Agatha went the extra mile to make sure my food restrictions were accommodated and was absolutely lovely. Special thanks to her and the chef! Food was good and interior was also beautiful, will definitely be visiting again.

A hidden gem in Chancery Lane. Imaginative, satisfying cuisine that works with the natural flavours of the foods used; soothing, intimate ambiance and excellent service.

The place is pleasant, bright and nicely decorated. The food is not as French as the restaurant’s name would imply, but it is fine and prepared with attention. It is a Mediterranean cuisine but it lacks a bit of creativity. The mood is a bit spoiled by the attitude of the staff: polite and doing their job, but they seem sad and under pressure.

Wonderful evening spent with our daughter celebrating her birthday, food, staff and ambience excellent.

There were 2 set menus over lunch; we opted for the smaller one. On a table of 4 we all had different mains and everyone was very satisfied with their choices and quality of food. Service was efficient and polite. The wine options were all delicious. Overall, a really really good lunching experience for a business meeting. Thank you.

Very pleasant. As often is the case with posh French food, portions could be better but it was delicious.

Wonderful evening in our favourite restaurant in town. Every month they do a test menu night, with wine pairing and a great sommelier who tells you about the wines and why they chose to pair each one with the food. Exceptional food, wine and service - Maya was an absolute delight - what more can you ask for?

I brought a friend from Japan for dinner at Cigalon, and we had a wonderful experience. The restaurant manager was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. We had a great chat about travel, especially about her home in Portland. The dinner was delicious, and the warm hospitality made it even better. Highly recommend!

Recently visited Cigalon after booking through the Fork. Food was really good and the desserts were even better! Refreshing and light to end off the evening.

It was lovely, the service was spectacular the Ecuadorian waitresses made my dinner special. Didn’t know what to order and all their suggestions were tasty. I will definitely come back!

Great place for dining a few minutes walk from the Aldwich theatres area. Perfect ambient for a quiet date or business meeting. Excellent French themed food and wine selection. Their tasting menu portions are perfectly sized and you leave feeling good rest after their amazing dessert. Fully recommend.

It was a really good overall experience here that I would definitely come again. Would recommend it to anyone needing a nice atmospheric date night :)

First of all, as a French restaurant I found it surprising to have very dry complimentary bread, and we need to pay extra if we want to have a few additional slides. As we were 3 people and having 4 slices provided, it felt like we needed to divide, instead of freely enjoying it. The pork was very dry and without flavour, Hake was floating in weird watery sauce, seriously lacking consistency. The pasta with artichokes, did not understand why to add anchovies as it mixed all the flavours In addition, all meat options were only pork , which is a bit upsetting as pork is a very specific meat. The highlight was the roasted potatoes and the desert. In general, as it was a special occasion it was a bit disappointing and I do wish for this restaurant to improve the menu and if bread is provided free to keep providing it free and not paying 3.5 additional cost, plus having a few more meat options , not just one selection.

We really appreciated the tasty food, that the noise level was low so you can easily chat, and that the seats were comfy. A really unrushed and cosy experience - difficult to find in London.

Beautifully designed place. Some dishes were giving either 10/10 or 3/10 taste. The bass dish - vegetables around tasted that were re-cooked, or deep frozen for a few times. Braised Oxcheek en Gelée superb! Rigatoni Pasta, Spicy Brocoli & Kalamata Olives - lovely creamy sauce! Rich desserts! The staff were very professional and the manager, apologies for forgetting the name was on top of her gave when the table had small bill issue. Next time will come to try different dishes to create a full experience , however this time I left confused.

A warm friendly welcome in a very pleasant atmosphere. The set Menu is very reasonably priced, with a good selection of starters, main courses, deserts. and a comprehensive wine list. I was celebrating mine and my Brothers birthday and must say it was a superb lunch. The staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome. The quality of the food was exceptionable.

The restaurant looks stylish from the moment you walk in, the staff was friendly and helpful The starter looked very nice, but a little on the small size (a white fish with grape fruit) But the main course made up for the starter size l had the meat special they had on , beef with a very nice jus and a carrot and celeriac purée We ordered 3 sides which was plenty. The dessert was nicely presented and tasty so all in all was very nice We also ordered a rosé bottle of of wine which l think was a good price , it went down very well, The other wines did go up and up in price We did go on an offer that the restaurant was doing 50% of all the food which was Very good value

Outstanding setting in a lovely part of London. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the tasting experience menu with wine pairing. The service was fantastic and paced well to ensure we had time to finish our food and drinks before send the next. Well worth it.

Returned to Cigalon, this time for lunch on a Friday. Sadly we were the only diners and it seems that people are really missing out here. The three course menu at £42.50 is terrific value in this day and age and flavours, textures and presentation all really good. The wine list has always been good value and with some wines discounted you can enjoy great things without breaking the bank. Service from Agata was wonderful and we can't wait to go back.

I can't find the best adjectives to say how wonderful this place is. The food is delicious and I can't forget to mention the service team in perfect harmony with the super refined atmosphere. My choices were the Risotto with the Fish of the Day prepared perfectly and what an explosion of flavors. To top it all off, I dived into the dessert menu and had to try 3 of them (1-Cheese of the Day, 2-Strawberries, Sable Breton & Vanilla Cream and 3-Frozen Rasperry Vacherin), I can't define the best one you need to try all of them! I will certainly be back to try the other dishes. Thank you Cigalon team!!!

I enjoyed a recent dinner at Cigalon. It was great, right from the start to the end. Our meal began with the oxcheek and risotto; both dishes were rich in flavour and taste. Our choice for the main course was the fish of the day, recommended by the chef and it was cooked to perfection— truly succulent. I must draw attention to the frozen: its creaminess was divine, with a merengue center that simply melted in my mouth. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill and passion. An authentic taste of France, right in the heart of Provençal cuisine. I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

The steak was not good at all, too tough. The dessert was good but so tiny. The white asparagus was delicious. The ham hock was salty. The lamb was quite tasty and the best was the side roasted potatoes.

Quiet and quaint place in the heart of the City. It’s great for a business meeting or a date. Beautiful decor and the service was top notch. The food was good but we had to send lamb dish back for a little more cooking, as it was a bit too chewy. The fish was excellent but even with a starter and dessert I didn’t feel completely full.

We had the 5 course tasting menu for a mid-week celebration dinner. Good range of flavours and textures with southern French themes. Excellent wine list.

We came here for dinner for the 3 course menu for £42. Overall it wasn't bad but it also wasn't amazing. Between the three of us, we decided to get a different dish each to share. For the starters we had the asparagus and leeks (ok), cured trout (nice) and the braised cuttlefish (very little cuttlefish). For the mains, we had fish of the day (fish was dry and the bisque flavour didn't work for me), leg of lamb (lamb was dry and underseasoned) and meat of the day which was pork (not bad but it wasn't hot and also lacked salt). The best thing was the roasted new potatoes where we ended up getting two servings. For dessert, I enjoyed the passion fruit frozen vacherin (tasted like solero) but the poached rhubarb and strawberries sable breton were just ok. The service was polite but not overly attentive.

It’s a nice environment and the staff are very friendly but the food was quite average, not at the same level I was expecting given the quality of the resturant and the staff. Also took 30 minutes to get the bill after asking even though it wasn’t too busy. That being said the expertise was definitely good overall but the food was a bit of a disappointment

I found this place on the fork app, so managed to get a discount. It does cost more than average, however the food tastes really nice, which makes it stand out so I would go again. Staff were friendly too

A really good feel to this restaurant as we weee welcomed by friendly and professional staff members. A light airy space in which to eat very tasty and well presented food. The wine list offered some lovely options to enjoy the wines of the South of France. Our fist visit, and it most certainly will not be our last!

We enjoyed the high ceilings of the dining room as well as it's layout, which allowed for privacy. The food was tasty, fresh and seasonal - classic with a twist and nicely executed.

Tried the five course taster menu, it was interesting. I didn't like the pigs head, but that's down to personal taste, but glad I tried it. The bavette was very nice.

This latest meal excellent - Feb 14 2024. Food really well done! Wines good by the glass. Only service was a tad sketchy BUT they knocked off the cost of a course - 2 eating 3 paying for 2. Excellent to do that. AND the lactose intolerance was perfectly accommodated this time. ______________________________________ TIME BEFORE In the past we have had good food, wine and times at Cigalon, as we do when we are at the Smithfield HQ. There is usually a bustling crowd, and the events - such as curated wine tastings - are good. Recently we decided to celebrate my wife's birthday there. I'd taken care the forewarn the restaurant about her lactose intolerance. I’ve done this in the past and the chef has provided beautifully.  I'd also specified some petits fours for a birthday 'last dish'. The tasting menu struggled to avoid lactose. Normally that would mean that the kitchen had considered and could make available some alternatives. Not in this case – courses and parts of courses just had to be skipped by the guest of honour. The coup de grâce was the lactose-laden petits fours served at the end, with coffee. There was nothing on the plate my wife was advised she could safely eat, even though it had been put together specifically for her – when fruit jellies and lactose-free chocolates are very available. Expensive overall, and lack of attention to key detail was sloppy IMHO. Mostly young, inexperienced, staff who didn’t really seem to care about our poor experience. Disappointed, I am afraid.

We visited Cigalon for a Valentine's night dinner in their private dining room. The main dining room is fairly large while the private dining room is small and intimate. The valentine set menu is European cuisine. The food was fairly good however we found that the Ribeye was not the best quality however the Rabbit leg and the Hake mains were very good.

Another excellent meal at Cigalon. We always visit when we are in London and are never disappointed.

What a great evening we had in Cigalon. The food was delicious, the decor lovely and the service was excellent all round, but particularly from Shaniqua who was just the right mix of friendly and professional. A cocktail and a game of pétanque downstairs in Baranis made it a perfect evening.

A fantastic experience. We went on a Friday night and it was very quiet. Having specified on the booking that it was for a birthday we received a lovely birthday dessert plate wth the dessert and the crémant we had ordered was also on the house. We had the 5 course tasting menu with paired wines which was delicious and excellent value. Service was excellent; altogether a wonderful evening at Cigalon.

Cold food, average service and a steep price

We went for dinner in the evening, and the restaurant was very quiet -nearly desert. Which was nice but lacked a bit of atmosphere. Overall a decent experience, not the cheapeast place given the food.

I really wanted to love this restaurant, but it fell short on a few aspects: food and service. The first course started out strong with a delicious small soup. The second course was alright (the tripe). The crisps on top were a bit soggy. I was hoping for a sharper contrast between the tripe and the crisps. My favorite course was the trout. It was by far my favorite dish of the night. It was soft, but the skin was cooked perfectly crisp. I wish I just had 4 courses of this plus the starter. We also got the ratatouille as a side. It was alright, nothing special. The next course was a cheese course. I personally did not like the cheese they chose. My husband thought it was nice, so this course really depended on your cheese preference. Finally, we had the chocolate molleux. The texture was very odd. It was a bit spongy and the chocolate was really thick. We were expecting the cake and chocolate to be softer. Aside from food, I was surprised that the servers didn't automatically explain each wine we had with our tasting. We had to ask them each time what wine we received. Atmosphere was also a highlight. We got to sit in one of the giant booths that definitely could fit at least 4 people. We were facing the kitchen, so it was nice to see the chefs at work. The only down side is the chefs kept turning on and off a light near us. Overall, this was decent for the price. We came on the first Tuesday of the month where they trialed their new set menu. I probably wouldn't come back except to trial their next menu.

The Cigalon is a great french restaurant with a warmth atmosphere and a tasty menu for everyone: meat, veggie, fish. Perfect for lunch or dinner in a quiet and not loud place. Large enough for long tables (we were 25 for a work dinner) with a fully dedicated staff.

My partner and I both got the 5 course set menu and quite enjoyed them. I personally thought that all the food could use a bit more seasoning to really make the flavors sing. The bayleaf ice cream was really something!!! And the olive tapenade at the beginning was deeeeelicious. Our waiter was also really nice! I am a chronic hater of wine and she recommended something she thought I would like anyway and let me try it before committing to have it - and I actually liked it! Very nice of her and lovely to have a type of wine I know I like!

Nestled in the City this gem is hidden but worth discovering . The service is impeccable and the ambience quiet and allowing friends to catch up. The food is adventurous and I can vouch for the cocktails . Will be heading back soo.

We hosted a dinner here for an office event. Delicious, authentic food, exquisite and well presented. perfectly balanced, interesting menu and attentive staff. Would recommend this venue for both business lunch or dinner.

It was really nice overall - the food was tasty but the beef was chewy and hard to cut even with a steak knife. Perhaps other dishes would be a better choice but I would return.

Cigalon never disappoints — and it must be the best value, high end restaurant in London.

We found our evening with the special Provencal taster menu to be very disappointing: whilst the three courses were well-presented and tasty, there was very little on the plate. We certainly needed the extra bonus plate of petit fours that they kindly brought along as we had flagged up we were marking a birthday. The restaurant was busy, early evening, and service was prompt (too prompt really, all over within one hour); the real problem was the indifferent service: the young women staff didn't engage in any way with their customers, not referencing any of the dishes or checking how we had found them, just plonking them down in front of us one after another. Overall this did not feel like good value for £67 a head.

Part of the Club Gascon empire, situated towards the bottom of Chancery Lane, the restaurant was pretty full for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We had the "Test Drive" four course menu with paired wine representing good value at £60.00. Dishes were all good, tasty, nicely presented good quality meals without setting the world alight but most enjoyable. Quite good wine pairings and the main list is well thought out and good value considering the location. Staff were efficient and friendly without being over engaging. Would we go back, certainly.

Provence is an area of France that makes the heart sing. Its cuisine has found perfect expression in this lovely restaurant that is part of the Club Gascon collection. It’s delightfully rustic with flavours shining through. Great wine list too - our gutsy Corsican red complemented the Toulouse sausage starter and lamb main perfectly. Prices reasonable. Service attentive and courteous. A really lovely dinner😀

The 5 course with 4 wines pairing was delicious. We would have loved for the portions to be slightly bigger as the food was fab. Céline and her team did a great job setting everything up nicely for a large group of us.

One of the best value tasting menus with wine pairings on offer. Interesting, creative, quality food. A real find!

Starting from the beginning: no one at the reception to welcome people. Food was simply ok, nothing “wow!”. We had 5 courses tasting menu with wines. The best dish was the lamb tongue. Pasta extremely over cooked and plenty of pepper! We couldn’t eat it! Service was extremely poor and slow even if the restaurant wasn’t busy!None of the floor staff was able to explain the menu and the wine too. At the end we decided to do not pay the gratuity and no one even asked why. Seams a lack of not caring and not what to improve understanding what’s wrong from the customer’s point of view. During all dinner no one asked “how is it going? How is the food? Is everything ok?”…. Literally nobody care! Once we left was exactly the same, no one said “goodbye “at least. If I think of what we paid I feel even stupid!!!

Last night' special food and wine pairing menu at Cigalon was absolutely stunning. Each of the five courses was utterly delicious and beautifully presented. The wine chosen to go with each course was perfect. The service was above and beyond excellent. Celine, Mariana and their team in the restaurant are charming and knowledgeable about the food and wine. It was great to have a cocktail downstairs in Baranis with Led and his team before going upstairs for the dinner. The attention to detail for people with dietary requirements is exemplary. It is also extremely good value for money. Well done to everyone and thanks for making it such a wonderful evening.

I work around the corner. I went about five years ago with my significant other. Until tonight, I’d not been since because we encountered the front runner in the annual ‘round-Britain rudest waitress competition. Tonight, all change: staff - lovely, meal - really good, atmosphere - very relaxed. Great!

I came here on a work Xmas meal, the food and wine was delicious and staff were very helpful! Throughout the lead up to the event, Celine was very responsive and helpful when organising the food we wanted and flexible with dates and guests! Would definitely come back again!

We hosted our Christmas party at Cigalon and it was a huge success. We had drinks first at Baranis followed by a 3 courses meal at the restaurant. Superb service and organisation. Everyone enjoyed the evening. The food was amazing.

A very "pleasant" experience (an unhurried lunch) without being particularly memorable. Reasonable food. An ok but not a long or very interesting wine list. Brisk, polite and efficient but not particularly welcoming service. Food is very easonably priced for the area, as ismost of the wine list although the £56 we paid for what turned out to be a modest Sancerre was a tad steep. Hence the four stars, throughout. Ask for a banquette table if privacy matters, although the ranks of tables are not crammed in.

We did the tasting menu here and were not that impressed. The food was fine, if not a little overpriced for what it was. However, the service here is AWFUL and the waitstaff ignored us and were not helpful at all. For £50pp I excepted a bit better.

Delicious, well cooked food (you can watch the chef expertly ply his craft at lightening speed) at reasonable prices for London, informative and friendly staff, interesting interior. Well worth going to. Hope to return on our next visit to London.

Lunch with an important client who is fond of French cuisine. Very pleasant surroundings, staff were attentive if not very knowledgeable and speed of service was good. My client thought the food delicious; trout carpaccio, baked hake, lavender blackberries then cheese (£9 for half a slice of bread and one slice of cheese). For me the tastiest was easily the dessert but all the food was good if not full of flavour - perhaps not the best choice for strong flavours. No complaints and we were treated to a coffee on the house. Thank you!
