City Barge in Richmond upon Thames

Very good food and serve all day. We popped in for a light lunch and had a fabulous view of the river with the tide rising.

Our favorite Sunday Roast - Great service, great atmosphere, and of course, great food! Thank you !

We had a wonderful celebration lunch in The Harrowden Room to celebrate my partner's 40th birthday. Everything was perfect - the service, food, atmosphere and gorgeous view of the river (the sun gods were on our side). Just a perfect afternoon. The team were so helpful both during the booking/organising process and on the day (even with a really busy pub downstairs), and were really relaxed on how long we used the room for. It meant that the football fans were able to watch the FA Cup match on the screen in the room later on. Huge thanks and we will certainly be back!

My husband and I had top notch service from the ‘big cheese’, Eweline. She was attentive, knowledgeable about her bar and superb with her service. We will definitely be coming back. You give Greene King a good name.

This pub in Chiswick is one of the best in London. Great location next to the river, nice indoors too, great food. Very nice atmosphere

when arrived very noisy loud wih kids running and screaming and shouting later they left. In an afternoon on Saturday which we tried to be earlier and had called to see if can go even earlier we were told quiet but that is ok. Service great but each staff seemed mostly in such rush but last one asked if all ok. many thanks. Food compared to price is too high but that is most pubs. At least they have different and more food on the menu. Portions quite small especially sea bass but tastes great.

Nice food and beautiful location but £75 for two Sunday roasts with fizzy water and an orange juice and lemonade seems way too much. A side of cauliflower cheese was £7.50, I think. Sadly I didn't notice when ordering. The bill was a shock. Everything was nice - ambience, food etc. Shame about the pricing.

One of my favourite pubs in Chiswick. Great atmosphere and food! During my last visit, I had the fish pie and the cauliflower soup, as well as a glass of orange wine. My companion had fish and chips. We paid a total of 60 pounds.

Super service and lovely meals (the chorizo in the fish dish was very overcooked) but everything else tasted lovely. Spoiled by the fact that a staff member had parked her car in the middle blocking everyone in, so could get my car out of the car park and spent ages asking everyone if it was their car. Very inconsiderate.

25 minutes from sitting down to being offered water. Food marginally a notch up from a Gatwick airport Wetherspoons but at twice the price. Kids from a private party at the back allowed to run around the eating area barging onto our table and knocking wine over for 45 minutes (it was 9pm)

Nice enough pub. Visited for first time pre Brentford football match. Service was fine, a bit pricey but I suppose it is on the River....

Ate here with a family member for lunch today, I've been in the UK for the past month and the meal here was by far the best I've had during my stay. We both had the roasted squash and chick pea salad, one with the optional chicken. STUNNING DISH. (Why oh why didn't I take a photo of it before devouring it in all its deliciousness). Congratulations kitchen team at the City Barge I will be telling everyone I come across to eat here, absolutely stellar work. In fact I'm going to see if I can find a photo of it online to see if I can recreate it when I get back home to Sunny Queensland. I will definitely be back next time I'm over visiting family, and have already recommended my brother and family give your place a go. Good onyas and thank you.

Initial greeting was a bit offhand, but service thereafter was fantastic and food was really impressive with a good variety of veg included and well seasoned gravy/sauce. Roast portions were very large - we were glad we didnt order starters. We felt it was good value. We would definitely return.

Excellent service from Mark. A lively and friendly atmosphere. Plenty of room on our table in the bar area. Really good quality cheese and bacon burger and not overly expensive. Good reports from others for the flat iron steak and the sea bass. Great selection of beers and other drinks. A proper community pub with a prime spot on the river. Highly recommended.

We changed our reservation three times and every time we’re met with quick efficient positive responses. On the night Mike the manager went above and beyond to give us a really special evening. They were super busy but everything was fast and good. The food was delicious I had the Kiev and big portions to boot. Go there now! It’s superb. Thanks Mike.

The City Barge, on the river to the east of Oliver's Island is a historical (nee 14th century) pub on the south side of Chiswick. Multi levelled and multi layered, a pub in some parts and a restaurant in others. Clean, tidy and very welcoming. Great service and a great selection of beers. 3 casks on today but pumps for 7, waiting for busy times. An old pub with a modern, sympathetic makeover. The Harrowden, upstairs is a wonderful 'private' dining room with superb views of the river and Oliver's Island. Great place.

Estábamos tan contentos con nuestra elección de lugar (casi elegido con un alfiler) - lugar encantador, el personal era muy amable y eficiente, nada era demasiado problema. Todos acordamos que la comida era excelentemente buena, y lo mejor de todo (para un amante del postre) era la gloria ruibarbo knickerbocker! La barcaza de la ciudad sin duda estará en nuestro camino - para enumerar ahora. Gracias a todos por un viaje memorable - juntos.

Had Sunday lunch at the City Barge with family and our Australian visitor on her last day - it was brilliant - could not have asked for better (except next time we will ask for gravy in a jug to pout INTO the yummy Yorkshires) Highly recommend

The city barge is a lovely pub with great food unfortunately let down by the service. Half an hour we waited before our drinks were bought over with a food order being taken before they arrived. We had also ordered some tap water for the table which never arrived. Once we ordered, and food arrived (in a timely fashion) we then went up to the bar to order drinks as no check back on our food had arrived with no additional drinks order. We had ordered a side of cauliflower cheese which never arrived and we needed up cancelling it as we had nearly finished our meals. Patricia, the lady serving us, attitude had completely changed once we had asked about drinks and the side order, it was quite unpleasant which was a shame as this was a special birthday occasion. We love this pub and the food really was delicious, hot and arrived in good time but this experience let us down and I don’t think we will be returning sadly. We never remove service charge but did on this occasion which I think was fair.

The Fish and Chips were outstanding—fresh, perfectly cooked fish with a crisp, golden exterior and flaky inside. The chips were fresh, crispy outside, soft inside, and paired perfectly with tasty dips. A fantastic meal overall, highly recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a Sunday Roast, and I must say the experience exceeded my expectations. The food was not only fresh and perfectly seasoned, but also beautifully presented. The roast was tender, the vegetables were cooked just right, and the gravy added a rich depth of flavor to every bite. You can tell that a lot of care goes into preparing each dish. I’ll definitely be coming back with my family to enjoy it again soon! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a classic and well-executed Sunday meal.

Great bar service even though one of us had a strong opinion about a certain wine. Food was good except that they ruined perfectly good mushy peas by putting mint in there but that's personal choice as I have been brought up with northern roots. Also the curry sauce with the fish and chips is not chip shop curry sauce just so you are aware.

This is my second time at the city barge and this was a fantastic meal, I was hesitant to try to tiger prawn and monkfish curry but I’m so glad I did. It was really fantastic and the flavours were really just right. My compliments to the chef again I highly recommend the city barge lovely ambience live sound particularly really great food and service thank you.

The pub setting is very nice. We were seated comfortably. The fish and chips arrived very quickly after ordering. The batter looked very light in colour however, it was crisp and cooked. The taste was disappointing. The curry sauce accompanying was tasteless. Other dishes might have been a better choice.

Regular customers. Food always fresh and delicious. Service quietly professional and personal. Full of families and mixed age groups. Football on TV is discrete. Great ambience next to the Thames. Tim a great manager.

Not what it used to be, lowering my 5 stars to 2-3. Great for fish and chips and drinks. Other dishes like steak don't get cooked as requested (too much or too little). Sticky toffee pudding is no longer a winner either. Great atmosphere and great beer selection, with nice views at sunset.

Food was delicious, and the service very good, fabulous ambiance, they didn't rush me. The fish and chips were on a visit to England in late September 2023. The lamb was from a visit to England in late June to July. Everything was so fabulous I just had to go back again. I hope to go back to the City Barge next visit and have the Sunday roast and also have a walk along the beautiful waterfront.

Excellent experience. Went for a Sunday Roast and not just the service was great, the food was delicious! I highly recommend the Veggie one, the nut Wellington is to die for! Great value! a hidden gem overlooking the river in gorgeous Chiswick. Lovely, just lovely!

Stopped here for dinner after a very pleasant walk along the river. All our food was lovely , sea bass, fish and chips, cheese burger and chicken Kiev. Pleasant efficient staff. Very dog friendly. Lovely to sit and watch the river on a beautiful evening.Very enjoyable first visit to the area

I love this place but the service and food need to be better. We came at lunchtime on Sunday. The menus all had food stains. The food was okay-ish but not great and the service was similar. A desire by the staff to make this place the best pub in Chiswick would make all the difference.

Couldn’t recommend this place and Mark enough! We will definitely go back.

Food and the service were excellent. The menu had a good selection as was the wine choices. The pub itself is a great venue with views over the river.

Unfriendly and took a while to be served despite being the only person at the bar. Also served a frothy pint, quite a lot under a full pint

Not like our usual visits at all. Understaffed in kitchen and table service as everything was slow and mostly miserable/hassled. The chicken Kiev must have been bought in as it was unattractive and dry. Very disappointing that the good weather appears to have caught them unawares. The Swan is now far superior and our new ‘go-to’.

I recently dined with friends and had an exceptional experience. The dishes were absolutely delicious and of high quality. It had been a long time since we had enjoyed such exquisite cuisine. The chef has an excellent sense of taste. Nothing was overly salted, and everything was perfectly seasoned. We were all thoroughly impressed. We give it five stars. We highly recommend it and will definitely be returning.

Pubs that only take payment by card should have this writ LARGE on their door and on their menus! Why wait until it comes to time to pay the bill to say "I'm sorry, we only take payment by card"? Well I'm sorry, I only make payment by cash. I understand the benefits of only taking card payments but they should make this clear before they take orders otherwise it leads to an embarrassing experience at the end of an otherwise pleasant afternoon. For this sole reason I will never return and I will never recommend.

Cosy little pub, great view of the Thames out the front and another seating area in the back, with a really good amount of weekly events. Good selection of ales, ciders, and spirits too.

Guests of a local friend. Lovely setting back and front with tables in the late afternoon sunshine near the entrance. Riverside table was a perfect spot to view eights and the tube line running west over a character bridge. Could be on a mooring. Food okay But why put sage into a pomme anna. It's such a strong herb so bound to incur a reaction.

Good roast dinner with my 3 boys on Father’s Day. A bit pricey at £35 for the set menu for 2 courses but kind of expected given the day.

Food is amazing esp the Fish & Chips + Sticky Toffee Pudding! Except the Raspberry Tiramisu was unfortunately not good. Service could be improved. The waitresses rarely made eye contact so it was hard to get their attention.

Been going to this pub ( on and off ) for many years. As a Beatles fan this pub is significant to me because the Beatles came here in 1965 to film scene's here for their Help! movie. When they re released Help! on DVD we held a party here to celebrate that event and we invited actor Victor Spinetti ( he appeared in virtually all the Beatles films) to come to our party. And he did. So yes I do love this pub
