Cliffe Spice in Medway

A few mates decided to go to Cliffe Spice for breakfast whilst our boys were doing their footy training. I ordered poached egg on toast and a mocha =£6.45 , my mates ordered scrambled egg on toast , bacon egg sausage roll. After 30 mins still not having our food, the guy came out and said he doesn't know how to do a poached egg, is there another egg you want. 🙈🤦🏻. I have then opted for scrambled egg....finally after 45 minutes we get our food which was luke warm. To be honest the scrambled egg looked and tasted like mush, but to be polite we ate it and left... my overall review is there is no value for money and I find it very strange no one knowing how to do poached egg when your in an cafe....🤔 don't think we will be going back for breakfast anytime soon..

Booked for 7 pm but felt the restaurant was not really ready. 3 men sitting around chatting and didn’t seem ready to serve. However they were friendly and brought poppadoms and dip stuff. My prawn puri starter was luke warm, the pancake flabby, the prawn filling mushy. Did not enjoy it. The main, mixed tandoori grill, came without salad or mint yogurt sauce. Meat dry but plenty of it. Naans fresh and delicious. I have to say I was rather disappointed in this meal.

Our usual takeaway closes on Tuesday, so we decided to order from Cliffe Spice. The phone was answered promptly, our order taken , option to pay by cash or by card (we chose cash), and we were told the meal would be delivered in 45 minutes. Not bad, considering we are a ten minute drive away (about 5.5 miles). So we were pleasantly surprised when the meal arrived less than 35 minutes later by a very pleasant, well mannered driver. The food itself was excellent: piping hot and absolutely delicious. Sometimes Indian restaurants over-cook meat, but the chicken, lamb and prawns were all juicy and soft, and although highly spiced, all the dishes were completely balanced and we could still taste the individual elements. It was one of the best Indian meals we have had, certainly on a par with top London restaurants like Bombay Brasserie, but nowhere near as pricey. In fact, we thought the overall cost to be very reasonable compared to other local restaurants, and considering the amount of meat in it, it was exceptional value. Even the Peshwari Naan was stuffed full of coconut, unlike some I have had where you are hard pressed to be able to taste it. The one element that we were not completely happy with was the onion bhajees, which seemed slightly under-cooked to us. They left a floury texture on the tongue, as if the gram flour had not cooked all the way through. However, that was not sufficient to spoil the meal, nor to downgrade our rating. In fact we will probably go to the restaurant itself next time rather than order a takeaway, to get the full experience.

Best curry I’ve ever had! The chicken tikka Marsala was just perfect and the chutney sauces was amazing, the atmosphere was strange and very empty in there. The food is reasonably priced, and the young brunette waitress was great and very helpful.

Ordered the take away. The food tasted all very much the same minus a few exceptions. Everything was extremely oily though. It was all just a bit flat. Wouldn’t ordered from here again, our go to was Pink Paprika and we wanted to try something new.

DON'T BOTHER GOING ! ........ I I could give 0 stars I would. The food is in my opinion of super market standard. The service was shocking, 1 waiter and one girl who usually does deliveries was roped into help out. She did a fab job and was lovely. My biggest issue was the menu..... the drinks section said Rosè wine £3.95 per glass, there were no medium or large prices just per glass. So when I ordered a glass of rosè I expect to pay the menu price. Well that was what I expected however the waiter had other ideas and when we went to pay he said my glass of wine was a large so was more expensive, and apparently all the cobra bottle beer prices were £1 more expensive than the menu price. We were told the prices were old! I wouldn't entertain this establishment if it was the last curry house on the planet.

Been using cliffespice for over 15 years as we live local, food is always good, just ordered through deliveroo, be prepared for a long wait !!! Would have been quicker to drive to the nearest supermarket, pick up a ding meal, drive home, cook it.. cliffespice obviously don't update the delivery app, and when it did turn up it was cold and not what we ordered.

Our order was delayed by an hour... we called twice, the first time they said the order was out for delivery. Called again 30mins later and the manager came on the phone angry, saying that they were busy and that we needed to wait. The food arrived cold, we were missing our dips and a main. We gave up trying to resolve it. We won't be ordering again. We spent over £30 and barely got any food.

We felt like a turd in the sun with the amount of flies bugging us whilst sat there. Sauces were great and owner seemed pleasant and trying, sauces were lovely but the chicken (not for us) wrong texture hard to cut.

Mediocre,not particularly tasty, quite bland .The rice was dry Wont be using again.

First visit for me under the current management. Food was excellent!!! Cannot fault it. Decor is a little tacky but I’m not there to look at the wallpaper. Service was 8/10 Maybe the guy was new but he seemed very nervous and uncertain of the menu. Reasonable priced - will definitely be back.

This establishment used to be very nice but has soon turned to rubbish, the main waiter was absolutely useless wandering around like a headless chicken not having a single clue or care to give leaving the poor girl behind the bar to do ALL the work she was the ONLY good thing about the place. The table that was there before us waited 2 hours for their food as did we when we finally got round to being waited on. The cooks couldn't have been any slower if they would have had their hands tied behind their backs and blindfolds on. When we finally received our meals every dish tasted the same which would have been alright if any of it tasted any good. The whole time we was there there was people standing in the middle of the restaurant for hours waiting for collection food. Not a good experience at all. Won't be going back.

Terrible service Ordered takeaway and advised 45-50 minutes wait, phoned after 90 minutes and told on its way, phoned 2 hours after original call and told again it was on its way. I told them I want to cancel our order. Delivery then turned up 15 minutes later. Told driver the order was canceled and sent him away Terrible service

We ordered food at 6:15pm, was told 45-50 minutes delivery waited half an hour after delivery due, phoned at 7:30 and was told delivery was on its way bearing in mind it’s only a 6 minute journey away, nothing arrived so phoned again at 8:15 (two hours after original call) and was told on its way so cancelled the delivery and ordered with someone else which arrived in the time we was told.

After a 2 hour wait call them for them to say its on the way 35 mins later still not arrived will not use again shame

Used to be excellent came here for years but new management waited 2 and a half hours for our mains without even an apology. Table behind waited 2 hours for cold food, couldn’t recommend now.

Had a few takeaways in the past on this occasion not Impressed at all. A hair wrapped into the tied bag or salad. Followed by a second hair in meal. Phoned to complain and received an abrupt response from manager. Phone uber eats and put the phone down. I did but uber eats didn't put the hairs in my food. I wanted to let them know. Won't be ordering anymore, appalling response.

We went in today and were disappointed that we could not get wine with our meal as they no longer serve alcohol. This place seems now to cater more for take away than a full restaurant service. The quality of the food has also become rather ordinary. Definately not as good as it was. But the service we received was welcoming and enjoyable.

Lovely food!! We always go here for a Indian takeaway. We have found when ordering over the phone for delivery occasionally things have been missed off, but this has always been rectified with discount or an extra item with no problems.

This place is brilliant. Certainly a 5 star Indian. I've been to many Indian restaurant that have been average but this place is by far the best of them all. They do an eat as much as you want on a Sunday for a brilliant £13.95 per head. It's definitely somewhere to go for dates or with the family. I recommend the tandorri mixed grill it was brilliant and also their naan breads are to die for. I already can't wait to visit here again.

Delivery is very slow, takes 2 hours some times so its better to collect as only 40 minutes, but food is always very very good.

Recently moved to Cliffe Woods and this was the first time we had ordered food from Cliffe Spice.The online ordering was effortless and the food ready for collection exactly as shown on the website. All food was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Will definitely be visiting Cliffe Spice in the future.

All food was delicious as normal, myself and my Family love coming to Cliffe Spice and today we had it delivered, all piping hot and fresh.

We started using the take away service a few months ago after frindsbury spice closed down. The food has always been excellent and delivered hot and within the time slot. The delivery girl is nice and friendly.

I ordered with you on food hub, 50 minutes after I ordered I get a message saying you are closed. This leaves me no time to order food elsewhere. It also takes 3 - 5 days to get a refund. This is shocking service. If you can't fulfil the orders don't advertise you can. I won't be coming back

Terrible service and food , been using this restaurant for many years and the service has always been hit and miss, along with the food sometimes good sometimes bad .However I feel that this restaurant has gone down hill very quickly.Last night we waited three and a half hours to get our food , there was only three couples on tables in there however priority is giving to the take away customers they were queuing in the restaurant and the phone never stopped ringing. It was rather like sitting in a very busy circus ! The take away customers were complaining theft they had waited over an hour and some very unhappy customers.The staff hadn’t got a clue what was going on and we were asked if we would Like the desert menu before we had had our main course. Some members of staff wearing there mask on there chin . When our food eventually arrived after the take away customers had been served , my curry tasted like vegetables with gravy on it and was very bland , there was also a black creepy crawly thing on our popadums .Old dirty menus were used not disposable paper ones , and no alcoholic drinks .Terrible night expensive and even worse service.

The only good things about here are the customer service and the onion bhajis. Apart from that the chicken tikka starter was really dry and hard, the samosa was average. The main itself, the curry.. had hardly any flavour and the chicken was tough. Rice was nice but the bread tasted under done. Overall it’s probably the worst meal I have ever had in an indian restaurant and I have been to lots.To anyone who enjoys it here im guessing they haven’t been to other restaurants as it is so basic and I think I could have made a better curry myself at home.I certainly will be going back.It really has no authenticity at all.Will be trying Naz Rosoi and New Shad as that was the original plan anyway.If you want a real authentic Indian do not go here

Have been ordering takeaways here for the last 5 years or so. Today was the last one. Told an hour delivery which is fairly normal. 1 1/2 hrs later ing to chase to br told will arrive in 20 mins. 40 mind later ring to complain to be called a liar about the wait. This is now the 3rd time in a row delivered late. Cancelled the order and went elsewhere Will not be using again AVOID

Myself and my wife went to celebrate. Changed our orders up slightly and went for something new. The food came out absolutely spot on, we only live up the road, a little bit gutted we've not been sooner. Highly reccomend, will be returning

Visited Cliffe Spice for the first time in a couple of years last night.

Food was cold and didn’t taste like a madras at all, the garlic naan bread didn’t taste like anything and the king prawn special starter cost £5 odd for one prawn in a curry sauce.

We went back to The Cliffe Spice for the first time for about 10 years last Sunday. I am very glad to say it has improved in that time. The food was lovely, the menu was very large, and the service was good. I am sure we will certainly be going back again sometime soon.

Called the restaurant after waiting 40 minutes over the expected delivery time. They advised that it was out for delivery but we could come to the restaurant and collect it if we preferred. The food arrived an hour and a half late. The delivery driver said he had left 15 minutes ago, whereas the restaurant claimed he had left 45 minutes before that. Previously requested delivery from the restaurant (about a year ago) which also turned up over 1.5hrs late and required prompting.

Ordered at half 7 didn’t receive until 9pm delivery driver was in a bad mood didn’t even apologise

This is the first time we’ve ordered from here, we were very impressed. Very tasty, quality food.

Getting a little fed up now. We eat in at this establishment and have takeaways although nigh on every time either a dish is missing or we are overcharged, or both. This is a real shame as the food is nice but just feel a little fobbed off when the staff explain that they are sorry but just seems to happen a little too often to just be a coincidence. All people want is what they paid for at the prices set out on the menu, is that too much to ask?

Terrible! They are using a local known alcoholic and drug dealer/user! To deliver the food, late! Stone cold (we had to heat it up in the microwave!) this is actually the first time we have EVER received all of our order as they always have things missing and I have never had any kind of money offered back and 10 minutes after delivering our cold food he returned to collect the receipt?? Why does he need that with all of my personal details on?

The food was late, called the restaurant for an update and the person on the other end was really rude. When the food arrived, it was hot (was expecting it to be cold) and really nice. Don’t think I’d order from here again, such a shame as it was a great curry.

We found this restaurant online and have to say its in a little parade of shops and we had gone by the trip advisor reviews before booking, but there is plenty of free parking opposite, The restaurant is small and well run, staff lovely and food was amazing. So much choice. They are really busy Thursday to Sunday and apparently they do an all you can eat buffet on Sundays. Would definately return soon. They have been there 20 years so must be doing something right!!!

Stood in there 20 minutes alone for no one to serve me, called for someone but all in kitchen. I could have robbed your shop blind especially as no one was there! Ensure you always have someone at the front or the kitchen door open for loss prevention. 1 star 👎🏼

I have to say it was delivered fresh and hot . If I’m honest the meal was disappointing, not least as the reviews are all very positive. Perhaps it was because it was lunchtime and a takeaway.

When out with a friend just a typical meal , 2 mains, 2 sides, nan bread and a veg side both having a soft drink and the bill came to over £50.

When I called after 30mins to find out where the food was, the man was shouting down the phone unable to hear anything I was saying. I asked if there would be a discount and he said well you’ve already paid on just eat so no. I explained a number of times that I had chosen cash. He shouted oh take off a pound then. The food arrived and was cold.

Went to cliffe spice on Friday night with the intention of finding a good curry house around the Medway area. All three of us had different curries which were all very tasty. I would recommend Cliffe spice for its good food and value for money.

This used to be our go to takeaway or sit down but won't be any more. Where are all of the friendly waiters? Where is any atmosphere? Where is the food where each dish tastes different? Not here any more. Not cheap either.

Went to cliffe spice last night on a date night and everything from the service to the food was outstanding. Everyone there is very friendly and very helpful and made us both feel very welcome. Wasn’t to sure of what I wanted but they sorted me out an delicious meal. Very tasty and full of flavour. Will definitely will be going back there would recommend 10/10.

I note that the large proportion of reviews have been positive except the last two. I went on a Sunday evening and the experience was awful. A party of six with a small child dominated the restaurant, shouting, with even the adults standing on seats. Yet the management did nothing to stop them. This showed real disrespect for other diners on the part of the staff. The food itself was very poor. Couldn't wait to get out.

Food was good - just a shame you don’t get the usual free poppadom/ dips that we’ve become accustomed to when ordering an Indian. little things like that don’t cost much but go a long way.

I will never go back to this restaurant which is such a shame as the food was really nice it's just a shame the waiter was absolutely useless, we were the only two in the restaurant so the first thing he done was watching online videos on his phone really loud while we were eating, he was also very clumsy and wasn't polite in the slightest as though he wasn't bothered and we was a hindrance to him, to top it off when I called him to ask for water he didn't reply and called a few more times nothing, he had fallen asleep and I had to really shout to wake him up, I've never heard anything quite like it that it was that bad it was comical.
