Takeaway was ready on time and still warm when we got it home. All the dishes were delicious were delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely awful… I will never again use this take away. The food was inedible . What a waste of money. Get a decent chef for god sake!

Never again. Price would be ok if the quality of food & cooking was acceptable but it wasn't. Please get a decent Chef and give them a good enough budget for staff and ingredients. Delivery on time though.

Shocked to see some recent poor reviews. We have found New Claremont to always be first class, we had food delivered on New Years Eve, it was lovely and of usual high standard! Delivery right on time too.

Everything that was brilliant about this place has changed. Very poor food, all our favourites ruined.

Awful! Won Ton soup has no taste, shredded beef was dry and way too spicy, even the sweet and sour was chilli hot. A meal for free which we did not enjoy at all. I’ve used this takeaway for years, under new chef and management it’s terrible. I won’t be back for any more food. I could have made better myself and I’m not a cook!

I'm 79 my wife 77 so having had lots of experience of Chinese food yesterday's carryout was probably the worst we've ever had! I think we got leftovers from the previous day, the meat was so over cooked. Crispy roast duck was hard to chew, cold and inedable . Don't bother going.

Tip Top, Good quality, and plenty of it. They were very busy so I'd advise ringing to order first. They do deliver though.

Ordered 4 meals and it was ready in about 5 mins and when we got home found it was Really bland and tasteless my wife thins it’s the worst takeaway she has ever had definitely won’t be going back.

As a family we were staying at Whitley Bay Caravan park for the weekend . Not knowing the area we took a chance on ordering takeaway for delivery, while ordering the lady on the phone said there would be a wait of an hour and a half as were really busy . We are so pleased we did . We ordered soup , duck and pancakes , 3 different meals , egg fried rice and a portion of noodles. The food was absolutely amazing loads of it piping hot and delivery was prompt and efficient . I would recommend them to anyone . Thank you New Claremont Chinese Takeaway for too class service and top class food.

really poor meal tonight we had vegetables with cashew nuts no cantonese chicken and prawns. paid for chips with cantonese dish but discovered these missing when we got home. Really bland and tasteless and first time we have had two tomatoes cut up and added to a chinese dish. Won't be going back very disappointing

Went here after spending all day in hospital with my wife. My wife had a pregnancy craving for beef in black bean and we weren't let down. Friends had recommended the place and I can see why. Plenty of meat, good quality cuts and the black bean sauce had a slight spice to it which was a nice change. Been back since and not a 1 off. Food was ready in 15mins and smells fresh

Had a takeaway from here last week and the food was great, until I realised there were 2 pieces of chicken in our vegetables in garlic sauce! As we don't eat meat we were pretty shocked. We didn't phone back to complain as we had all already eaten a lot of the food and there wasn't much point / it would just put a dampener on the evening. Would suggest giving this place a miss if you have any dietary restrictions as there's definitely cross contamination happening.

We ordered a meal from here after been recommended from a friend, I must say we weren’t disappointed. We opted for house special on spicy garlic sauce, special fried rice chips and curry sauce with a Portion of prawn crackers. The portons are generous with lots of king prawns and meat. Overall the meal was very tasty and a reasonable price of £20.40 with delivery. Will order again in the future and would recommend.

Always ordered chinese from here for the past few years but now 2last times it has been terrible. The portions have changed dramatically but not just that. The quality is not there anymore and it tastes bland and it looks like they are trying to fill the containers with vegetables rather than meat of fish. What a shame. Won’t be going there anymore.

I recently visited this little gem with one of my friends, I opted for the crispy beef in Cantonese sauce a d a portion of chow mien. Being a lover of Chinese/ Cantonese food I had high expectations. And I was not disappointed in the slightest. The beef was cooked to perfection and the sauce was to die for. My friend had the house special curry and egg fried rice. Which as it was gone in all of about 5 minutes he absaloutly loved aswell. Think I might be back tonight for the same again. Thanks for a lush takeaway

This is the best Chinese takeaway ever. I’ve moved from Whitley bay to Wallsend but still travel to the Claremont. Love love love their food.

This Chinese is by far the best Chinese takeaway in Whitley Bay, without a doubt. The staff are friendly and take your orders quickly and are quick to give you your meal. The take away is clean, there is a seating area, where customers can wait and there are newspapers to read as well as a television. The food is outstanding and I am wowed every time without fail. The portions sizes are big and worth the money. It is an expensive takeaway compared to other Chinese takeaway. The food is of good quality and tastes lovely. I have been going weekly recently and will carry on doing so.

It's been a while since we had a take away from here and we'll never go back it used to be great food and value for money not anymore the worst Chinese meal we've ever had

We really struggle to find a decent Chinese takeaway round our way, and thought we would give The Claremont Chinese another try as we haven't been here in ages.

5 adults & 2 teenage children 2 courses each special roast duck, chilli spare ribs whole aromatic spicy roast duck were the most popular of the 7 starters & 7 mains ordered and none of those chosen were disliked .Everyone had their own choice

Food good quality staff polite and efficient whT more can you ask for. The chicken is always fresh and juicy.

Tried to order from here last night, the male answering the phone was so rude and snappy when asked about a particular dish then later cut me off whilst ordering telling me I had to call back as he had a customer - sorry, the last time I checked people ordering via the phone were customers too but not anymore, needless to say we ordered from a much nicer takeaway instead.

Had take away tonight, not been here for awhile as food wasn't as good as normal thought maybe chef had been changed. But tonight's food was oooo so good, chicken chow mein had big lumps of juicy chicken in, special curry had lots of meat, and fried rice was so much better than the gloopy stuff that was sent the last time we had it. Chicken balls was a little greasy but fine once sauce was put over it. I really hope our next take away is as good as this one

Great take away always a high standard and great delivery, they don't have card machine facilities although cash point next door

The food is always good at this popular Chinese takeaway. Sometimes if ordering for a particular time the food may not be ready but The Kittiwake is nandy for a drink.

Ordered 2 curries and rice plus spring rolls including delivery come to £17. My chicken and beef was absolutely fantastic. Huge lumps of chicken and beef soft and succulent. My wife's was a house special prawn were huge tasted fresh. My wife's only criticism was she shared hers with our kids who thought it was a little hot. But for me crunchy onions and spice is always nice..

Quite simply a superb takeaway from which to purchase your meal. Superbly cooked, in generous quantities. The proprietor Eric & his wife are a very amiable & friendly couple.I have purchased Chinese food all over the northeast as well as abroad,including America. However I can honestly say that the taste of the Claremont's food is outstanding. I have purchased & eaten food from here for several years now,& the standard has never dropped.

This is a well-run and friendly place. They serve generous portions, but the food isn't very refined.

had takeaway on new years eve and although service can be slow they had our takeaway for 7 people ready very quickly considering how busy new years eve is - plenty of food as ever and also very nice too - highly recomended

Ran by a great family, with friendly staff as you go in but dont stand around taking as they never stop always on the move! excellent food and a great menu. If it was not for this takeaway the local pub opposite would not have any customers as everyone goes in to the shop to order there food then has a quick pint to wait for there order

Worst Chinese takeaway I have ever had. Recommended by people I know so I don't know how it was so awful. Starter ok - crispy duck, not crispy but rarely is from takeaway. Main was chicken in oyster sauce and fried rice. Chicken was gelatinous with huge globules in. Lots of massive veg, barely cooked. Sauce resembled no oyster sauce I have ever had. Just disgusting and completely inedible. To top things off my rice had a huge black hair in it. Complete waste of money and what was supposed to be a Christmas Eve 'treat' not to cook. Will never ever order food from here again. Would like to formally complain but as it is Christmas Day tomorrow I will forget about it!

Stayed at Whitley bay holiday park and really fancied a takeout.Found this place on trip advisor and just eat. Good, hot food ready very quickly. The taste was good and not greasy as some takeaways are. Only downfall was the boiled rice was in a solid block and very sticky. Still edible and tasty just not a great texture. Would recommend.....just not the boiled rice.

We recently tried this takeaway after too many poor meals from our local chinese. So pleased we did. Meals are really tasty. Definitely our new favourite in the area.

This is a lovely little take away but it's very popular so call early. The food is always nice and hot but be advised it can be very busy if you call at peak time on a Saturday. They will quite happily take your order early though for an advance order. Very friendly staff and delivery drivers.

there are a lot of takeaways in this town and to get us to change to be a regular then you have to be better than them,,, the food was okay but only ok

among the best in newcastle with excelant delivery service, we use this place often and its always been very good, sometimes delivery can take a little longer than you hoped for, but is due to its popularity, they are always very busy, oder early.

Being new to the area thought we would give it a try; big mistake. Meat came in big lumps not slices like most Chinese take-aways, sauce slimy & lacking in flavour. Tried it & will not be returning.

Usually excellent, always plentiful.Our one gripe is the chicken, which tends to be in great lumps as tho made on a production line!Staff are lovely and always remember names and addresses.

We got a take away recently and it was plentiful , the rest is frozen for tea another night and very tasty. We chose mid week to get a take away as trying at the weekend is a non starter as the phones are constantly engaged.

After using this takeaway every week for the last 15 years I thought it was time to add my thoughts and those of my family. The food is great, but yes, you need to phone your order early on a fri or sat (ie by 6pm) because they are really busy, and I always collect, that way it's always nice & hot/fresh. Plus, Eric always knows our order & I don't even have to give him my name (cool). By the way, Chinese food is good for you, I am 55 and still have a 6 pack.

The worst Chinese I have had in a long time the curry was tasteless and the fried rice was stodgy lump of over boiled rice. Will never go there agsin!!!!!

Visited early Sunday evening after a visit to the coast. Hadn't been for some time. Staff extremely pleasant and courteous. Food SUPERB ! as is usually the case. The busy 'phone line is an indication of how good this place really is. Nowhere else I've tried has come close. I don't understand the negative reviews,although maybe it's not the same team behind the scene every session and I've been lucky so far over the years.

We were looking forward to our meal a treat once a month the meal was deliverd it was more expensive than other local takeaways but diddent mind as it was a treat. The meal was dry tasteless and most of it was throwen away the prawns were dry and had no taste and the noodles had no taste at all, the fried rice was just boild rice. The spare ribs were lumps of fat and grissle with a small amoint of meat on them all of the other dishes were full of onion and raw peppers not much else in them. To sum ot up verry disapointed and wont be going back. There are alot of other take aways in the area cheaper and much better quality.

Literally worst chinese ive ever had. I was that starving I coykd have ate anything and it would taste good..... but this definately not! Food was tasteless. Vegetables were uncooked and despite picking up on time and only living 2 mins away food was literally stone cold. Id strongly advise any Chinese over this place ecen if it was just a one off.

I've been using the Claremont Chinese for about 15 years or so now and the food is simply the best around. I've tried various other places over the years but I don't think they come close to be honest!Obviously personal preference plays a part but for instance, the lemon chicken will get you two whole chicken breasts, and the beef chow mein often bulges to escape the foil packaging it's so full of meat.The SINGLE down-side to using the Claremont Chinese is that it is so popular, on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it's often over an hour to wait before delivery when you order. But the food is worth the wait in my opinion!

Very fortunate to have a good quality take away on our doorstep. It has been consistently good for many years and we have enjoyed many meals from there
