CJ's Cafe Bar in Mid Sussex

Love this place. Went for drinks one evening and felt like I had found an absolute gem. Great old school rock music, lovely Japanese lager and brilliant vibe.

Usually lovely but today my order was forgotten. As the kitchen was closing my lunch when re-ordered was slapped together, also with missing ingredients. Very disappointing..

Went here for breakfast, dinner and cocktails, all superb. A little gem of a place with a great atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff who make your visit even better. The terrace is a pretty sun spot while downstairs has a edgy vibe thats very cool. We had the turkish eggs and fetalicious for breakfast, beautifully served and super tasty, the seafood platter and tapas are not to be missed and as for the cocktails, they know what theyre doing! Would love to stay here as their hospitality is great

Brilliant service with great drinks and food! Used to come here very often several years ago but hadn’t been in a while, and had also heard that it was under new ownership so decided to pop in for a quick drink and a bite to eat. The kitchen had unfortunately just shut when we arrived but the owner very kindly allowed us to still make our order and we had some delicious cheesy nachos. Since the weather was nice we sat upstairs in the outside terrace which is in the process of being repainted and updated, and is looking fantastic. Ordered a few more drinks and the owner was very friendly - highly recommend this place!

Great bar to pop in to for a cold beer and a snack. The club sandwich with an order of cheesy chips always goes down well.

I had lunch in there a few days back and had the Chicken Souvlaki, superb! I'm quite particular about my Tzatziki I needn't have worried though, theirs was the best! My mate had the steak with mushrooms on sourdough bread, which also looked great. Many thanks guys very well done the chef! The bottled Long Man beer was is also worth a mention.

What a lovely, friendly bar and café with great staff, and the best outdoor terrace in town. Fantastic breakfasts and tasty sourdough pizzas with delicious vegan and vegetarian options. Highly recommended. We stayed at the B&B next door (Gothic House) which was quiet and comfortable - recommended also!

Had a really good time. The Fourking Musos were a great covers band entertainment. Table service was appalling. I spent the whole night returning glasses to the bar. But never mind, we had a good time.

Dog Friendly Cafe with amazing views from the terrace. Such friendly staff and great food, and the view from their terrace to the rear made breakfast an experience! Devastated we dont live locally.

I'll need to try CJ's again sometime. Went there for breakfast, and the people were nice and friendly. It seemed a bit disorganised though, waited for ages to place orders even though it was pretty empty. Scrambled eggs were fairly standard.. decor tired too. Took a while to get the bill. Hoping it was just an off day though, so will give it a while and head back to try again. It's in a good location with their terrace overlooking the church off the High Street.

A lovely place for an afternoon tipple and a slice of wonderful cake which I can fully recommend! Great atmosphere with friendly staff but a special shout out to Carly who couldn't do enough to welcome me and make sure I had everything o needed for a brilliant visit. Will definitely be coming back!

Food and service is always great.we had the best breakfast this morning on the terrace. Waiting staff were all good and covid friendly. Tables were tidy But on a big downside for me the outside area needs a really good clean cobwebs everywhere literally the ceiling is covered and general tidiness up there benches were also pretty dirty. Didn't really stay downstairs for long. I know it's an outside type area but seriously doesn't look like it's been properly cleaned for years

Had breakfast there everything tasted good except the beans and full English should come with black pudding 😂, service was good would definitely go again.

Had a great breakfast for my grandparents 79th and they felt safe and enjoyed the morning despite covid regulations. Lots of stairs slowed them down a little but food was nice and comfy seating outside.

Really friendly and polite staff with a lovely atmosphere accompanied with delicious coffee and great food!!! I am on a Keto diet but they happily accommodated for me and made me a low carbohydrate breakfast.😋

Sadly they no longer sell Harvey's, which was the main reason for going. Relaxed atmosphere. A good place to meet and chat.

Nice food, like that you can eat outside upstairs on a good day, but on a not so good day lol, nice downstairs.

The terrace out the back is really chill. It's open air with some transparent skylight roofing to shield from the rain. Their service was really kind and helpful. The indoors seemed a bit cramped and dark, hence why we opted for the outside terrace. Their full English breakfast runs up until 2pm and is reasonably priced and very delicious and filling.

All ways love it at cj,s it's,a good team of works and they deliver it well from food to coffee and it's safe

Food is average at best, service is rough and everything is more expensive than it should be. I didn't review it the first time I went in, but now that it's happened a second time I can't help but think it's a repeat offender.

They say they serve "Spanish Food" , but it´s not either similiar to Spanish food. Also, they have the Estrella Galicia Bottled Beer warm.

We went to CJ's on Sunday for a bit of breakfast, we was told to take seat and the waitress said she'll be over to take our order in a minute, 25 minutes later after being blanked we left. We used to go there alot but not anymore.

Coffee Bar that is nicely tucked away in East Grinstead. Has a nice atmosphere and not too busy at the same time. Has a good range of lagers, beers, and spirits with some excellent Gin s available. Definitely coming back when next out in East Grinstead

Completely average, it is in a good location and serves normal drinks. But the food is average, I ordered a steak ciabatta which was effectively a whole thick steak between two slices of ciabatta... Whoever thought that was a good idea is an idiot. The steak was undercooked and chewy and the ciabatta was... Ciabatta.

Cj's is a great place to hang out. We have done a few work events here and they always make it special for us. The rooftop terrace is great for sitting out and answering emails. I would recommend this place to grab a coffee any day.

Nice place but small coffees for the price

We had a really excellent late lunch on Sunday 31st March 2019. The food was really good - my steak and ale pie was a proper slice of what was clearly a 'home cooked' pie - not a frozen one or a disc of pastry put on top of some stewed beef. Others in our party had meat and veggie burgers and a tuna sandwich, and we started with the seafood platter and some tapas. We ordered too much as the portions were large. I really cannot fault the quality of the cooking, and the prices were very reasonable. CJ's is much more than a coffee bar. They even let our dog in.

What can I say, amazing array of breakfasts to suit every taste. Friendly, helpful staff. Good all round menu(strongly recommend the Tapas), vast selection of drinks and cocktails. In the slightly nicer weather, a beautiful upstairs, outside decked, large seating area. Top marks.

Friendly family atmosphere. Pastry's are freshly baked on the premises so great for that mid morning coffee. Food is of a high standard and some food events during the month if you fancy something a little different.

This place look a bit dirty. Maybe because the colour and the floor type. Stye service was good. Dood was OK May be this is just not our type of place we will go for dinner.

Atmosphere is nice. Food is alright, could be better. Staff are always nice. Could be better but it definitely one of the better cafes in the area. Last time I went I had a salad which was basic but good. My girlfriend had a veggie chilly which was very nice. Never been in here in the evening but I here it gets relatively busy and the "older" crowd hangout and drink wine :)
