Recommended! After trying for several days we managed to eat here one Saturday for lunch. La Poule au Pot has a charming, warm decor. The service is very good, Agosto and Eric were attentive and the staff generally friendly. The food is delicious - my partner and I opted for a two course set menu. The portions are generous, with plenty of bread and vegetables.

Still one of my family's favourite restaurants in London. Such a great atmosphere; candlelight, white table clothes and bistro chairs, dried flowers, magnums of wine... oh and the food! Everytime it is the aspargus, hot with hollandaise, followed by the Coq au Vin. Other dishes enjoyed this visit were the French onion soup, entrecote and frites, liver, ratatouille - and the chocolate mousse! We love the servers here too.

Surely this is one of the worst restaurants in London. The long-standing manager greets you with a look of indifference verging on contempt and directs you a table that wouldn't be out of place in a skip it was so rickety. The house standard Boef Bourguignon was an insult to the French classic, lacking all the key ingredients ie red wine, button mushrooms, onions, vegetables and herbs. The few scraggy morsels of beef looked like a very cheap cut. The side plates of vegetables were the most underwhelming sight since school dinners, lacking any garnish or attempt to disguise the fact they had probably been prepared by someone who didn't give a damn. Service, when it came, was impersonal and abrupt. One of those Chinese robots has as much personality as the staff in this place.

Today, my husband and I had our biannual treat at this restaurant. The food never disappoints and we were so well served from the time we entered. Unfortunately, my husband had a mini stroke and was unable to support himself for some time. He was treated with the utmost kindness and consideration while a member of staff spent at least half an hour gently and kindly helping him to a taxi. The help was just there all the time while it was needed, and another member of staff as well helped him to get into a taxi. It is always so reassuring and maybe surprising, to encounter spontaneous human kindness in times of difficultly. Many many thanks to the staff..

What an incredible place - we came here for my nephew’s 18th birthday lunch and from start to finish the meal was incredible. The French Onion soup was possibly the best thing I’ve ever tasted and I honestly think I’m going to dream about it for eternity. Delicious salmon - wish I’d had room for pudding! Fabulous wine list too. Great intimate atmosphere and lovely service. Can’t wait to come back!

Staying in Belgravia for a few days to celebrate my birthday. Wanted to dine somewhere special within walking distance to my hotel. I read the reviews and checked the menu online and booked a table for one. So glad I did! I was treated well (not always the case for a solo woman) and the food was great. I mentioned to the MaitreD that it was my birthday and he surprised me with a candle in my crème brulee - and he sang Happy Birthday to me tableside. 🤭I had a salmon dinner plate with green beans and it was lovely. The atmosphere is charming, the service attentive, and the food was terrific.

A group of 5 of us had lunch on 19 September 2024 that was booked weeks in advance. The Service was quite slow and the food okay but nothing to shout about, but what really spoilt it was the service by an arrogant and frankly rude waiter. It’s the kind of treatment you expect in Paris, but please don’t do it in London. As a result I won’t be returning and certainly won’t be recommending this restaurant to anyone.

Had a lovely dinner on a Sunday evening - very warm, cozy and inviting ambience. Will absolutely be back. Great guidance from our french server. The onion tart, supreme poulet, duck confit and onion soup were our top faves (probably in that order). The tarragon cream sauce on the chicken was delicious. The duck confit was cooked very well. The onion tart was sublime. We didn't care for the Tarte tatin (tasted a bit more like poached apples with a soggy bottom), so may try the mousse au Chocolat next time. Would def come back

Service was terrible. I am sure others customers would disagree as the waiter seemed like he was giving other tables the best service of their lives. Got in and for 15 mins no one offered drinks (or their complimentary bread/butter). Asked the waiter to take our drinks/food order. Water did not arrive till an hour after arrival. Was served onion soup with no spoon. Requested to replace a napkin that had candle wax drip - never arrived. Once the mains came another waiter created space for the side salads to arrive... it never did. We've been here before and the food and service was amazing. Not sure what happened this time, it wasn't a busy night at all. It's such a shame that waiters pick on tables they want to be nice to. We're paying customers too...

I really love this restaurant, we tend to book in here whenever we are down in London. I loved my food; the onion tart and then the lamb which was cooked to perfection. My husband loved his massive cassoulet also. The staff are really fun and friendly, whilst being professional, and the place is cosy with the candles lit and the dark lighting. I really love it. The only thing I would say is I think it has become a bit prohibitively expensive for what it is. As I say, I love the food, but it isn't anything out of this world, and I think it's probably almost doubled in price from when we first came around 5 years ago. It does make me think twice as to whether I'd book next time I was down or try something else.

This restaurant has been open for 60 years and unchanged for 50. It retains all the most attractive parts of 1970s decor. Place came highly recommended to us. Service was immaculate and the ambiance inside the restaurant was amazing. Very romantic. Most of our food was delicious as well. Quite a deal they have for the pre-fixe 2 or 3 course dinner as well. However…2 things: I am not sure if this is just a thing in Europe/UK but the tables are WAY too close together and I physically had to move the table to get in and out of my seat to use the bathroom. I can hear everyone else’s conversations in depth which provides for a rather impersonal experience. Secondly, I do not know what happened to my lady’s steak. The char on it looked nice but the taste was burnt, it lacked ANY seasoning whatsoever (even the peppercorn sauce couldn’t save it) and tasted as if it was cooked IN gas, not over gas lit flames (you could taste some sort of chemically flavor on the steak, so if they use charcoal I have no clue what the taste was but we both agreed something was off…). Shame, because it was a really tender piece of meat. My guinea fowl, mash and peas, chicken liver pate and her onion soup were fabulous though. We will be back! Bathroom signage was funny as well ;)

I’ve frequented this cozy little French Restaurant for over 20 years. I first stumbled upon it went antique shopping and the wonderful boutiques near there. It’s dark and romantic inside with candle lit tables. I generally have dinner here and have the steak with peppercorn sauce and the best real and freshly cut french fries in London! I never met a dessert here I didn’t fall in love with, it’s usually the chocolate moose! And let me say their onion soup is pretty fabulous as well. About it makes me want to go today for lunch with friends who have never been there that are visiting from Mexico. I think I’m going to go back today.

Of course the place boasts a wonderful interior and atmosphere and is for sure a romantic spot. However the food is extremely disappointing. Service is great, yet the kitchen is far from the price they expect. Chicken liver pate was average and discoloured, tesco could have done better, lamb rump is appalling, drenched in butter and garlic to hide the lack of flavour and silver skin & gristle which dominates it. Perhaps ordered the wrong items on the menu, I'm sure there are better. The mash potatoes are excellent. Creme Brulee was pretty piss poor for a French restaurant, lacked any sort of delicacy and complexion with a far too thick tasteless and bitter tasting top, followed by a bland custard which was less than satisfactory. I have good memories of this place! But the recent visit did not impress at all, the price certainly a slap in the face for such poor quality.

I had the soup of the day- tomato soup- was quite nice but nothing to write home about. However, the guinea fowl was divine. I was upset when it was over. Table had different chicken options and liked them all. Only thing is the chicken breast comes in a creamy sauce that we weren’t aware of. It was still good but not what we were hoping for. I was recommended by a load of different people, but could never get a table. We phoned so many times, it became a running joke, so one night when having drinks at the orange, we send in my other half, she asks for a table, the male waiter sends her out, saying they’re full, even though there were tables free. Next we send in her sister, she asks in French (being half French) and she gets a table straight away…typical French attitude! The food was pretty average, you can do a lot better for French food in London. Steak frites - the frites are not frites. Shame really!

It had a good mix of customers - locals, families and business lunches. The staff were very good. They all spoke french, looked as if they enjoyed their jobs and were on the 'perfect' side of attentive. Not rushing anything, yet there when you needed them... Finally, the food. Excellent. After trying not to be too British and eating all the bread (the butter was divine), I had the special for starter and a traditional French stew like dish for main. Washed down with a good quality bottle of red wine and followed by cheese. Delicious. The price was remarkably cheap compared to many poorer establishments I've been to in and around London. Came for girlfriends birthday, when we walked in the service was cold, the server who spoke to us at first was not really helpful, he pointed us in the direction of our table without us really knowing where we were going as the table was round the corner so was a little awkward. Sat down, ordered relatively quickly with two waiters, one waiter wasn’t really bothered, the other took a little more time and care with us. The food wasn’t too slow, starters and mains were great, French onion soup was the best dish we had, my girlfriend thought her steak and sauce was a little too salty, but can be just down to preference, I ordered the same and was happy with mine, wine was great, didn’t stay for desert but we wanted to, overall we enjoyed the vibe a lot and the food, it’s gorgeous and cozy. Not the cheapest eat, we ordered specials though so can’t expect too much. For the price you pay with service, I think it was lacking a little, which was a shame, would go again, and hope it was just a bad night as it happens to everyone.

We had dinner for two at this restaurant in January 2024. Without doubt, the ambience and feel of this restaurant is the best you’ll find anywhere. The lighting is perfect. The decoration is charming and interesting. The staff were very friendly to us and helped us with some aspects of the menu. The menu is entirely traditional classical French dishes. Other reviewers seem to think that this represents a failing to innovate. I disagree. It sits neatly beside heavily traditional Italian, Vietnamese, Indian, Thai, Spanish and other restaurants throughout the capital. It is nice to taste the traditions of different countries. Our food was also lovely. Both the Cassoulet and Confit Duck was great and served with vegetables that were well cooked and seasoned. The food was excellent, not the best in the world, but exactly what you want in the setting. This isn’t experimental or modern fine dining and it’s not trying to be. The price does seem expensive though, even for the area, as others have pointed out.

Tonight was supposed to be my night. But one of your very rude employees staff it. I got the worst service of my life! At the end of the main meal, I mentioned to one of the French staff that I had a tip for the steak, which was a little bit mushy. That staff then left without even looking at me. So I chose not to pay the service charge when I checked out. I also confirmed with another staff at the checkout that this is my right. When I was let out of the restaurant, the French staff chased me out and asked why I was complaining about his service. I denied it. So he said he remembered me! He wants me to never go to this restaurant again! I'm surprised he has the right to say things like that! His threats and threats made me very scared! He ignored my advice and threatened me! So I went to his manager and told him all about it. And that staff was about to start a fight with me in the cafeteria! And he said that I've been complaining about his service throughout the meal! This is a false fabrication! I never complain about him! This is the worst dining experience of my life! To see his face when I exercise my rights!

At the end, the tarte tatin and crème brûlée weren’t to our taste (the latter served cold - which we were told was usual - and the former was not sweet) and we informed the staff. They took the desserts off the bill and gave us a chocolate mousse to compensate. Really nice touch as we were not expecting to be given another dessert. There was no atmosphere whatsoever, the waiters barely spoke to us, apart from lovely Eric. The chips were inedible and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil and when we mentioned it, it was met with total indifference. This worn-out place just doesn't cut the mustard in this day and age. The space was unheated and we had the choice of freezing at a table by the window or a table right next to the serving hatch and the cutlery draw which was constantly noisy with washed cutlery being thrown in. This was the lesser of two evils. My wife's Dover sole was ordinary. I tried the signature dish of poule au pot. Frankly, my wife makes more tasty chicken soup. Overall, a big disappointment. we won't be going back.

Food is delicious but the service was not great. Unless you are a regular and know the workers then you will get ignored. We waited 30 minutes for a pudding menu, eventually got one and a further 15 before giving up and asking for the bill. Waiter seemed shocked we didn’t want anything else but how can you expect people to wait 45 minutes to get served? We were sat right at the back so it was impossible to get someone’s attention. I’m sure for some this place never fails for them but in our case we would not recommend this place to anyone purely on the service.

Went there for the first time and had an amazing evening. Three of us all ordered different starters and mains and tried from each others and man they were all delicious! The portion sizes were big as well and the wine selection was extensive with a good price range. I would say value for money this restaurant was top! The service was fantastic with big big smiles and just a good feeling. The ambiance was very romantic but buzzing. One of the best restaurant experiences we all had. Highly recommend it, will be back soon.

This is our favourite place to eat in London! Feels like you stepped into provincial France. From the bread and butter all the way to the steak. It’s magnificent. Every time.

One of the better restaurants in Pimlico. Traditional and unchanging. Good kitchen. Lovely ambience. Front of house excellence. There's a bit of a flavour of resting upon an established reputation and they will need to stay awake if trends are not to leave them behind. But, for now, heartily recommended

Can’t understand for the life of me how this establishment is rated so highly. Poor service, very average food at a premium cost. Definitely a case of style over substance. Snails with no shells, luke warm food, saddle of rabbit costing £36 that was over cooked and dry and the worst tarte tatin I’ve tasted the likes of which would never see daylight in France. Do yourself a favour and if you’ve got £100 a head to spend don’t even think of going here.

Excellent French cuisine and service and the fried foie gras is a must try. However very tight seating with limited space and is somewhat dimly lit.

Generally fine - attentive service, food was well-presented and delicious. They should go easy on the salt though, particularly with the fries.

Same as most Nando's so the food was good, but service at this location was much slower than elsewhere

Wigmore Hall is one of the best recital halls anywhere. Large enough to have serious talent perform, but small enough that even the seats right at the back and in the balcony have excellent acoustics. Add to that a good location, decent bar and seats that can accommodate the widest of bottoms and it's a winner.

Brasserie One is a reasonably priced oasis in Westminster, which is ideal if you want a conversation over a meal. I have always found the service to be very good, with good food and wine. The menu is limited, but I have always managed to find something worth having and that I like. Worth checking out. I keep returning.
