Love this place, always receive a very warm welcome, lovely to have a couple of drinks at the bar before sitting down, lovely menu with great choice but as we visit regularly massively appreciate the specials menu that changes weekly. (A must for regulars as the same menu every week can get boring)

Food was excellent, been a few times and suspect a new chef? Staff were competent, not overly friendly but not hostile. Toilets were absolutely filthy. Rim around the bowl, locks broken, filthy doors, a bit of blood on one. What a shame after such good food.

Food was very good, first time here in over 12months as last visit was poor. This visit has restored some faith back in this restaurant. Why 4 stars, this is down to service, a lot of young staff, very Nieves in there positions, I’m sure time will improve them with the correct training, the meal I had was the duck on the special menu, if you like duck then I recommend.

Booked a tables for 4 for my mother inlaw birthday for 7pm. Ordered appetiser which came at the same time as the starters, there should have been a pause between the two courses. One of the portions of chicken liver pate had the texture of crumbley cheese, this was likely caused by it being served cold which I assumed was served directly from the fridge rather than room temperature. We received one meal but not the one that was requested, eventually the correct meal arrived but unfortunately there was a minimum amount of chicken and pine nuts which was not upto the standard we expected and it was sent back. A meal of Lasagne was ordered but unfortunately there was a minimum of mince in the meal,another course that fell below expected standards. Unfortunately the meal was well below the ambience of the restaurant and the attentiveness of the staff. A birthday celebration let down by the meal. We'll not be returning.

Booked for 20 people for my 50th birthday. Fabulous food and the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Everyone commented how good the evening was. Thank you for making it memorable.

Visited with work. I had spaghetti and meatballs for main and profiteroles. It cost £15 excluding drinks and was delicious.

Visited Ciao Baby tonight for a family christmas meal with family that ventured down out of town. I’m disappointed to say that our experience this time was really not fantastic at all. Ciao Baby has been a consistant go to for my parents for many years, recently introduced to me and my partner who have in total visited four times in the space of a couple of months. A reoccurring theme has been the feel of urgency from staff to get us seated and served within quick time, this was observed on the table behind us, as well as during our own service. With it being the week before Christmas I would have thought that waiters would have a little bit more appreciation and consider that this may have been a special occasion. Instead we were met with the staff team discussing the inconvenience of us requesting a wait before our mains within the bar area, this was noted whilst walking out of the toilet. Additionally, we felt, a pasta dish that we ordered was sub-satisfactory. When this was raised with staff the response was “thank you for letting us know” there was no checkback from our “waiter”. To top it off our waitress slammed the bill on the table, by the end of the visit we were left disappointed and unfortunately wont be making a return in the near future.

Table was booked for 7.30pm on arriving at the restaurant on time, we were asked to wait in the bar. After half an hour we reminded staff we were still there only to be responded to curtly. This staff member was later observed to be talking to another staff member and glaring at us like we were a problem. Almost twenty five minutes after this, we were taken to our table and by 9.00pm we had received our starters. so 90 min wait for food. We were first time visitors to the restaurant and our food was lovely, we all enjoyed it and thought the restaurant was really nice too. You should have been transparent about how long our wait in the bar was expected to be, we were sent to there with no timescales. You could have been honest and called us before we even arrived to say you were in crises things were that bad. If we had known, we would have cancelled and come back another day. Our experience was so bad, we would never go back. Our evening plan was to have tea here then go to another event, our delay with yourselves was that long that our onward plans were ruined. Please communicate. You were busy, possibly overbooked. Your customer service was not great although promisingly we did get a “sorry for your wait” as we arrived at our table, so thank you for acknowledging that.

Myself and husband went to Ciao Baby on Saturday evening for a date night. We were 15 minutes early but were seated right away. Our drinks order was taken within minutes and not long after our food order was taken. I had the Pate and my husband had the baked Brie from the specials menu. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. We both ordered the Spicy Lasagna. The portion size was extremely generous and I can honestly say it’s the nicest lasagna we have ever eaten. We couldn’t finish the garlic bread so they kindly boxed it up for us to take home. Overall we had an amazing meal and can’t wait to return. Really great hospitality.

Visited with family for mum and dads 61st anniversary meal. Mentioned this to the waitress on arrival and delighted when she remembered and brought over one of the desserts with a candle in at end of meal! All the food was delicious - we had a range of starters and shared garlic bread, then duck, sea bass, steaks and the very popular kings and queens dish! Service was great throughout the meal. Not the cheapest venue (but depends what you have, of course! Pasta and pizza dishes more reasonable) - but would thoroughly recommend.

Dining at Ciao Baby was a birthday treat for my friend’s 96th birthday … and the evening was a huge success. We were warmly greeted by Rob, the owner, escorted to a booth (I LOVE a booth!!) and chose to celebrate with a glass of house red (always delicious!) The menu was extensive, the selection of specials inspirational … and the food was incredible!! The icing on the cake (literally) was when Rob & Brad walked out with a lit candle on a dessert, singing Happy Birthday. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening … and a memorable birthday !!

This is usually our family’s Italian restaurant of choice to meet up at as we all like the food & it’s conveniently placed. However, on Saturday evening just gone we experienced the family from hell right behind us & they just took it upon themselves to shout and scream at their kids, let the kids bounce up & down on the seating , run around and adults could not care less, with the noise just getting louder and louder. The staff didn’t seem to bother about it , and proceeded to shout at us extra loud to deliver our meals as they couldn’t hear themselves think with the noise !! And seemed to be annoyed that we couldn’t hear what they were saying ??? Erm …. So why get annoyed at us. My parents who are elderly really couldn’t wait to leave which is so wrong when it was a special birthday celebration Our daughter who needs special dietary requirements couldn’t be heard when she ordered and we ended up with a problem with her meal surprise surprise ! Because we were tucked around the corner at the back no one came to check on us and towards the end we couldn’t get any attention at all Then what a surprise, who is playing in the car park next to a very fast main road ( in the dark) , are the kids from hell who were behind us and there was a youngster who could have easily run into the road in the dark ! But no one was checking on them ! There was one young man waiter was particularly polite and helpful I must say who stood out . Thank you to him My mum left her meal which was a special which arrived on a sizzler plate as she said all the meat was tough and my dad said the duck was overly fatty The rest of the meals were fine Yes we left a decent tip as it’s what we do but it wasn’t an enjoyable evening

Waited over an hour and a half for our meal. Very poor service long waiting times even though we had booked and no apology. Scrimping on potatoes and veg between 5 of us. Please also sort your ladies toilets out, loose seat l, wet toilet roll and floor saturated in something, I dread to think! Won't bother returning. Spoiled our evening as didn't have time or even want a dessert!

awful service. i came in 2 hours previous to drop off a ballon for the table. the name and time was written on and they said they would put it on the table whilst setting up. we were shown to our table 20 mins after the time we booked and no baloon. waitress said there was no baloon and nothing ever mentioned. the waitress who took my baloon was not seen for the rest of the night. service was awful we could hear kitchen staff having a go at waitresses and a long wait for the bill. 30 mins for the bill to be brought after deserts had been cleared. food was really good so was a shame it was let down with the poor service and loosing the baloon which was sentimental to the night.

We've been waiting a long time to be able to eat an Italian after lockdown. Having eaten at Ciao Baby many times pre covid this was the obvious choice for us.There is no set menu Monday Tuesday at the moment which I understand as they don't have the capacity at the minute for economies of scale to offer it probably but the prices were still very reasonable but I hope the set menus return when things back to normal because they are great for a good value meal early in the week. I had calzone which was perfect. Does have abit if a kick with the chilies but it was fine for me . My wife had the salmon pasta which also tasted great. The ribs to start were a big portion with a really nice sauce we also shared the fish platter which was good value for money however i was too full to eat my main after all that and garlic bread but i had it for dinner the day after so it didn't go to waste.Would recommend.

So we have just got home after booking a table for 7.30pm. We booked this restaurant specifically because they advertise as heated and we wanted somewhere warm. We were not seated in the heated area, or on a table which would benefit from their outdoor heaters. It took 50 minutes to come to take our order, which they only did when we asked for the manager. It seems that nobody except the manager is allowed to take a food order, which is a major flaw when you’re already overbooked on tables. When we complained to the manager and asked for a table near a heater or in the heated area, as we had been waiting so long and we’re now very cold, we were given an insincere apology and excuses that someone had booked too many tables. We asked to be moved to a heated area, due to the time we had had to wait and were told that they would see if they could do anything but could not offer us any of the tables of four available because they needed them to seat people who were waiting, and they could not guarantee they could find us a table near a heater. We were 1 and a half hours in and had only just got starters (which were initially served incorrect so had to be remade), still sat outside nowhere near a heater. Once we did get the correct starters we weren’t even given cutlery to eat with so had to wait for this, all the while our starters were going cold. The car park was mounting up with people waiting for a table and tables around us were also experiencing the same shocking service. It appeared that our section of the outside area had been forgotten about. We reluctantly ate our starters and then gave up and asked for the bill. They then delivered our bill and charged me for a full bottle of wine, when we had only drank half, and I had to ask that the half I didn’t drink be taken off the bill, to which the waitress then asked if I wanted to take it home with me (not exactly when I’ve already had such an abysmal experience). The waitress had to then check with the “manager” that they could remove this from the bill. We then left and the manager sheepishly ignored us as we walked out, no apology, no attempt to build bridges, nothing. We eat out at least twice a week, and have done so in various places since outdoor hospitality resumed, and I have to say this is the absolute worst experience we have had, ever, and it completely wrecked our Friday night. I would avoid at all costs!

Booked a table for four during lockdown recently and was given a table under cover at the side of the restaurant.Had the garlic bread - rosemary & sea salt, whitebait, King Prawns and calamari for starters. All excellent!Followed by a Pizza Rusticate, Pollo Cremates, Saltimbocca Vitellpo and a Filetto Della Casa. My veal was very tasty ( clean plate when finished!) and my wife loved her filet. The whole meal was really good, as was the atmosphere. Didn't feel hurried at all and had a nightcap to finish off the evening, courtesy of the house.Will definitely go again.

Can only speak from our experience on Saturday there were 7 of us celebrating 2 Birthdays our ages range from 2 teenagers 2 in there 70s and 3 in their 40 s so a good selection of opinions On arriving we had our temperature taken then my daughter filled in our contact details I noticed some people said this didn’t happen but it did for us even though it was busy and I noticed this was done with everyone who entered so no problem there,as stated again by some there were a lot of young staff dashing about and our order was taken straight away and the starter arrived in no time the food was delicious nothing was left maybe to quickly for some the dishes were cleared and the main arrived which was very quick so I guess if you like time between courses you may not be happy again food was really good no complaints from anyone piping hot and delish drinks were also served immediately and yes no pepper but it was brought quickly when asked No one asked if the food was ok but they were really busy and let’s face it there’s nothing to stop you from telling one of the staff I know I would without fail if we weren’t happy as I’ve got older I just won’t put up with poor food or service I can cook a lovely meal so I’m certainly not going to pay a lot of money for rubbish food or service, I’ve read negative remarks about staff but they were young and maybe learning on the job and it was very hectic when we were there so to sum up loved it ok maybe few niggles for some people but we were very happy and great value for money would go again and intend to and being a 45 minute drive from us has to be worth it So I would say go well worth it this week we all went to another Italian nearer home and it was very hectic and busy with many young staff running round also a very quick service food served very quickly which is not normally the case at this place so maybe they are doing things different in vue of the virus who knows

Although the food, drinks and service was amazing, I did notice that the waitresses attire was a little inappropriate. Their skirts were extremely too short and viewing too much especially when out for a lovely meal. Not professional at all, and not nice to see them bending to clean the tables. I think a longer skirt is required for the girls. No negative comment to the girls, they were lovely and provided a great service! For this I give 3 stars

Food really tasty, staff super friendly but service was slow. Drinks took ages, mains arrived but we had no cutlery, my starter arrived 5 minutes before everyone else’s. No one asked if everything was okay with our meal. Drink service was so slow we only had one drink during our meal. Not only were we disgruntled about the slow drinks service, it’s also a lost opportunity for the restaurant to increase their revenue.No one asked for our details for track and trace. No social distancing in place. People mingling at the bar. Only difference from our usual visit was hand sanitiser around the entrance and some staff were wearing a face mask or a visor. Such a shame the service was so bad because the food and staff friendliness is spot on.

We had a take away on a Monday evening. Food was ordered by phone at 5.30pm for collection at 7.00pm. Service was good and food kept hot in containers. We had garlic bread with tomatoes, followed by garlic prawns and prawns in filo pastry, each with some salad. Main courses were lasagne and cannelloni. All the food was great. Good value for an Italian take away.

We have been coming here for years and the food and service has usually been spot on. However, in the last couple of years we have noticed things aren’t quite what they used to be. Our latest visit fell well below the usual standard. A dizzying number of different waiters/waitresses hurriedly plonked our plates down at random times, no-one offered black pepper or Parmesan cheese, my steak was well done (asked for medium rare) and the drinks we ordered never appeared. The personal touch has gone from the place. Shame.

We have been coming to this restaurant for years so were very disappointed to have such poor service. Not asked once if our food was ok or offered pepper etc. Oh and by the way if you want more than 3 prawns in the prawn dish be prepared to pay extra! Come on Ciao Baby, look after your loyal customers! We will not be coming back!

Enjoyed a fantastic meal here on Friday night, it’s a bit out of the way for me but the 40 min drive proved well worth it! We loved the booth style tables giving a feeling of privacy, stylish decor and friendly staff. The food is 5* with three of us ordering steaks (all cooked differently) and one having a pasta dish, absolutely no complaints from a group that confesses to being often hard to please. Thanks, can’t wait to come again.

We recently visited this restaurant and ordered fillet steaks. When the waitress took our order I asked if I could have proper chips with my steak and she said no problem. However when our meals arrived they had the dreaded fries on them I explained that I had asked for proper chips and she said these are the only ones that we do.Now we have had fries at other restaurants that were edible but these were the dry cardboard variety that should never be served with a top steak dish. I let it be known that I was not happy and they said if we mention the chips when we make our next booking they will sort out some proper chips but come on guy's you need the proper chips option as a staple on your regular menu if you want more steak customers. We will be back soon as we really like this place and the staff are always brilliant but proper chips next time please.

We had a meal here this evening which was lovely. The staff were friendly too. Ciao Baby could be even better if a little more attention was paid to the restaurant environment which needs some work, such as the decor, lighting and tables left full with glasses etc.

Family local restaurant. We come every special occasion and Christmas Eve. Waiting staff are attentive, you get what you pay for which is rare these days. House wines are lovely. Always a great experience.

Can't really fault it. As a local Italian it's excellent. Good decor, great food and extremely good service. Staff were attentive without being overbearing. The managers were on the ball and ensured everything ran smoothly. Very competitively priced too.

We love Ciao Baby and always find that the food, service and ambience is excellent.We last visited on an extremely busy Saturday night and can't thank Rob and the staff enough for really looking after us.We thoroughly enjoyed the Rosemary and Sea Salt garlic bread, Chicken Toscana and, my favourite, Sea Bass.They helped make my husband's 74th birthday very special.

This restaurant is a total family favourite! Everything from steak to pasta is completely exquisite. We choose this place for all of our special occasions from birthdays to works dos and all are a huge success. Service is incredible and the quality of food second to none! Went for birthday on a Wednesday tea time, fantastic waiter, really attentive and welcoming, steak Diane absolutely first rate. Lovely tender piece of sirloin, pink all the way through, delicious sauce and chips. And very reasonably priced too, ££148 quid for 7 of us including 2 drinks a piece and starters!

I live quite close to this restaurant but I have never been. Decided to take my daughter and I was pleasantly surprised. Yes I would go again as I enjoyed it but a few things just took the edge of that perfect experience.

We have been here many times over the years and the food and service is normally excellent. This time we took an American friend for her first visit. We prebooked for a Tuesday evening. It turned out that Monday and Tuesday there is a special value evening menu, which was truly amazing value for money.

This was our second visit to Ciao Baby whilst visiting relatives in nearby Darwen. Fabulous meal for seven and it is brilliant value for money. The food was first class and the service was excellent. Staff warm and welcoming and very attentive. Large bottle of the house red went down very well. We love the place and recommend it very highly!

Last night myself and 13 others celebrated a baby shower at Ciao Baby. The service was excellent and the food was amazing! I have allergies and was very well catered for and the food was super tasty. They were really accommodating from start to finish, we will definately be back!!! Thank you!!!

After reading previous reviews, we were apprehensive to visit. However, from the moment we got there to the moment we left, everything was excellent. We provisionally booked a table on a busy Saturday evening for 8 ladies at 8pm, we arrived a little early so had a few drinks in the bar and was escorted to our table just after 8, which was perfect. The staff were extremely attentive and couldn’t of done more to ensure our night was as enjoyable as possible. The food was also exquisite and great value for money! We were that impressed that we’ve booked again for a couple of weeks time, which we can’t wait for!

Visited this restaurant for the first time, it was quite busy but the staff did a great job and were very friendly. Me and my family really enjoyed our time here as their was a great atmosphere. We were sat down straight away and ordered drinks which arrived soon after, We were looked after really well through out the whole evening. Poor service and poor food, garlic breads and pizza could of done with 2 more mins in the oven, the dough was undercooked. Not impressed by the speed of the service either, starters left on the table whwn finished for 10mins. Very unimpressed and would not recommend, stay clear.

We know there is no point in complaining about anything as it is pointless, again we have accepted this and continued to go. We visited on a Saturday evening and ordered a regular dish which tasted a little odd, the dish wasn’t eaten apart from a couple of spoonfuls and we had a conversation about it and said ‘no point complaining’ the waitress didn’t question why the dish wasn’t eaten and took the dish away. The following days my husband became extremely poorly and was diagnosed with extreme food poisoning, so much so the doctor had to report this to NHS England (following process) they informed him that the restaurant would be contacted and advised him that if it was a regular restaurant we may want to let them know - out of courtesy he went to the restaurant and informed them what had happened, absolutely NOT interested - I watched my husband suffer so badly, he lost 16llbs in weight in 10 days - I am convinced had this of been an elderly person of an individual who wasn’t in the best of health it would of been fatal or at a minimum hospitalisation. We had the conversation about what response he expected and he said just a little compassion - so disappointing and somewhere we won’t visit again - I sense monetary greed has taken over with no regard for the customer.

Have been here before a while ago and so was a little hesitant to go back as it had been so good. Well I'm glad to say it's still excellent with staff who go out of their way to make sure you have what you need. Nice booths to talk privately and a really extensive menu. Their sizzler is enough for 2 so a real meat feast. The outside area looked inviting with the heaters and comfortable sofas and even though it was early, the place was already very busy giving a really good, vibrant atmosphere. Ciao Baby indeed!

Really gone downhill. Decor a bit shabby. Staff a bit shabby and extremely unfriendly.

Won’t be returning although food was lovely the service awful and almost all the staff didn’t have a smile between them! Empty plates left for a long time and had to ask for our drinks more than once and then because we asked again they went on bill twice! We’re served by about 6/7 different members of staff and just no interaction at all zero smiles! Not what I want to spend £90 on if I’m honest Such a let down

Our first visit will be returning. Staff very polite, service was excellent, the waiting area very relaxing. A large menu to choose from, the food was excellent, cost was average for an Italian. Plenty of parking.

Good atmosphere as this is a popular venue. Service quick and waiters friendly. A large variety of steaks. Parking usually ok as there are two car parks

Can’t fault this place, went last night for the first time. The place is nicely decorated and has a nice atmosphere. Was reasonably busy. The reason we went, and everyone goes is primarily for food, this can not be faulted, especially the spare rib starter that I had, unbelievable, so good I wanted another portion rather than a main! Bar area is nice, we had a drink in there waiting as we arrived early. One thing about this place I noticed is all the staff are very pleasant and smiley, it was a real pleasure last night eating nice food in a nice atmosphere being served by people obviously happy in what they are doing, real credit to the restaurant. Certainly will be back and recommend anyone to give it a try

Came here for dinner with work colleagues. Restaurant is very nicely decorated inside and staff were very attentive. We all had 3 courses and everyone’s food was delicious. The fillet steak is absolutely to die for and I would highly recommend

We dined here Saturday evening as a couple. From the moment we entered to the moment we left was excellent. A friend recommended us to visit .Some reviews say the service was not good & we expected to experience the same .However in our case ,when we asked for plain water it arrived shortly after our 1st request .The staff were very polite & the food was very good , if not excellent. The chocolate caramel sponge cake was to die for.. It was large and very sweet..Nearly made my self sick eating it all ! We will definitely be going back

Well presented restaurant with a contemporary look. All the food we had was very tasty. The negative point as per some other reviews. Is that the service seems to go missing at times.

Came for a meal with family. Not very busy but weather lovely so didn't expect it to be. The food lovely can't fault the food at all. Service good and very reasonable offer. Any starter and main meal £10. Can't beat it and will return again.

Had read reviews and was apprehensive. First time visit and was pleasantly surprised. Service really good without being obtrusive. Menu very large which I am always dubious about but all food we ordered was good. I had spaghetti arabiata which wasn't amazing but was good. Other party members had pollo alla crema and lasagne. All was good. Nice place but quite noisy from big parties. Not a place if you want a quiet meal but we enjoyed it.

Service was average. Asked for water to be supplied to table at least 3 times although quick to bring alcoholic drinks. Felt the food was bland and I have cooked much tastier food at home .

Had a lovely midweek meal ,food was tasty and great service. Good choice of dishes and drinks with special offers too.

Always like the Sunday deal for two that we have,as long as we get the couples booth then im happy! I must admit i wouldnt like to be sat next to the larger parties as they can get a bit noisy. Overall though,the foods great and prices sound. In fact,we shall be there in an hour.. Im starved! :)

Start off by saying the food was good and really quite good value but that's all I can say on a positive side re our experience here.

Absolutely ridiculous shambles of a night which was supposed to be a relaxing family birthday meal.

Went for dinner with friends and really enjoyed it. Food excellent service cheerful and efficient and cost reasonable. Nothing else to say
