Cozy and well-kept place with an open oven, an authentic gem in the heart of Portobello, we were pleasantly impressed by the quality of the pizza, perfectly cooked and very generously seasoned, I had a very good sausage and friarelli, better than many pizzas eaten in Italy, don't miss it 'Great coffee that's hard to find in London. 10+

Great pizzeria in a nice area, I can't complain at all!!

The pizzas deserve 5 stars, however this restaurant is let down by the service. We booked for 7 people on a Friday evening, but when we got there the manager (Sebastian I believe) told us he didn’t have a record of the booking. We offered to show him proof of the phone call but he refused to look and kept telling us that we hadn’t made a booking. I completely understand mistakes happen, and it wasn’t an issue as there were plenty of open tables. But he kept accusing us and making it seem like a massive favour to arrange a table, which is pretty poor behaviour from someone who works in the service industry. In addition, there was only one waiter serving the upstairs section and he spent half the night downstairs and wasn’t familiar with the menu so several orders were incorrect. If the service gets corrected, I’d happily visit again for the food.

Don’t order this on Deliveroo. They make mistakes constantly. Good pizza though.

The food was actually good, but sadly the service didn't match. The waiter mistakenly brought two pizzas to the table when we only ordered one. We corrected him, he understood his mistake and apologised. However our bill still included the extra pizza, and I paid the bill without analysing the receipt properly. I realised the next day that we had been overcharged. I went to request a refund but was faced with a rude and accusational attitude from their staff, saying that without a receipt I cannot get a refund, and they refused to ask the waiter that had served us and made the mistake, and they would not check the CCTV even though I gave them the specific time of the transaction. I've never been treated so badly after spending near £100 on a meal for two, especially considering the mistake was completely there's. The same staff member was incredibly lovely to the white man that came before me, leading me to feel that his treatment was potentially racially charged. I did enjoy the food, but sadly some of the staff do not know anything about customer service.

Waited over an hour. Not worth the wait. When you keep having to get up and ask the waiters why a 3min pizza is taking longer than it takes to get to Rome… it gets beyond frustrating… and insulting when they hand you a bill with service charge. Totally inept business. The pizzas… ok… just ok.

Is a disgrace to find out that a great place is completely ruined. I’ve received the Romagnola that is always more smaller and and not reflecting at all the Napolitan techniques. If I compare with the photos I see online seems to be a pizza frozen from the supermarket. Paying a pizza 20 pounds I expect much better.

We spent a Sunday lunch in this Italian restaurant for a pizza and we were completely satisfied. We ordered a Bosco and Capricciosa pizzas and everything was so delicious and ingredients really Italian and fresh. The owner Sebastian was so kind and it take 2 minutes to explain about origin of ingredients and restaurant. We are Italians so we had high expectations and were completely satisfied. We recommend it and for sure for next trip in London we will come back again!

Don’t bother with delivery or takeaway. Waited an hour and a half for my pizzas to be made because they were ‘too busy’. Decided to continue with my order as I had raved about how great the romagnola pizza was to my friends who were round that night. Almost two hours later only 2 margarita pizzas arrive because ‘they were too busy to make the others’. If you are too busy to make deliveries don’t accept them. To then only receive a partial refund from Uber which did not cover the food not delivered. Avoid!

We needed to feel the quality of Italian food after 7 days in London, and here we found it from the excellent Italian pizza and espresso coffee. Absolutely low price. We highly recommend

The food is good, but at this price? We were seated in a narrow aisle where I literally sat in the middle of the aisle. But it wasn't the biggest problem, the food was ok, not much seasoned, the prices were high but bearable, but when I paid, somehow the waiter covered the terminal so that I couldn't see how much it was and somehow I paid 69 out of 55 pounds????? I'm sorry but how? How is it possible that the service was included in the price of £55, which is a bit of an exaggeration. I will never go there again

Very nice pizza but the service was very poor. The waiter was not informed of the menu and he was not able to answer any of our questions..he asked for assistance from another member of the staff for anything we asked or kindly requested. When one of the dishes we ordered was wrong, another member of the team started to speak Italian to us and didn’t make any sense.. I’m sure you can do it better guys..

The pizza was amazing, the attention very friendly, I recommended vegetarian option(Sicilian and Margherita) the apple juice and peach juice it was very good.

The food was really good and tasty. Prices were fine according to UK general situation. But when it comes to the service level I would very gently say just dramatic. 1st we relieved a wrong dish for one friend. 2nd after the first dish we were waiting for at least 15’ for the next one, so one person was eating and we were watching. We asked for a pizza cutter and we got a dirty one. Speed of service was equal to the speed of „replay” at a football match.

We have kinda small appetite so we ordered one pizza, one starter, green salad. The pizza was amazing, really chewy and taste dough, fresh tomato paste, such a really nice cheese. I’ll say the pizza is the best thing I’ve ever tried in London!! Also the staff were really kind and amazing!! I’ll go this restaurant again If I go Portobello market! High recommend!!

It is a pity that the quality of the pizza went down sooo much. We go there very often and there is no consistency in the pizza quality. Sometimes is good sometimes is terrible. The pizza we had 2 days ago was done by a waiter not a pizzaiolo and it was clearly undercooked and the mozzarella not melted at all. A disaster to be honest. Having a good pizza there is like playing the Russian roulette and hoping your pizza is made by the professional pizza guy and not by a waiter or junior guy

I came with my girlfriend. Although the place was super busy, I am happy to praise Stefano for his professionalism and outstanding service. Also, great tiramisu!

Food was really good, it was delicious. The environment was really nice, it was a warm place and great music in the background. Staff was attentive and nice all time and helpful giving us advice. Great place, highly recommended.

Cinquecento is way better than your average pizza shop. Authentic Neapolitan, our pizza with bursting burrata was sensational. The doughy, burnt crust was chewy, and just as I have found in Da Michele or Sorbillo in Napoli. Salad was delightfully fresh, whilst service was prompt and friendly. Great place to chillax and take a break from the hectic portobello vibe.

A fine example of Italian cuisine. The pizzas and lasagna are excellent. The ambiance in the private room makes the dining experience very enjoyable.

we ordered a pizza…. it was BOMBASTIC the dough? soft. the sauce? bodacious. the cheese? beautiful. and then we made the best decision of our lives and ordered the tiramisu. THIS IS CRIMINALLY GOOD. WHO NEEDS DEPRESSION MEDS WHEN U CAN HAVE THIS TIRAMISU. it was LOVELY. (the portion was kinda small i need more of this tiramisu). The prices were alright too.

A second visit after the most hectic experience/ poor service, however my boyfriend really liked the pizza and wanted to give it another go. Needless to say, service was shocking again - gentleman serving us was serving us in a stop and go manner - more interested in settling up empty tables rather than paying attention to customers. Other customers were also complaining about the service/ not receiving drinks/ dishes, which eventually led to quite an aggressive exchange between him and a guest. This time pizza was also disappointing- same pizza ordered, yet different toppings and how it was prepared. Vastly different overall to our first visit. To top it off - I barely found a WC shortly after after leaving and spent my day with a case of food poisoning. Wouldn’t recommend the chicken salad!

Absolutely fantastic fresh pizza. I was very Impressed with it. I was a little down as I wanted more variety for the pasta dishes as I heard it was fresh pasta too. The pasta flavours just weren't inspiring to me. I will deffo be coming back for the amazing pizza though

After the long and inevitable walk along Portobello Road I accidentally found the Cinquecento pizzeria at the end of the road. Intrigued by the place, I entered and immediately appreciated the courteous and friendly welcome. I ate an excellent Neapolitan pizza made to perfection, as well as the "montanara" pizza made with fresh, quality ingredients that guarantee a product that many try to make but few do. as they have been able to do since the sixteenth century. Compliments.

I had a delightful dinner at Cinquecento Portobello restaurant. The service was impeccable; the manager, Caetano, managed to get us a table for 6 even though we didn't have a reservation and he was extremely kind and friendly throughout. He accommodated us very well. The waitress who served us was also super friendly. The food and atmosphere are very good and cosy too. Worth checking it out!

I ate here on Saturday night and was disgusted to hear two employees discussing the fact that Jewish people are not allowed to eat here! My salad was ok, but I was alarmed by what I heard. Is it really true that the manager does not allow Jewish people to eat here?!? That seems VERY racist in 21st century Britain. I demand to hear clarification from the manager on why Jews are not allowed to eat here immediately!!! I must speak to the manager promptly. As I have not heard from the manager, I will be looking at contacting the local MP. I may consult local bodies monitoring anti-semitism, and I may even resort to social media!

Way better than other pizzerias. As an Italian and a restaurants expert in my view 500 is way better than any other pizza place in London. Having recently moved to Portobello, on Easter Sunday I went with six friends and family to the local 500 where on all counts I found the same quality of their Notting Hill Gate branch that was my favorite London Pizzeria when I lived there. This shows that the 500 pizzerias are consistent in products quality, service and atmosphere. I ordered a classic Margherita that was as good as any pizza that I have had in Italy. Not in the least rubbery, chewy and extra thin or thick as most other London pizzerias serve, I’m afraid. It was just perfect. All the others were equally satisfied with their choice. One of us had a lasagna that according to him who is a well know chef and unusual for a pizzeria, was as delicious as the one that he makes. The place is small but cozy with a warm Italian country style interior that straightaway makes one feel at home. On entering we were welcomed in typical friendly Italian style by their likeable manageress who with her staff attended us admirably. For dessert I had a delicious panna cotta covered with raspberry coulis, while all the others were happy with their choice. For wine e had a Sauvignon Blanc plus a glass of red for one of one of us, and surprising for me they also serve a very tasty Sicilian orangeade that I didn’t know. Prices were adequate and affordable for a place located in one of the busiest touristic areas in London where rents are spiralling high. If I have to put a tiny criticism is that they didn’t have decaffeinated coffee that evening. This said their coffee was of the finest possible quality. I feel very lucky to have found this lovely pizzeria next to where I live. As, out of gratefulness, I always mention the names of the staff of the restaurants where I go who serve me well, I wish to thank the manageress Natasha, her assistant Federica and all the rest including the pizzaiolos who did their best to give to us a memorable pizza experience definitely worth repeating Full kudos to 500, a one hundred per cent genuine Italian Pizzerias. Not much to report except…seriously just one of the best pizza in London!

Originally came across this place by chance. We are now regulars when we are staying up the road in Maida Vale. My wife doesn't love pizza generally, but she does love what comes out of the oven here. Delicious food, cosy atmosphere, reasonable price for the area.

So, Pizza, an easy takeaway right? Wrong, with so many poor, over cheesy, low quality pizza impersonations out there, I have almost totally stopped ordering it as a takeout – despite loving it. The problem is, getting something truly Italian, tasty and of quality is just not easy. Sure, Franco Manca is good, but I find the sour dough is just a touch too sour – especially when it comes to eating any leftovers cold the next day. The number of supposedly proper Italian pizzas out there that cover their bland, “wooden” bases with cheap, over processed toppings and literally drown them to death in yellow stuff purporting to be cheese (which by the way is more American pizza, no self respecting Italian would go near them!), finding Cinquecento in Portobello Road has been a breath of fresh air. Wonderful, light, fluffy and superbly tasty dough, the perfect amount and quality of toppings, excellent home made pastas, honestly, how has it taken me so long to find you! Add to that exceptional customer service (and when I say its exceptional I mean it, take, for example, my Uber delivery managing to lose a pizza en-route and simply offering to remove it from the bill leaving half my party going hungry – no, Natascia at the restaurant wasn’t having it – she kindly resent the whole order so it arrived piping hot, in a taxi at their own cost AND added a free Tiramisu – despite the issue not being with them but the delivery driver – you won’t get that at many places!). So, if you are feeling the need for that hit of the Italian good stuff, give this place a try – truly fantastic!

Visited the Portobello rd branch on Friday night at 6.30pm for a farewell dinner with a colleague, just the two of us. Firstly the food & service was fine, just as you'd expect from any of these types of pizza places (pizza express etc). Cost was as you'd expect from the main chains as was the food, it was ok. BUT... we were looking for a quiet chat, a couple of pizzas and a relaxing evening, however... They were literally BLASTING out dance music so loud that we couldn't even hear each other in this intimate setting.... we felt like we were in a nightclub at 2am. We asked for it to be turned down, which it was but only a fraction. If I wanted high decibel club music I'd go to a club... it was completely out of place and quite frankly ruined the evening. Therefore I won't be returning.

We were a big group of 16 and the service was exceptional thanks to Natascia and the team! Amazing experience, food and service!

Best Pizza in London. Did so many different places in London but this is the best one … and to be honest I know about pizza. The location is great. Who doesn’t like Portobello Road ? Friendly and professional staff 100% positive experience . They are also dog friendly and this means a lot 🖤 thank you !

Totally scammed my group of 26 tonight. We made a booking in advance and negotiated with the GM who didn't even come to work today. The staff from the start were trying to drive up the bill by pouring teenagers expensive bottled water without asking us. Never offered tap. Next they started serving pasta, some people got full bowls, some half bowls and wait for this...then some people got side plates of pasta. When I asked the servers they said they didn't have enough bowls so they were serving small plates. The portions were 2x for one than the other. After I called them out, they laughed as if they were caught and then brought out the proper servings. My pasta was raw. Literally uncooked. I pointed it out and one server said "yea, they're prob cooking too fast". The pizza's were well cooked for what it's worth. 900 euro bill almost for a group of kids, tiny portions, poor quality, servers trying to drive up the service fee. I even asked the server, why didn't you offer tap water before you opened all these expensive waters. She laughed and shrugged. Then it got weird, they added open charges on the bill and a giant service fee that was not discussed in our agreed upon price. The manager was laughing the whole time, scammed us good. Don't go here, they could care less about the customer.

A mirage for us Neapolitans in the middle of the Portobello road market. The formidable pizza, it feels like being in Naples. Compliments to the managers also for the look of the place, crazy.

This restaurant has really become my favourite restaurant! I’ve been multiple times and always find the most warming atmosphere, amazing staff and delicious food (the tiramisu is to die for!), and I bring friends of family everytime I have the opportunity! I’ve probably tried everything on the menu and never been disappointed, even the pizzas remind me of my Neapolitan grandmother…highly recommend!!!

Amazing place! Very friendly staff members especially the manager Natasha, has been extremly helpful to choose the best options in the menu. I am very happy with my choice as I have gluten free intolerance and she reassured me about all the ingredients the pizza was made of.

Tonight we came here for the second time and for the second time we are very happy. The food is incredibly good, montanara is just wow and the gnocchi piccanti amazing. Natasha suggest to have tortino as dessert and was great. Excellent service and the team is great. Natascia is amazing, very professional and friendly!! See you soon!

We have been at Cinquecento Portobello for the second time last week! Food always great and the pizza it's a proper Napolitan. The first time we were not impressed by the service, Saturday we received a warm welcome and superb service framed by a great sense of humor which has made our evening! Natasha it's a grest host which is not easy to find nowdays. Thank you! Highly recommended!

I had my birthday dinner here with 16 people and it was amazing! Natasha was lovely and even put some of our music requests on the speakers. Thank you so much, definitely recommend for a birthday event!
