CIBO Italiano in East Riding of Yorkshire

My 3rd visit (breakfast and 2 lunches) the food is delicious but being in a party of 6 this time we waited a very long time for our food with numerous apologies and the food was perfect when it came. They were extremely busy but certainly not put us off going back. I haven't been since its under new management but with friends we enjoyed lunch and the food was hot which wasn't always the case on other visits.

Dined at Cibo (pronounced chibo) The occasions was a family sunday lunch for my wife (Full price was paid as the half price offer is no longer on at present) The welcome was warm and we were pointed to our table. There was pleasant italian music on the sound system setting a nice ambiance however the occasional advert between the songs was not a good thing. Our drinks order was taken and the wine was perfectly chilled. The starters we had included the pate, prawn cocktail and mozzarella, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Our mains included the beef, chicken and gammon. Also the lasagne from the main menu. The chicken and gammon were enjoyed however the beef was a big disappointment and not what we have come to expect from Cibo. It was not pink, was too thick and chewy as if it had maybe been pre cooked and reheated to order. Also the gravy was not a lovely beefy gravy and was richness and flavour. Pizzas were wanted but there were none available. As such the lasagne was ordered however less than a quarter eaten due to not tasting good. No one asked if everything was ok, not even when we asked for the bill. With almost a full portion of beef and almost a full lasagne left it was not a great visit unfortunately. I hope things improve for this Italian restaurant and wish the managers every success in the future

Lovely food,friendly staff,drinks were on the expensive side but we had 50% off main courses so worked out ok,only ice cream available for dessert which left 3 of our party disappointed.

Let's get this straight right from the off... This is a greasey spoon cafe, not an Italian restaurant. The first red flag was that there are only 7 tables, more delivery workers than customers and the place looked like a cafe, apart from having "Cibo Italiano" emblazoned on the wall. Second red flag, the menu was nothing like it was online. Not that certain things were out of stock, but that it was totally different. As if they're trying to lure you in with promises of authentic dining only to be presented with two pages of pizza. Third red flag? The Special... Fish and Chips ... authentic Italian eh? The starters. The Calamari was overcooked and rubbery. Served with a "salad" which was nothing more than lettuce with no dressing. The garlic bread was nothing more than a whole Margherita pizza with no tomato sauce and a large soaking in garlic infused oil. Mains. The "Sea Bass" was more akin to Tesco's generic "Frozen White Fish". Overcooked. Frozen. No flavour. Mushy texture. The veg it was served with was very nice though but who pays £20 for a plate of veg? An insult to fish really. Lasagna was fine though. Service was mid, not bad but not great. We were the only customers so didn't get why drinks took as long as they did. Avoid. EDIT: Forgot to add, they played a local radio station on old speakers at above speaking volume. That's what you want with a family meal, the local weather reports.

Nice little place to have some tea and a drink. It shuts at 9 so you need to move on I've out for a late one. But once you know this it's good for a weekday meal out with friends. Only downside (it maybe just be me) but the chairs are not very comfortable but don't let it stop you from trying here. I would recommend it.

The only reason why 4 on atmosphere is that we went early at 5pm, but the food was nice, the service was good, and it's not too pricey 👍👍

The food was bland the salad with my chicken lemono was son salad leaves full stop I paid for a small chicken fillet and some warmish frozen chips. My sons steak came with two very small grilled cherry tomatoes and a small mushroom nothing like the meals on the menu. I won't be give them business again

Zero atmosphere, no music or candles. Bland food. We ordered pizza and a burger with 2 sides of chips. Waitress didn't even tell us the burger already came with chips and neither did the menu! Very pricey for basic food, thankfully we had a voucher.

Fantastic food, real nice, service excellent, cannot recommend enough, treat yourselves with an excellent meal…..

Last time we came here for a breakfast it was amazing. I don't know if the chef has left but when we went the other day I couldn't believe it the eggs were as hard as rock,the bacon was cremated, I had one mushroom which was burnt black and the sausage looked like it had just been dug up. It's such a shame because it's a lovely little restaurant we went on Mothers day and the food was to die for. I felt sorry for the waitress as she was so apologetic and said we didn't have to pay even for the cappuccino. There were no other diners whilst we were there I wonder why.

A really lovely place to eat. We were there for a family celebration and Tash really can't do enough for you. Food amazing and really good service.

Fantastic service and really nice food

Went for lunch. We wanted a sandwich, so we ordered a goats cheese and onion relish and a cream cheese and smoked salmon. They came with chips and salad. It would have been nice to be told they were on ciabata bread and not sliced bread . The goats cheese was okay warm ciabatta but could have done with more onion relish the smoke salmon and cream cheese the ciabatta was cold so the ciabatta was dry would have been better warm and could of done with more cream cheese. The chips were nice and so was the salad. We had drinks and the staff were friendly.

the food from here is amazing however just eat are terrible, I paid for the food upfront and it never got delivered. I got a phone call to say they were outside yet when I went outside there was no delivery and when I tried too call the number back it said caller unavailable. I have called the pizza people who were wonderful however they are not involved with the drivers they are through just eat so I would give the restaurant 5 stars but just eat 0 as I'm one pizza and 16 pound down!!

The pizza was cold, they forgot the cheesy garlic bread and was delivered late - not again!

WOW - the BEST ever Calzone take away experience. Even comes with the tomato sauce to put over. Full, and I mean FULL, of superb and delicious ingredients. Well done Cabo a 10 out of 10 meal.

This place could be a hidden gem but unfortunately it falls flat with atmosphere and ambience. We went for a valentines meal, we sat upstairs which really needs a spruce up. The tables and chairs look very cheap and there was no table decorations for valentines. A nice touch would have been a flower or a chocolate, just something for a romantic meal. The staff are nice enough just lack the personal touch like filling your wine glass that kind of thing. The lighting was fully on, no dimmed lighting for a romantic mood. There was a valentines menu with a free glass of fizz but they asked us if we wanted it! Of course we do, it's part of the menu. We had the antipasti which was 2 types of bread and a selection of meats and olives. The meats where lovely but the bread was like charcoal. I brought it to the attention of the staff twice but nothing got done about it. The main course was lovely, my wife had the lobster ravioli and I had steak. Both good dishes, no complaints there. In all a nice meal but the place could do so much better. Drop the lighting levels down a bit. Put a candle on the table. Have romantic Italian music on in the background, not a local radio station. Have nice tables and chairs that don't look like they have come from a staff canteen somewhere. Have the staff wait on you correctly, fill your glass when its looking low. If people aren't happy with a course they are eating, offer something in return. Free drink or more bread, something! The meal with wine cost £120 which isn't a low cost meal but for that I want good service. This place could be a 5 star place easy, it just needs some care and attention.

Been 4 times now, will be back again. Booked a table each time, but always plenty of space so walk ins would generally be catered for im sure. Food is delicious, simple Italian dishes cooked well, reasonable prices for the ingredients used and lovely attentive staff serving. Great for a friends catch up with plenty of cocktails to choose from, tonight's visit was Valentine's day, saw plenty of couples enjoying date night, I as a single mum made the most of the day with the lil men I love most in there, so a great place regardless of who you're dining with.

Extensive lunch menu with additional specials of the day. Had a bit of a wait but the chef cooks to order so that's acceptable. The service was efficient and friendly and reasonably priced. The evening meals are more varied and a bit more pricey. Would recommend giving it a try.

Should get free coffee with a full breakfast.

Food was pretty cold and the lobster ravioli was such a very small portion, we thought a mistake had been made but after calling, it isnt. It was certainly not worth £17+ in our view. Special skin on potato slices (with chicken breast) seemed to have been partly burnt. Linguine bolognese was average aside from being tepid and not a patch on much cheaper similar dishes from elsewhere..Hugely disappointed and will order from somewhere else in future.

We use the restaurant regularly and love it, it’s the first and last time we ever order a takeaway, it was cold and no we’re near restaurant quality but we was charged restaurant prices. Sad really as we probably visit at least once a month

Went for date night with the Mrs and there was only us and one other table in. With there only been two parties in and no music/atmosphere we felt like we had to whisper to each other. One waiter on, she soon took our order for drinks and food. She then helped herself to a slice of cake off the bar with her fingers and then ate it whilst still sat at the bar! Wife ordered carbonara and I had a pizza. When she delivered these I asked for a pizza cutter to which she said we don't have any, I can give you a steak knife !? Confused as I thought this was an Italian restaurant?! Wife was not offered any parmesan for her pasta dish either. We was left to eat and the waiter disappeared. We tried to find her for ages to ask for more drinks but she was no where to be found, she finally appeared after we had finished our meal! Bill was not worth the meal we had ..at all.

Food was cold, potatoes rock hard and lid was off the pasta!!! Terrible

We went for a bottomless brunch, the girls serving were lovely and food/drinks were great but just felt a little unorganised- people booking bottomless have expectations that drinks are served at least every 15 mins but often we had to go downstairs to ask for more drinks. Perhaps due to us having a large group of 14 but would suggest taking and preparing the next drinks round after serving the last

Disappointing meal. Doesn't reflect the dish I read it to be on the menu. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as being in my top 10.

Portions are not value for money at all for what you pay ! If your hungry choose somewhere else

We kept it simple with 2 x pizzas, skin on fries, and zucchini fries. Everything was well presented, perfectly done and tasty. Washed down with a couple of large glasses of the decent house merlot & a berry cider. The fair £54 price tag became £39 including planet offers current £30 for £15 voucher deal. The place should have been packed out, but sadly wasn't very busy. Its gotta be worth a try!

Not the best at all! Bolognese was dry not enough sauce at all, lasagna had a funny taste and garlic bread was stone cold! Only nice thing was chips. Definitely not worth the money

Siamo entrati non aspettandoci cibo italiano al contrario di quanto dichiarato col nome del locale perchè siamo abbastanza navigati ormai però era di passaggio. La carne durissima ( non si tagliava col coltello da bistecca) non aveva però saporacci la pasta non era scotta ma gli ingredienti vanno elencati tutti! Ho preso un'arrabbiata sapendo che ci sarebbe stato il peperone a pezzi( e già non la chiamare così...) mi sono ritrovata più bacon tagliato che pasta. A me disgustano i salumi in genere, avevo preso l'arrabbiata apposta! Che poi: olio d'oliva, fai soffriggere l'aglio e il peperoncino aggiungi il pomodoro e fai cuocere, sale qb poi ci butti la pasta, non è difficilissimo!

Went to this restaurant last night for dinner. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. I have given 4 stars for service as the waitress gave us our food without the chicken for my fiancé's meal and said she would bring it once it was cooked. I felt it should have all been held until it was ready. Because of this, we were not offered parmesan for some time and this caused our meals to cool too much. Atmosphere was also 4 stars but only because we were the only patrons (it was early on a Monday evening). That said, the staff were friendly and welcoming and didn't feel awkward. We will definitely be returning.

My first venture into this restaurant and although I can't really fault it too badly, through personal taste, I wouldn't go back. Six of us went for a family meal and the staff was amazing, welcoming, friendly, happy and couldn't do enough for us. Wait time was minimal, serving was spot on. So... The but... Well, first impressions at the menu was great variety, a tad pricier than our normal Italian but that's okay as its a one off trying somewhere new. Ordered starters and they where very reasonably priced, I went for the garlic bread with cheese. IT WAS HUGE! for a starter, it was way too much and in food portion sizes enough to feed 4. So, me being me, hating to waste food I went for it and I ate 3/4 of it. On comes my main, honestly, for £15 I expected a little more than what I got, for that price I had expected a modest sized pizza with fries and maybe a side salad. No, it was yet another huge pizza. Way too much for one person to eat and the dough was very chewy, I couldn't even cut it with the knife provided. The flavour of cheese was a little too strong for me too but I passed a piece to my family to try and they all agreed, it was nice but the cheeses was too strong a flavour for what it was as it overpowered all the toppings. I only managed half of it and I was full. If I was to make a suggestion to the restaurant, I would suggest making your pizzas a 1/4 to a 1/2 smaller than what they are now and also adjusting the price to match. They are nice, but by the time you've had a huge garlic bread to start, unless your the size of a house then you'd never get through a main. The other reason is they are bigger than your serving boards so cutting it was hard work. I had to keep moving the pizza around the board as not to slip into the table. Personally, I'd of liked to see either smaller portions but prices to match that or clear instructions on the menu to state that the garlic breads are large and perfect for sharing or having one just as a main. Same again with the mains, we would of preferred to have eaten a smaller sized pizza with fries and side salad or just a smaller pizza with matching price. If they where halved in size and halved in prices you'd be very competitive and attract more custom as you'd be different from the rest. Instead, I left over full, felt bad for wasting food and was slightly annoyed I had wasted food as that wastes money too. My son opted for a calzone, half of the calzone was just bread, no filling, kind of slightly unavoidable with it being a folded pizza but maybe a sauce poured over it may take away that dry bread and the dough was super tough. The rest of the meals, carbonara and other pasta dishes the girls had was great. Again portions quite large but nice and more manageable. All in all, besides my whine, I still give it a thumbs up but a reluctant one.

AVOID TAKEAWAY DELIVERY! We have just ordered take out from Cibo Italiano via just eat for the first time. We ordered the carbonara and online it states it comes with bacon but what came was big chunks of fat (see image). The pasta was dry and heavily seasoned with pepper to the point it was inedible! We also ordered skin on fries which were very dry and had been over cooked! I wouldn’t recommend ordering takeout from here!!!! Very disappointed and has put me off from ordering from here in the future!

First time ordering from this place, certainly the last, ordered 2x carbonara and 1x chips. The carbonara was inedible, the “bacon” advertised was burnt black spam like chunks and most of them was pure fat, disgusting! To charge 13.50 each you’d expect quality… far from it, it was too heavily seasoned with pepper and next to no sauce. Very disappointing.

Although it was lunch time and we were the only 5 people in the atmosphere was still really pleasant. The food and the service were really good.

One of the ladies from our party booked a table a month previously. We arrived and there was no booking, the man serving us was extremely rude and didn’t seem happy to have us there! We began our bottomless brunch and had only been served 1 drink after 20 mins, DO NOT go here waste of money and rude staff

Courteous and attentive staff with a high quality of food offered. I had a delicious bruschetta that really punched well above it's modest price. Will be returning again.

We ordered here for the first time this evening, I got the carbonara pasta, it has hardly any sauce at all and burnt bacon bits that is mostly bacon fat! The full pasta just tastes like burned bacon. We also got the veg which is seasoned to strongly and leaves your mouth burning. The chips were unbelievably soggy as well as being under cooked. The pizza looks like a frozen pizza. This place is NOT worth the £30+ we spend on the food. We are hugely disappointed

They now have menus-thanks! This place has been open for months now and still no menus on display in the windows...

Have eaten here twice. The service was good. The meal was satisfactory but not brilliant.

We went 2nd March 2023. The food was lovely. I was reticent about going because of a few negative reviews but was really pleased with both the food and the service. Great place will definitely come again.

Absolute disaster with the food, service very slow with long waits but waiting staff were quite pleasant despite struggling with complaints. Calamari was three strips of calamari that would not have made even two rings, overcooked and brittle- we sent it back. I had a replacement of Anarchic- very flavourful but small portion and cod inside. The pate ordered by the two other diners was quite good. My pizza was undercooked and had a layer of raw dough, my husbands pizza was burnt, one friend said their calzone was good but the others mussels were over cooked and came with rock hard toast.

Excellent meal and despite being a large party the service was exceptional with everyone being served at the same time. Will definitely go again.

Ordered from here for the first time, and was not disappointed. The food was lovely, and large portions. Food was delivered steaming hot, which was great. Would order again, but only for a special occasion as it was quite expensive for take-away food (restaurant prices?)

Ordered a pizza, absolutely freezing which I couldn’t really eat. couldn’t find my address! Delivery driver couldn’t apologise enough!

Disappointed to find we were seated upstairs, when we had requested a ground floor table, this was extremely difficult for one of our group to deal with due to a knee injury. The staff apologized but couldn't/wouldn't change it. But, we eventually managed. We had just under an hour's wait for our starters, of which were delicious. Accompanied by big garlic bread. The mains were a bit quicker coming. I chose calamari for starter and salmon for the main. This was the best salmon dish I had ever had, it was delicious. Portion size was just a little small, but quality was good. There are a lot of choices on the menu and the specials board. We all enjoyed our meals, we would certainly dine here again, albeit, on a ground floor table next time.

Delicious food. Worth every penny.

Awful, really disappointed. We have passed Cibo many times and thought we would pop in for a breakfast. We wont be going back unfortunately which is a shame as its in a great location with free parking nearby. Inside we were blinking freezing, waited 15 mins for our breakfasts even though nobody else waiting. We thought it would be worth waiting for... we paid £27 for two breakfasts and two tea's. Total waste of money. Sausages and bacon were dry and only just warm. We politely mentioned to the waitress it wasnt good. The only saving grace was the young lady who served us was lovely. Ok place to go if you want a cheeky cuppa if its something to eat mcdonalds is just up the road....

Had an issue with the delivery, they worked hard to sort problems asap. Food was top notch, will use again.

The food was extremely average. The service was not bad, a bit too formal for the place, which leads me to the next point - it doesn't look like a "restaurant", more like a takeaway with seats. The seating and tables are made out of cheap plastic and interestingly it's the lighting that gives it a takeaway vibe more than anything else (I have never noticed lighting in a place before). I feel that it could be made much better if it was just ever so slightly dimmed or more creative. Average place, nothing to rave about.

Went with expectations but sadly disappointed. Staff friendly and helpful but garlic and tomato bread dry. It would be nice to have the tables dressed in the evening. The room is sparse and has a cold feel not helped by the draught from the front door. Has a cafe feel about it not a restaurant had hopes for something better.

Early Saturday lunch soon became busy. Very pleasant staff.

Went for a meal on my Mothers birthday. Very welcoming restaurant. Was good deco and a good atmosphere. Drinks came quickly and so did the stater. Our main meal followed in good time and we wasn’t rushed into finishing our stay. Really good place and very near too our home. Would definitely recommend this place and also joined the 20% discount club which is a great idea on our futcure visits. The steak strips was really well cooked and the pasta was done just right too. Will be going there regularly. Thank you too the team there

Amazing food, atmosphere and service

Had a delicious meal here tonight. Despite it being busy with all tables full, the staff were attentive and the food was delivered to the table quickly. My family ordered a lasagna and it was huge! Definitely freshly prepared too and I had my pasta dish to my liking. Would definitely go here again

Had a starter and main each. Decent portions, very tasty and flavour full. My partner enjoyed the tiramisu martini very much!

Monday Steak Night. Superb Steak we went for the rump and it was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth the deal comes with house wine. A great addition to Willerby buzzy little restaurant with great food. The staff were great and very attentive. Added bonus was the downstairs toilets. We will definatly return had a great night five girls having a good catch up. Thank you cibo

Hey, this is a bit of a mixed review, but I thought I would do it on the off chance that it can be taken on board. We visited last weekend for an evening meal. Initial impression was quite good. Lots of staff about to help and the guy that appeared to be running the front of house clearly knew what he was talking about. Although there was a lot of staff there where a few niggled in service with someone else's mains been brought to our table before ours, and also when we requested the bill we where brought the wrong bill initially. They would have been forgivable if the food was amazing. However I will say that this place knows how to make food look great, but everything was just lacking in flavor. To start my partner had the arancini and she enjoyed it. I had the pate, and the pate was lacking in flavor depth, the only way I could describe it would be that it tasted like pate that had been watered down a bit. For the mains my partner had the lasagna and I had the 4 cheese pizza. Both of us noted that both of the meals albeit looked amazing was just lacking in flavor and seasoning. I really wanted this place to be great. 10 minutes walk away from home and so it could have been an amazing local, but unfortunately for flavor and the cost its just not worth it. I really hope that this feedback can be taken on in the tone that I am intending for it, and that I would love for the quality of the food to improve. Ascetics is good, but does not pale to how things should taste. If things can improve I would love to become a regular.

Friendly iralian bistro, the staff were excellent and presentation and quality was also extremely good, I started with stuffed mushrooms which were very good although small portion for the money. We both had pizzas as a main course which were full of toppings and cooked perfectly. My only slight criticism would be that they are in slab style presented on wooden platter and the pizza was wider than the platter making cutting a bit of a challenge, enjoyed the food non the less.

Decidedly average, food was uninspiring, and very average, what really put me off was the poor service there were 9 of us but at times it seemed like we were invisible, example had to ask for drinks on arrival, but then only half the table were offered drinks, table clearing was slow and half hearted. Everything seemed slow staff were just stood talking to each other. Friends who have visited before warned me, but you have to try for yourselves, I did and will not be going back, which is a shame as its local.

This really could be a great place, unfortunately it isn't. The menu is quite boring and is very expensive for both the quality and quantity of food. For starters we had garlic bread (nearly £7) - dry, not enough garlic butter, and arancini (again £7) 1 arancini ball with sauce and rocket that hadn't been washed and was gritty, although the arancini itself was ok. Risotto for mains was ok and a reasonable portion. Sides of tomato and onion salad, courgette fries and potatoes all ok just small portions for 3.50+ each. The oil for drizzling was awful, tasteless other than a greasy, perhaps slightly rancid aftertaste. A drinkable pinot was again ok, but at nearly £19 was again expensive for what it was - house wine. The real sticking point was the service, waiting around 40 mins for our mains after our starters had been cleared. The manager really seemed to be trying his best but there does seem to be real problems here. I'm disappointed to say that we wouldn't go back.

We had a very nice evening at CIBO italiano. The portion size was ample and nicely presented. I had the Pollo Stroganoff which was very tasty. The service was very good and did not have long to wait in between courses.

Been meaning to give it a try, and thought we would give it a go tonight. Was welcomed by a very polite young man and presented to our table. The decor was very clean, modern look and the ambience was on point. We were served our drinks very swiftly and food came out shortly after. All staff were exceptional, especially lilly who made sure our evening was to a great standard. Will look forward to taking the whole family one night.

6 of us ate here last night, I agree with alot of the reviews that the tables are a bit too close together but it certainly didn't spoil the evening. My only other slight criticism is that we ordered 2 garlic breads for the table to go with the mains. They tasted lovely but they weren't cut into portions despite knowing they were to share. Only one of them came with a pizza cutter and it was very awkward to cut with everything else that was on the table. We all had a starter and a main and the food was really lovely, I had the stroganoff, I was almost reluctant to order it as there have been some negative reviews about it but it was absolutely lovely. The portion sizes are really good. There was a good dessert menu but unfortunately we only had room for coffee which was really good. The service was a little slow but it was busy and it's nice to have a break between courses and time to chat. I would definitely visit again
