Climpson And Sons in Hackney

Have been going there for years, but staff were rude and unhelpful. I went in and asked for a selection pack of 4 different blends for a cafetiere. I realised that they had sold me the more expensive option and hadn't ground it. I live quite far away and took it back the next day. The staff were equally rude when I asked again to grind the coffee. No apology or anything about the fact that I had to return. Actually, they seemed very pretentious and annoyed that they had to do it. Shame as I used to love this place

After multiples visits, I can say with confidence the coffee simply isn't very good - especially if you're looking for espresso drinks. I'd opt for elsewhere given the price and attitude.

Usual go-to and a pleasure to frequent however was served up some unnecessary sass from the guy calling orders out yesterday and will be headed elsewhere

Only had a sandwich. £7.50 for a stale focaccia sandwich (cheese&ham). The price tags were also very confusing (on the window). Overpriced for what it was 😕

Really excellent coffee served by at a great little bakery spot. Takeaway service is quick and great everytime. The 8.4 flat white was smooth and flavoursome.

Climpson and Sons is a small coffee shop with selling some high quality coffee and pastries. I had their filter brew batch of the day, which was from Colombia and had a nutty flavor. Note there are no chair to sit on, it’s more of a grab and go place. Staff was also friendly.

Order 300 filters, they send me 50. I send them irrefutable photo evidence and you would think they would apologise and immediately send out the missing filters? That isn't what happened! After asking stupid questions answered by my email and the photos, PARTIAL refund... what a bunch of jokers.

These guys sell my favourite coffee in London (The Baron). Obsessed is an understatement.

I was not allowed to use my own cup for take away. That happened to me first time in London for more than 5 years of using my cup. Shame

This coffee shop only has two types of milk, cows and oat. Not very inclusive of other peoples dietary requirements. A lot of people are Gluten Free and can’t drink Oats milk, and a lot of people can’t drink cows milk. Not very inclusive. I don’t really understand how hard it is to get another alternative milk option. Not that big a deal and would help you to sell even more coffees, it’s a win win. I don’t understand these coffee shops with two milk options a huge portion of the UK population can’t consume. 🤷🏼

One of the best coffee shops in London. Highly informed staff, great brewing, good atmosphere. Decent savory options (I ordered a toastie and it was great).

Had a takeaway coffee (there is no sit down space inside) as well as buying some of their market blend beans which they ground up for me. Coffee tasted great both shop bought and brewed at home.

I have been three times for different pastries. Morning bun: 3.5/5 good pastry but not a lot beyond pasty and a lot of sugar. Reasonable price. Pain Au Chocolat: 4/5 amazing pastry but a bit light on the chocolate. Good price. Custard donut: 2/5 not very much filling and pastry wasn’t very good. Lacked flavour. Overpriced. Service is very good.

What a fantastic Barista training session, Roz is very passionate and knowledgeable about her work, infectious enthusiasm that made us want to learn more. Highly recommended and cannot wait for our next barista training day.

Wasn't planning to go here, but their goat cheese & prosciutto foccacia caught my eye and oh boy, I love how fresh the ingredients were and it tasted better toasted on a cold, rainy morning. It has caramelised onion, so it gives a nice balance to the savory cheese & prosciutto. May swing by for coffee next time!

Climpson & Sons is an excellent independent specialty coffee shop and roaster along Broadway market. It’s my go to cafe when i’m around the area. You should definitely try it!

Edit: the past two times I’ve been service has been pretty bad, but even worse coffee has not been good. I think my oat latte was topped up with old milk…… I finally got coffee here and I understand why there’s frequently a wait! The coffee was sweet (not acidic) and my oat milk perfectly steamed! Staff was professional, quick, and efficient.

Not accessible- there's a big step, but they have moved the counter to the doorway and brought the contact less card machine over to me. Coffee 5 stars, staff niceness 5 stars, minus one star for the big step. Please note if you have vison or balance issues, the door step is very wonky on the right & a bit of a hazard.

Nice staff, but they gave my order to someone else and the cashier told me off for not being able to work out what they'd done sooner. They also forgot everything about my order, and almost made me pay again. Weird, confrontational interaction when I was being perfectly polite, I guess to defer the blame onto me to avoid looking bad. Quality was in line with anything you've ever gotten anywhere, except the cups are half the size they're supposed to be.

Oat flat white in London fields park 🍁✌️

Today at Broadway office we excitedly took our 'Keep Cups' as it was only takeaway. We were robustly told that because of Covid they were not taking them. To almost quote one employee "look no arguing - this is company policy ...". Note no gloves were being worn Based on this quite rude outburst we went down the road where their was no Covid, Keep Cups welcome & far friendlier employees. On website cannot state trace any Covid type policy. Lastly the company think that just because paper cups are sustainable - they are morally covered. Such cups still have to be transported and many clients will not dispose of in a 'Green' method.

Probably the best Coffee in London, frankly, and definitely worth the early morning walk from Clapton. Customer service always top notch, too!

Beautiful spot with a happy, amicable team. I am a scaffolder who gets scolding looks. Working in different environments is hard to adjust to. But this coffee shop has not only the best coffee in London / The World, they gaily enjoy anyone they serve. Thumbs up from me.

Advertised 2:30 for a black Americano at Smithfield's market. Was charged 2:60. Was told when queried it was because I wanted decaf. Coffee wasn't that good either.

Went to the one at Spitalfields market today. Really disappointed since they refused to take my own cup “because of COVID”. What a shame. Great coffee, but I can’t go there anymore.

The best coffee I've had delivered, I've tried multiple others on the search for my every day brew and discovered C&S's. My search is over! Wide variety, reasonable prices (you get what you pay for after all) and speedy deliveries.

2 stars cos I usually get my coffee from here and it's tasty but needed some tap water today in 30 degree heat on my bike.. dude was not super kind about it .. sent me to the fountain in the park even though the jug of TAPPED water was right next to him .. lovely place tho… 😬 kind people. Got some in the end. Oh and plus, around the corner at their bakery, they often get my order wrong :\

Possibly one of the best coffees I've ever had. Honest to god, this place really know how to make truly amazing coffee. I had an iced latte and I don't think I've ever had one this good. I can't wait to go back and try more from this place. This place is within my top 3 coffee shops in London now!

Possibly the best coffee in London! We love coming here & service is always fast & friendly. We love to morning buns, but recently they haven't been quite as brilliant as they used to be :(

One of the best coffee spots in East London and lovely staff ☕️ Only problem is that they don't collect coffee cups for commercial composting / recycling considering they probably sell 400/500 cups a day ♻️Should be an easy thing to implement and lead on as such a well known business in the area.

For the last few times passing through Broadway market, I see a long queue, guess everyone wanted a good coffee. Came here today and ordered a flat white. The coffee was good enough. I would love to come back here in the future when the lockdown is over.

Consistently great coffee. Will charge you 30p extra for oat milk even though 80% of people ordering milk drinks ask for oak milk.

Coffee is burnt (like everywhere on broadway market and in the U.K.). But the staff are lovely! A stark contrast to Pavilion coffee shop’s arrogant staff down the road. Actually Hermanos - the pink Colombian coffee shop is the best one in Broadway market!

Really good coffee! Customer services varies quite a bit from one day to the next but overall okay and reasonably quick given that there is often a line

The coffee is amazing no doubt. I could give this place 5 starts but the customer service is very poor. The barrista completely forgot my order and was completely indifferent about it. They were enjoying their small chat more than making coffee. Is a shame.

They do their own roasting and bean sourcing, so quality and freshness of the beans is always top notch.

The comfortable, relaxed atmosphere of the cafe is perfect for slowly sipping on their excellent coffees. The food too is equally as good, simple yet wholesome.

THE spot for a coffee on Broadway Market! Friendly staff, attention to detail, the finest coffee beans, and a clientele of East London cool kids makes this my favourite spot for a coffee. Coffee is sourced from all over and Climpsons roasts their beans at their roastery in nearby Climpsons Arch. On the sunny side of the street in the morning ... so good!
