty. I recommend the Sunday dinner. The one thing I want to highlight is how hard the owner works and cares about every single person that goes there if you want to see the definition of community action go there and watch her!

Just had to tell you about this gem of a cafe. My family and I have frequented this superb cafe many times whilst on holiday at Marske by the Sea. Oh my goodness where do I start? Everything that is on their extensive menu us nothing but sheer perfection. Freshly cooked and lovingly presented. Lovely serving and waiting staff. Will chat to you and ask if everything is OK with your order. I cannot rate this cafe high enough as it surpasses a 10. The chips are not frozen, they serve roasts and Sunday roasts and children's menus. You won't be disappointed with the food as everything is scrumptious. It has a great reputation and have full tables. Give it a try the next time your in the vicinity. I know a great cafe when I've eaten in it. All had full and happy bellies on leaving.

Because it is so busy at the cafe. Seating can be a problem. Food is average some things are good but overall it is average. Finding a place to sit can be hard and when you have a family member who needs to sit down asap it is a slight worry.

All precious metals in jewellers are hallmarked with letters and numbers to prove their purity, quality and authentic constitution .Well if there were such a process for cafes then this little gem would bear the hallmark of quintessential British cafe . The elements are all there . Quirky decor , friendly staff , lots of truly homemade food and cakes , a menu packed with classics ( including liver and onions - remember them ?) as well as the staples of toasties and hotdogs . Sarah and her husband have worked hard to please their customers and the obvious friendship with many regular customer pays tribute to their success . A rarity at this level is the absence of ‘catering chips ‘ a personal hatred of mine , with their homemade creamy and crispy offerings being the perfect compliment to many of their snacks . Value is stunning . A wholesome homemade lunch with tea for well under £5.00 . Well worth a visit !

This is only the second time here and what a little gem of a place. The hot chocolate and caramel mocha were excellent and the Manchester tart great. The breakfasts were well cooked and plentiful and the mince and dumplings excellent. They even do South African foods such Rooibus tea and sometimes Koeksister which pleases my South African fiancée. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Well worth another visit

Visited here a few times now. I find the staff very helpful and friendly - also catering to changes made on the menu if you need (breakfast item swaps etc) which is Brill. The food is all home cooked, including the chips which is rare these days and a bonus as they're delicious! The portions are beyond generous and can be taken out too if you wanted a takeaway.Breakfast menu served all day which is nice when you're fancying a fry up!The prices are extremely decent especially given the food quality. I can't fault this cafe and I always enjoy my visits. Its lovely to see the staff care about their regulars, who know their names and make time to say goodbye when leaving.

Its about a year since i was last here.so thought id give it a go for a change. I was in about 9am and decided on cheese on toast ( not on the menu but they do it for you) and a mug of tea.You pay when you order, the tea was £1.30 and the cheese on toast was £2.60. for this you get 2 rounds of cheese on toast, which had quite a bit of cheese on it,so quite good value.Table service was quite quick and very pleasant. The tea came first, you put your own milk in which is generally a good thing, and there was plenty of it.Would certainly recommend this place

The staff member wrote down my order and then messed it up not once but twice. I was waiting for longer than what is expected at a cafe. The food was adequate at best but this review is solely for the lack of service i have received. I would rather spend my money on microwaved food from subway than spend it here. 75p extra for each item is disgrace with this level of service when i can go and buy a pack of 40 Richmond sausages for £2.00

We arrived today at about 1pm with our two dogs. We were greeted and pointed to the dog area. The dog friendly area is very small which wasn’t a problem as there was a table free. We were ordered at the bar and then the knocking and banging from building work started and was on and off during our time there. It would have been nice if someone had informed us that this was going on before we ordered and got settled for what was to be a leisurely lunch. The meals came after a reasonable wait, husbands steak pie huge and tasty, however I ordered the fishcake. It was on a bed of wilted rocket that was supposed to be the seasonal salad, the fishcake had all broken up it had been fried so much and the poached egg was virtually hard. I asked the waitress if that was it and she said she had checked with the chef and it was, but she didn’t want to serve it. I obviously sent it back and made a different order which was pleasant but we both ended up eating lunch at different times. No one came over to check on the second meal or to apologise. The pub was very quiet and there were numerous staff dotting about. Very poor customer service. Surely it would have been better to gain a happy customer on site rather than a poor review on Facebook. We left very disappointed. The only really exceptional thing was the dogs 4oz rump steak.

This is an old established pub serving food. Busy on a Sunday and needed to book a table. Food was average, although plenty of it, although extra gravy was (I think) £1.50 for a small jug. Slightly let down by poor staff, with the exception of the lady with the plaster cast on her wrist. Generally too young and inexperienced. One didn't know the difference between a lager and an ale. And another was surly when asked why she had topped up a G & T full to the top of the glass with tonic, without first asking how much we required
