The Fox And Hounds in Mid Sussex

We absolutely love this place Fox & Hounds Haywards Heath . The food is always good , and the staff and atmosphere is always top class ! They are so efficient and your food comes really quick . We found this place about 6 months ago , it’s our absolute favourite, we visit at least weekly sometimes more . Very good value for money also . They have a reward scheme as well which gives you vouchers and offers . So helpful ! 10/10

A wonderfully friendly atmosphere! Especially Holly, Nick and Tim! Couldn’t do enough for us! And I noticed them going above and beyond for other customers. I would highly recommend this pub!

i love the fox and hounds. the food is great. the drinks are mixed perfectly. the jaeger bombs are my favourite in the area. the staff are lovely i really like the toilets and parking. fittest staff are sophie chloe and dani and chess and everyone is soooo nice. they should have seating in the heat lamp smoking area though. besides that LOVE THIS PUB PLS GO DRINKS AND FOOD ARE SO CHEAP

Had a lovely family Sunday lunch here. Staff were excellent and choice of mains and desserts really good, but did think choice of starters was a bit limited. Only fault I can find though. A lovely pub with excellent staff.

Came for the quiz night on Wednesday and had a great time

Wednesday nights are a buzz with the quiz, fab staff, always look forward to an evening of fun and laughter… and the occasional win.

Lovely place to eat and drink. Great food choices, really tasty! Bar staff chatty and inviting. Have visited several times now and always very pleasant.

Love coming to the Fox either for a quick drink with friends or for a nice lunch with the family. Popped in last week and had a roast which was delicious and we were not waiting long for our food at all! Staff are always jolly and helpful. Will definitely be back soon.

Lovely quick dinner with kids after school, as didn't fancy cooking! Kids love the mini sliders and hubby is a big fan of the mixed grill.

Had a birthday meal booked for this location. Sunday early evening. Had confirmation text to confirm booking was still active two days before. Confirmed again was attending. However upon arrival all roasts, steaks and various other items (effectively 3/4 of the menu) was sold out/unavailable. There should of been a warning via text or call sent by their same automated system. Was asked very quickly what we wanted to order but this was shortly after all guests had arrived and no time to check menu for what remains. Other tables were having food sent back due to being cold/poor quality. Ended up cancelling our booking and leaving. There was no phone calls or automated text messages to warn of this menu change except on the doors upon arrival. (One for allergens being wrong and another saying roasts were out, but not steaks etc as we found out inside). Ultimately might be good on a day when things are going right, but to basically only have burgers and the chips sent back due to being cold etc on a severely reduced menu calls I to question overall quality and control of the restaurant. Unlikely to be trying again.

Not a very good experience . To Begin with there was no roast at all available at 2pm on a Sunday ! I had the large mixed grill which was no different to the normal mixed grill someone else had on my table . Staff were very unhelpful and seemed very aggy one man in particular . No one came to check to see if we were happy with the food and no condiments were offered. Was not asked about wether I wanted to change the chips which you get prompted to do so online and the meat was horrible really did not look normal. A few of us feeling unwell after eating here . Would not recommend .

Cosey pub with very affordable dishes . Went with a big group and everyone got exactly what they ordered without any errors . The staff are very friendly and helpful .We also went back on a Sunday and their roast dinners were delicious. We opted for the beef shank and it fell off the bone and melted in your mouth . Highly recommend this place 👌

Booked a table for 2 . On arrival told not on the listing ! Given table in bar area . You had to go to bar order drinks and food . Not impressed especially being sat by the toilets no table service - very disappointing not sure if I will return

5 of my family went to Fox and Hounds HH today 17 th to celebrate my husbands 90 birthday. The food service was excellent. Will certainly be going again. Would recommend this

Staff were great, place was cozy and warm, nice with the lighting etc. I enjoyed it a lot. The chips were slightly harder than I would have liked but otherwise the food was great. A very good experience thank you

Nice relaxing pub, steak was great

I was very disappointed with the service of staff we had to go and find staff to take our orders, we were not asked how our food was and we had to find staff to pay our bill. The food wasn't very good peas were processed the eggs were oily the Chips were dry and over cooked the chicken was dry and cold and overall it was just bad. I would consider for the future you get better staff in to look after your guests better.

We didn’t book a table, most tables were reserved about 5:30 pm, were given a small high table for 4 people which was a bit cramped. Even after leaving, most of the reserved tables were still vacant! Ordered sharing nachos and halloumi and fries. The nachos arrived, clearly zero skill was used for this, the nachos were straight from a packet, squeezy cheese, some jalapeños from a jar and a tiny bit of guacamole, not enough to taste whether it was from a jar…… tasted ok but very disappointing and could easily improve this if I made this at home. The halloumi tasted quite nice, batter was very light, this was the best part of the dinner. Overall a 2.8 rating based on our experience, would not return

I have to say my food was awful , overpriced and I certainly would never eat there again. Saturday at 7pm no Calamari available, no mac and ribs available, 1 portion off koftes available. Had the mushroom sent them back rock hard who batters the stem separately in a portion, then sharing nachos 9.45 portion size awful for that price . Then the real kick in the teeth surf and turf 19.45 not worth ten pounds on a good day .presentation was awful like there was a team of 5 year old cooking . Portion pathetic and then to top it off the pleasure of paying 68 pounds absolutely disgusting

Great Sunday lunch and good price but steak overdone

Food was dry and overcooked, when I asked for some sauce, I was charged £1 for condiments per person! Staff very unfriendly, overall, gone downhill over the last few months.

We had an excellent time here celebrating a family birthday! The staff are very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and well cooked. Would recommend to anyone wanting a meal that is good value for money

Excellent Service and Food at a good price

For Christmas Day and the amount of people that had to be served, they did very well and the food was good quality.

A nice relaxed, friendly atmosphere and dog friendly! 😊 We hadn't made a reservation (most tables were reserved), however, the staff went out of their way to seat us. We had very good and reasonably priced meals. I would recommend reserving a table beforehand. A most enjoyable first visit for us and we will return!

We love the Fox and Hounds. It's a local, family-friendly and dog friendly pub. It's Ember Inns chain. It has a restaurant part with table service and pub side where you order at the bar. There's a nice, good-sized garden as well and free parking. It's great to pop in just for a drink or to have family/friends gathering. Love it. Thanks.

First time at this Ember inns pub and it's much better than I thought. Large but has cosy tables and quiet. Dogs are welcome in the non restaurant area so you can still have full food service in most of the pub. Food was good(ordered sausage & mash), tasted good but sausages needed to be cooked a bit longer and browned off all round as the half that was not browned off, was quite tough. The crisp onion fries were delicious. Gravy was flavoured well and the mash was smooth. £12.29 for this dish. I did want the chicken & leek pie but this was unavailable as were several other dishes. Cider was good. £5.10 for a pint of Stowford press Ordering was easy with QR code at the table and online payment or you can order at the bar. Staff were friendly and gave service with a smile. As this was a good experience overall, we're thinking about booking our extended family Christmas day dinner here.

Food was speedy, fresh ,hot and delicious. The restaurant was clean and tidy and the tables were clean. We had the chicken and leek pie and sausage and mash. The pie was 10/10, full of filling and lovely pastry. The onion fries with the sausages were a great touch too.

Special and charming hotel with a beautiful estate where you can walk and enjoy. We visited this hotel with a wheelchair. We were able to park directly next to our bedroom, which was great. The (wheelchair accessible) room was also attractive and the beds slept wonderfully. Use of the bathroom (nice shower with grab rails & seat and grab rails at the toilet) is also fine. Breakfast room and restaurant also very wheelchair accessible. What is special and nice is that this hotel has many guests with dogs. The people and dogs are friendly and it doesn't detract from the atmosphere at all. In short, we had very nice days and thank you to the friendly and helpful staff.

Had the rump steak & chips. Asked for medium/ rare steak was burnt and well done. Peas anemic looking, probably from a can not even frozen. Chips & onion fries ok. Very poor food quality. Would have had better fif I’d cooked at home. Service was friendly & efficient. Ember Inns poor quality processed food heated up.

WOW!After a walk in the area we were looking for somewere to eat and after reading a previous review I had to come and try the beef rib Sunday dinner. I was not dissapointed. FANTASTIC! So much I had to complemant the staff on the food and the servaces.

We eat at The Fox And Hounds most days in week , the last 2 visits have been not good at all

Was very disappointing. Had been quite a number of years since I was last in here but it has gone a long way downhill. There was only a single ale on tap which I just cannot believe from an English pub, and it really wasn’t a very good summer ale. The food was just OK, I expected significantly more from a big established pub in a good area. We were a party of 5 and all agree we won’t go here again.

Decent pub grub and a nice place to sit out in the sun, when the weather allows. Burgers are nice but could do with not being served on a dry bun. Have had a few meals here now and everything else has always been fine so haven’t marked down on that basis.

Super meal. Glad the Sunday Duo was available this time. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her beef lunch as well! Drinks were great!

4 of us dining 3 chose ham egg & chips. Informed no ham. 2 then chose fishcakes, very small and overdone. 1 sausage, mash and peas. Did not enjoy. 4th Chicken chips and peas. Chicken tough and overcooked. Puddings were fine. Asked for 2 house wine charged for dearer wine. Would not go again, very disappointing

The food I received tasted fine but was severely overpriced for what it was (and the slapdash way it was presented, see the image). I am so disappointed as this pub used to be a favourite of mine, but the personality and attention to detail has long departed.

Good food, excellent service from the amazing staff who are friendly, restaurant & pub looks nice from the inside and easy to get to by bus. Either take the Route 270 to Rocky Lane then a short walk down the road from the roundabout or take the 271 or 272 Metrobus that directly stops there. Had a peaceful time here and highly recommended. 5 stars and 10 out of 10. 👍👍☺️☺️👌👌

Sunday lunch for 10 people. Superb food. Bone in rib of beef was delicious and vegetables cooked perfectly with crispy roast potatoes. Lovely deserts too, nicely presented. Service was brilliant, very attentive staff, genuine and friendly. Thanks to all for making this family occasion. We all travelled for an hour or so as this place was in ‘in the middle of us all’ . Well worth it and will definitely do it again.

Lovely food . Only problem being door to garden keeps being banged shut when people going in and out to garden. Very loud and extremely annoying.needs to be sorted .

This was a family visit on a Monday evening for a get together meal. There were many items missing from the menu, eg sold out of prawns available to go with the sea bass dish, so I opted for the scampi dish (which was average) but they had sold out of tartare sauce; sold out of potato samosas to go with the chicken tikka masala curry, sold out of the biscoff sundae. Starters of BBQ chicken wings were excellent, two rump steaks were cooked well but lacking in flavour, spicy chicken burger seriously lacked spice. I find it hard to believe that so many items were unavailable on a Monday evening.

I had the sea bass the fish and prawns where amazing, the potatoes and peas where not as good but edible. Lovely, friendly staff and a nice ambience to the place. Reasonably priced, would definitely go here again. X

Staff were great they reserve the table we were selected. Pity about most of the fish items were not on the menu due to running out so we know that Monday is an hour a day to go if you want fish

Food not worth the money at all and cold .the children meal had more chips then the main meal ...no salad with V.burger and chips £12.79 really ...I don't get it !! Under staffed so no time given to look after everyone, waiting time to long ...half the menu was not available. Toilets unclean,soap was just water ...good job we all had a sense of humour.

Food absolute rip off would not eat there again at there prices for poor quality food

Service was poor. Waited at table to order for extended period. Eventually stopped a staff member and asked could we order only to be told have to order at bar. Was not told this. Sunday roast was not a classic roast as expected but a rib (tasty but not the roast I was hoping for). Food delivered quite quickly after ordering but then staff difficulty to attract and did not come near us at all (passing quickly & I was unable to make eye contact t). My guest asked for the fried fish to have no skin. Fish was provided grilled. This was not what my guest wanted and his request was obviously misunderstood (this was also his fault for not explaining properly). He did want to send fish back and request the menu fried fish (just with no skin) but it was simply too difficult to attract the attention of staff. Staff were friendly when we were able to interact with them but this was difficult to achieve (restaurant was not busy and estimate that 50% of tables were not occupied). Friends suggested we do not visit your restaurant as reputation according to them is poor. We had had Sunday lunch at F&H before and was good. However it’s unlikely we would return again. Comments provided with respect and desire not to embellish beyond the factual.

Lovely place and good food, lunch bite sandwich was a bit disappointing but the salad was great! Really tasty. It was a bit on the pricy side but overall good and nice atmosphere, good deco.

We booked a table for 7pm on Monday 4th December, but we're informed by phone that the kitchen was closing early for maintenance and asked to arrive earlier. We arrived at 18:15 instead and ordered our food and drinks upon arrival. Everyone enjoyed their food. My only gripe was my sausages and mash didn't fill me up, so I had to eat a few chips from my wife's plate. I don't think my meal was worth £12. Apart from that, it was an enjoyable experience with good service as always.

Good menu and choice. Staff was not friendly and overcharged for the item not had as i had changed my mind about one item that had been changed. Nice food and good quality. Nice place and busy. Has a loyalty card with discounts.

The veg was lovely and fresh and hot but the vegan burgers were nearly cold - and no one came to ask how the meal was. After finishing our first course, we had such a long wait that we had to go to the bar to order a dessert, and eventually realised the waitress had gone off shift without handing over to anyone. There was no 'sorry for the wait'. It's disappointing because previously we've always had good meals there and the staff have been friendly and helpful. We were relieved there was no music coming through the speakers.
