Cici Noodle Bar in Reading

'The Meat was Cold ' First time visit, and the reception was poor from the moment i walked in because i thought i was coming to a Chinese noodle place. The atmosphere was not appealing and dull, but i thought i give it a shot anyway. The food was quick, and he called my receipt number, thinking he would bring it to me. This was not explained from the poor reception i received from the start. Grab your own spoon and chopsticks that's all laid out on a dish washer cloth. When i got my food the presentation, it looked good, which was handmade noodles and beef brisket. And to big disappointment, the beef was big and chunky, but COLD once i bit into it and then the next piece. Food poison comes straight to mind. That explains why the food came quickly because that was no way cooked, but the broth was hot. As for the noodle, that's not handmade. That comes from a packet. Please don't try to fool people by saying handmade. Never again! coming from a person who loves her authentic food. Very insulting......£ 10.80 for cold meat. Poor The place only deserves one star for presentation on food. But seriously, my first and last.

Some of the nicest and freshest food in the town..super flavours at brilliant prices..staff are always friendly and polite..Faizan welcomes customers with a big smile and is always polite..

Popped in for lunch, needed something comforting to warm the winter cockles. Went for the beef brisket broth. Light broth, tasty melting brisket with some pak choi, noodles and other veg. All in all very good, a little on the pricey side at £10.80 but very filling. Staff very friendly but needs some music as the atmosphere was a little on the quiet side.

Very poor. It looks nice from the outside but the ambience inside isn't anywhere near as nice. Still we thought we'd give it a try. There were no staff around to order with initially and we couldn't find a menu. The food was extremely low quality, a bowl of stodgy noodles with some toppings (chicken in my case, egg/noodles for my partner). We couldn't get through all of it. There are much better places in Reading, don't waste your time and money going here. For what it's worth this is the first review I've ever been compelled to write which speaks to how bad it was.

Good food that was cooked to order. However, this did require a 20 minute wait. Better than most places in central Reading that serve fast food for the same price - this is much better and you get a large bowlful. Plum tea goes well with spicy noodles. Staff friendly. Needs music as there's no atmosphere, just the sound of people eating. I recommend the food and will go again.

The beef noodle is good, authentic Taiwan noodle. But the seating area is not very hygienic.

Long waiting for ramen noodles over 20 maybe 25 mins. Noodles and soup ratio to the rest of ingredients... 90/10 I doubt I ll be visiting again

「Dry Noodles with Beef Brisket and Spring Onion」really amazes me and reminds me a lot of the tasty flavour back home... The juicy and tender beef brisket served with the noodles, with two spoons of table-served homemade spice... just yummy 😋

Rubbish store. Really rubbish. It couldn't be more rubbish. The clerk was never there, I kept asking, but no one was there. Even if I ran out of chopsticks, they wouldn't replace them. And when I ordered one, I clearly said that I could check the surveillance, but he ordered two for me and said it was me who ordered it. Really ruins people's mood. What's the point of hiring this kind of clerk?

Terrible people surving..they wouldnt even give me a bag to carry the food away, they tried to make me buy one with my credit card i will never go back. Horible everything.

Came here several times. It tastes good, and the flavour is traditional Chinese noodles. And only one staff here, lousy service. But sometimes the noodles are broken, a bad experience.

The person serving could learn a thing or two about customer service, he was on the phone when serving customers and acting like he was doing all of us a favour taking the orders…the tables were sticky and condiment bottles/dishes empty…

make sure what you want to order as there are several dishes ranging from spicy to vegan

Absolutely delicious noodle bar in town, reasonable prices and generous portions. Their chilli oil condiment is out of this world; even though I have a high spice tolerance, I only required two scoops. I ordered the beef broth noodles with sliced beef, the meat was beautifully cooked, lovely and tender. Their service was brilliant, the staff very generous and kind. They insisted on providing us with a student discount, and were very polite when notifying us that they had unfortunately run out of edamame for the day. Will be returning, great meal, price, and atmosphere!

Great food, lovely find. Hope they expand their menu for some kid friendly options that would be the only request if possible. We enjoyed our meal very much.

Really good Halal Noodle shop! The chicken noodle had a medium spice to it & very filling. The prices are reasonable but it is on the higher side, about 10£ per dish. There is more spices & soy sauce on the table if you are to spice it up a bit more! I would recommend coming here once in a while for a change, albeit there are other Halal noodle places around town. Enjoy your food 🍜🍝

Yummy, authentic, umami flavour ramen and very delicious. I think it is one of the best place to have noodles in town and worth the money. The place may not look five star but the noodles are a five star. Definitely coming back. Plus my partner said it tasted like the proper noodles in china not like the typical ones you get in the oriental supermarket. Definitely a 5 star

Had ramen to go. The broth was quite tasty but the noodles were overcooked and clumped together. Overall the taste was average but state of the noodles was unforgiveable. 3 stars is generous.

Food is good, great place to have a hot and warm noodles

Me and my friends had our lunch here, it was raining that time.. a bowl of noodle soup would be a great idea. So tasty and beefy. The staffs are very friendly too.

I went to Cici Noodle Bar with a friend, and right after I entered, the atmosphere just overwhelmed me. The smell made me hungry. It was so freaking good.. The interior design is cosy and perfect to just relax and enjoy amazing food. The staff was the best part, excluding the food. He greeted us with a smile, carried us through the ordering process professionally, and answered any questions we had swiftly and clearly. clorder seafood with seaweed and tea bag eggs, I'll be candid. The tea bag eggs were not it for me, but the rest was just super duper delicious. I can only recommend this food place, and, me personally I will definitely go back there with more friends!

Had lunch here with my friends we order the hand pulled noodles with with brisket in broth. It was absolutely one of the best broth and beef brisket. The beef was cooked to perfection and seasoned soo well. The food felt like a hug! Definitely worth a visit!!

The soup tastes great, just like the taste in China! The secret recipe is their chef, who is also from China, that's why the tasteis so authentic!

This one star I gave is for the service. As the guy at the counter was very hospitable. The food however was pathetic. I ordered a beef ramen and chicken noodles. Both were cold. And tasteless. The sauce kept on the table seemed dodgy. In the chicken noodles big pieces of chicken placed and there is not enough room in the bowl how uncomfortable to eat. I wanted to try I did but I am Never going again

Halal food in Reading. Highly recommend: Hand Pulled noodles with beef briskets. Comment: tender, tasty, full of flavour and 1 bowl is enough for 1 person.

Small portions and little flavour. Two drinks and meals cost us £24.60 . Should have gone to Kokoro or Itsu nextdoor. 1* because the chicken dish, despite being full of bones and gristle, was okay. Pulled beef in broth was laughable though - Extremely boring dish. I'd make a point of not eating here again.

The noodles here taste good, but not like Hong Kong, or Chinese, or Thai, or Japanese. They may be a little close to Malaysian but I am not sure. Staff is friendly though not enthusiastic. Decor is plain and doesn’t impress, but as long as the food is good I am Okay.

Not sure what some of these other reviewers are talking about but I've been here a few times now and have enjoyed the food a lot! It is well priced and the staff are really lovely. Would recommend

This has to be the worst meal I have ever had. I make no apology there is nothing to be constructive about. My daughter has spent most of the night vomiting followed by diarrhoea, thought I would be OK, but I have also the same. Within 30 minutes my poor child is still in bed. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Its terrible, we hardly ate the food, it was that bad, but whatever you don't order the seafood, definitely not fresh!!!

This is a new place and I won’t be returning! It was awful!!! The food was just unbelievably poor, hardly any veg in the soup, the noodles over cooked, chicken on the bone in soup! Over powered by soya and just full of chilli. I hate to complain, especially for a new place, but that was a total waste of money! The guy serving was pleasant but apart from that definitely can’t recommend

A very interesting noodle bar - Chinese style noodle soup dishes, but managed by non Oriental people? We ordered the noodles with beef brisket in broth.🍲 The presentation is great 👍🏻 and this is how Chinese noodle soup served. The noodle is not the typical noodle I usually have with beef broth/soup, but it is good noodles. The broth tasted light and flavoursome. We both finished the noodles and soup completely. Despite the delicious noodles and soup, I have to say that it only comes with 4 pieces of beef briskets which is a small portion. And they are not in the best cut - usually it should contain both tendon and lean in one piece.

The food hygiene of Chinese noodle restaurants opened by Indians needs to be verified. The taste and ingredients are different every time.

The thin noodles are delicious, but the wide noodles are too soft

Loads of brisket in the noodles. Great broth, fresh and tasty. Gyoza came out a little cold but rectified when I asked. Great value.

These noodles are okay, I personally wasn’t a fan, I ordered the hand pulled spicy chicken noodles for takeaway. I found that it wasn’t as flavoured as I would have liked, also there were so many potatoes in my noodles which isn’t really what I’d expect or like either. The chicken was also attached to the bone too which wasn’t great. Overall I didn’t really enjoy the noodles, for £9 it’s quite expensive too.

Ate there today. Sign says halal but I asked about chicken goyza. Lady said they are not halal. Food was cold when I got it. Not sure why. It was ok

Disgraceful mockery of what real beef brisket handpulled noodles should be. Every dish was lukewarm, ranging from the tomato and egg, the entire bowl of beef brisket noodles, and even the extra portion of beef brisket was cold inside. The seafood ramen comes dry, after asking the owner to add soup to the noodles he obliged but felt the need to inform me that the seafood ramen is supposed to be dry. The noodles cannot be handpulled, they taste and have the texture of basic spaghetti noodles. The noodles are far too uniform to be handpulled. I have never seen a noodle bar or restaurant that has no steam coming from every bowl served on the premises. Such a disappointment, yet this business will probably still thrive simply down to the lack of alternatives in the Reading area. Do not be fooled by this poor attempt at beef brisket noodles.

Came back for the noodles. In 1 week from amazing noodles to undercooked. Now the beef brisket was good. Shame really was hoping that this would become my regular lunch spot. Let continue the search

If I was only rating the food it would be 5 stars. Noodles were nice and springy. Large slices of perfectly cooked beef. Chilli oil had a nice flavour. At a great price. However the drinks are highway robbery as such it loses 4 stars.

Friendly staff, delicious noodle. Could be better if more training is provided to them, they didn’t ask for or mention any food allergies, as well as the shape of noodles(actually can choose between 3 options)

The handmade noodles are delicious and I love the hand-pulled noodles with saute chicken. This restaurant has only been open for a short while, so I hope it will keep up its standard and I will come back.

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the food . Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Ideal for those who want a good quality food at a reasonable price , I recomand this place

Flavour is authentic, just need a few tweaks here and there. Noodles are definitely mushy to the point I cannot pull it out of the soap without snapping, beef brisket is nice but very touch. Hope to see you guys improve so I can give you 5 star review next time I visit.

Went last Sat and I swear, never had such a waste of money. Pathetic food and not a fraction of taste. So I asked the guy and he said "we only opened yesterday but you are going to love the food. its full authentic unlike xyz" Their website has 3 "self made" reviews which is very easy to make with random names and pictures. It was literally a mixture of an Indian curry that would have been poured into the boiled noodles.

Absolutely disgusting, awful, foul, despicable… I am un utter shock, the noodles were waaay overcooked, the vegetables were all mushy and gooey, and the meat was tough and chewy and the pieces were huge, bare in mind you are eating with chopsticks but you need knife and fork to slice the meat… Please don’t bother going here, you’ll just waste your money…
