A small, brisk, efficient and very good fish and chips shop.

Recently moved to the area - its got everything you need from a local chippy. Good quality at a good price, ran by a lovely couple.

What can I say? Absolutely lovely freshly cooked fish and chips. I have just moved into the area and was blown away by the quality. The Haddock was lovely and white and the mushy peas were the best I’ve ever had. Very highly recommended.

It's our favourite one. It's quite compact but the quality of fish is REALLY good, actually it's our favourite and we tried fish and chips in many places of the UK .

Solid fish and chips at a good price , crispy fish batter and well cooked chips.Can’t ask for much more when it comes to fish and chips , can get quite busy at times so can be worth phoning ahead in advance to pre order your food. 5/5

Reading the good reviews I was eager to try but was unfortunately very disappointed. The fish batter whilst crispy on the outside was so thick it was uncooked on the inside leaving an awful coating on the fish. The chips were pale and even though I asked for lots of vinegar got only a splash. Please bring back you being able to add your own salt and vinegar

Craved fish and chips, but our usual (Wetherby Whaler) was closed for a refurb, so looking into other chippys in the area and found here. Very impressed, and I would say as good if not better than WW. I’d even go as far as saying it was better than fish and chips at the Magpie Cafe in Whitby which I visited recently. Highly recommend Clifford Fisheries if you’re in the area and want a chippy lunch or tea.

Wow! If every seaside had a branch of these life would be so much better! Why do some chippies get it so wrong? The lovely people at Clifford’s keep it so clean and the food is cooked perfectly

Village fish and chip shop run by a Chinese couple. Pleasant enough but really need to organise themselves better. They advertise to phone and then collect, however, they don’t usually answer the phone. So you walk there and wait outside for 40 minutes in a queue (Covid 19 regs). Thank goodness it wasn’t raining. Fish is cooked to order which should give you the best representation of the meal. Fish was very very oily (mentioned before in other comments) and the batter doesn’t do anything to enhance the fish. Chips were typical style that you’d get in a Chinese take away. Not quite sure what they did to them but very crispy bits of potato. Mushy peas were okay. If you don’t have access to a car then go there only if you’re starving and there’s nothing in the fridge/cupboard. If you’ve got a car then go to the Wetherby Whaler. You’ll pay a bit more but won’t regret the trip. Anyone giving this establishment a 5 star rating clearly has never had decent fish and chips.

Superb fish and chips cooked and served by two lovely people. It is a real asset to Clifford and the surrounding areas. Plus they also welcome phone orders and now take card payments. Keep up the great work guys.

Been here tonight, just round the corner from us in Boston Spa. Food all cooked to order on arrival (but quick all the same). Seemed busy with people coming and going. Very reasonably priced too. Will use again for sure, great alternative now the one on the high street has gone. Also, Wetherby Whaler is £££!

first time for us & they were truly delicious fish & chips. It was a big family order, so we called in advance , All ready for us when we arrived. Everything was excellent. Good portions. Fish was in a really light batter & beautiful & flaky. Chips were perfected fried, chunky. We had a portion of scraps, gravy, mushy peas & curry & all of them (yes I had a dab of each!) were really very good. we'll definitely be back.

I think these are the best fish and chips around, better than Wetherby and tadcaster. Yes they cook them to order so you have to wait a little while to get served but they are worth the wait.

I visited just after 5PM on a Thursday for a takeaway Fish and chips. The restaurant was small but clean and tidy, however there was quite a long wait and the portions were rather small. The fish batter was very poor and the fish itself (haddock) was not the best quality. (We had a cottage just 3 minutes away so we couldn't attribute the poor quality to that).

This has got to be the cleanest fish shop ever and I know how hard it is to keep everything spick and span, having worked on a chip shop counter. But more importantly the fish and chips are amazing. Fish is cooked to order. Lovely crispy batter. Curry sauce is excellent and the couple who run it are very friendly.

Staying locally in Clifford and visited on Good Friday tea - time. Worth stepping out in the cold! FABULOUS Fish & Chips, by far the best we've eaten in a long time. Pleasant staff. On a very busy road but parking is available close by. You order fish and chips etc and then they try ie there is none available on hot plates etc. Portion size small. Decent taste but for oily cooking we found our food very dry.

Está muy limpio y la gente es agradable la espera es aceptable, pero las porciones son pequeñas y la calidad aunque bueno no es excelente, el Whaler es lo suficientemente mejor para que merezca la pena el viaje, pero como me gusta para prestar apoyo a las empresas locales, regresaré en ocasiones.

The best fish and chip shop in the area; the food is cooked to order, which means it takes slightly longer, but does mean it's always fresh. The shop is also always spotless, and the couple that run it are very friendly and welcoming.The only fault is that it closes quite early, and doesn't open Saturday evenings - even then, it still merits 5 stars.

Hadn't been for a while. Just went impromptu and had fish with lots of salt and vinegaand a bread bun to eat now. And walked down the road and sat in the small park behind the village hall. All very nice and very pleasent service by the local couple who have it these days.

It's well worth the wait when you place your order on arrival at this great chippy as everything (sometimes even the chips) are cooked to order. This gives you hot and tasty fish and chips (or whatever you order) at a good price with decent sized portions. Well done and keep up the good work!

We are so lucky to have this little gem! The fish and chips are brilliant every time nearly all of it is cooked fresh so expect a wait but it's well worth it. They don't open late so it's only lunch and tea but we have never been disappointed in the past two years.

Been going here for about 7 or 8 years now and I can honestly say I have never a bad meal. 10 times better than the whaler.

As our local chippy we always try support this lovely little takeaway, but it's no trouble to do so! The fish and chips are always tasty and cooked to order, and we appreciate the smaller portions available. The couple that run it are always polite and the service is good. Not open on a Saturday night so take advantage during the week!

If you are ever within striking distance of Clifford, you must go here. This is more than a fish and chip shop, it is more like a friend making you dinner. Freshly prepared when you order, great value for money and service with a smile. Even better is to have a scallop butty whilst waiting, for your freshly cooked fish. Cannot recommend highly enough, puts all others in the shade.

I think this is the best fish and chip shop in the whole Wetherby area, with fish cooked to order they are nice and hot when you get them back home to eat. Well worth a visit.

Always use this as it has the best takeaway fish & chips in the area. Fish always cooked to order so not sitting about being kept warm. Chips also cooked in small batches so always fresh. Would definitely recommend.

We reguarly come to this chip shop. Food is excellent. Shop is spotlessly clean. Staff very friendly and lovely. Prices very reasonable. Nice meals for kids like a happy meal size with better food!

Fish are always cooked to order so its not the sort of place where you are offered a curled up bone dry haddock, and the fish are hot, white and delicious .The owners are always friendly and have many years in the catering business as they used to have the "birds nest" in Boston Spa which was a fantastic take away.Try Clifford fisheries - you wont be disappointed, I never am and I go nearly every Saturday lunch !

Sadly the only takeaway in the village with limited opening hours but much better than its nearest neighbour in Boston Spa!
