Ciao in Bristol, City of

Myself and my girlfriend made a spur of the moment first time visit this past Saturday night to this wonderful family run authentic Italian restaurant which has been on my list of places to try for far too long. It was a revelation from the minute we walked in the door due to the wonderful welcome and fantastic service and that's before we had even sampled the truly stunning food which was an incredibly appetising and colourful selection full of flavour and all freshly prepared including the starters which my girlfriend absolutely adored. This was absolutely top notch quality food including pizza that is absolutely incredible and all at very good value prices to match or in most cases better any other decent Italian restaurant I've ever visited. We cannot recommend that you visit this amazing restaurant strongly enough and we thank the staff there for the most wonderful meal and welcome we were given which absolutely made our evening and we look forward to returning as soon as we can.

The best Italian in Bristol without a doubt. Staff are amazing, customer service is 10/10 and the food is to die for. Chef made us a dish we asked for that wasn’t on the menu and it’s the best starter we’ve had (chilli and garlic prawns). We had a 3 course meal, drinks and children’s dishes for under £100. You cannot beat the price for the quality of food you receive here. Can’t wait to try something else on the menu. Thank you

I ordered from here when I was visiting South mead hospital. Lovely pizzas , served by friendly polite staff . Can genuinely recommend. Reasonably priced too .

The food here was brilliant. We ordered the chicken and mushroom risotto, lasagne, carbonara and pesto chicken penne. We ordered chocolate fudge cake and limoncello freeze for dessert. They gave us the warmest welcome and had the best hospitality. Would definitely go again.

Amazing food, amazing staff, all I can say is I'm highly recommend this place. If you looking for a quiet and good food this is the right place.

Great fresh Italian food and friendly efficient service. Proper chilled-out community feel. Normally you’d pay considerably more for this quality.

Unnecessarily aggressive member of staff. There was a mix up on an online order which was fair enough, however when went down in person to see what had happened, this person was completely unprofessional, shouting / getting irate and not listening to anything I said . If it was dealt with in a calm way, then might’ve used Ciao again. However because of this we will definitely not.

Best Italian in Wellington Hill West!

Once again Ciao has been amazing! It is so nice using a family run business where the food is exceptional as is the atmosphere. The owners and staff work really hard and it pays off, we want to go here again and again!

There aren’t that many family run restaurants left, and you certainly feel the difference. In term or service, a massive difference (in a good way) and one that you feel you can call it your local and to come back again and again.

Cute family run restaurant, we had our work dinner here in which they opened the place just for us as it was one of the only days we could do! Very friendly and helpful, will definitely return :)

Never again! We always wanted to try this place but turned into a costly nightmare. We chose to eat in the front conservatory section as inside was full of kids. No problem with this except there was no glass in the windows as the glazier hadn't turned up. Decided to stay there as it wasn't too cold. Ordered a bottle of wine, some starters and a pizza to share as our main. Wine arrived along with the pizza. Waiter explained they had messed up and our starters would be along later. they arrived 30 seconds later! Scoffed the pizza in double quick time so the starters wouldn't get cold. We failed. The whitebait was freezing (no tartare just mayo) and the deep fried mozzarella was just a hard block of cold cheese. The waiter offered us a free drink to make up for mess. We accepted and ordered a couple of limoncello's. Waiter came back to inform us they had run out. Paid our £60+ and left. One hastily forced down pizza and cold, inedible cheese and fish is not a pleasant experience.

It's exactly what you'd hope an Italian restaurant would be! Classic Italian music, super friendly staff and world class food made with pride. I have dined there about 15 times but was treated like a regular upon my second visit! The chef is a delightful chap and shows my family a very genuine appreciation and warm Italian welcome every time we visit. The spaghetti bolognese is absolutely class and the pizzas are top notch. If you want an authentic Italian food experience in Bristol then this is the place to be.

The owners and/or staff are constantly fly-tipping and litter their rubbish outside of nearby properties. Complete disrespect to their neighbours and the environment. Scummy behaviour and their business should not be supported.

My wife and I love it here, we go fairly regularly as its not far from home. There is always a friendly and warm welcome and food and service is good. The only issue really is that it's not exactly warm. Heating definitely needs some tlc but don't let that put you off.

Absolutely outstanding service! The staff are friendly and very helpful! I have been going to this restaurant on a regular basis for a long time. They have a large range of different food options and are very good at catering to different dietary requirements. Food is all prepared freshly and is always delicious 😋

My waiter was incredibly friendly and chatty throughout my meal, and delivered the food promptly. The atmosphere was just lovely - I liked the arrangement of the restaurant… the music and decorations give it such an intimate, authentic feel. The pizza I had was freshly made by the chef and delicious. Lots of variety on the menu also. Would absolutely come again!!

This has become a regular spot for us, the staff are amazing and welcoming, and the food is freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. Service is quick and plenty of choice on the menu, whether you just want to pop in for a pizza, or a 3 course meal, we absolutely love going here.

Absolutely awful experience. Whilst the young lady serving was trying her best, the bruschetta i ordered was based with cold wet brown bread with the expected toppings. It was not with a crisp or toasted base. The roof of the outdoor space was dripping down my wifes back onto the seat on which she was sat so we had to move. Whilst the main course was ok it was rushed out whilst we were still eating our starters and our starters were in essence pushed out from our hands before finished to make way for the main course. The option for dessert was absolutely non Italian like. No tiramasoo and the latte was poor. Only one other couple in their before we arrived. At 8:00 on a Saturday evening I suppose we should have known at the time we walked in. Thought we’d try a local restaurant but that was a mistake. Never again

We went there tonight and ordered some calamari. They were the worse calamari we have ever eaten. They were sticky almost like processed in a terrible tough oily batter. So bland they didn’t taste like calamari at all. The salad was good so we ate the calamari with it. I didn’t find the courage to return them! My spaghetti carbonara was just boiled pasta with cream and thick pieces of ham instead of bacon no yolk in it. Both dishes were just satisfactory. Will not go there again. I wouldn’t recommend the one in Henleaze.

I stumbled yesterday at this restaurant by accident with my girlfriend. I was not expecting to find a good pizza (leaning toward Sicilian pizza, not Neapolitan) in the UK! It was A M A Z I N G!! On top of that, the staff was friendly and welcoming!!!

We called in looking for a quick bite. How wrong we were. The food was very tasty but, lordy, was the service slow. We were the only diners there after another table had left so why it was slow I don't know. 3 meals were brought out and when we asked where the 4th was we were told it would be 20 seconds. 10 minutes later it was served by which time the rest of us had finished eating. My cup of coffee cost £2.80 and came in a big cup which was only half full and bizarrely with a 9 inch long spoon.

There were 4 of us. The food was very tasty but lord, was the service slow. We waited ages for our meal and then they only brought out 3 meals, the 4th took another 10 minutes to arrive (20 seconds according to the waiter) by which time the rest of us had almost finished eating. I wasn't too impressed with the coffee either. A great big cup only half full and for some obscure reason a 9 inch long teaspoon!

Excellent time. So well looked after, amazing food at very reasonable prices. We had a large party of guests and everyone said they will return. Thank you for making our night feel so special.

Wonderful food with a calm and peaceful ambience👌 Sonny our waiter was highly attentive, always making sure we had enough drinks, napkins and anything else we might want. Fantastic range of starters, mains and deserts. I personally really recommend their spaghetti bolognese. It has become a family favourite for us and we very much look forward to our next visit. It is a rare peaceful escape from the usual hustle and bustle of restaurants.

This is our 'occasions' restaurant when we want the family around. Celebrations, Birthdays, Anniversaries etc. Also, when we have some bad news to process as a family. It is a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and chef. The food is great and it copes well with a suitable menu for all ages.

Visited with my brother and sister for breakfast. The owner is so friendly . Breakfast (fry up) is freshly cooked to order. We were able sing happy birthday to mum who was too poorly to attend and the owner took a video on my phone so we could show mum. Both he and the waiter joined in the singing and even played the music to happy birthday through their sound system- such a lovely gesture. We will definitely return with mum when she recovers. I loved the food and the restaurant, the staff were excellent too. However, I had to knock a star off as they were advertising several cheap lunch options that weren't actually available which I thought was a bit cheeky.

We randomly popped by as we were close and just wanted to find a restaurant quickly. Glad we did, all the interactions with the personnel were very pleasant, they offered starters on the house. The food was delicious. Will definitely go again. Next time will probably get more than one bottle of wine

Dined there a week ago, and really food not too bad then, though service was poor. Not a place to go if you want to impress friends. The place is quite run down, big cracks in sticky tables, as not cleaned. Card machine was broken, so had to go away to get cash. Tried it again last night, checked card machine was working, as we didnt have cash, and told it was so ok. It must have been different chef last night as food very disappointing. We had same starter as last time, meat and cheese platter to share, but it was very different, much poorer quality, we ate it, as hungry, but did not enjoy, and instead of some nice warm italian bread to go with it, we had toasted white sliced bread; that was a first. The main course, spag bolognese looked different too and tasted awful, just a lot of gunge with some meat. Definitely not the same chef. On top of that when we asked for bill...yes..card machine broken, and we had no cash. The place seemed overrun with staff, even though it wasn't busy, lots of empty tables. It was friendly enough, just far too many staff and felt uncomfortable. The young guy serving us was very nice and helpful. Think might give a miss in future. We only tried this Ciao as our usual Ciao in Stoke Bishop is closed for holidays, but it is very well run, clean, and consistently very good authentic Italian food.

If you haven’t been to Ciao then do yourself a favour! We have eaten Italian food all over Tuscany and Ciao is the closest we’ve come in Bristol. This is a proper family restaurant run by a lovely Italian family. The food! OMG! We were made to feel very welcome and will be returning!

If we don't say it, you won't improve. I wish I had stuck to my gut instinct... Found the quality of the food to be below average for the very high prices. lasagne is one meal that shouldn't taste average, and the calamari to be cheap frozen style that you don't expect in a Italian restaurant. After spending £30 on next to no food, I'm sorry to say that we really did leave disappointed.
