City Miyama Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

I really wanted to like this place but the fish was terrible. The tuna was off! Seriously, a manky taste and slightly eggy smell. The one thing a sushi restaurant needs to get right… won’t go again.

The restaurant is always popular with Japanese customers, which says all you need to know, even though it is tucked away down a little road just off St Paul's. As a Japanese person myself, the food is very authentic, just like I used to eat at home, and the service is very good.

I spent a lot of time here between 2005 and 2009 (lunch and diner) and was never disappointed. I just came back in July 2019 for a nice evening sushi menu and it is as if nothing had changed. Incredibly high quality sushi diner. Highly recommended!

Years since I've been but still very much the same. Usually have a bento box but opted for the lunchtime £20 3 course. Good tempura, excellent beef in a teriyaki, nice ice cream & good black cod. Soft shell crab sushi still very good. Nice service & good to see they maintained quality after all these years.

Unknow to the toutists it is placed in a little street just next to St. Paul’s Cathedral! You are led diwnstairs into a fairly cozy setting! The staff are dressed very Japaneese like! Rolls were good! Sashimi was goid and they had a very good selection of sake!

Excellent and geniune japanese food. The sushis are delicious and the tempura as well. You can enjoy shabu shabu (japanese specialty) for dinner only. I LOVE IT

Excellent service. My nabeyaki was lovely and came piping hot with loads of yummy items. It was lovely to watch the sushi chef prepping at the sushi bar whilst I enjoyed my soup despite not ordering sushi. Definitely moreish. I am a chef so I can be quite fussy. Found my new lunch stop, thank you.

Soggy tempura, chewy chicken but, above all, service so bad our group thought it weird. The sake and the sashimi were good, when we were finally served - at one point one of our group had to go into the kitchen to find a waiter. But you don't have to cook these. A real disappointment.

Great sushi, clearly popular and helps if you book. A bit on the pricey side for lunch, but given the quality, it's good value.

Everytime I am in London I always return to this place. This is my all time favourite restaurant in town! Although it is not cheap the quality of sushi is absolutely amazing. this place is pretty cosy and the staff will make you feel right at home. I would recommend to reserve a place at the sushi bar or teppanyaki table as the tables downstairs are not as nice and a seat at the sushi bar will make sure you have an authentic japanese experience. Unfortunately my favourite sushi chef that had been there for years has now been replaced by someone new, but I am sure he will do a great job aswell. Looking forward to my next visit to this place!

No excuses. Miyama is always busy and the food is superb. Fresh ingredients and well presented. Very traditional though. The staff work very tense and they don’t make your experience comfortable. Not sure about going back until things improve.

We finished our last meeting at around 630pm near St Paul and walked towards the Grange Hotel. One of my colleagues wanted to eat Japanese and know about Miyama, Its a nice place with a basement dinning area. London is a very cosmopolitan city and its easy to find Asian food, including Jap, Indian and Thai. Can't be eating fish and chips every day:) Spacious and comfortable. I tried the hot soba with seafood with wild vegetables. The seafood was crab meat, some fish roe, some fish cakes and plenty of vegetables. The hot noodle and soup much welcome when the temperature outside on the streets was around 10c.We shared an order of fried bean curd and sashimi. Both the food and service was good, except that one of the wait staff served a beer which we did not order. Taking notes of the various food places within the City. This is location is near St Paul's which is a major tourist landmark. No need to use google map to find this place the next time, if there is an opportunity to be London again in the future...

Authentic Japanese (v difficult to achieve!). Great service. We sat at the bar watching the chef, which is quite cosy but really nice food. My colleague raved about it, and after always being disappointed by Japanese food in London (after eating often in actual Japan), I enjoyed it. Which says a lot! Would definitely return.

You may like Japanese restaurants, so do I, and yet find yourself too often tempted by places which lack authenticity. I love ROKA but it is now a chain (the one on charlotte street is still the best I think), or perhaps you have ventured into the excellent Cubé off Oxford street (actually a tiny place on Bleinheim street) for more authenticity.

If you like sushi that is fresh and full of flavour then this is place to go in the City. Friendly staff, good food, perfect business lunch !

I found this place in a pamphlet of authentic Japanese restaurants in London. It’s mid-range price wise, but you definitely get what you paid for. The sushi is SENSATIONAL.

Food is very expensive, mediocre and the staff are incredibly rude. Thankfully there are much better Japanese options in London.

Simply outstanding. The best tactic is to book to sit at the sushi bar upstairs, and then you can watch the chef prepare your dishes in front of you with fastidious perfection. A splendid range of classic sushi, nigiri and sashimi along with some more adventurous items. Service is prompt. Good range of quality sake but my friend who opted for wine was suitably impressed with that too. It's not cheap, but worth it, and up there with the best I've had in Tokyo.

Sit at the counter! I have previously declared another restaurant in London the best sushi in London. This place has overtaken the other. Since I travel to Japan twice a year, I had given up on good sushi in London. Look no further than Miyama for an affordable sushi lunch.

Unfortunately, we ordered and paid for the miso soup but it was forgotten in our order.

Calamari wasn’t crispy and the chicken gyoza were put in the vegetable soup meaning they were horribly soggy.

Got the wrong order for both orders, but I cba because I was starving. It wasn't even that good. First time ordering, and definitely the last time too.

Desde que mi hijo vivió y trabajó en Tokio un año, tuve la oportunidad de conocer Japón. He llegado a amar la comida japonesa. Mi hijo reservado para el almuerzo para dos Miyama. Cuando llegamos fuimos a la anfitriona un tailspin. Ella apenas podía conseguir que sus palabras. La parte de arriba estaba lleno y nos llevaron abajo que tenía varias diners almorzar. Había muchas mesas vacías adecuada para dos personas. Cuando preguntamos si podíamos comer en el restaurante principal, ella insistía en que nos sentamos en una pequeña habitación fuera de la vista. Desde entonces los que estuvimos bastante olvidado. Finalmente pedir y nos fuimos para la cena de 3 platos. Nuestros platos principales llegó tibia con miso de arroz o no. Esperamos pacientemente y todavía no de arroz o miso. Como nuestro principal estaba frío para luego mi hijo fue a encontrar al camarero para pedir el arroz y miso. Llegó, finalmente. El servicio era muy descuidadas y lento. Cuando fui a hacer uso de las salas de arriba resto pedí hablar con el gerente. Pregunté cuando estábamos escondidos, fuera de la vista, cuando estaban otros clientes que llegaron después nos enseñaron la principal área pública abiertas del restaurante. Me sentí humillado y ofendido profundamente total porque la impresión que tuve fue que no recibieron Diners negro, de ahí el fluster y pusieron fuera de la vista. Mientras yo estaba en Japón cenamos en muchos restaurantes finos. Nunca me he sentí toda hostilidad y yo desde luego no me hicieron sentir inoportunos. Soy una de esas personas que no ven en color (mi marido es blanco y mis hijos son mestizos) y me encanta y abrazar a todo el mundo, estén donde estén en el mundo. Cuando alguien te hace sentir de la manera que sentimos en la ciudad Miyama restaurante no es aceptable. Para dar a la directora su debido, ella se disculpó muy atentamente, sobre la manera en que nos trataron. No volvería allí otra vez. No hay lugar en el Reino Unido eran la experiencia de django jamás justificados. No pinta bien conmigo ni con la cultura japonesa.

Arrived 30mins early excellent taste came with lots of sauce packets friendly service. The fish was very tasty too would recommend.

The delivery came half an hour earlier which was great. Prawn tempura sushi tasted delicious. However, the duck sushi rolls weren't that great. The worst part was they delivered the wrong sushi for my third order. I ordered salmon with cream cheese (most expensive hosomaki) , and got given salmon with cucumber instead.

The driver went to a wrong location and refused to come to the correct one.I have to pay him £5 extra and beg for him to deliver my food!Ridiculous service

The food was good but they must have run out of cucumber as they replaced he cucumber maki with avocado as well as everything else containing cucumber, quite disappointing.

I was a bit scared after reading previous reviews...food was late and cold. I ordered salmon and was not any way to eat it as it was very salty. Food was very oily,cold and the quality was not good. I definetely wont order again

The Gyozas are very nice in this place but the reste is just ok. I tried the duck uramaki and was very disappointed. the prawn urakami was ok and the spring rolls were eatable, even though there was more pastry than vegetable in the roll... Delivery arrived in advance and the food was still hot so good service, but food quality can be improved.

The best sushi in the area! Spicy tuna is my favorite.

My fault for ordering at 1am on a Tuesday I guess... one item missing, noodles leaking everywhere.

They added 20 minutes to the delivery time immediately. The food was okay - though the chicken noodles were not hot. They also did not deliver all of the ordered items (a refund, but not a redelivery, was provided). Unlikely to order again.

There was a mix up in the order where a wrong set of urumaki were given and incorrect set of nigiri instead of the ones ordered

The sushi tasted great, but seemed very expensive for the number of pieces we received. The delivery was incredibly slow as the delivery time was delayed by 20 minutes as soon as we placed the order.

Reasonably good food but arrived pretty lukewarm. The only real let down was the 'Prawn Yaki Udon' which contained possibly the world's smallest prawns, one sugar snap and one small piece of carrot. This was very poor value and pretty poor food.

Delivery was 2am, then changed to 2.20 but only arrived 2.40/2.45 so some was cold. On top of that an item was missing from my order.

I went there last week and as fan of japanese cuisine, I was not disappointed. A word of warning though, they are priced higher than many japanese restaurants in London.Having said that, the food is really good. We had the soft shelled crab and scallops rolls followed by the Teriyaki Seabass Bento.It was very good and I will make this my regular japanese place from now on. There are also a large selection selection of sake, very different from the average sake you get in most places.

sushi was pretty meh. eel was tough and hard. udon tasted weird. Spicy Tuna Gunkan and the soft shell crab temaki was good though!

Also missed a can of coke off the order 😕 not a big deal though, food was all there and delicious, and requests were definitely met 😋 also here early, peak time on a Sunday!!
