Good choice of beer on tap but shocked when the food arrived at the tiny portion size for the price… the sharer dish for 2 should have been listed as a side dish for 1

Great food at very reasonable prices. Portions are very filling. I had fish and chips- the fish was about 12” Long and Was all fish with a thin batter. Amazing value - ironically very stingy with the mushy peas😂😂. Great selection of beers too. The stairs to the gents are very tight and steep.

Great little pub, excellent for a meal before visiting the theatre. Very good beer selection and the food was perfect. Haven't had curry sauce in 20 years and this almost makes me want to move back! The beef and ale pie was very good, and the pizza was rated highly by a teenager.

Main person seemed friendly although was struggled with staff not showing up. The main server who got my drinks was not wanting to help or answer my questions. I asked her to read one of the flavors of cider to me as it was at the back of the bar and I said I didn’t have my glasses. She just kept on pointing and saying ‘well we only have one’ ….. also, £27 for 1 pint and 2 glasses of Prosecco …

Awesome beer, awesome food, awesome staff. Was heading to a show and looking for a not-super-touristy pub for a quick beer and dinner and this was the perfect place. The Lyric restaurant is located in a small room above a busy sports bar, up a steep set of steps. Despite the big screen TV showing sports events (which I wish wasn't there) the menu is very much a classic English pub menu - but with plenty of variety. We were a group of four who enjoyed the hummus starter, and each had a different main course (Sausage and mash, Caesar saald, Quiche and salad, Burger and chips). Service was fast and friendly, the food tasted great (with good portion sizes) and the price very reasonable. What I like about this place is that it only has three/four tables and so is never too noisy or overcrowded. It is right in the heart of theatre land and makes a great pre-theatre venue. This is our second visit. It won't be our last.

The food was excellent, truly delicious. A heartfelt thanks to the chef; he's truly talented. The variety of beer, with around 20 taps, was also exceptional. They take good care of the taps, ensuring the beer is fresh. However, the positives end there. The service staff is lazy and impolite. Until I approached the bar, no one paid attention to us. The waitress seemed indifferent, engrossed in her phone. There's confusion with the food; the main dish can only be served on the second floor, and it took a while to figure that out. While we were discussing the option with food she looked like I asked her to give me a place for sleep at her house. Don't expect friendly smiles here or some interest to your person.

The most memorable and best times are usually those you don’t plan on having. Exactly that kind of time is what we enjoyed at this establishment. We needed somewhere to eat and a warm place to duck into. We found this small, unassuming pub in a back alley ready to accommodate those needs. On the first floor is the quintessential pub with a few standing tables, booths, and a large bar area. Upstairs is a more intimate slightly small dinning area with a cozy fireplace. The wait and kitchen staff are very kind. First, we were the only dinners upstairs and the waiter came and lit the fireplace just for us, no request necessary. Both staff accommodated my son who is a very picky eater. When I say they both accommodated him I mean the waitress helped tailor his want, and the chef came out to our table to ask if there was anything else he could do to spice up the dish to my son’s liking. Great people! The food was delicious! The fish and chips were huge, even the chips were as thick as the fish. The kitchen prepared my son’s hamburger perfectly. After living in Spain for so long we forgot what it was like to have a fully cooked hamburger and all the ketchup you could eat (it’s the small things in life you know). After we were done with our meal, we wanted to rest and play uno awhile as a family, and the staff kindly obliged. Overall, this was a delicious place filled with great staff that took care of us both physically and emotionally. If you’re from out of town and need a pub fix, in my opinion, there’s no place better than The Lyric. Enjoy!

Don’t believe the negative reviews!! I would have cancelled my reservation if I had believed all the reviews on here. I’m really glad I didn’t. The pub was packed on entry, a fantastic atmosphere and happy people, all talking to each other. I had booked a table to eat and saw that the dining room was upstairs (quite usual for old London pubs!). I pushed through the crowd (no one in London ever worries about that if you politely say excuse me and smile!) Once upstairs, I found my name on a table and sat down. A nice window seat with a view to the very happening London street below. A nice waiter appeared and we enjoyed good wine and tasty food. The dining room was small (6/7 tables??) so booking is advisable. This is good pub food people!! Not too expensive, not fancy. The Lyric Soho has been there for years. You’re walking into London History when you drink or dine in some London pubs and this one was great. Creaky staircase, fireplace, little windows. If you want modern, posh food, go somewhere else. I’d go back here again.

🚇Piccadilly Circus 🍺 £6.20 Budvar ❤️ A friendly and welcoming beer lovers paradise. The Lyric is located on Great Windmill Street at the southern end of vibrant Soho. The nearest Tube is Piccadilly Circus which is a three minute walk away. In 1739 there were two separate pubs present here, The Ham and The Windmill. By 1811 the two had merged to become the Ham & Windmill. The name was changed to the Lyric Tavern in 1890 and the pub was re-built in its current form in 1906. The pub sits opposite what was The Red Lion where in 1847 Karl Marx submitted proposals for writing the Communist Manifesto. This is a two room pub that has the main bar on the ground floor with a cosy room set aside for dining upstairs. The decor here is traditional and has that unique Soho pub feel to it. The walls are painted a pale green to make the pub feel light and spacious. The servery is compact, well stocked and has an ornate back bar. Across the ceiling are hundreds of pump clips and beer mats of beers that have graced the pumps here. There are also some beautiful features throughout the pub, the tiled entrance, the etched windows and two period fireplaces. The beer selection here is vast, there are ten cask ales, three cask ciders and twenty keg options to choose from. I decided on a pint of Budvar, my pint was excellent, price point was average. The food menu is full of pub classics plus a selection of Pizza’s and Burgers. Roasts are available on a Sunday, Fish & Chips costs £16.95. I visited around 3pm on a Friday afternoon in early November. The pub had a dozen or so punters in attendance, the atmosphere was relaxed and laidback. The service was fantastic, I got chatting to a few of the team who were all welcoming, friendly and personable. @thelyricpub is a cracking little pub that is warm and welcoming. The beer lovers among you will love this place with 33 taps to choose from. The setting is atmospheric and traditional, the service was friendly and personable. I really enjoyed my visit here, definitely a must visit if you’re in this part of town. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 03.11.23

A top notch pub for central London. There was about 15 keg options and eight ale options available. The range was excellent too with lagers such as Veltins and Budvar, plus plenty of IPAs etc available. It had a cosy feel and although quite small downstairs had a really nice feel to it. There appeared to be a dining room upstairs too, so plenty of space if you want to eat. The chap behind the bar was friendly too and the price of a Veltins plus spirit and mixer was just over £12, which is pretty good for the location. A great pub for the centre of town.

Good selection of beer, although rather pricey even for Soho, and nice down to earth interior, but they have an annoying policy of requiring you to use plastic glasses if you go outside, and it's enforced very belligerently and rudely by security staff, who even lie about it being a requirement imposed by the council. Pretty much every other bar and pub in Soho allows you to take your regular glass outside with you, and security staff elsewhere are usually friendly and polite. Here we were made to feel like criminals. Unlikely to return.

Nice little pub, touch shabby but characterful. Not too busy or touristy considering the location. Quite a lot of craft beer choices on draft but in a special challenge, you're supposed to be able to pick one by glaring over the bar & reading the clips from a couple of metres away, not by having a beer board like virtually every other place does so that's fun. They have a board showing what beers are coming up next though so get memorising & jobs a goodun. Ordered a third of something about 10%, got a half given instead. Typical London. Price wasn't too bad actually so couldn't be bothered to say anything. Took time to enjoy it which seemed of interest to the same staff member who was maybe expecting me back at the bar before long. In a faraway & magical land where I got what I asked for, who knows? I could have been. Just as a singer might need a C note from their accompanying pianist for pitch, some young men in here might need their mothers to remind them of their "indoor voice" so other drinkers can enjoy ambient volume levels somewhat below the level of heavy industrial machinery, such was their projection.

We arrived for our reservation at 17:00 and there was no waiter or waitress to welcome us to take a food or drink order. The dining room upstairs was left in a horrendous condition by the staff with a couple of tables left with plates of food which drew the attention of flies. I went into the kitchen to see if we would get any waiter service but neither chief could speak English so I ventured downstairs to the bar and there was a lady on her own clearly not able to accommodate any guests upstairs. To make things worse she opened up the diary to see if we had a reservation and there was no entry written. I did show her my email reservation confirmation with a shrug of the shoulders 'You've not got a booking' and that was the end of that. The booking process is shambolic and isn't accountable either. Who uses a written diary in 2023? Please don't take reservations if you aren't able to provide a level of service as the staffing levels were so inadequate for the service that was required. You've got a great establishment in a brilliant area but the staffing and service are far from what they should be. No hard feelings we wanted to support a local pub but in the end, we went to a tried and tested Weatherspoons. We wish you all the best and hope you iron out these service issues soon.
