I found this place on the fork app, so managed to get a discount. It does cost more than average, however the food tastes really nice, which makes it stand out so I would go again. Staff were friendly too

Tried the five course taster menu, it was interesting. I didn't like the pigs head, but that's down to personal taste, but glad I tried it. The bavette was very nice.

We visited Cigalon for a Valentine's night dinner in their private dining room. The main dining room is fairly large while the private dining room is small and intimate. The valentine set menu is European cuisine. The food was fairly good however we found that the Ribeye was not the best quality however the Rabbit leg and the Hake mains were very good.

This latest meal excellent - Feb 14 2024. Food really well done! Wines good by the glass. Only service was a tad sketchy BUT they knocked off the cost of a course - 2 eating 3 paying for 2. Excellent to do that. AND the lactose intolerance was perfectly accommodated this time. ______________________________________ TIME BEFORE In the past we have had good food, wine and times at Cigalon, as we do when we are at the Smithfield HQ. There is usually a bustling crowd, and the events - such as curated wine tastings - are good. Recently we decided to celebrate my wife's birthday there. I'd taken care the forewarn the restaurant about her lactose intolerance. I’ve done this in the past and the chef has provided beautifully.  I'd also specified some petits fours for a birthday 'last dish'. The tasting menu struggled to avoid lactose. Normally that would mean that the kitchen had considered and could make available some alternatives. Not in this case – courses and parts of courses just had to be skipped by the guest of honour. The coup de grâce was the lactose-laden petits fours served at the end, with coffee. There was nothing on the plate my wife was advised she could safely eat, even though it had been put together specifically for her – when fruit jellies and lactose-free chocolates are very available. Expensive overall, and lack of attention to key detail was sloppy IMHO. Mostly young, inexperienced, staff who didn’t really seem to care about our poor experience. Disappointed, I am afraid.

Another excellent meal at Cigalon. We always visit when we are in London and are never disappointed.

What a great evening we had in Cigalon. The food was delicious, the decor lovely and the service was excellent all round, but particularly from Shaniqua who was just the right mix of friendly and professional. A cocktail and a game of pétanque downstairs in Baranis made it a perfect evening.

A fantastic experience. We went on a Friday night and it was very quiet. Having specified on the booking that it was for a birthday we received a lovely birthday dessert plate wth the dessert and the crémant we had ordered was also on the house. We had the 5 course tasting menu with paired wines which was delicious and excellent value. Service was excellent; altogether a wonderful evening at Cigalon.

Cold food, average service and a steep price

We went for dinner in the evening, and the restaurant was very quiet -nearly desert. Which was nice but lacked a bit of atmosphere. Overall a decent experience, not the cheapeast place given the food.

I really wanted to love this restaurant, but it fell short on a few aspects: food and service. The first course started out strong with a delicious small soup. The second course was alright (the tripe). The crisps on top were a bit soggy. I was hoping for a sharper contrast between the tripe and the crisps. My favorite course was the trout. It was by far my favorite dish of the night. It was soft, but the skin was cooked perfectly crisp. I wish I just had 4 courses of this plus the starter. We also got the ratatouille as a side. It was alright, nothing special. The next course was a cheese course. I personally did not like the cheese they chose. My husband thought it was nice, so this course really depended on your cheese preference. Finally, we had the chocolate molleux. The texture was very odd. It was a bit spongy and the chocolate was really thick. We were expecting the cake and chocolate to be softer. Aside from food, I was surprised that the servers didn't automatically explain each wine we had with our tasting. We had to ask them each time what wine we received. Atmosphere was also a highlight. We got to sit in one of the giant booths that definitely could fit at least 4 people. We were facing the kitchen, so it was nice to see the chefs at work. The only down side is the chefs kept turning on and off a light near us. Overall, this was decent for the price. We came on the first Tuesday of the month where they trialed their new set menu. I probably wouldn't come back except to trial their next menu.

The Cigalon is a great french restaurant with a warmth atmosphere and a tasty menu for everyone: meat, veggie, fish. Perfect for lunch or dinner in a quiet and not loud place. Large enough for long tables (we were 25 for a work dinner) with a fully dedicated staff.

My partner and I both got the 5 course set menu and quite enjoyed them. I personally thought that all the food could use a bit more seasoning to really make the flavors sing. The bayleaf ice cream was really something!!! And the olive tapenade at the beginning was deeeeelicious. Our waiter was also really nice! I am a chronic hater of wine and she recommended something she thought I would like anyway and let me try it before committing to have it - and I actually liked it! Very nice of her and lovely to have a type of wine I know I like!

Nestled in the City this gem is hidden but worth discovering . The service is impeccable and the ambience quiet and allowing friends to catch up. The food is adventurous and I can vouch for the cocktails . Will be heading back soo.

Bit disappointed for a test drive. Found the food overall blend and service could be improved. What is the point of having a test drive if nobody asks you for your opinion.

Enjoyed a relatively simple but delicious Provençal tasting menu at Cigalon, lifted by friendly, discreet service and a delightful setting. The wine pairings were lovely too, particularly a multilayered rosé.

We hosted a dinner here for an office event. Delicious, authentic food, exquisite and well presented. perfectly balanced, interesting menu and attentive staff. Would recommend this venue for both business lunch or dinner.

It was really nice overall - the food was tasty but the beef was chewy and hard to cut even with a steak knife. Perhaps other dishes would be a better choice but I would return.

Cigalon never disappoints — and it must be the best value, high end restaurant in London.

We found our evening with the special Provencal taster menu to be very disappointing: whilst the three courses were well-presented and tasty, there was very little on the plate. We certainly needed the extra bonus plate of petit fours that they kindly brought along as we had flagged up we were marking a birthday. The restaurant was busy, early evening, and service was prompt (too prompt really, all over within one hour); the real problem was the indifferent service: the young women staff didn't engage in any way with their customers, not referencing any of the dishes or checking how we had found them, just plonking them down in front of us one after another. Overall this did not feel like good value for £67 a head.

Part of the Club Gascon empire, situated towards the bottom of Chancery Lane, the restaurant was pretty full for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We had the "Test Drive" four course menu with paired wine representing good value at £60.00. Dishes were all good, tasty, nicely presented good quality meals without setting the world alight but most enjoyable. Quite good wine pairings and the main list is well thought out and good value considering the location. Staff were efficient and friendly without being over engaging. Would we go back, certainly.

Provence is an area of France that makes the heart sing. Its cuisine has found perfect expression in this lovely restaurant that is part of the Club Gascon collection. It’s delightfully rustic with flavours shining through. Great wine list too - our gutsy Corsican red complemented the Toulouse sausage starter and lamb main perfectly. Prices reasonable. Service attentive and courteous. A really lovely dinner😀

The 5 course with 4 wines pairing was delicious. We would have loved for the portions to be slightly bigger as the food was fab. Céline and her team did a great job setting everything up nicely for a large group of us.

Starting from the beginning: no one at the reception to welcome people. Food was simply ok, nothing “wow!”. We had 5 courses tasting menu with wines. The best dish was the lamb tongue. Pasta extremely over cooked and plenty of pepper! We couldn’t eat it! Service was extremely poor and slow even if the restaurant wasn’t busy!None of the floor staff was able to explain the menu and the wine too. At the end we decided to do not pay the gratuity and no one even asked why. Seams a lack of not caring and not what to improve understanding what’s wrong from the customer’s point of view. During all dinner no one asked “how is it going? How is the food? Is everything ok?”…. Literally nobody care! Once we left was exactly the same, no one said “goodbye “at least. If I think of what we paid I feel even stupid!!!

Poor quality food - empty restaurant on a Friday lunchtime only one other table was occupied through the whole lunch period. Wine list was average. Menu was limited and the food quality was nothing like the reviews given. The only good thing was the staff who were friendly

Last night' special food and wine pairing menu at Cigalon was absolutely stunning. Each of the five courses was utterly delicious and beautifully presented. The wine chosen to go with each course was perfect. The service was above and beyond excellent. Celine, Mariana and their team in the restaurant are charming and knowledgeable about the food and wine. It was great to have a cocktail downstairs in Baranis with Led and his team before going upstairs for the dinner. The attention to detail for people with dietary requirements is exemplary. It is also extremely good value for money. Well done to everyone and thanks for making it such a wonderful evening.

I work around the corner. I went about five years ago with my significant other. Until tonight, I’d not been since because we encountered the front runner in the annual ‘round-Britain rudest waitress competition. Tonight, all change: staff - lovely, meal - really good, atmosphere - very relaxed. Great!

I came here on a work Xmas meal, the food and wine was delicious and staff were very helpful! Throughout the lead up to the event, Celine was very responsive and helpful when organising the food we wanted and flexible with dates and guests! Would definitely come back again!

We hosted our Christmas party at Cigalon and it was a huge success. We had drinks first at Baranis followed by a 3 courses meal at the restaurant. Superb service and organisation. Everyone enjoyed the evening. The food was amazing.

A very "pleasant" experience (an unhurried lunch) without being particularly memorable. Reasonable food. An ok but not a long or very interesting wine list. Brisk, polite and efficient but not particularly welcoming service. Food is very easonably priced for the area, as ismost of the wine list although the £56 we paid for what turned out to be a modest Sancerre was a tad steep. Hence the four stars, throughout. Ask for a banquette table if privacy matters, although the ranks of tables are not crammed in.

We did the tasting menu here and were not that impressed. The food was fine, if not a little overpriced for what it was. However, the service here is AWFUL and the waitstaff ignored us and were not helpful at all. For £50pp I excepted a bit better.

Delicious, well cooked food (you can watch the chef expertly ply his craft at lightening speed) at reasonable prices for London, informative and friendly staff, interesting interior. Well worth going to. Hope to return on our next visit to London.

Lunch with an important client who is fond of French cuisine. Very pleasant surroundings, staff were attentive if not very knowledgeable and speed of service was good. My client thought the food delicious; trout carpaccio, baked hake, lavender blackberries then cheese (£9 for half a slice of bread and one slice of cheese). For me the tastiest was easily the dessert but all the food was good if not full of flavour - perhaps not the best choice for strong flavours. No complaints and we were treated to a coffee on the house. Thank you!

Went there on a Friday night as I saw the special offer. Place was very busy, we sat at the round table by the kitchen. Great atmosphere, the waitresses are all nice and never felt rush. All the food was very tasty and well presented....

The five-course test drive menu at Cigalon is amazing value. The flavours in each dish are so interesting. Ingredients are combined in an innovative and harmonious way. Each dish is presented like a work of art. The accompanying wine works perfectly. The service is exceptional....

Arrived around 2 hours before closing time and was told that the chef decided to close early. This is not the proper way to treat customers.

I found it v hard to find a restaurant in London 9n a Wednesday lunchtime. Welcome good.. Space is small and was cold. Husband birthday his starter off tasting menu very bland. IT lacked attention to detail we loved their other restaurant Club Gascon. Wine...

I gave two stars for the environment and the service. However, I’m an individual who prefers savory French cuisine and somehow, I think this restaurant’s dishes don’t match with my palate and preferences. I spent over two and a half hour for two mains and a dessert. Overall, if you’d like to have a nice meal for a nice conversation with a decent price and a cute ambience, perhaps this’ll be it for you.

A nice enough resturant but I felt it was a bit expensive for what it was Smallish portions which lacked passion. The risotto was excellent.

Splendid dinner with outstanding paired English bubbly. Refreshing scallop sushi with apple, sumptuous turbot with cauliflower, (chabichou, extra with an additional glass of Hambledon NV) ending with a brioche pain perdu with a cranberry compote - a gesture to American Thanksgiving?

Service and food quality were as pleasing as ever. Very busy and so we enjoyed when the business lunchtime rush had passed.

The food was excellent, the restaurant far too quiet - but that is as a result of its being a Friday when many people now WFH and it relies very much on the office trade.

We had not been to Cigalon for some time, but thought we would go as we were in the area. What a revelation! They do a menu (£29 for three courses) and a 'tasting menu' (£35 for five courses). We went for the five course menu and there was plenty of food at excellent quality. The wine list was also very reasonable which surprised us. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly and the decor in the restaurant very swish! The whole experience of the food, wine, staff and decor would have been twice the price in many restaurants. Do go there as you will be impressed and not disappointed in the slightest. We will definitely go back and will bring our friends as the value for money for this level of restaurant was unbelievable.

Our son booked this restaurant on the basis of a reasonably priced table d'hote menu and that the bar below had a French boules "pit". Atmosphere, service and food all delicious. Could not fault it. Staff were friendly and attentive all food was beautifully cooked...

I was bowled over by the level of this restaurant! In quiet Chancery Lane lies an enthralling little French Provencale restaurant and everything we had was excellent, tasty and sophisticated yet still simple. Even the non-alcoholic cocktail I had before our three meals was interesting....

Last minute booking went very well here, the restaurant was immaculate in appearance, and the dining experience even better! We opted for a 5 course tasting menu which is set and I’d say very competitively priced considering cheese + desserts are included as well. Service...

Nuestro grupo era un trabajo grande y ocupaba casi la mitad del restaurante en dos mesas largas. La decoración era muy elegante, a juego con la comida y el servicio. Los servidores lograron lidiar con un grupo tan grande de manera muy eficiente, aunque aparte de nuestro grupo, el lugar estuvo casi vacío durante toda la noche del miércoles. La comida también era deliciosa: tuve el veloute de coco, lubina con puré de coliflor y un pastel de chocolate sin harina con sorbete de frambuesa. En general, lo recomendaría encarecidamente, tanto para grupos grandes como pequeños.

5 of us went for the bookatable deal of 3 courses plus cocktail for £20.excellent value , 3 choices of each course. The duck with salsify and juniper sauce and flourless chocolate cake were both gorgeous. portions not huge but like michelin restaurants , sufficient without being a blow out.thoroughly recommend. location right next to the law society so not great for the tube but perfect for the bus back to waterloo.

Totally amazing 3 course dining experience. I had cured salmon and citrus, in which the depth of curing could be increased. However, lamb was perfect, I gave it 5 star. Pudding was fine

I picked Cigalon out of a restaurant guide just to try somewhere different - it was first rate!It's a comparatively small restaurant, but seems bigger with a nice airy atrium. Staff were knowledgeable and relaxed; but wholly professional. Our lunch - off the set menu - was first class; and the staff were tolerant of the fact that we were not restricted by a 'lunch hour' from work. So why four stars out of five? only that the menu was pretty limited - but much better to do a small range really well (which they certainly did) than a large range in more haphazard fashion. A very pleasant lunch and occasion - thank you.
