Sofra - Mayfair in City of London, Westminster

We walked in on a busy Friday evening after looking for dinner near our hotel. Lucky for us, they just had a table without wait. The restaurant was very busy, and for good reason. Not only they have very friendly and attentive wait staff, the food is absolutely delicious. The menu had different types of food, but, of course, we picked form the Turkish dishes (and Turkish beer). Everything we ordered was amazing. Lamb tagine slow cooked to perfection, outstanding Hünkar Beğendi, and everything else was just excellent. We also appreciated the fast service, despite the restaurant being completely full. Overall, great value, amazing food.

Stumbled upon this restaurant in Mayfair during our trip to London this april, we didn’t have a reservation, but the waiter found a table for us and provided amazing service. All food was delicious, and Turkish red wine was also a pleasant experience.

After exploring numerous dining establishments across London, I can confidently say that no other restaurant surpasses the excellence found at this particular establishment. Fantastic restaurant

Stopped by and made a reservation as the restaurant looked nice (although I had been walking all day and the person taking my booking gave me an "up and down" look as if to check whether I could afford it or not). Anyway went back at the allotted time and was sat on a nice table amongst other diners already eating. Menu good and easily picked our respective dishes. The neighbouring tables were not too friendly as I assume lots of them are rich locals. Food very good and staff very attentive. Wine a bit pricey for my liking but then it is Mayfair. A short walk from the Hilton so really handy for us and saved a trudge into the West End for dinner.

I went to the restaurant and there were two Turkish men and one of them I think was the manager. They were talking about the Arabs and insulting us in their language, thinking that I did not understand their language. I was disappointed. I did not do anything. I wanted to eat and be treated like this!!

Strongly recommend. Cost - great value for money, especially given location. Personally recommend the mixed grill and houmous to share and baklava to share for desert. Wine list is also very approachable. Service - impeccable, staff are patient, attentive, fast to react when needed, and always smiling. Other - lots of table covers makes it ideal for walk ins if you haven't reserved. Natural light is a plus and all the windows onto the heart of shepherds market makes it great for taking in the atmosphere of the area

Stumbled upon this Turkish restaurant in Mayfair, and it turned out to be a pleasant experience for a single-night stay. Everything was delicious, and the hummus as an appetizer was simply fantastic. A great find in Mayfair—I truly enjoyed it!

The best Turkish food in london

If you’re in the mood for authentic Turkish food, I highly recommend ‘Sofra.’ We tried various meze options and the vegetarian moussaka paired with Turkish red wine🍷Despite visiting on a Sunday evening, the restaurant was busier than anticipated, resulting in a bit of a wait for our initial orders, but it was worth it. All the dishes were beautifully presented, and the service was exceptionally polite. Looking forward to going back with my friends soon:)

They were friendly, brought us hummus and bread straight away and were very attentive to us throughout our meal, though I never received the water i asked for. However the food was subpar, the menu is a giant sheet thats falling apart and needs replacing. The pide was not actually pide but a flatbread with some toppings. Additionally the meat portions were very small and contained a lot of fat. It had an unusual texture and I was left feeling dissatisfied and queasy. When ordering dessert I was surprised that this “Turkish” restaurant did not have the staple of dessert of baklava and when I ordered the Kunafah it was microwaved, not fresh and no clotted cream was given despite stating so on the menu. It was very dry and tasted very unpleasant. Overall while the service was good, the questionable food and subpar quality means it’s very unlikely I will ever eat here again

The worst service ever experienced in over 50 years.While seated one of the staff managers were screaming constantly.When we placed the order we waited more than 15 minutes while other tables arrived after had their food served.When the food arrived 2 were missing items and one was wrong.We asked the waiter 3 times before the missing items arrived by which time we had nearly finished the meal. When the bill was presented we asked for the service charge (opitional) to be removed as both the service and attention had been poor.The manager/owner was so rude and direct we then said he was going to charge for the complimentary bread!! I lost it.He should not be in the industry and I am escalating the matter to the westminsiter council as he was fooling people I am not a tourist as many where I live here.

I don’t know London that well, but I came here for dinner with a client of mine. The food was wonderful and perfectly cooked. Reminded me of the holidays I have had in Turkey. The staff were very attentive. The atmosphere is cosy. The menu prices were very reasonable given its location in London. Highly recommend and will visit again, but this time with my wife.

The staff and restaurant are most welcoming in an idyllic location. The food was excellent and well priced with a choice of wines that catered for most methinks. One has frequented this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. One comment being, it is best to book by telephone rather than via their website. 🙂

A very cosy and beautiful small gem in Shepherd Market area serving delicious Turkish food. Very convenient location close to Green Park Station and Berkeley Sqaurw /Mount Street. We ordered carryout/takeaway from Sofra one evening while we were staying in Mayfair next to Shepherd Market. We got several of the small dishes to sample a few different things, and everything -- including even the flatbread -- was outstanding. The grilled lamb on hummus and the succulent grilled prawns were standouts. The order was beautifully packaged, ready quickly, and very reasonably priced. Friendly, helpful staff. Definitely give them a try!

Sofra never disappoints - we lived in London years ago and return at least twice a year. And we nearly always work in a swing to Shepherds Market and a meal at Sofra. Delicious food, very efficient and attentive service, reasonably priced. And the inexpensive Turkish red on the wine list is terrific. Highly recommended.

We are lucky to have friends recommend this restaurant and also luck to meet Tan working in Sofia introducing dishes for us.. All we ordered were beyond our expectations. It is enjoyable to have dinner here during the sunny June evening.

Walked down the street and luckily did not need a reservation to squeeze in for an early dinner (6:00). We had buffalo mozzarella salad, tzatziki, okra, Scottish filet, and grilled Salmon. All of our meals were excellent! Service was good atmosphere fantastic. Highly recommend.

This was a visit for a small group of us after a busy business day in London. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the service was faultless. When we arrived the restaurant was busy and so we thought the the service may be slow, it wasn't. The longest wait was for us to decide what to eat. The staff were willing to answer any questions that you may have and even showed you pictures to confirm visually what they were describing. For starter we picked a number of small plates to share (Octopus, Calamari, Chorizo etc) and for the main course picked our own dishes. Everything came out together, was hot, well presented and I would say just the right portion size. I had the Lamb Tagine and while it was different to what I had had before, it was cooked to perfection and I enjoyed every morsel. Others enjoyed the Spicy Pots of Ground Lamb and Beef, and Fish and the Kabsa. While most were too full for dessert, thre of us had the Su Muhallebesi, Baklava and a cheesecake. Overall we left happy, unhurried and satisfied that we'd had good food without breaking our credit card.

I used to work near the shapered Market. Went to the restaurant many times. Came with my 2 year old son and my family . We were told the only table available is the one outside I said there are many tables available and I have a 2 years old child can't sit outside in a chilly night .the guy didn't even try . I was told that's it. Actually I felt that the message is that you are not posh enough to sit inside

Our larger group showed up without a reservation, and the staff were so accommodating. They gave a great deal of personal attention, personality and amusement. The mixed grill was so flavorful and tender. Highly recommend! Everyone was pleased with their meal. Such a charming area!

I had three dinners at Sofra and each was delicious! The service was wonderful with both a very attentive Maitre D' as well as the wait staff. The restaurant is open on Sunday which is not the case for most restaurants in Shepherd's Market, so I was delighted to be able to enjoy my last dinner in London there!
