Cj'z Cafe in Kingston upon Hull, City of

I have had cj's on a number of occasions and really enjoyed the food but recently we have had terrible experiences of them taking money and not delivering food, and as of recently sending an incorrect order but we're unable to contact them as the number doesn't dial in and you can't get them online or anything so now I'm £30 down and my children are let down.

Stayed at the cornmill hotel for Hull sesh but this didn’t include breakfast.took a short stroll straight down the Main Street after walking out the hotel (past McDonald’s) and saw it was already busy at this place - the food and smell enticed us in.friendly staff and great menu. We had a late a tea, and two full English breakfasts for a bargain £14 total Arrived in good time, hot, tasty and served most importantly with a smile from a waitress who told us it was her second shift - defo worth a visit if staying in area and only short walk further along that road to east park where there’s a splash area and park for kids and a nice wander through the park for adults / families

Ordered a farm house breakfast and it was lovely. Plenty on the plate and all very tasty. The staff were really nice and welcoming definitely be visiting again. Cheers 😀👍🏻

Me my husband and 2 children went to cjs as our normal cafe was closed we got 2 breakfasts a cheese burger meal and a chicken burger meal we was waiting for our food for 40mins which was bad enough our teas had gone cold well before food came when food finally came the toast with the breakfasts had the smallest amount of butter I have ever seen a circle of maybe 1.5 inch in the middle my daughter had the chicken burger and she said it was really chewy we didn't know if she just didn't want it so we tried it and it was awfull so we told her to leave it it wasn't nice I had a word with the lady behind the counter about my daughter's food but she wasn't bothered didn't offer her anything else or a reduced price cost us nearly £30 and we didn't enjoy any of it we won't be going there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone not worth the wait or the money avoid

1st time we’ve used this cafe (9.1.21) pre ordered via phone for collection. 2 large breakfast and some separate bits for my picky son . Every thing was just spot on, clean runny eggs, bean and tomato’s separate ( bonus) . Staff was very pleasant on my husband’s arrival. We will definitely be using again . Keep up the good work .

Finally a brilliant breakfast served by lovely staff whom made me and my mum very welcome..... the food was delicious I ate every bite and the tea was tasty too I would recommend to anyone who asked about this restaurant 5*

Fancied a breakfast butty. So we opted to try Cjs. We ordered our breakfast buns and delivery was quick. They were still hot, bigger than we expected and tasted so good. Would highly recommend

Food is always nice but one of the better things about going in CJz rather then your average cafe was the coffee machine, big massive high spec american style coffee machine serving an array of different coffees. But it has now been broken for a while which is very off putting to myself and a few of the other customers that we have spoken to. Please please hurry up and get it fixed, thinking of finding a different cafe with a coffee machine

Great breakfast deal which is 2 regulars english breakfasts for about 9 quid. The food tasted fresh and they make a killer latte. The place was super busy and I think we got the last table available but service was still good and with a smile. Definitely recommend popping in if you're hungry whilst shopping.

Good food but shame the owner was shouting down the kitchen and swearing at all his staff, been in many times and this isn’t the first time he’s been down talking badly to his staff. Kitchen and front of house staff all lovely but seeing the way the owner spoke to his staff has put us off eating there anymore. An owner should help their team and lead them in the right direction but this was disappointing to see, also was swearing loudly when there was children about.

Went in for some breakfast with my friends and over heard the owner/manager shouting at his staff, especially to a young girl who looked about 17/18 and could tell she was upset about it, food was lovely but just a shame we had to witness that, most of the staff were nice aswell.

Breakfast was nice but was disturbed by the owner shouting rude things towards his staff / swearing in front of customers and slamming about. (Other than that, the rest of the staff were lovely and the food came quickly) just a shame about the owner. This has happened on numerous occasions.

Popped in yesterday with the wife whilst shopping. Well, what a little gem this place is!! As soon as we walked in, eye contact with a lovely warm welcome. "HI" was said again as they came to our table to present menus. Ordered two large breakfasts (came with tea and toast) at a very reasonable price. Service was speedy and breakfasts was LARGE!! and very tasty. Professional and friendly service all round will certainly call again x

Been using this place for the lads at work sarnie order on a Sunday for a while now. Keeping a load of hungry blokes happy on a Sunday morning is not easy. Cj'z does it with ease. The sarnies are big, full of quality ingredients & are reasonably priced. I can honestly say I've just had the best bacon sausage mushroom & tomatoes sarnie ever. The breakfasts look epic as well & the staff are friendly & polite. Can't fault the place.

Great food especially the full English . Always served with a smile by the friendly attentive staff using very good quality produce .

Called in here due to nessesety as sunday no other cafes open, £2.85 for a bacon sandwich, will be the last. Ive had better up the road for half the price.

We always tend to have the famous fry up but after seeing someone with the lasagne I had to try so on my next visit me and husband had it and it was AMAZING! Told my friend all about it so took her for a treat today to find its no longer on menu! GUTTED ... BRING BACK THE LASANGE TRUE ENGLISH CLASSIC ..

Came here after my daughters graduation for lunch and wasn’t disappointed. Had a coronation chicken baguette which was huge and a lovely simple salad. Service was quick and polite and we were made very welcome. Also very clean, light and airy.

Great breakfast fast service clean place although it was a bit cold every time that door opened in out so felt cold at times but!!!!! It's all about the food great job cj ,z as Arnie says WE WILL BE BACK ,😜😋

It was raining and not a pleasant day , but the welcome at CJs was warm and friendly. Although crowded a place was soon found for us. We both had an excellent latte and shared a panini sandwich which was delicious.

Lovely café situated in the heart of Holderness Rd serving appetising freshly cooked food . Everything looks good although I have only had the full English which is great and the bacon sandwiches are full of lovely lean bacon . All served by friendly attentive staff at a reasonable price . Recommended by Kelly , Holly and Ian .

Me and my husband go regularly for the full English breakfast, I have the regular while my husband tackles the traditional farmhouse larger breakfast. They are quite happy to swap anything you don't like for something extra that you do like. Never been left disappointed and always leave with full bellies.

We had 2 Full English breakfasts with toast and a drink (capachino was included NO extra charge) for £8.99, for the two, not each. When we said we didn't want certain elements she said what would we like extra of. The service was quick and the staff friendly, the food was plentiful and well cooked. I shall return as often as I'm in the area as it's too good to miss.

On a visit from north Wales to see family and with them in work today I decide to have a walk and look for somewhere for breakfast ... on arrival at CJ'z cafe the staff where very welcoming as I sat at my table . I order the large cooked breakfast along with a coffee and glass of fresh orange juice... my food was out in good time, it was very hot and very clean( no oil / grease ) on the plate where at most cafes this is a problem.. I couldn't finish it all but I really enjoyed it and will definitely be coming here on my next visit... great value for money ...

Had a full English breakfast which included a delicious latte coffee for £4-99.... Staff were cheerful and efficient. Place was packed at 9:30 on a Sunday morning which says it all really....superb

Firstly. The staff were lovely. Could not fault them for politeness and helpfulness and it was a pleasant suprise to see them all dressed up.

Asa always here the service was excellent. The staff could not be more helpful. We ordered a chicken wrap ,which came with chips salad and a drink for. £3.90. My wife ordered a latte and the young girls that was serving us asked if we needed a side plate so we could share. There was enough for both of us. The food was hot and delicious . We will certainly be back.

I have been to this cafe a few times and i must say their food is very enjoyable. Everytume i have be en it has been very busy which ment there wasn't must space and you do have to wait a little longer, which is expectable with a busy establishment.

CJ's is out of city centre on holderness road. It offers good quality home cooked food at great prices. Breakfast or lunch with hot drink for under a fiver ! Friendly and efficient owner/staff. Its a no frills kind of place but offers great food at excellent prices.

This place is not a restaurant it's more like a Cafe than anything else.

Stopped here for breakfast with a couple of friends after getting off the ferry. The food was very good and excellent value, generous portions, freshly cooked and a good selection . The staff were friendly and attentive.

Visited here a few times taking family and friends, the food quality is fantastic worth the prices. Only ever had issues recently of waitresses been over worked and forgetting out a meal when visited with family, which meant eating before family member(s) and then waiting for them. Otherwise staff are polite, seems a popular cafe on holderness road.

Food was great really tastey, unfortunately the service was very disappointing a young tanned girl took my order and was very rude came back with cutlery and thrown it on the table, leave problems at home not take it out on customers!!!

when sat in cafe the manager was so rude and aggresive to his staff and the staff were too busy giggling with each other to care about service

We eat here often now, this place is always busy. But people are in and out so you soon get seated. Offers great food from breakfast including hot drinks to sandwiches, wraps, burgers, salads, all cheap and very fresh. Staff always friendly and helpful.

What a wonderful breakfast we had on Sunday would recommend it it's well worth a visit staff are very pleasant and well manned don't just take my word for it go and sample it for your self might see you in there?

Popped in here whilst killing time. Wow, what a pleasant surprise i got. Greeted by lovely staff, menu was varied and really extensive. Prices were brilliant. The food arrived piping hot, and was extremely delicious. I would highly recommend this place.

Visited CJ'S before a stag night at the races. There were quite a few of us but we all got our breakfast piping hot and in good time. The food was excellent and there was no grease to be seen unlike some cafe's. The staff were all very nice and the price was very reasonable too. All in all the grab was spot an and set us all up for a great day/night. Defo worth a visit.

On the hunt for a breakfast this morning and came across CJ's. It looked busy which is always a good sign, I walked in, was warmly welcomed and took a seat. I order the large farmhouse breakfast minus mushrooms and was offered a substitute, I happily accepted a slice of black pudding. Shortly after, the breakfast arrived, it was large, just as I was hoping. Served on a warm plate so everything stays warm until the last bite. Everything was delicious, eggs cooked to perfection, sausages were tasty and the black pudding was lush, plentiful bacon and a good portion of beans. Definitely recommend, the big breakfast at least. TLDR: Go get breakfast, you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I were visiting the Holderness Rd area of Hull and stopped in for lunch yesterday afternoon (5 Nov).I had a 3 cheese panini,which came with chips and salad plus coleslaw.It was terrific,and my wife had a jacket potato which came with a generous amount of filling.With 2 large teas the bill was under £9.Friendly staff come and take your order,and all food is cooked fresh.You will not leave his place hungry!!Well worth a visit.*****

Visited this café again. Had a great wrap with chips salad and coleslaw + latte £3.90.Service was excellent as ever. Great care was taken with my wheel chair bound mother-in-law by all the staff. This is a busy no nonsense place serving basic good food at great prices. Pity there re not more places like this.

Never been disappointed until Sunday bacon egg sandwich.. bread cake was stale threw it away hoping this is just a one of as it usually is a nice place for food

I love this place and have been here every time I get the opportunityWhether it's just for a coffee in passing or lunch afternoon nibbles this place can cope with it all.The bacon sandwiches are to die for and I still say to this day that they are the best in Hull if not further afield.If you want something more substantial then go for the Bacon burger as it comes with chips and side salad. To be honest I have never finished one yet but they taste amazing.Add to that a brilliant Latte and you are well sorted for whatever the afternoon brings.It is a typical Cafe with not much room between the tables. The place is always busy and after you have been you can understand why.Cheap eats, good food with an Italian hint has got yo be a recipe for success and I think it is.The staff are always eager and willing to help but permanently busy so you have to take that into consideration.In my book 10 out of 10 for this place.I will soon be back when I am in the vicinity.

This is by far the best cafe I've been in. Our orders were took very quick and the food came very quick and tasted beautiful, the staff were very nice and nothing was to much trouble for them

You know some Sunday's when you fancy a full English but can't be bothered to cook?Then visit this lovely little cafe in Holderness arc.Two full English plus toast and hot drink for £7.99. Now that's value for money. Freshly cooked infront of you it was lovely.This cafe is the busiest on the road and you can see why.Highly recommended

Cracking cafe this is, been here many times normally for breakfast. Excellent value for money. All the meals are nicely cooked and the portion sizes are very generous, i've never left here hungry that's for sure. If you're local this place stand out above the rest in this busy area, definitely recommend breakfast, lunch or tea... Ho and the coffee is very good too! ☕

I come here so often I feel like its my second home. The food is delicious and so cheep. With great deals, amazing prices and friendly staff I would recommend this place for breakfast/lunch. Cj'z is so good that it can get pretty busy though. Great for a lunch date.

We have visited here several times and each time the service was first class . The staff are always willing to help e.g. opening doors for the disabled ,mums with prams or anyone they thinks needs a hand. The food is real good and value for the money. If you want good basic café food this is the place to go - especially the all day breakfast!!

This is a brilliant café offering fabulous food, massive portions & real value.Just check the picture of my Torino panini. Ham, mushroom, onion, cheese & mustard plus a pile of chips fresh salad with mustard dressing & coleslaw. Couldn't eat it all. I know they do take out as dad can never finish his. The best café on holdeness road. Visit you won't be dissapointed. We always eat here for lunch or breakfast regularly.

I am not a picky eater until it comes to eggs, these eggs where cooked to the way I like and I didn't have to ask not one bit of brown crispness and the yolk soft enough to dip your toast in and the big breakfast is big also if you ask they do black pudding which is hard to find nowadays. Will return

This popular haunt in East Hull provides simple but wholesome fare for one and all. The breakfast has the punters lining up to get a table and is good value for money. Plenty of other staple meals and snacks to choose from - well worth a visit.

Been here several times now and have never been disappointed. The service and food is excellent. It is exceptionally good value, especially if you have a meal deal. My partner has the breakfast and CJ'z are becoming quite famous for them! You can see the kitchen and the food prep area from the tables and know it is being cooked properly and freshly prepared. The kitchen staff are amazing the way they all work together and put many larger and more expensive restaurants to shame. There are a couple of tables outside too. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a quick snack or meal whilst shopping on Holderness Road.

Called in when shopping close by.Great idea to have an open kitchen so you can see food being prepared. Excellent breakfast on which you can substitute items if you do not want say a hash brown. Tables quickly cleared and cleaned after each customer leaves. Newspapers on counter to read. Clean modern toilets. Amazing value and fast friendly service. Outdoor seating at front of cafe.

The service was particularly good and the food was fantastic would definitely return it showed hoe popular it was with the amount of customers

The value for money here is amazing. We had a meal and drink for £4.90. I had a panini, chips, salad and latte and it was really filling. I didn't need anything else all day. The standard of the food was excellent, really tasty. I shall definitely go back - many times.Thoroughly recommend for shoppers on Holderness Road and anyone who fancies great food.

I called in CJ's to kill time while shopping on Holderness Road. I ordered a cup of tea and a toasted tea cake. The tea cake was one of the best I have tasted and the tea was very nice. Not bad for £2.05

love doing the charity shops down Holderness Road, but there has never been a nice place to get a decent cup of coffee or something to eat so have always eaten before we go shopping.Don't need to anymore so long as CJ'Z stays open.Had two steaming cups of fresh brewed coffee,3 (well done as asked for )slices of back bacon in a soft ciabatta roll and hubby had a cheese /salami /sweet chilli wrap with a salad and chips and everything was really tasty. Lovely friendly staff as well.Can't believe this place is not on trip advisor yet unless the locals want to keep it to themselves, and there is a lot of them, the place was heaving when we went!
