Ciao Restaurant in Cheshire East

We used to love Ciao and was hoping for an amazing Italian. Social just lacked that friendly, Italian feel. Service lacks warmth and personality. It was quiet enough to take the time to smile at least and engage with the customers. Food is nice enough but cold and not presented brilliantly. Tiramisu had hair in it and rubbish bag left in the hallway as you walked to toilets. One of my little girls banged her head and the bar staff just looked over and carried on laughing and chatting. Ciao used to make the children feel special and that’s why they wanted to eat there! Food is expensive for what it is.

Went for dinner early evening and the restaurant was really busy, especially as it was Sunday. Drinks served quickly and orders taken after a few minutes. Food overall was excellent, everything freshly cooked and decent portions. Service was friendly and attentive especially from the owner who looked after us really well and seems to have a lot of regular customers. Will definitely return.

We came here for a family meal. It's my second visit to Ciao in the last couple pt months. I won't be going there again and there are my reasons why: -I ordered vegetable pasta for main. It was cold, undercooked and lacked a lot of flavour. I'm just shocked that an Italian restaurant cannot get a simple dish right. -During my previous visit, I ordered vegetarian pizza. The base was soggy. There was too much cheese and the vegetables were wet like they were out of a jar. Very disappointing. -One person was left waiting for their meal to arrive. So ours arrived and his arrived 20 minutes later and still, it hadn't fully arrived as it was missing the dry tasteless vegetables. -We ordered hot drinks. They arrived late and were luke warm. -It's busy I get it but don't have a restaurant if you can't deliver to standards. Ciao Ciao!

Me and my partner visited here at the beginning of November and the service was fantastic. The food was truly delicious, true authentic Italian dishes. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back! Thank you again for a wonderful evening. We would highly recommend.

The menu was superb and we had an excellent meal for a very reasonable price. The service was good and the restaurant was packed - which says it all really!

Food was so beautiful & tasty real Italian. Service was 5 star outstanding from start to finish they really took care of us even sang happy Birthday to my friend with a candle lit cake which was so lovely. Went for early evening dinner having fortunately booked as it was really busy. Started with king prawns and pate followed by sea bass and chicken, everything cooked to perfection and arrive piping hot. Very good portions and delicious. A pint of ice cold Moretti went down really well. Great meal and good value. Will definitely return.

Visited by chance this little Italian restaurant as we couldn’t get in where we had planned. The staff are delightful, friendly & helpful. The food was lovely, tasty & very reasonable in price. Nice friendly atmosphere, we had a great lunch & wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this place.

Went tonight for a family birthday and was very disappointed with the food. I can only assume that it was a different chef, as not the sane quality or standard. Out of the 9 of us, only 1 person was happy with their meal. The staff were friendly as always, however very let down by the food. Shame as this was the first time in 18+mths we have eaten together as a family. Will not be rushing back any time soon!

I returned to Ciao with a family member who was spending the weekend. Once again, the service and standard of food were excellent. I do add that it is tremendous value for money too; I have certainly had meals whereby I have spent more and felt less appreciated. I look forward to visiting again, and wish all involved the best for the future.

If only every restaurant experience was like this. An impromtu decision to eat out led us to chose Ciao and boy was that a good decision. From the moment of our arrival the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. They took the time to chat with us and made sure that everything was just right. The food was superb (lobster ravioli thoroughly recommended) and complimented with an excellent wine. Combine all that with a very reasonable price and you have the ingredients of an excellent evening. We shall return...

Having lived in Poynton for 6 years, I can’t believe we’ve missed out on this treasure for so long. Once inside, the ambience is authentic Italian with a warm greeting from the staff. The food is delicious, perfectly paired with a glass (or two) of Montepulciano (my favourite) . Buonissimo! We will definitely be back again soon. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

This was our first family meal out after lock down. Service was great, accommodating the little one who only wanted to eat mushrooms and chocolate cake. Sat outside in the evening which was surprisingly warm. Garlic bread was big enough to share and tasty too. Chicken with vegetables and a lasagna for mains were delicious.

Had a lovely three course evening meal for under £15.00 and the drinks were very reasonable too. Really pleased with our visit, and couldnt fault anything.

Went with family for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It was very busy and the waiter/manager worked extremely hard greeting, taking orders and serving tables. The portions were more than adequate and all the food served together and piping hot. The menu is extensive and choice of beers and wines very good and reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

Ate at Ciao with a friend yesterday and enjoyed really delicious generous food, a cosy, relaxed welcoming atmosphere and great service. Will undoubtedly eat here again soon.

We had a spur of the moment lunch stop at Ciao today -with no reservation but they couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly . The pizza ( vegetable) was so tasty and freshly made with real dough and fresh veg - delicious! Then the pudding of trifle ( which was sublime layers of sponge and chocolate with custard ) was amazing too . We can’t wait to go back . Staff so friendly !

I went tonight with my 3 adult children, very impressed. The food was great, the service was superb. They have put a huge amount of effort into adhering to current H&S regulations . A very enjoyable evening xXx

We had a lovely meal for 6 adults here. A lot of choice on the menu and caters for allergies/ gluten free. I had the penne salmone which was beautiful and my sister had the salmon steak and vegetables which were really nicely done. The set menu is an absolute bargain, I would highly recommend a visit here. (Ooh also, very covid aware and great service and friendly staff).

Eat here on a regular basis. Why chop and change when you have found such a good place. Tend to have the mushrooms in garlic and share with my friend who has the home made pate. Mains we like are the salmon & Pollo Crema

We went to Ciao on the evening that the second lockdown was announced and so it was our last meal out for several weeks. We had an excellent meal making a fitting end to the relatively short period in which we could dine our again. The food was authentically Italian, as were the staff. Not only were our starters and main courses delicious but the bread was exceptionally good, the tiramisu was one of the best I have had and the house wine was of a very high quality. The atmosphere was pleasant and the requirements for social distancing did not detract from this.Let's hope that the restaurant is able to reopen in December; we are looking forward to going back.

Not sure why as a Poynton resident for decades ,it’s taken us until now to dine at this excellent Italian restaurant!The food and wine were excellent and great value for money The staff were very welcoming, efficient and friendly Definitely will be going back just as soon as this lockdown is over

Very nice food and very friendly staff. The garlic bread with cheese is fantastic and they have a wide range of starters, mains and deserts to choose from. Price wise not too bad - they do a set menu if you are on a budget

We had a Saturday lunch at Ciao and it was excellent, both in terms of tasty food and ample portions. We chose from the set menu for lunch but added a mere £1.00 to choose a sweet from the a-la-carte menu. I chose pizza for my main course but this is not just a pizza restaurant, it serves a full range of Italian food.The restaurant is clean, comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Covid precautions were properly observed and we felt entirely comfortable.We had the restaurant almost to ourselves, which was great for us but this excellent, good value restaurant deserves better lunch time support from the people of Poynton.

Lovely premises, lovely people and lovely food. Following covid rules to the letter. Will definitely be returning again, and probably again after that.

Came here on a Groupon deal.The staff are all lovely...very friendly and attentive. The food was very good for the deal that we got.The ribs were really nice...very meaty and fell off the bone. They did look a bit lost on the big plate they were served on and didn't seem to be piping hot. They'd probably stay hot and look better in a metal dish?Not sure I'd pay full price for the chicken main, pollo al pepe, (I think it should be £13.95)..but it is included in a fixed price 3 course deal menu as well. The sauce was tasty but the veg was a bit sparse and basic. The potatoes were Rosemary new potatoes but were just boiled as oppose to roasted, which is the norm/more traditional Italian style? This was disappointing as it made them a bit bland. The veg was very sparse and the most basic you can get, carrots and peas. The Afagatto and Tiramasu were spot on, apart from the portion size of the ice cream in the Afaggato...1 tiny scoop.The restaurant itself looks a bit tired and would benefit from a refurb.Overall I enjoyed it and will probably go back with a fixed menu deal but I wouldn't pay full price and suggest a review of the portion sizes and quality of veg/potatoes which were a bit of a let down.I did notice Groupon certificates of excellence on display for 2019 and 2020 so it looks like they're a regular on there. This might explain the portion sizes and quality of some aspects of the meal/corners cut?Give it a try if you can get a deal.

A family favourite for us, we just keep going back! The whole team are always really lovely and the food is always great. The fillet steak (and gorgonzola sauce if you are a cheese fan) is absolutely delicious and great value too.

We booked via groupon so we’re not really sure what to expect; wow it is amazing, homemade food that tastes amazing made with fresh ingredients, the best Italian I have ever had in the UK. Our food was served piping hot by friendly helpful staff. I would totally recommend.

Delighted with my first visit to Ciao on my 74th birthday (August 18th.) We were all very pleased with the meal and the friendly service. Surprised and impressed by the birthday discount, which I'd never come across before. Don't know when we'll be in Poynton again, but when we are we'll head straight for Ciao!

Umberto and colleagues were very attentive and food was very authentic and tasty. We were lucky enough to dine on the dine out to help out. Service was excellent and I would recommend the limoncello. Felt bad we didn't get chance to leave a tip but will make up for it when we return in the next few weeks..

We headed here courtesy of a Groupon voucher given as a gift. We had a great meal out and did not feel as though we were overly restricted by the offer - we were somewhat, but I appreciate such offers can leave the restaurant with a significantly reduced cut. The service was excellent, and we would go again.

My husband and I had goats cheese for starter. This was ok. We both had pasta as a main course. My husband had tagliatelle fungi. The pasta was undercooked and tasted slightly of pesto, no mushroom flavour at all. I had a sea food penne, can't remember the name if the dish. Once again the pasta was undercooked. There was no flavour to the dish and it only had a handful of sad looking clams and mussels. The service was good and staff were friendly. ⁹

Me and my partner have been here a few times and are always happy with the service and the quality of food. Very warm and welcoming staff, you can tell it is a family run restaurant it really stands out from the other franchises. The food is all freshly made, a must try for all to experience genuine Italian dining. Bellissimo Ciao.

We travelled over an hour on the recommendation of a friend to Ciao - and we didn’t regret it!There was a very attractive set menu, but as we are not dessert fans we opted to order off the main menu.The seafood pasta tagliatelle was simply stunning - clearly homemade and cooked to perfection. The mozzarella, Parma ham and melon medley beautifully set out.The star of the show was a liver in butter and sage sauce dish with flavours so rich and deep that I had never experienced before. The accompaniments were superb, tender aubergines and crisp frites. The perfect dish.It was a warm sticky day yet the service was with a smile, on time and brilliant wine and drinks served in a timely fashion.With a massive EOTH Scheme discount this was an absolute dream ticket.I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant and their wonderful team - keep up the good work!

Four of us had a pleasant trip to this Italian restaurant and we sat outside in the sun. But the ownership has changed and unfortunately I have to comment that, in our opinion, the food was better and more traditionally Italian previously.Two of us ordered pizza which was not described as "deep crust". Given the choice, we would have gone for a thinner crust. My sister in law left the crust I.e. half the pizza, on her plate. My wife ordered a vegetarian dish which she described as a piece of aubergine with a tin of tomatoes poured over it. My mother in law had the best dish which was a pasta.The staff were very nice but we just felt that the standard of cuisine was not as it used to be.

We have eaten here several times over the last few years and this was our first venture back there since lockdown. They have been busy over lockdown decorating and updating the menus but happy to say quality and service still excellent.The Staff are great, attentive and always cheerful and the menu offers a decent variety with a very well priced set meal menu. We had 4 people having 3 courses, 2 from set menu 2 from main menu, and a shared side, several beers and soft drinks. the Covid eat out discount was a nice perk but TBH we would have gone anyway irrespective now we are venturing out again.They have implemented good social distancing controls for tables and hand washing facilities, all staff wearing face masks making the visit more comfortable.I recommend the ribs to start and the prawns in chilli and tomato main.. also the chicken in pepper sauce is very good. Oh and the ice cream in this weather was very welcome !

Had a meal in the terrace out the front. Amazing little sun trap, ice cold peroni and excellent Italian food. Fillet of salmon and pizza both really good. Service excellent and friendly. Also allow dogs to sit with you outside and brought us a water bowl as well. Will be back for another sunny afternoon soon!!

We love Ciao, highly recommend the carbonara and they do a great lasagne. I also love the crespelle ( vegetarian) The staff are lovely, it’s very clean. The wine is a reasonable price, the house white by the glass is good and well chilled. The garlic bread is excellent, I think they have improved the pizza and garlic bread since reopening after lockdown. All in all a lovely casual place,

Been there yesterday night and let me tell you,the food was so incredibly good,they even have a new and improved menu now! The staff is massively friendly and Umberto,Emilio and the team are just pure fun! Just a really good overall experience ffs!

First time out since lock down. Lovely friendly staff who provided a great service. My youngest daughter is dairy intolerant and they where happy to make her a cheese-less pizza and fruit salad for dessert (which she ate the lot). Both me and my husbands meals were delicious, I had the seafood risotto and my husband the fillet steak. It was a wonderful family meal out. We will definitely be back soon. Little apprehensive as this was our first meal out after lockdown but need not have worried. Everything was just as good as our previous visits even the happy birthday song for my son. Can’t wait to visit again soon 👍🏽

The service we received was the most friendliest in the area. Not to mention that they would do anything to accommodate us if we wanted a particular dish. We will be definitely coming back.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food arrived promptly but it was not rushed. Speaking for our whole group of eleven I believe everyone enjoyed their meals. Altogether a dry enjoyable, delicious and successful birthday meal.

Sorry to say we were disappointed, there is a fine line between efficiency and making us feel like we are being rushed, we were served by 5 different people, The mayonnaise was passed in a squeeze bottle from a guy that was trying to do too many things at once.. The food was poor; and surprised to have whole olives complete with stones in a sauce. We were in and out after a two course meal in just over an hour.. That’s has to be a record .. Not interested in going again .. I could have made better at home....

I booked a Last moment event, really short notice for 20 People. the staff was really helpfull and open to sugestion of what i wanted to be served and how to set up the table, we were quite in a rush to sort out other things so we hoped for the best. We arrived later than the quest the staf take care of everything until we arived, the food was great, the atmosfere really nice, all the quest really happy.The Chef done a really nice job, good looking plates and very tasty. The best restaurant in Poynton by a mile! Family-friendly, a lovey atmosphere and delicious food. My family and I have been coming here for 13 years now, and it’s always our go-to for birthdays/ special occasions. 5*!

Poor service waited 20 mins for a drink then 40 mins for starters ... had to ask for mains in the end because we had been there 90 mins ... Staff were polite and food good value .They just need more staff .

We had a meeting nearby and the place was reccomended for it's friendliness and nice food. First, we were delighted with the authentic Italian atmosphere, then the warm welcome and the good service.And the food was delicious, took us back to our happy times in Italy...Lovely family restaurant, will definitely visit again!

We visited on a very busy Friday night. Service was excellent and all courses delivered without delay. Food superb and the wine excellent. Good quality ingredients and presentation. A nice experience and the four of us had not been for a while.

I have been in this restaurant plenty times in the past few years, I decided to take my friends here for the Christmas party this year, the food was lovely and generous as usual and the staff were very friendly, a special thanks to the chef Emilio which was cooking for us some traditional Italian Christmas food which it wasn’t on the menu.

Just so enjoyed lunch in honor of my late mother who absolutely loved Italian. She would love it! Wonderful attentive service, great Italian wine, and the pasta choices are endless. It was wonderful to go in and pick out our table setting.

Whole family went for a Sunday afternoon lunch, great food, friendly staff, good viarity in the menu. We'll definitely visit this restaurant again.

Not been for a while, nothing specific to celebrate, just an excuse to eat out & nobody gets lumbered with the cooking or the dishes.

We had a fantastic time celebrating my brother’s 50th birthday at Ciao. They went out of their way to help us surprise him by letting us hide my other brother from New Zealand in the cupboard! The food was fantastic as usual and the service was excellent. Great place!

Enjoyed meals in this restaurant many times in the past but have never experienced such bad service as on our recent visit. The garlic bread we ordered was burnt and when it was pointed out to the waiter he just walked away. Had to wait an age for our main course to arrive and when it did come it was not up to the usual standard. Very unsatisfactory. We didnt order desserts.

Have always loved this restarrant bit but it has changed the food was good but the portion sizes are very small. My main came with nothing as the waiter never told me I had to.order sides separately which would have made it very expensive

My husband and I had a groupon voucher for here and decided to go for lunch.The food was excellent and we really enjoyed it.While there we discovered that there is a set lunch menu of 3 courses for £10.95 with a good variety of meals to choose from.Also they have an early diner menu of 3 courses for £13.95 ....both very good offers.We have decided that we wil definitely go again and as there is also an offer for peope ceebrating birthdays we will be there for mine next month

Spaghetti, lasagne, cannelloni, pizza etc. The early eve deal gives three courses for a good price. One of our party ordered pizza and the bare crust seemed to amount to a rather high proportion of it, but otherwise the food was fine. I found the cannelloni very tasty.

Food was just awful......definitely bought in pizza bases and I’m sure there was a bit of mould on it! Bread given was stale! Service was not good as the waiter did not listen to my request regarding no salt......probably because food was already bought in and just shoved in a microwave! Food is not fresh! Surroundings can do with a bit of updating, chairs grubby and the place generally felt dirty! Never will I step foot in this restaurant again! Don’t waste your money it’s absolutely the worst ever!

First visit this week. There were seven of us eating with Groupon Discount vouchers - £12.50 for two courses and a glass of wine! Pretty much a winner from the start.

Visited here for a birthday meal and the food was as stunning as always. Steaks all round and pasta & pizza for the kids with a range of starters. The bill was really reasonable and the birthday club discount just topped the evening off. Having been to Ciao very frequently since they opened it is our favourite Italian restaurant and can't fault it. Keep it up ❤️

First visit to Ciao and I was very impressed. Extremely busy which is a great sign. Very rustic authentic Italian restaurant. Made to feel very welcome the moment we stepped inside. Staff are very friendly. Food was very good. A tad slow at coming out, but it was busy after all. Will definitely be back.

I really enjoy eating here. The calamari was superb and the Adriatico was beautiful. Great food and great service. I would highly recommend a lunch or evening meal there. The service was great, too. Not too fussy and very friendly.

We went with friends on Sunday night and weren't disappointed.

We ate from the set menu, which was £13.95 for 3 courses. Excellent food and large portions. Service was fine. They were full (I am not surprised!) and it was very noisy. I would certainly go again, but you need to book and I would ask for a table at the front (more light and, hopefully, less noise). Why do people shout at one another? There is a car park at the back, but it claimed that it was just for people who had named spaces. Otherwise, parking in Poynton is not easy.

Nice restaurant, very good service and the food was lovely. We didn’t like the way the staff all stood around watching us while we were eating though, it was a bit off putting. free car parking at the rear of the restaurant.

Went for the first time last night and was totally impressed! We had not pre booked but we were seated right away. Staff were very friendly and service was prompt. The standard of the food was very high as was the presentation. Wide selection on the menue catering for all. Could not recommend highly enough. We will definatly be back soon.

Myself & my partner went to the Ciao Restaurant as part of Group On deal & must say I was very impressed. We had originally booked a 2 course meal which turned into a full 3 course meal with coffee's etc. I had a pasta dish & my partner a salmon pasta dish which was very tasty.

Went here for the first time on a deal, and the food and service were great. However what really annoys me is the fact that having kids with us, the drinks were outrageously expensive. A small bottle of coke, and I mean small, was charged at £2.50, which made it more expensive than the draught beer. It’s finished in minutes despite protestations, but hey we’re on a night out. There’s no other choice for kids unless you give them tap water, but we’re out for a nice meal, so getting a fizzy drink is to some extent expected. Why charge that price??
