Clarence Pier Brewers Fayre in Portsmouth

Did a Quick review of the menu whilst at Clarence pier end of portsmouth and found a very reasonable priced menu for late lunch/early dinner £6 meals for a family of 4 which was great value, nice portions and very nice food. All staff were very polite, made it an enjoyable visit. It was very clean and tidy and definitely recommend this to others.

We came to the Clarence Pier Brewers Fayre with a group of 42 French students and 4 teachers on our way back to France before getting on the ferry. We really appreciated how fast and well we were served. The staff was nice and efficient. We recommend the place ! We would like to come back.

Staying at the premier inn just for one night. Thought we would eat on site Tried to order lasagna ( not available) so asked for pizza ( not available) ended up with beef and ale pie as menu is limited to start with ( that’s without food that isn’t available ) my son ordered curry which was tasteless , I didn’t eat the pie crust as t doesn’t agree with me but there was nothing else on the menu I liked . The pie filling even gave me heartburn. The coke and non alcoholic cider were flat and to be quite honest cleanliness wasn’t the best. Our table was sticky ,there was food all over the floor and the walls were grubby could do with a good refresh. The staff were friendly enough but not all were smartly dressed. Could do with a set uniform and a bit of a smarten up ! I sorry to say we pretty much wasted 50.00 on food and will not be returning to this particular brewers fayer restaurant in a hurry👎🏻

Went in the other day and was served by Charlie behind the bar, she’s always got a smile and great attitude. My food which was amazing was brought out by Lana, I had the fish and chips and it was amazing as always. Thank you Clarence team!

They had ran out of certain foods.

Half of the menu unavailable without any proper notice until trying to place an order. As this is the school holidays I find this situation very poor as a lot of people are out and about. This I feel is extremely bad planning. Had to order an alternative which was also out of stock 3 attempts to find the items which were available. No apologies and lack of management to support the staff getting the flack from customers. Simple items like rice unavailable. Also spent less than we would have due to the lack of availability of food.

Regularly come here for breakfast and evertime 1 member of staff in particular by the name of des does a great job every time

First-time visitors after being recommended to us for the buffet breakfast. As it was a weekday, it was actually cooked to order rather than buffet style, so the food was lovely hot and fresh when it got to us. The staff member who served us, Des, was so lovely! Very friendly and explained how it all worked perfectly. We will definitely be returning and definitely recommend it to others. Great value for money. Noticed whilst we were there that children under 16 can eat free with any full paying adult (ours was at school today but one to remember for the holidays for sure!)

Went in for some food with two friends, was served by Kelly, Miles and Mia, service was great and food was amazing! (Try the cheese burger topped chips, they are so good!!!) we also had a cocktail which was really nice! Will be going back for more!!

In the summertime, the place is jumping with people but I have visited here at least once a month now for a while and the food is really nice and the staff are very helpful and kind. When the summer rolls in it will get busy so you can always reserve a table which I highly recommend.

We’ve been coming to Clarence Pier Brewers Fayre in Portsmouth for years now, and it never disappoints. The food is always consistently good, and the staff are warm and welcoming every time. A special shoutout to Mitch – he’s absolutely fantastic and always goes the extra mile to make sure everyone feels looked after. My wife especially loves their Sunday roast – it’s a weekly tradition for us now! Looking forward to seeing you all again next week!

I am afraid to say Brewers Fayre is not the eatery it used to be. I used to consider it on the higher end of pub grub. Clearly cut its menu, minimum wage staff and not really caring. My food was poor I had about 10 chips and a pie for 12 pounds. A table next to me had hair in their food. No table service at all. Menus thrown at us on the table. I felt I was an inconvenience. It is what it is now a Weatherspoons experience at best. It is a shame as I would aim for Brewers Fayre as I knew it was slightly better quality. Cheap and cheerful I know what I will get in the future.

Terrible food. Over priced for what it was. Nothing was cooked right. Put 4 people on a 3 people table cause we had a baby.

Poorest brewers fayre I've ever been to. Wasn't told how long food would be when ordered. 45 min wait in total. Food was beyond poor. Steak order was meant to be medium, came out well done, had been sitting under heat lamp for a fair while. Chips luke warm, very small portion of chips, ordered peppercorn sauce for the steak and that never arrived. Only positive was that we got a refund on the steak and sauce, we were the only people who complained about our meal when we were there. Definitely won't be back which is a shame

Amy, Jacob and Sue all had great customer service. Food was great and we felt very relaxed. They were welcoming and happy in their work. Please ignore the negative reviews.

I came in on a busy Saturday night and the girl at the bar Esmae and the manager Ryan were stunning! Amazing customer service from both of them! Sat me quickly and served me equally as fast, the teamwork definitely shows! Would 100% come back again

Great value fur money on the Pier

Haven't been to this establishment for many years. Due to not being in the area so much. The Brewers Fayre set up has been changed and really tided up. However there is a very strong odour of cooking fat in the 'air' so that's something that hasn't really changed!! Food was ok and was cooked completely all the way through. The pub itself was quiet and service was good. However only other let down were the toilets on the ground floor which were well and truly broken. Not a bad visit on this occasion.

I Went for drinks for a friend’s birthday, a lovely girl named Esmae served us with a smile and a lovely friendly approach. She made the experience pleasant and would return back with no hesitation.

Came in for drinks with some friends on Tuesday this past week. The service we recieved from Esmae was incredible and very friendly in a great atmosphere. Staff shout out to Esmae

Has s kids softplay which is fantastic to be honest. Food was alright, my plate came out and the food was sort of luke warm. The other adult meal and the kids meal was really hot so I made an exception. Bottomless refills were decent. Redeeming factor really, the staff were amazing. Cleared our table really promptly, Server taking our meal order was lovely and polite, really helpful when we needed it. Would probably visit again!

We went for the carvery that was supposed to be served till six. We arrived at four thirty to be told carvery had stopped. Staff looked rushed and understaffed but were smiling and accommodating throughout our time there.

Very good for a Brewers Fayre and in a great location near the Seafront and Clarence Pier. However, very understaffed, so it seemed.

Can’t fault this place. Staff lovely. Food good. Puddings yum. Very enjoyable visit. It’s a go to for us on a Sunday. We go at least every 6 weeks. Never been disappointed

Nearly fully booked and we got a table, they took our order before the kitchen opened which helped with kids. Lovely little play area and clean too. We visited about 2 years ago and it was the worst experience we have had and today was like a different place Service - Quick and good Food - Hot Fresh and Fast Play area - Clean and tidy Staff - Polite and engaging Standards - well kept and maintained Over all a clear winner, bloke in a blueish shirt served us and was called Derik and asked for feedback, I thought at the time not if it’s like last time you won’t, but true to my word I felt it deserved it and here it is 10/10 great effort

We went in yesterday evening for a meal with my pregnant wife and I can honestly say the whole place is shocking the staff acted like they don’t care about the customers and your just a inconvenience we both ordered the same main course (smothered platter) and I asked them to upgrade 1 of them but they upgraded both and added a sauce on as well which 1 didn’t ask for and £44 just for 2 main courses and 2 refillable soft drinks is quite expensive. When the food did get to us it looked like the kitchen staff don’t give a monkeys about presentation it was just chucked on the plate and 1 of the steaks was cooked medium and to be honest it was as tough as old leather and tasted like it too the chicken tasted strange as if it was off or the deep fat fryers have been cleaned for a while. When we complained all the manager could say was I’ll tell the (chef) we won’t be returning anytime in the near future

Went for my 18th birthday with around 15-20 guests. One year old zach loved it here! Very interactive with my little one, understanding of his mess and loved the soft play area. So did the little girl we went with too, the soft play is a 10/10. Lots of mix ups with food orders but they refunded straight away and replaced missing food. A lot of confusion though. However, it wasn’t the staff that worked there who took the pre-order so not there mess up. Accommodated 6 disabled people around one table; great table service. Not too expensive. There are lots of screaming children; and yelling from the sports but other than that environment was great. Staff super friendly.

Came here for breakfast buffet. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Restaurant was clean. Pancakes were nice. Hash browns were soggy, sausages not very flavourful.

On a day colder than my nans nipples with winds stronger than my granddads back passage, I popped in for a warm and a nibble. I had the mixed grill which was tastier than most chain restaurants manage. A little disappointed by the small serving of peppercorn sauce but it’s not like I was planning on bathing in it so I’ll survive. Had the delicious triple choc brownie for pudding with ice cream. I also discovered I have a sensitive tooth when the ice cream hit it but I’m a trooper and soldiered on through it. Was served by Jules who was very friendly and chatty. I’d recommend this place and I’ll come back when the heavens aren’t unleashing hell on Southsea beach.

Sadly typical pub chain food . But ok for early special I wouldn't pay full price for anything on the menu, poor value for money.

Had our Christmas day 3 course meal there excellent service. And food at a very reasonable price. I would recommend a visit.

Every member of staff were polite and happy. The food was your average carvery but the staff make it. Special thanks to the man in glasses and with blue flames on his shirt for his one on one interaction with my nephew

It's an all you can eat full English as part of the Premier Inn, I've had better, I've had worse....

Quick lunch visit. Bar staff weren't very welcoming, although the serving staff was very helpful. Food was distinctly average and coffe was utter wank.

Staff are friendly hand helpful. Good service. Food came out so fast that it must have been cooked before we ourdered, everything was overcooked and was not very nice. Despite this I'd definitely try again as might just have been a bad night.

The carvery was great, the staff were so friendly and really helpful. Nothing was too much trouble with sorting out table requirements and special dietary requirements. Excellent service and venue.

We booked in for a carvery and they told us that we could have a feed. It’s our last feed in Portsmouth before we all go back to Australia. Really dissapointed in the service, false advertising and laziness from staff. 2 men earlier ordered the exact carvery and we couldn’t. Pretty dissapointing when it is advertised to be on until 6pm. Will not be returning

I went for the all you can eat breakfast buffet.... Damn!!! I ate so much bacon that I may have slipped into some sort of meat based coma!!! This is how everyone should start their day... nobody can be angry with a belly full of breakfast meats... 11/10 will definitely be back

Even thought 2 months ago someone posted a pictures of dirty toilets ..i came along last week to eat something and of course food was disqusting and there was nothing fresh 🤮 i mean even peas was terribly hard and cucumber was so dry. And guess what else? They still didnt clean them toilets !!! Lol If you rely on peoples opinion to decide if you want to go there . Trust me- you dont want to spend money there. Everywhere else will be better. Booooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

First time been, the carvery was beyond disappointing, only two of 3 meets available to what was on the menu, on a Sunday when they have bookings your'd think more be prepared. Lack of vegetables. Yorkshire dry and awful. Roast potatoes disgusting. I did eat the meat my partner ate none of hers. Spoilt evening for our daughters 11th birthday. Staff weren't very apologetic. Not alot of alcohol available on tap. Would not return!

A little slow on service. A typical brewers fire but a pleasant place to dine. Would recommend you book in advance, as they usually are unable to accept walk-in's.

Great for family's went on Sunday and the carvery was good. Downside softplay area not supervised and older kids allowed to run riot knocking over smaller kids.

Very busy on Sunday lunch. The buffet roast is great value for money.

Food was good and fast service from the classic ‘order from the bar’ scenario. Not the place however for those who want a chilled and quiet environment as it is very much a family establishment although it seemed the younger customers are well cared for.

Friendly staff but I hate to say , poor quality and service for food unfortunately, for a basic burger and (watery )chicken salad waiting time was an hour and restaurant wasn’t busy !

We both opted for burgers without the buns, but with a lovely salad instead. Tom, the chef obviously used his imagination as its was one of the best that we've ever had. Very friendly staff made it a really good experience.

It's the little things here for me. The food is reasonably priced for what you get. But then again, I am of the opinion that if I'm paying for it, it should taste good regardless of the charge, it might just be low quality or limited menu. After all I'm a big fan of wetherspoons and would probably recommend that over this particular brewers fayer. While my food arrived warm, cooked throughly and tasted good, the plates felt unclean. After inspection they looked clean but they had a rough / strange feel to them, as if they had dried on old food stuck to them. I have no doubt they had been in the dishwasher though. The bathrooms were however, filthy. The walls, floor and pipes by the sink had damp and mould growing from the water spilling and no one cleaning it up and there was a strong ammonia smell. The baby change was really filthy, dirty nappies and wipes left out and the bins were really full, the smell was unbareable. Tables felt sticky to touch and staff were slow to clear plates away. The children's menu was really good value for money and had fresh fruit and salad options. There is a children's play area, that if you have a child, you will be seated.next to, making for a very loud and distracting eating environment. I went with my 8 month old and trying to get him to concentrate on his food with all the children running around was hard. I fully support the children running and screaming, rather them let it out here and burn the energy than screaming at home and deafening their parents! But I feel it should be something that you are asked if you wish to be seated next to. I think overall the kitchen is good but the front of house needs work.

Really well cooked food . Was quiet on a Saturday night which I don't understand as great views over the Solent and great food .

On arrival, lady manager arguing with a customer at the bar,we were shown to a table close to the kids play area,we sat right in the middle of a very large family party,with kids running around. We did ask to move but were told they cant. The floor around our table had loads of food that previous guests had dropped,staff just left it,if we could see it so could they. Food was average at best. When we ordered the young lady behind the bar disrespected the guy we were ordering from, she was very rude and condescending to him,very unprofessional, hence me leaving this post. We saw so many tables that hadn't been cleared and cleaned,I counted 11 as we left, on a Sunday. Seams there's very low standards here, and I'm not going back.

Really good value for money. The food is really nice and we enjoy having breakfast there. The sofa play is great for the kids to burn off energy.

Really not impressed decided to visit during our Victorious festival day out as it seemed cheaper than eating in the event but unfortunately the portion sizes were poor and the service was shocking waiting for multiple new arrivals to be served whilst I waited patiently at the bar for my desert well past my main meal. Really disappointed as the breakfast I had only a week before couldn't be better!

Waited a bit long for food even though very quiet,been there many times before and not had this problem before ,usually very nice.

Very understaffed, staff then become rude , managers take note, Try picking up a flimsy pint plastic cup to take outside with out obviously pinching in the sides and beer all over ya hand and pub floor,,,,, ridiculous

Loved this place, there was a soft play for the kids, very friendly on arrival, staff great but only one criticism the barman was not very happy, looked as he was feed up 😧. Apart from that great place.
