It is my go to place when I crave for a bowl of noodle. Always a queue but very swift service. I have never tried anything else but a bowl of beef noodle with extra spicy soup. My colleagues love their sandwiches and bbq bowls and spring rolls as well.

Great place. Note you can order peanut sauce instead of fish sauce.

Cashier attitude: 0 We went to the restaurant for lunch and ordered food 3 DAYS AGO. When we tried to order, we spoke in Vietnamese and the receptionist she looked at us in silence like she did not understand us. After waiting for food, we heard her speaking in Vietnamese with other staff. Thank you very much, never come again.

Again barely any meat in my beef Pho today (only 2 small very thin slices on top of the noodles) and there was no crowd to justify that. I had to go back to the office so couldn't ask for more. Can you tell your staff or have the meat weighted?!! I basically paid £9.25 for broth and noodles, that is scandalous and I know I m not the only one who gets screwed.

Too expensive now. 12 pounds for a pot of soup , almost doubled their prices since 2 years ago.

Used to come for lunch here back in 2012 and was very pleased that it was still here. Their rolls are amazing. Just a bit expensive but the portions are a good size :) I had the classic ‘spring rolls bun’. I didn’t expect the rolls to be fried but was very nice all the same.

City Càphê is my go-to spot for Vietnamese food when I'm in a hurry. Despite the lunchtime rush, the service here is lightning fast. The best part? The food remains consistently delicious and fresh. If you crave a quick, satisfying Vietnamese meal, this place won't disappoint!

Nice Vietnamese food, perfect for lunch, seating is available but not many, about 3-4 small tables but perfect for pick up and go, food is served quickly, filling and not heavy, option of noodles soup, rice boxes and spring rolls, very busy between 12 and 1.

This place is only open for 3 hours a day over the lunchtime period. There is always a queue it's that good. Very little seating, but most take out to eat at their desks. There are a few local spots where you can sit and enjoy your takeaway.

Food is always delicious and it's packed at lunchtime but worth it.

I had the lemongrass Tofu vermicelli salad and I've never had such flavoursome tofu before. Good portions too. I was very satisfied.

This is by far one of my favourite Vietnamese spots. Everything is fresh and delicious making it a perfect lunch spot. There are only a few seats in the cafe itself so it mostly caters for takeaways but that doesn't impact the taste or flavours of the food. Relatively small menu to choose from, but they do everything really well. Personal favourites include the prawn summer rolls, the pho, the bun noodle salads and the bun hue soups. This place is the only thing I miss about working in the city as it's open 11:30am to 3:30pm.

Quick review of a place popular with my uk coworkers. Tried the beef pho, summer rolls, and the pork bun (which strangely translates to noodles and not sandwich). Pho has rich broth and comes with a packet of sprouts, julienne carrots, cilantro, and lime. It really hit the spot on one of those cold rainy London days. Shrimp summer rolls were tasty - fresh and wrapped neatly enough to ensure nothing came out. Most days there’s queue but it moves pretty fast. So great place for a fast fulfilling meal.

Always crowded at lunch time but they are very organized and you will get your order very quick. My fav is the chargrilled pork with the rice, the flavors remind me the ones I have in Asia, I was less fan of the pho but i def recommend the place.

It's all about quick and comforting meals here. Perfect for the winter. Portions not too small. Everything was delicious as it should be. The pho was mild and pretty good. The nems were good as well. Limited seating.

Far too expensive for a lunch now.

Total rip off. Used to be one of my fav places for lunch in the city. Sadly they increased prices massively over the last month. They just give you plenty of rice now hoping to fill you up. This is now what I was expecting from you, major let down!!

I started frequenting city caphe about five years ago when I worked on Gresham street and it was just around the corner. Although I work slightly further away, it is still well worth the journey and I usually get lunch here at least once a week. In my opinion, it has the best pho in London. The other dishes are also delicious but the pho is the star for me. Prices have increased, but prices have increased everywhere and I’m happy to pay the current rates given the quality.

Amazing little place at the heart of the city. It’s a small resturant mostly take away with really nice pho. I went in early and was served immediately but by the time I finished I saw a queue leading all the way outside the shop.

Lovely small Vietnamese restaurant. Mostly people take away their food, but I eat in every time I visit. How they prepare food is impressively efficient, and I normally get my food in 2~3 mins. Considering the price, it has good amount of ingredients are in (e.g. beef in pho).

Love this place, come here all the time. Glad they are back and successful following the nightmare that was Covid. Would have been really bummed if this place also succumbed to the disease. Food is awesome, service is quick, and most importantly it’s not a chain.

I used to come here almost once a week before the pandemic. This place was closed for 2 years in pandemic and I thought it was going to be close for good. Thank god they came back. It’s about twice more expensive compared to 3 years ago but food is always the best in town. Oddly better than any in London. Started to accept credit card for petty amount. I love this place!

Authentic Vietnamese takeaway: I've been often to City Càphê and had the opportunity to try their entire menu over time. The food there is excellent and absolutely true to Vietnamese cuisine. The service is also very quick. Despite that, be prepared to queue in the street at busy times as the place is hugely popular in the City. My sole criticism is that, since the post Covid-lockdowns re-opening, they've removed their fabulous bánh-mì from the menu.

I’ve been visiting City Caphe for lunch takeouts for 5 years now and recently they increased the price with an insane amount…. Other vietnamese places around the area haven’t increased the price this much, even when they have seating and better portions. Below pictures are Betel Leaf Bun and it’s £9.75 - for the quality of food, it’s definitely not worth it anymore.

They have recently hiked the price way above the inflation rate. I understand it's due to the rising cost of living in 2022 et al, but I assume when the inflation rate comes down they probably won't adjust the price down. Feels a bit like opportunist. The food is still same old, i.e. good but nothing fancy. Of course, the portion isn't any larger than before. For the new price, I would be less keen to come back often.

The Chargrilled Pork & Chicken Rice are very nice. And the Pho is awesome too. Keep in mind that the queue is usually massive during lunch hours.

Ordinary Vietnamese food place, similar to Banh Mi Bay and Banh Mi Keu. I couldn't tell these apart based on the food. Has a line at lunchtime, but a less than 10 min wait.

Nice selection of traditional Vietnamese food. Quality is good but a bit pricey. Not an everyday lunch destination but good for a change for sure.

So disappointed by this place. The chicken pho reminds me of sick person's food - absolutely tasteless. I doubt they even put salt in it. The spring rolls have so much oil that could solve the global oil crisis. Plus they are burnt. Also, being in this area with places going pretty much cashless and asking £15 limit on card transactions is unacceptable.

Prawn bun hue was very tasty. Spicy but not overbearing.

Simple food and reasonably healthy.

Used to go here for lunch EVERY day about 10y ago. Baguettes were made with 50:50 rice and wheat flour which made them sublimely tasty, they don't bother anymore so I go elsewhere. Pho very watery as well, not fragrant at all. Shame, used to live this place.

If you're looking for Vietnamese food and you're not bothered that's it's a bit generic then this is the place for you. Nothing really wrong with it, super quick and efficient but lacks authenticity... The vegetarian broth is OK, and rather than cheap carrots I would have expected Asian vegetables or shitake mushrooms. It's perfect for quick lunch in the city, and take the lunch to your desk but not a place where I'd like to go with someone. Not a good place to sit inside so you have to take it out. Saying all that it doesn't cost a fortune so no real complaints.

Amazing but looses a star for no Bahn Mi and expensive.

Beef pho is not authentic. Way too many rice noodles. Complete lack of flavour. Won't be going back

Superb Vietnamese food, so glad it has re-opened. Spring Rolls and Chicken Pho make a wonderful lunch. Don't worry if there is a long queue, it moves quickly.

Brilliant to see this venue open again, absence makes the heart grow fonder and the food is even better than I remember it. The spring rolls are historic.

Shame as so much potential here. Not much option for gluten free and the fresh summer rolls with prawn has the prawn sliced sooooooo thinly you can barely taste amongst the salad and noodles. Probably better with the dip - but sadly they didn’t have one that was Gluten free.

Too bad they fell victim to the pandemic and had to close. It was such a popular place to quickly pick up a good lunch. The lines were long, but you got your turn quickly, as they are experienced with serving many customers. I will miss this place.

Arguably the best Pho you’ll find in London. Fair priced to also morally feed all bankers around.

It's 2020 and they're still insisting on "cash only" and they've seemingly removed themselves from the Ritual food ordering app. Their spring rolls are good though.

Bahn mi rules here. But pho and bun also popular. Very organized in moving people though quickly. Most people do take away. No ambiance sitting on plastic stools eating but quite authentic!

Bueno, la calidad no es lo que solía ser. Los caldos eran ricos antes. Ahora tienen un sabor acuoso. Cobran extra por todo. . . los pequeños paquetes de brotes de soja con lima son 50 p. . . Parece que el condimento es un extra de 50 p cuando la sopa ya tiene un margen alto.

Long term staple but the card limit is mental because it's turned me away several times that would have paid for the overhead. Take cash, no matter how last century that feels.

Their Bun Bo Bue is decent enough, though the noodles aren’t fresh (understandable given we are in London). But they replaced my round noodles (Bun) in Bun Bo Hue with flat noodles (Pho) once and that was not acceptable in my standards. And it tasted just like instant noodles. They could’ve told me they ran out of Bun so I could get something else.

This place has amazing food for takeaway. The soups are some of the best I ever had as far as Asian food goes. I do find the food overpriced although the portions are large. Smaller portions would be nicer :)

Gran pho muy alta mayoría de las veces. Tuve solo una o dos experiencias desagradables (un poco de limpieza de metal: la esponja hundió el fondo de mi sopa hace mucho tiempo y rompió los recipientes), me pospuso por un año, pero aún vuelvo por más porque son realmente muy buenos . El ritual es una gran adición y en su mayoría sin complicaciones.

I LOVE City Caphe! The queue moves very fast and I think they make the best spring rolls I have ever tasted in my life. This was my first time but I will definitely come again. Loved the Spicy Beef Lemongrass Soup. Great Job!

It’s tasty, moderately priced and quick. The pho is nice but the rice bowls are a bit basic. The banh mi is tasty but there are much nicer banh mi’s around. You also can’t pay with card under £15 which is a bit ridiculous. The place gets so busy and there’s not a lot of room to wait. Often enough people don’t listen to the numbers which are called out so it’s a bit long.

Delicious and authentic and nice to go somewhere with a fair portion for once. Will be coming back here.

Me encanta la comida vietnamita y estaba muy emocionado de probar City Caphe con mi amigo para el almuerzo. Es un pequeño restaurante sencillo que está bien, ya que muchos buenos restaurantes están escondidos de las calles principales. Si bien el pho y el bollo eran aceptables (no es sorprendente en absoluto), lo que más me decepcionó y me sorprendió fue que cobran por brotes de soja adicionales (literalmente solo le dan una pequeña bolsa con cierre de cremallera con 8 brotes de soja), y lo más inquietante fue que cobran por la salsa picante de sriracha! 30 p por 1 recipiente pequeño para salsa picante. En toda mi vida, he comido en muchos restaurantes vietnamitas / asiáticos de todo el mundo y nunca me han cobrado por salsa picante. Especialmente la salsa picante de sriracha que la mayoría argumentaría es parte de la experiencia de pho noodle. Es una pena que sean tan mezquinos con condimentos mezquinos como habría vuelto de otra manera.

Super busy at 12pm is a tiny place with few seating, 3 round table middle shop can seat 2 or 3 small people. And about 5 seats against wall and 5 seats against window. Not ideal if you have lots of bags or big jacket. Tasty pho soup base authentic. Be lucky to get a seat. Lots of choices. Going to try the bahn mi next time.

Went here for lunch today with my wife (on a rainy day) and we had the Banh MI (Viet chicken and chargrilled pork). Both were excellent! Bun was fresh, chicken and pork were cooked perfectly and vegetables were fresh. Nice cozy place as well with some seating, was easy to get a seat as most people seem to take away. Will definitely be back to try the pho.

Dissappointed although this place is good. I ordered Veg spring rolls, no problems, tasty, handmade but lack of choice, only prawn and pork spring rolls or veg rolls, which is not good for people like me that hate seafood. The bo bun is not genuine, the real Viet bun has glass noodles, salad, crispy onions, a marinated and stir fried meat, sometimes some soja beans, seeds and cashews and spring rolls. In the bun I've got from here there is no meat, you have to choose between spring rolls or meat, which is not the real Viet food. Also they take cash only and bank card over 15 £, one exception because the cashier took my card for my order under this amount but it's very annoying to have to withdraw cash every time for this shop.

Tasty but you'll get thirsty....

Great lunch place for anyone working in the city. Must trys include spicy beef noodle soup and grilled pork vermicelli salad. Try order online to avoid the long queues.
