Clifford's Coffee Shop in Southend-on-Sea

Went to Clifford's for the first time today for breakfast. Lovely place and staff were really friendly and accommodating. Vicky in particular was great and couldn't do enough for us! She really went above and beyond so thank you Vicky. The food was lovely, good portions and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!

Came in here for breakfast - staff were polite and very nice! Food didn’t take long, and was very nice and was very filling. Prices were very reasonable aswell!! Definitely will be coming back :)

Saturday morning treat, bacon & egg sandwich and a black coffee. First time I’ve stopped here - nice little cafe friendly polite staff. Freshly cooked tasty food, proper sized cups too.

Another case of deliveroo and other delivery food companies taking priority over walk in customers.

Had tea and toast here, and the toast was perfect, nice thickness and toasted to a nice brown, with jam on the side, tea was in a good size mug. The staff were jolly and great to chat with, if you are on your own, and fancy a chat. Only four because parking is limited.

Chairs and tables were dirty. Prices have increased quite a lot for same food and service. Kitchen staff loud and rude.

I have eaten in this lovely little cafe on several occasions. The staff were very friendly and accomdating I couldn't have asked for more. The food was very fresh, lovely and hot, what more could anybody ask for. I would definatel recommend this lovely little cafe.

I wish u could give less. This was apparently american pancakes with bacon and scrambled eggs. The pancakes were hard and stale, eggs 100% cooked in a microwave. Orange juice was warm. I heard her telling colleage it had been left on the side. After two mouthfuls, we paid and left. The staff did not bother to ask if everything was alright with the almost untouched food, considering no one else was in at the time. Very disappointing, worst café I've been to and will definitely not be returning.

Overcooked bacon was too crispy and hash browns were too dry and over cooked

Cheap teabags, uHT milk and 30min wait for a toastie, still wasn't on my table to paid for my tea and left. Very poor no screens up

Good for breakfast with tables spaced and double doors giving excellent ventilation. Nice people run this. Recomended

Me and my girlfriend had Egg, Mushrooms and Chips. Very prompt service. Hot and delicious....we heartily reccomend!

Little place on Southchurch Road. Tipical small cafe nothing extra catching, possibly it could do with regular dusting as could notice by eye that bar itself has been covered in certain areas. Staff trying to be attentive but it feels a lack of training or professionalism. Given the cost of the food you will get nice size portions. Definitely prefer their sausages as seems they are not fried hence less oil on the food and feel bit healthier. Bacon I would welcome definitely slightly bit bigger size. Otherwise I can not fail my full breakfast option. P. S update. : yes you are correct it's called counter, apologies English is only my second language.😊 Regarding your dusting, if you follow your counter all the way around to the wall where its meeting with your drinks fridge along the wall you will find your dusty area!! Clearly seen by anyone sitting along the wall right next to the counter!! Unfortunately some reviews might not be to the expectancy of owners and workers but definitely way to learn from and definitely to improve. It usually leads to higher income and better feedbacks in future.

We visited here this morning, lovely little cafe, the food was lovely & the fried slice was the best I've ever had (not greasy). The service & waiter was excellent!

Clifford's Coffee Shop is the best of the best of Coffee Shop's I have ever been in. In fact, in my opinion it is the Greatest Coffee Shop of its kind in the whole of Southend East!! I introduced my fiance to Clifford's, approximately two years ago and we have been attending there ever since. I have been going to Clifford's for just over seven years now since I moved to Southchurch and haven't ever had any complaints. Every time my fiance and I have been there, we feel extremely comfortable, welcomed, appreciated and the customer service is out of this world. In conclusion of my above "Nobody does it better than Clifford's Coffee Shop." We love all the staff very much. ☕🥂💌😎

Very good meals today, considering the covid 19 circumstances! We felt safe through the whole time spent there!! We would recommend this establishment to everyone.

Great little cafe, staff friendly. We had a panini and chips and coffee and great value.

Their latte was lovely, but the breakfast wasn't up to scratch. Their bubble and squeak had mixed veg instead of cabbage in it. So it tasted nothing like bubble and the mushrooms were dry and tasteless. I shall not be going back there.

Been before and it was good, but this time service was extremely slow, and it isn't that big a place. And why default to instant coffee unless you explicitly ask for fresh, very odd.

Unacceptable waiting time for scrambled eggs on toast, had drunk my tea and read the paper twice, when presented the toast was burnt and the eggs must have been quails egg, looked disgusting. Paid and left without consuming. Not recommended.

Awful - over priced and coffee tasted like it was there a few day's. Poached eggs on toast and coffee £8 and worth about £2

I love this cafe. Never had a bad meal. Only ever had 1 mistake on an order that was IMMEDIATELY rectified. Fresh food served fast. Staff are lovely and polite and care about their service. Always a great value meal.

I popped here today with my Partner, i was on my lunch break from work and we chose a cafe so it would be quick. Partner said the food was good. We got there at 12.10, ordered by 12.15 and were still waiting at 12.35, for a cheese & tom panini and poached eggs & beans on toast. There was one other customer, a regular it seemed, that walked in about 10mins after us and received his food first. The panini was not very nice, tasted like margarine and stodge. The 'poached' eggs were hard inside. I didn't eat mine as it wasn't worth feeling rough over, my partner finished his as he hadn't eaten all day but said he wouldn't be going back. The lady let us off 0.90p for the wait - so it only cost £11 in total. She didn't ask what was wrong with the panini, even though i left it on the side and said i couldnt eat it. My partner thinks the cook has changed and the business might be being handed down. Either way, it needs massive improvement.

I came here ages ago and thought the coffee wasn't good, came here again recently and it was still terrible. The latte was like drinking a hot sweet cup of milk and I couldn't drink it.

Try the stews , all the food is of a high standard but the stews are brilliant , big portions, tasty with loads of mash and very filling, proper English winter food

With two small children we were made so welcome by the friendly staff. We eat a brunch that was outstanding in a very warm and friendly environment. Prices are very good.

Breakfast for 9 around about 11 on a Sunday. We had reserved a table due to the numbers. Between us all, we had a cooked breakfast, though some appetites were smaller than others. The food was beautiful! Cooked great, served great and not a drop of grease in sight. Good value, with unlimited tea or coffee, a perfect way to start a Sunday morning.

Clifford's Coffee Shop is just round the corner from me. I like the idea of having breakfast there, popping in for a cup of tea or coffe with a friend or visitong for some take away treats for kids after school.

I go here quite a lot with some other mums - always very accommodating even when we rock up with loads of buggies moving all the tables about. Large portions, decent prices, friendly staff.

Fabulous service with a smile from proprietor Julie, and her right hand Karen. All staff are friendly and helpful. Food is cooked to order and they are always amenable to change taking into consideration specific dietary requirements. Great community atmosphere, with lots of regulars.

At the end of Southchurch Road, just before the White Horse crossroads is a hidden gem of a cafe/coffee house. The staff are very friendly; the atmosphere inviting; the place spotless. Their breakfasts are substantial, well cooked fare, and like all good caffs if you don't like beans you can swap them for something else. My personal favourite? The American breakfast.
